Pregnancy after loss - Autumn babies 2021

Hi All, I have only just got my BFP and it's still faint atm. I had an mmc in May 2018, I then gave birth to my son May 2019. I had another mmc July 2020 and have been ttc ever since. I just got my BFP yesterday, so very early days. I'm not ready to join both groups quite yet. I thought this could be a space for us all going through pregnancy after loss. As we all understand the nerves/anxiety that go with this. I hope it's useful.

A bit of back ground on me. I'm 33, married. I have a 20 month old son. I haven't returned to work yet since maternity. I returned for 2 weeks then was put on furlough. I will be going back part time, doing 3 days.

@Pancakes7 I had a cheese toastie earlier and it didn't agree with me, so upset as I love cheese with everything 🤣 I am hoping it is just a phase! I have everything crossed for you, I have a feeling it will be good news.

@vitaminb33 amazing, I loved getting my 3+ it seems like a significant milestone doesn't it.

@PumpkinEverything 🤣🤣 stress eating if definitely a thing! Plus cooking takes effort and growing a baby is hard work.

Pancakes7 · 07/03/2021 13:47

OMG @PumpkinEverything I love five guys!! I'm so jealous! Whereabouts are you to get that delivered? DH reins me in lol. He's on a health kick so no take aways. Unless he's at work haha.

@vitaminb33 Aw great you got a 3+! Like you said, it'll be useful for your scan knowing roughly how far along you are.

@MrsTD88 Aw no, it sucks when you can't eat what you enjoy! Maybe try crackers? I had Melba toast with cheese. They are dry so I think that helps. Try some plain crisps too.

Pancakes7 · 07/03/2021 13:57

@MrsTD88 Thanks for thinking positive for me. I'm trying to 🤞🏻😂

@MrsTD88 ok ignore the laughing emoji!! lol. It was meant to be 🤞🏻🌈

MrsTD88 · 07/03/2021 14:10

@Pancakes7 I managed some crackers... I could eat crisps all day not sure that is wise though 🤣🤣

Pancakes7 · 07/03/2021 14:55

@MrsTD88 Aw great! I have Skinny popcorn sweet & salty which is good. A bit healthier too. But I did also have a Daim Cadbury's yoghurt lol

@imisscoffee I was just thinking of you. I hope all goes ok tomorrow. X

So pleased @PumpkinEverything for you. My symptoms have dwindled (of course makes me more anxious) so I find it reassuring based on your scan. I have a scan booked 14 March, I should be 9 weeks + 6 days

Pancakes7 · 07/03/2021 15:08

@smarty4 Is that your first scan? Sorry I can't remember. I'm sure all is ok. @Strawberry08 has her scan the same day as you.

Firevie · 07/03/2021 15:19

@Pancakes7 your memory is impeccable! You literally remember everyone’s scans. I agree with @smarty4 in that @PumpkinEverything’s scan gives me comfort too as I have moved into week 7 my symptom of sore boob is less ie just tender now when I touch them but as I mentioned yesterday and someone else mentioned I’m sure it’s our bodies getting used to the HCG. So we will have loads of scans in the next week or so...many more lovely scan pics of our healthy sticky beans xxx

Pancakes7 · 07/03/2021 15:25

@Firevie haha aw thank you! I try! I feel like my boobs don't hurt as much as they did the first 2 times I was pregnant (inc with my son) Maybe because they've done it before? lol. I definitely believe every pregnancy is different and symptoms will come & go. But that doesn't mean anything!

@Pancakes7 I’m in NI, and unfortunately we can’t get it delivered, which is probably a good thing! We just aren’t that far away to be able to drive and pick it up 😂

@imisscoffee good luck for tomorrow!

@MrsTD88 ah no! Hopefully that was just a one off as cheese on toast is amazing 😍

@Firevie @smarty4 glad it helped for reassurance! I also read this old thread and it helped me a little bit as others were in the same position.

So lack of symptoms or disappearance of them definitely isn’t always a bad thing!

Pancakes7 · 07/03/2021 15:26

@PumpkinEverything Aw nice. I can only get it in Bluewater or London. I'm in Kent. I'm so craving their burgers with mushrooms 😋

Hi all, just catching up, this thread is making me so hungry! I've bought nacho cheese sauce from Morrisons but don't have anything to use it with so need to jump on the nacho trend. @PumpkinEverything your diet sounds dreamy 🤤

Glad your scans went well @MrsTD88 and @PumpkinEverything.

Thanks for thinking of me @Pancakes7 and @PumpkinEverything, I'll be glad when tomorrow is over. This week has been a bit of a struggle, my SIL has been in labour on and off all week and my anxiety went through the roof. Thankfully her beautiful baby girl arrived this morning, but I've been waking up in the middle of the night having nightmares about things going wrong for her, as well as the frequent miscarriage dreams I've had for the past few weeks. That, plus it's been 14 weeks since I lost my little boy, and I was 14 weeks when my waters went so it feels poignant. It'll be tricky when it gets to the point where I've lived without him longer than I carried him, but hopefully once tomorrow is out of the way and I have my scan on weds night I can try and focus on this pregnancy.

Bellabubble · 07/03/2021 15:51

@PumpkinEverything I’m so pleased it was all so positive! The build up is awful to a scan isn’t it!! I had another scan today too as my oh can’t come to my hospital one - I’m so glad we did as my husband got to see the scan as last time was more of a jelly bean blob, but he actually got to see a baby shape today ❤️ There was a lot of wriggling today, then a little nap with some hiccups!

Pancakes7 · 07/03/2021 15:57

@Bellabubble Aw wonderful. How many weeks are you now?

@imisscoffee That must be difficult. These milestones always are. Weirdly as I was busy thinking about this baby I actually forgot on my due date to think about it. It was 28th February. I guess that's a good thing.

PumpkinEverything · 07/03/2021 16:18

@imisscoffee nachos are so so good! We make them with quorn mince, refried beans and chopped tomatoes as well so they’ve actually got some ‘good’ elements to them too, and guacamole for the top as well as cheese and salsa! 😊
That sounds like such a stressful week for you! Hopefully the baby being born and all is okay is a bit of weight off for you too, and then you’ve just a few days to get by with scans and you can have a little bit of relief 😊

@Bellabubble that’s such a good scan photo! I’m still so amazed at how much they start to transform into looking like babies so quickly

MrsTD88 · 07/03/2021 17:05

@Bellabubble what a fab scan photo!

@imisscoffee it sounds like you've had a lot to worry about this week. Hopefully your scan comes around quickly and you can feel some relief

imisscoffee · 07/03/2021 17:21

Thanks lovelies. It's hard not telling people IRL about this pregnancy yet. We've got all the class back at work tomorrow so at least I'll be kept busy until the appointment at 2pm. We're going for a McDonald's after (it became a thing when we were back and forth from the hospital when everything happened, it's a coping mechanism 😂) so there's that to look forward to. Bit nervous for going back to the hospital, especially as I'll be sat with all the pregnant women waiting for scans while I wait for post mortem results, but thankfully my DH can come in and being pregnant again definitely helps.

@PumpkinEverything you had me at refried beans and guacamole 🤤🤤🤤

@Bellabubble lovely scan photo!

Firevie · 07/03/2021 17:31

@Bellabubble amazing scan pic! Yay!! How far along are you? What have your symptoms been so far? I think you said nausea ? Xxx

Bellabubble · 07/03/2021 17:59

@imisscoffee sorry you have had such a tough week! I know my 2 friends that had second trimester losses both said that they felt like their meetings with their consultants, and getting passed the number of weeks they had their losses at really made them feel like a weight had been lifted off their body, even though they were still grieving. I hope things get more stress free for you as the days go by! I’m looking forward to my class all being back tomorrow :)

@Pancakes7 I’m 11+1 which adds up with my ovulation tracking app too! @Firevie I have pretty much only had nausea, a constant sickness feeling like I have a really bad hangover. That and a loss of appetite - I haven’t enjoyed food for a while!

vitaminb33 · 07/03/2021 18:22

That's a lovely scan photo @Bellabubble!

@imisscoffee that sounds really tough, all the best for tomorrow (me and my partner also used McDonald's as 'hard day' food 😅 sometimes when bad things happen you just need a milkshake).

Thank you @Pancakes7 @PumpkinEverything @MrsTD88 - the 3+ is definitely a little reassuring, I've taken the plunge and booked a scan for the 28th (I should be 8 weeks then).

Thankfully the scan clinic is in a converted barn in the middle of nowhere so I'm hoping the lack of hospital-ness will help me stay calm.

NorthernGirl1991 · 07/03/2021 20:02

Is anyone else not booking an early private scan? I’m not because that’s where I found out about my MMC last time and can’t face going there again, but it feels like an eternity until my NHS scan (I’ll be 7 weeks tomorrow)

Smurf123 · 07/03/2021 20:07

@PumpkinEverything so happy for you that the scan went well!!
It's not often to find another ni person on threads! 🙂We tried to go to five guys last week only for the tills to be down so they couldn't open 😫 we have just ordered pizza for dinner.. I'm too tired to even think about cooking.. But I'm very thankful for the gorgeous (but cold) weather today!
