Thanks @Whatshouldbemyusername. I don't consider myself strong or amazing, it's just that life threw a load of crap at me to deal with in the last few years and I had no choice. I've not always dealt with it well, in fact for a long time it hit me really bad. If someone had told me this would be my journey, I probably would have run off and never tried tbh, but it's much harder to quit when you're already in it. I am more philosophical about this now than before, but it still hits me sometimes.

@notinthestarsigns Do I remember correctly that in your previous pregnancy you had some NT concerns from earlier on? This time everything is looking ok though, doesn't it? Do you find this a bit helpful? In reality it's a huge boost to your chances everything will be ok this time, and I am keeping everything crossed it will be ok for the next half of your pregnancy too 🙏 xx

I’m so sorry to hear of what some have you have been through. I’m so anxious about this baby because it took us so long to conceive, but I can only imagine how it feels to have had losses.

On a more positive note, I had a 16w scan today and everything was fine (I’d been worrying since that cramping earlier in the week). I also found out we’re having a little boy! Feeling very excited now! DH and have been trying out names ever since.

Here’s the little fella Smile

Xx

Ps @Whatshouldbemyusername @lucyrp I have no bump at all yet, just that I can’t really hold my tummy in any more. But I’ve been measuring and definitely no change in the last few weeks. I’d been starting to worry but feeling better now after the scan. Mine will come!

notinthestarsigns · 07/03/2021 14:38

Yes @PurplePansy05 you’re right, we always knew there were risks in my last pregnancy from the 12 week scan, so from that point of view this pregnancy is very different. But things were looking a lot better when I had an early anomaly scan at 17 weeks and another scan at 18 weeks and everything was looking “normal” so that is why I still struggle to feel a huge amount of reassurance from scans. I’ve just got out for a walk by the coast which will have done me good, and our house got an offer at full asking price on the first day of viewings too so that was more good news!

Lovely scan @LottSE20 and nice that you’re feeling excited too.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend x

Carefree1 · 07/03/2021 14:51

Thanks for the new thread @Alittlexmasmagic, we must be a chatty bunch as it gets full so quick!

@notinthestarsigns I’m so sorry, I hadn’t realised you experienced stillbirth Flowers

How lovely @LottSE20, lovely that you’re excited and starting to think of names.

It’s lovely that all the ladies on this thread can be so open and honest about previous experiences and what they’re going through now. Thank you xx

Hope everyone’s having a lovely weekend x

HopefulB · 07/03/2021 15:34

Hi all, hope everyone is enjoying a bit of sunshine.

@notinthestarsigns, sorry to hear about your loss, I have a friend who has experienced stillbirth and it is my biggest fear, especially as I know I am at increased risk.

Re bumps/weight gain I’ve come to the conclusion a lot depends on fluid/bloating. Some days a have a tiny showing of a bump (fitting with how big/where my uterus is), others (since 10weeks) I look huge! Weight can fluctuate ~2kg in a day too for me!!

notinthestarsigns · 07/03/2021 16:28

Thanks @Carefree1 and @HopefulB. Our baby was a second trimester loss rather than a full term still birth, probably explains why the second trimester is particularly tough for me! I will try not to talk about it too much because the last thing I want to do is worry anyone on here, but it’s just hard as I find it difficult to relate sometimes as I think I am dealing with this pregnancy in a different way because of what we have experienced.

MrsB2019x · 07/03/2021 16:34

Lovely scan @LottSE20! 💙

It makes me so sad to read how many of us have experienced loss before this pregnancy, yet it still isn’t that widely talked about. I’m glad this thread is such a safe space for us to remember and acknowledge our babies while still being grateful for the ones we are carrying now 💙

Whatshouldbemyusername · 07/03/2021 16:54

@PurplePansy05🤗

@LottSE20 what a little cutie! Congratulations on finding out it’s a little boy 💙. I just either have a little bloated bump or coz I had a very small pooch when not pregnant - that shows up.

I just got back from a 2 mile walk! Shattered! Also it’s 16 weeks for me today and woke up with slight cramps type pains on my left/right side. Is it safe to assume that’s the stretching of the uterus?x

BananaHammock23 · 07/03/2021 17:05

Hi everyone. Thanks for starting a new thread @Alittlexmasmagic

I haven't caught up in a while so sorry if I'm slow on the uptake! I've been struggling lately and I'm finding it really hard to settle into pregnancy and trust that I'm actually going to have a baby at the end of it! I heard the heartbeat at my 16 week midwife appointment last week which was reassuring, but I think I'll book another private scan for this week as my 20 week one feels like ages away!

So sorry to hear about your loss @notinthestarsigns - I hope that as the pregnancy progresses you'll be able to find some peace x

LaceyMermaid · 07/03/2021 19:40

So sorry to those of you they have experienced losses, it must be so tough for you all Flowers
I think I have a bump coming now my stomach was round already but is much rounded and sticking out more! I’m back to work in school tomorrow so I a little worried how tiring it’s going to be as I’ve not been doing that full time since pregnant! I have midwife Tuesday for my 16w appointment and I have a private scan on Wednesday too so quite an exciting week!

PurplePansy05 · 07/03/2021 19:43

I hope the third trimester will calm your nerves @notinthestarsigns. I get it - it's the critical milestones that matter, to me that latest one was 13 weeks because that was when my third loss happened. But I do freak out on good days because of the history of missed miscarriages, that's a cruel thing when you think everything is ok to only then be dealt a huge sudden blow. I hope it all eases for you soon. Personally, I am praying to get to 26 weeks safely as at least my son may stand a chance of survival then, which I know sounds weird, but I guess that's still the echo of previous losses, that enormous fear of losing him that is somewhere deep inside me. I don't even want to think about stillbirth or SIDS because it worries me so much. Again, for me the only way is to try to focus on today, otherwise my mind would be overwhelmed with worry. xx

Alittlexmasmagic · 07/03/2021 19:51

@notinthestarsigns I'm with you every step of the way. Mine was a 2nd trimester loss too, the 1st anniversary of which is in less that a fortnight. I'm absolutely bricking it about my 20 week scan. I'm half thinking we're both on another thread together x

LyraShaeLilly · 07/03/2021 19:53

So sorry to read about all your previous losses, I have very general anxiety but can't imagine how much worse this may be after a loss.

I have 5 weeks to go until 20 week scan on the 12th April, I am desperate to find out the sex!!! I have been googling the nub theory and trying to predict myself!!! Anyone know if this is accurate?

My bump seems more pronounced lately but it's still not an instagramable bump yet. Wink

I saw some lovely baby items in the M&S sale yesterday but they were so gender specific so even though they were cheap didn't want to invest!!

HopefulB · 07/03/2021 20:29

Nice scan @LottSE20!

Best of luck @LaceyMermaid and others with 16wk MW/ scans this week.

Daffodil21 · 07/03/2021 20:36

Lovely scan photo @LottSE20 !

@PurplePansy05 I've said the same to my husband about making it to that stage as there's more chance of survival too. Hopefully we'll all the full way. I wish we could fast forward to august!

Hope everyone's had a nice chilled weekend. I personally have spent most (ok all😳) of the day on the sofa watching tv and films 😂 back to work tomorrow though, thankfully wfh. I don't know you ladies who can't wfh and those with children before the pandemic managed going into work!

Bump is now huge, even though he's measuring on point so I know it's not because of his size. I think it is mostly down to the meds though. The lady in the loos yesterday obviously had no doubt I was pregnant 😂

Those of you who have had children before (I only say that because I know my size is ahead of where it should normally be) - do you have any leg hair removal solutions?! It's definitely getting to be a struggle! Thinking of trying some hair removal cream that you can rinse off in the shower without the need for a sponge etc. Has anyone got any recommendations?

MrsB2019x · 07/03/2021 20:46

@LyraShaeLilly Pop your scan pic on here we can have some guesses ☺️ Everyone on the FB group guessed mine was a girl then they were right, though there’s another girl on the group who had all girl guesses and is having a boy 😂 all a bit of fun though!

LyraShaeLilly · 07/03/2021 21:57

Here’s the photo of my 12 week scan.

@Daffodil21

I am actually quite glad not to WFH I feel at home I am more likely to mope when I am feeling sick or are tired, but being physically at work I tend to not feel so bad as I am distracted. I have also taken lots of AL from 28 weeks onwards as I am not keen on WFH, but I have never had to in this pandemic so am really not used to it. I like the work life balance, and hate bringing work home.

I need advice on hair removal also!!

@Whatshouldbemyusername I am lucky and felt flutters almost every day the previous week but last week I haven't felt them much at all. Either thag or I'm getting used to the flutters. X

@LottSE20 lovely scan!

MrsB2019x · 08/03/2021 07:19

@LyraShaeLilly Hmm, I can’t really tell, my hunch is boy though?

Champson · 08/03/2021 08:11

@LyraShaeLilly my guess is girl!!

Magik01 · 08/03/2021 08:43

@LyraShaeLilly I’d say a girl!

Thanks for making a new threat, posting so I get notifications! Sorry I’ve been quite, had a week off work and just chilled. Was nice to go to bed at a sensible time as well.

I’m so sorry for everyone who has experienced loses in the past, I can’t imagine what you have all been through. I’ve had bleeding in the past and just the idea that it’s all over was unbearable. But we are all here now and fingers crossed we all make it to our due dates! Grin

Jessicapebbles · 08/03/2021 08:48

@LyraShaeLilly I’d also say girl 💖🥰

Whatshouldbemyusername · 08/03/2021 09:26

@lucyrp aaaw isn’t that sweet ❤️ Am Sure you’re gonna feel them again - stronger as time passes x

@LyraShaeLilly I am not sure how this works so will refrain from guessing although I could just guess and have a 50% chance of being right 😉

I have my 16 week telephone consultation on Friday. For those who have had the appointment do you know what they do? Obviously no heartbeat for baby since it’s telephone. I do have a private scan in the evening on the same day though x

MrsB2019x · 08/03/2021 09:38

@Whatshouldbemyusername She just checked in with how I was doing, told me all my blood results from booking were normal and signposted me to groups and things that I can look into booking later on. She also booked my 25 week appointment. They listened to baby’s heart and tested urine and BP as well
