Sorry I'm gatecrashing but 3madboys has popped into the Due Feb a couple of times and I remembered she had her scan this week so was checking to see how she got on!

Congratulations - another boy! If you change your name to 4madboys in March I might have to steal 3madboys as that's what I'll have by then!!

daisynova · 12/10/2007 20:36

Congrats 3MadBoys - another boy! You'll have your hands full!

turtle23 · 12/10/2007 20:49

HQ-don't worry...remembered it wasn't you and remembered what it was!

oh god i am sooo tired today

i feel awful had a really funny turn in sainsburys, i was pushing dd in her pushchair, thankfully asleep and felt hot then faint, when i knelt down by the buggy the aisle floor felt so cool i wanted to lie down and sleep! I got very shakey and was so scared i was going to start vomiting but managed to find a corner and drink some juice before going home.

i then got very upset as the pregnancy was awful with dd and i never went anywhere alone but i cant bear being cooped up with a toddler.

turtle23 · 13/10/2007 19:02

oh littleducks..poor you! Hope it was a one-off! Always make sure I have water and emergency carrier bag...you never know...

back from hols in Northumberland, fantastic cottage right on the beach...cue panic of DH as I scrambled down steep "garden" cliffface to the sand 3 times a day with the dog! Absolutely knackered now due to driving about 1000 miles in a week, 450 of them today. Pelvis is playing merry hell, so am rubbing my pressure points as discretely as poss to ease the pain!
E14, think it was you waking up with the hip pain? Have a prod along your pubic bone and see if you have any tender spots there, if it's your pelvis you're likely to have pain either side of the PB and need to press/rub the sore spots at the front for 10-15 secs about 3 times a day. Also makes my heels painful so walking a chore, but rubbing the pressure points helps!

4madboys, brilliant you had a relaxed scan, mine's tomorrow when i hope we get to see a bit more than the 12 wk one. Only get 1 photo though - even if you pay for more you only get multiple copies of the same pic so better make it a good one! Can't wait to find out what we're havning, kicks have been getting more obvious in the last week and DH felt movement too...mind you, he thought my tummy felt more like the washing machine on full spin

Glad you all had a good meet up, doubt I'll be able to make xmas either due to the distance involved, but maybe some of us will bump into each other at the baby show next week?

fitnforty · 13/10/2007 22:47

doh, must remember today is still Saturday and my scan is on Monday, which is not tomorrow

hellyberry · 14/10/2007 07:29

In hospital since sat. Severe mystery abdo pain. Good drugs helping. Baby kicking lots. Wish was after. Want to go home. From phone x

imjin100 · 14/10/2007 09:38

oh hellybelly, really hope you're out and about soon and they look after you well in the meantime - how horrible for you.
Fitnforty what a great holiday that sounds like and how exciting to be returning for your scan...good luck and enjoy it and return to us very soon with the good news.

I'm pretty shattered today, out till 12.30 last night celebrating the rugby, managed to drag DH away but only just as he'd have gone on all night - I adore him but I think post multiple ciders he possibly forgets that I haven't had a drink so the chat gets a little dull!!

Relaxed day, thought we might go for a walk and a pub lunch, trying one local to us for a change - it's in pram pushing distance so could become our favourite outing we figure!

Hope everyone has very happy sundays and all those who aren't feeling too well are on the mend.

turtle23 · 14/10/2007 11:16

Get well soon, hellybelly!

gipsymama · 14/10/2007 13:37

hi all fellow mad march mums. i'm due on 6 March with my second. i'm a long-time lurker/infrequent poster on here but i love it! I can totally agree with the time dragging aspect of things. My 20-week scan is on Thursday but it might as well be the twelfth of never, it has taken so long to get here. There was a small but potentially serious heart anomaly in LO picked up at the 12 week and we're having an extra scan with a cardio specialist on Thurs to check if it's sorted itself out. These last 8 weeks have snailed past. I'm told there's a 95% chance that all will be well but still have been fretting...

I also agree with the itchy nipples comments, merryberry and others! I have to restrain myself from just having a good old root about in there in public. Sometimes at work it gets so bad i have to take myself off to the loo and pat some cold water on them!

Well, hugs and chicken soup to those who are under the weather right now. Looking forward to hearing lots of good 20-week scan stories coming up.

PS Anyone know - is all cough medicine a definite no-no to take right now? Or are there any natural cough remedy alternatives you can recommend other than hot milk and honey which I am guzzling (because I love it) but which has little long-lasting effect?

fitnforty · 14/10/2007 13:49

Hellybelly, get well soon, good news that the baby is kicking well though!

Hi gipsymama- it's expensive, but try Manuka honey (at least 10+ strength) with some lemon juice and hot water. Or even just sip the honey from the spoon if you like the taste enough, it's a natural antiseptic and some hospitals even use it now on small wounds to help them heal! You can get it in Tesco/Sainsbury but haven't seen it in Asda so obviously too posh for them

Have just had a wonderful night's sleep back in my own bed after the tossing and turning of the last week trying to get comfy on a different mattress. I love my Tempur mattress so much I can't sleep well without it, esp. nowadays! Have spent over an hour from hell in Asda as we didn't have any food in. Think from now on I'm doing internet food shopping where poss and never going back there on a weekend...everyone was bumping into me left right and centre so will spend the rest of today with my feet up!

turtle23 · 14/10/2007 15:23

Have suddenly plunged into craving land. Crispy food! Green apples, carrots, and when I was so hungry I couldn't move the other day I had a McD's burger(ick) and the gherkins were so crispy I went back in and got some more. Apparently I am not the first pregnant lady to do so! Oh and mexican food. Am currently in love with bean burritos and fajitas. By the tonne! mmmmmmmm

hello

good luck for your scan fitnforty, hope you get some good pics, thats a pita that they only give you multiple copies of the same pic, our hospital gives lots of diff pictures, which is great.

welcome gipsymama and good luck for your scan

hope you are ok hellyberry and get to go home soon xxx

i cant believe how wriggly this baby is, or how strong his kicks are given that i am 20 and a bit weeks, dp can feel them when i am lying down, and even the sonographer said he was a very strong baby crazy, but its very reassuring.

also, tmi maybe, but has anyone noticed that their baby is more wriggly, just after sex? this little one seems to go a bit mad afterwards, but from what i have read they are supposed to get a nice hormone buzz? i just wondered whether the baby may or may not like the way it seems to make my uterus tighten up?

MarchMum · 14/10/2007 17:38

I see we've all descended into the second trimester horny phase the books warn about :.)

Congrats to 4madboys and get better hellyberry!

I am looking forward to our scan this thursday - we're both dying to find out sex (much to our family's chagrin) and I am finding myself needing a little reassurance that all is OK, seems to long since we've seen LO.

My friends had a lovely 'yay you are having a baby tea' on Saturday which was nice - evolved into watching rugby and drinks until 1:30 which I actually stayed up for. Yay once more for 2nd trimester!

Anyone going to the baby show on friday? I am going early Friday AM and would love to have someone to walk around with if you there...MM

e14mum · 14/10/2007 17:51

Hi girls,

We've just come back from a wedding in the Cotswolds which was lovely.

I swear I've come home with more than I left with though- a proper bump! It literally grew overnight (LO must have been enjoying yummy food and champagne) and DH even noticed the difference. (19 weeks today and scan in 2 weeks, can't wait! )

fitnforty, thanks for the advice. I've adjusted my sleeping positions and have been using pillows for support and that's made a huge difference. I think I just panicked after googling SPD and reading what it can be like!

Hope those who aren't well are recovering. E x

turtle23 · 14/10/2007 18:32

Is it too early to be having Braxton Hicks? Am assuming that is what this is...tightening strangeness.
Am having hard time again with DH and wondering whether LO is protesting!

OP posts:
fitnforty · 14/10/2007 19:25

just had a thought - the anomoly scan, is it just the scan or do you tend to have all the blood tests, bp measured etc again? Just realised I have to find a suitable container if i need to bring a urine sample!

3madboys · 14/10/2007 19:32

i took a pot of wee with me as i thought i would see a midwife, but they said, no its just the scan at 20wks, so i neednt have bothered with the wee, typical that i try to be organised i guess it may vary depending on your health authority? and i am sure that with the last three i had a midwife check etc with the scan, i def did with my twelve week scan,n o bloods either time tho

good luck xxx

turtle as long as the tightenings dont hurt then i would say they are normal, if you are worried you can always get checked out by our midwife tho i have noticed some tightenings ,when i have been busy running around afte the boys or ummm after sex but they dont last very long and are not painful, am thinking of you turtle xxx

MerlinsBeard · 14/10/2007 19:48

ours is just a scan, i have MW the day after to which i will need to take a sample

wierd question...when you take your samples in, do you get your pot back(either empty or not) with ds1 i can't rememeber but know that with ds2 i got the pot back with wee in it still. finding it hard to remember to get a new pot when i leave the surgery!

3madboys · 14/10/2007 19:50

my midwife empties the pot, rinses it and gives it back to me, bleurghhhhhhhh i try to get a new one from reception, but forgot last time.

fitnforty · 14/10/2007 19:54

very envious of you lot with the raging hormones, my DH hasn't had a look in since he participated in the conception, and I most definitely haven't felt any urge to go at it like hammer and tongs!

Marchmum - am going on Saturday to the baby show as it's too awkward to get there from wales on Friday! Have fun and tell us the gossip on bargains as soon as you get back (before i leave early morning!)

4madboys, will check my notes to see if it says anything diff, probably better take a sample just in case! Got such a long list of things to do tomorrow/tues, better make a list as i forget within a minute or 2

Threw a wobbly in the park this evening when we were walking the dog, complained about my aching bits and stretchy ligaments and DH said loads of footballers would kill for those...promptly burst into tears that he wasn't taking my pain seriously and he felt very contrite

monthlymayhem · 14/10/2007 21:03

Hello all, hope you've had a good weekend!

Get better soon Hellyberry, and hello gipsymama

I've been spending the day tidying, re-organising our loft, nursery-to-be, and have bags of clothes ready for the charity shop. I seriously still had clothes in the back of a cupboard from when I was 18

Now that we've got the nursery cleared out it just needs painted and we're swithering whether or not to replace the carpet...we're hoping to move this time next year so don't want to spend money where we don't need to...

My other discovery this weekend has been an alternative to getting a cotbed - called a 'nature's nest' (made by Amby). I've only seen them on their website but they look fantastic and all the reviews I've read have been very positive. Has anyone seen these in the flesh, or have any experience of whether they're any good or not? From all the info I've read, they're supposed to imitate being in the womb for babies and can help LO to sleep better - and they can be used up to 12 months! Any opinions gratefully received!

Off now to put my feet up, have a Solero smoothie and chill

piekin · 14/10/2007 21:29

Re. belly tightenings, I've had this a lot, and sometimes seems like my tummy goes all hard, and it feels a bit uncomfy although not painful, anyone else had it?

Paranoid1stTimer · 14/10/2007 23:48

Feeling very jealous of all you getting 20 week scan. I am in Glasgow and the nhs doesn't think they need to bother wasting us taxpayers money on 20 week scans so if I don't cough up some hard earned cash for a private scan, I won't see our little un until he or she decides to make their own way out of me and into the big bad Glasgow air!!!

MW agrees it is totally disgraceful but what can they do? I think it would make everything more "real" and just to see the wee baby to make sure it's ok would be so reassuring.... but I guess stuff like.... Ach - I won't get into any political commentary just in case.... It is pretty darn annoying
