Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials timmy As regards your outfit I think you should wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. Your outfit sounds lovely. You could always jazz it up with some glitzy accessories if you feel it's a little plain. Most importantly, I'm sure you'll look a million dollars whatever you wear.

turtle23 · 20/11/2007 21:20

I just freecycled an old computer desk and man turned up to get it with a nearly immaculate Urban Detour three-wheeler buggy in tow. Cried when he said he'd brought it along to swap. I don't really like three wheel buggies, but so nice to have an extra to keep at the grandparents' or for when baby explodes all over the one that I bought YESTERDAY!

timmy - ooh how exciting! how about this dress?. Purple, blue, pink or black? It comes in lovely packaging, will make getting it special. you'd get a few months wear then they have great resale value if you want to pass it on? so 90 quid for the frock, then a couple pair of mat tights maybe? shoes and jewellery of your own or borrowed?

merryberry · 21/11/2007 09:21

and you have ot have a virtual wedding we can attend... i've already chosen my hat style, orange or yellow, everyone?

fitnforty · 21/11/2007 09:28

timmy - congrats for the big day, you'll look wonderful whatever you decide to wear!

merry - i think orange, in keeping with the nursery theme

merryberry · 21/11/2007 09:33

yes, giant orange hat. should erm, balance/distract from the bump (not a problem) and massive expanding arse (problem)

HolidaysQueen · 21/11/2007 09:58

timmy - congratulations on your wedding! How exciting - just before Christmas as well!

It may be worth looking on eBay - I have just bought a lovely maternity dress for a black tie Christmas do - black, floaty fabric, with sparkly bits and deepcut v neck to show off the pregnancy cleavage . It was brand new, still with labels, for only £30!

Otherwise I spotted a lovely teal dress in Mamas & Papas last night. It was silky so looked luxurious but wasn't too fancy. Looks like it is reduced on their website. They also have other party tops and dresses so there might be something there which works as a wedding outfit.

Make sure you post pictures of you and DH and DSDs on your big day!!!! Wedding photos will be enough to set any pregnant woman off into floods of tears

Hello everyone - just got back from 10 days on the other side of the pond and missed you all. Spent this AM's coffee hour reading through the posts.

Interesting discussion about the alcohol. I drink in manner of what Holidays Queen described. I also try and have water and food with my wine/half pint. I don't have any guilt about that small amount but it was interesting to be around my Canadian friends last weekend who, surprisingly are told no alcohol whatsoever, including pre-conception!! That is just mad not to mention that how are people supposed to conceive if they are not drunk, ha ha, JK! So I didn't drink around them to avoid any awkwardness. I usually think of the Americans as a bit puritanical but surprised to see the same in the Cdns.

But more importantly I had a great trip, picked up a ton of maternity/baby clothes from friends and family and did a bunch of shopping to fill in the rest -- with the exchange the prices are unbelieveable. I went with two empty suitcases and brought back 3 full ones. I have your Triscuits, turtle and a canadian surprise for e14 mum :.) 10 days on the road was a bit tiring but all in all, LO and I did well. I noticed she didn't move as much on the trip - almost as if she was tired or maybe a bit shy. It was so nice to see friends and family and have them touch the bump and see me pg. LO had a growth spurt just before we left so there was thankfully something to show off.

When I got back yesterday, I slept for 16 hours so there must have been some residual effects but I was thinking in a couple weeks, it would have been harder. Do you realise we are approaching the third trimester - yikes! Now that I am feeling fully stocked, it's time to start the next two big tasks -- nursery and picking a name.

Hope everyone is feeling good and having a good week! MM

ClaphamLauren · 21/11/2007 11:23

Oooh Ugly Betty is back on tonight, 9pm on E4!

Maybe last week was just a blip...

e14mum · 21/11/2007 12:54

Glad your trip went well mm! Thanks in advance for thinking of me...

turtle23 · 21/11/2007 12:55

Hope everyone is well.

My cold finally seems to have gone - partly thanks to loads of chilli-laced chicken soup!

I will have to bite the bullet and buy some maternity tops sooner rather than later. All my tops are riding up at the front now, so I had to put a load more of my clothes in the loft.

preggersagain · 21/11/2007 15:39

pq- use boob tubes to cover the belly gap also very useful for breast feeding whilst not showing off a post baby jelly belly!

twins are having a wild day today haven't stopped booting me since 2am- still its nice to feel them moving

looks like i am finally shaking off my cold too- i seem to have had it since i found out i was pregnant- sneezing recently has become slightly worrying

this thread has got HUGE- does anyoe fancy starting a new one? i would but i don't have the imagination to think of a suitably witty title

HolidaysQueen · 21/11/2007 15:44

On the subject of babies moving, mine has been very quiet the past few days. Is this normal? He/she was very active at the back end of last week and on Saturday, but then I got quite bad tummy pains on Sunday while swimming (had to stop) and since then I've had kicks and stuff but not quite as many as before. I have my scan and midwife tomorrow so will ask then, but I've got myself a bit worried. He/she is still moving at the same times of day (evenings and night time, first thing in the morning then only occasionally during the day) but just not quite as much as last week. I'm only 22 weeks so guess the baby is still not quite big enough to be making loads of commotion and maybe he/she has just shifted position a bit. What does anyone think?

PurlyQueen · 21/11/2007 15:45

I scooped up boob tubes for £1 in every colour from Primark in the sales last summer! I just forgot to put one on today and am now seriously regretting it .

Baby seems to be kicking for England now - although it feels like a cross between a tickle and a flutter.

MerlinsBeard · 21/11/2007 16:00

HQ..good luck for your scan tomo...finally!!!

movements wise, they can differ from day to day really. May be down to baby's position or placenta position. maybe baby is lying facing your back so you wouldn't feel movements in that case?

PurlyQueen · 21/11/2007 16:01

Fear not, holidays queen
Mine does exactly the same thing - today s/he is wriggling like crazy and on other days (such as ultrasound scan days) s/he is as quiet as a mouse.
I bet we'll be looking back on these days with nostalgia when our babies are booting us in the ribs or we are necking down Gaviscon because of acute indigestion

3madboys · 21/11/2007 16:13

another vote for the boob tubes here, they are great, tho next and topshop sell proper maternity bands or something which are the same, i got some with some maternity jeans of ebay and they have been a god send

my bump has def popped out this last week, so i look preg its quite a neat bump, and measured the right size but apparently the baby feels big, they said it was big at the 20wk scan tho and the last two were both over 9lb so i am not suprised.

i went away last wkend to london with friends, leaving the boys with dp and mil, i had a GREAT time, but was knackerd afterwards, and getting lots of braxton hicks, saw the midwife today and she said it was normal, esp as this is my 4th pregnancy.

i am now 26wks and have to see her again in 4 wks, cant believe how quickly this pregnancy is going.

hope everyone is well, xxxxxx

imjin100 · 21/11/2007 16:30

HQ - I second/third what has been said - mine differs a lot and when I saw the doctor yesterday she reassured me - no such thing as normal, you get to know your own baby over time. I have to admit, without wanting to be overly worried, I am at my happiest when the lo is awake, moving and kicking me. The hours in between can seem a long time.
I was also amazed on the scan how much the baby moves and I still wasn't feeling a thing - you'll be fine.
How exciting - I looked forward to it so much until 24 hours before and was then horribly nervous so stay calm and enjoy it!
Glad colds on their way out - it's a bit grim I know and seems a bit harsh being pregnant and getting a cold but glad on the mend to all.

Happy days. Back at work today - not enjoying it much but only an hour to go.

imjin100 · 21/11/2007 16:33

merryberry - just read your story - that's hilarious and definitely something I can equate too on a daily basis - but usually with much less amusing errors!
Monthly mayhem - I am equally amused.

the past postings are keeping me occupied!

HolidaysQueen · 21/11/2007 16:34

Thanks everyone. I knew I would get reassurance here! I think it was just that the quieting down coincided with my aches and pains when swimming so I was a bit worried. The baby has also realised I need a bit of help and just given me a good kick as if to say "stop being daft, mum" or (more likely) "can we go home yet? i'm bored of work"

I'll let you know how the scan goes - only 23 hours to go... Hopefully we'll also find out if I'm adding to the blue or pink side

spugs · 21/11/2007 16:35

piggy - i too am loving jacket spuds and cheese, have it every day for lunch

holiday - mine has periods of being quiet and its normal, i have an anterior placenta with this baby asnd it definitly makes a difference.

had check up today, baby measuring 2 weeks behind but im very tall so thats prob the reason. also have high blood pressure 150/88 when its normally 110/60 ish! not sure why but there not checking me again for another 6 weeks so it cant be that bad.

e14mum · 21/11/2007 17:22

Topshop bump bands are £5 and come in black and white. I can't recommend them high enough! They are fantastic. Also, they kind of hold you in around the hips and make me feel less sore.
