3mad...thankyou. They aren't painful at all, just bizarre. They were almost certainly brought on by sex. I appreciate the support. x

MonthlyMayhem - I've bought an Amby Natures Nest after it being recommended by a friend of mine who's exact words were that it "saved her life". It seems to make sense that it would work and I like the fact they can't roll over in it so it lowers the risk of SIDS too.

Also, it's not ridiculously expensive so I'm willing to take a risk on it. My pushchair has a carrycot that can be used as a moses basket so that's always there as a back up! I'm so gutted that my health service don't do a scan until 24 weeks - I'm desperate to see my LO again. Is anyone else thinking of doing a 3D scan?

I'm finally starting to feel a bit better and more mobile which is great - wasn't posting a huge amount on here as I was the grumpiest person alive!! Hope you feel better soon hellyberry and any others who aren't feeling great xx

preggersagain · 15/10/2007 10:11

wow you lot have been chatty!! and as for bumps- i look like i've swallowed a football and keep getting stuck in various poses because i keep forgetting

i am scheduled to be at the baby show this weekend working for Stokke, but it is a bit precarious atm- spd has struck and i'm having difficulty getting up and down stairs with any grace and dignity so i'm not sure running around showing off xplory's will do me much good! But i will be there even if i'm not working- just look for the little lady with a BIG bump stuck in a doorway or doing something else equally stupid!

hope everyone's doing ok-ish, scans are all looming now- i can't wait to find out what flavour these are- i swing on a daily basis from thinking they are girls to thinking they are boys- still not convinced either way

spugs · 15/10/2007 10:26

hi everyone, congrats on the scan 3madboys good luck to everyone else with them this week. mines not for another 3 weeks which seems ages away - sayin that though cant believe im 17 weeks already. keep having litle panics and thinking crap going to have another baby (even though baby planned, much wanted etc)

hellyberry · 15/10/2007 10:31

From phone. Still in hospital. Waiting for some fancy scan to find seat of infection or swelling. Feel major better on anti b's tho. Want to go home! Miss my boys.

hellyberry · 15/10/2007 10:44

Pie- that is just how i would describe braxton hicks contractions

Prisci · 15/10/2007 12:51

Hi Everyone,

Back from holidays on a red eyes...completely chattered but had a great time and feel much better mentally as I finally spend more than 3 days in a row with DP. So
just locked myself in the office to catch up on emails...but could not help checking the threads....work will wait....

If anyone is going to the states soon...I bought a breast pump, Baby Bjorn, Bugaboo Cameleon (£450 new) ....most things are 20% of or more, and if you can be bothered to bring the pushchair, they don't charge you extra luggage etc...if you play the sensitive cord , so definitely worth it. If you like Gap it is also almost half the UK price.

Got annoyed thought, were buying some baby grow and DP kindly said we were expecting and the lady did not want to believe us...since there is little sign of a bump yet...funnily enough she was 2 weeks further than I am and showing properly...I really can't wait...

Any special date set for a Xmas meeting? It would really be great if we could all meet! Suggestions wise: What about Divertimenti on Marylebone road, it is usually not that busy, and we should be able to reorganize the seating or the cafe at John Lewis, it is rarely busy and perfect for some comparative shopping etc...

CL I hope you are ok!
Daisynova welcome.
Mad 3, congratulation!!!

A great week to everyone?

PS: Prisci is short for Priscillia...not very original....

sorry ignore the bottom bit...issue with messaging..must be the jet-lagg.

turtle23 · 15/10/2007 14:00

EEk...just ben for YET ANOTHER bra fitting. Was a 34C just weeks ago and am now a...gulp...36E. When did this happen? Anyone would think that I have been overeating .
How is everyone else doing on the weight front? I have had to admit to myself today that I have gained exactly 10 kilos. Maybe my sudden fondness for burritos should be reigned in?

OP posts:
imjin100 · 15/10/2007 14:14

turtle, i'm about to go for another fitting as noticed I'm squeezing into my new one - oh to be just an e...I dread to think what I've gone up to and you're brave standing on the scales, I'm not going near mine. Personally I think all weight gain is ok....well within reason, and on a personal note my boobs weigh about double my own body weight so I think the scales could be a big shocking!

happy days to all.

imjin100 · 15/10/2007 14:43

and whilst we're on boobs mine I so itchy still, out of control and really sore now that I've actually itched them. DH and I sitting on my hands but considering getting camomile lotion, anyone tried it? anything to stop this!

turtle23 · 15/10/2007 14:48

imjin-you'll think I'm mad, but...put some porridge oats in a pop sock or equivalent and throw it in the bath. Have found it very helpful for my whole itchy body!

OP posts:
imjin100 · 15/10/2007 14:53

thanks turtle, like i said i'll try anything....cooked or raw?
I'm alone in the office for a while which is actually worse as means I can scratch to heart's content but have ended up bruising my boobs so know it's better to avoid going near them!

turtle23 · 15/10/2007 15:01

raw. Used to use it for my babies that had excema, and it only occurred to me the other day to try it for myself!! Moisturise constantly too.

OP posts:
gingercat12 · 15/10/2007 15:46

Oats sounds very good. I only use my stretchmark cream for my boobs. It is called Derma Mum, and is not exactly posh, but fragrance free which is very important for me.

Turtle I was very brave, too. I stood on the scales this weekend. Apparently I put on 5kg (not quite a stone) in the past 12 weeks. Which I can believe. But it also showed my DH has put 5 kg on. That is just not possible. He is so thin, his tummy is actually curving inward.

spugs · 15/10/2007 16:13

i put on my black work trousers to day and there a lot tighter over my bum and around my stomach, first thing that ive grown out of havent got weighed though, hate the fact that my bum growth matches that of my bump my boobs havent gone up again but they dont get massive ehen im preg, not itchy either though i do have lots of dry skin under my arms

Brazilianmum · 15/10/2007 16:18

Prisci thanks for the tips, we are off to Chicago next week and I will be doign lot's of baby shopping. What breast pump did you buy? I want an electric one.

Monthly, my friend had mentioned the hammock thing but I totally forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. I checked the website and it looks great.

My scan is on wednesday and I can't wait to find out what it is.

I will definitely be going to the baby show (managed to score some free tickets) but not sure when.

Brazilianmum · 15/10/2007 16:28

Forgot to say that I started feeling LO moving. It seems that since hitting the magic 20 weeks it's all happening. I can feel it kick which is strange, the kicks woke me up at 5am on Saturday, guess the baby is trying to get me used to waking up early.

Also some other strange things are happening, like I seem to have no short term memory and forget things the minute I hear/read them. Very annoying.

turtle23 · 15/10/2007 16:30

Just a question about the amby bed...does anyone else worry that once they start sitting up and pulling up that it looks very unsafe? Can't say I'm convinced.

OP posts:
imjin100 · 15/10/2007 17:24

I'm also not convinced by amby bed, I'm sure it does work but I fear it might just be another gimick...there seem to be many about!

Haven't felt my LO move since it leapt about on saturday night during therugby, hoping it's just having a quiet time to recover from the late night and it's mother who was leaping about and screaming till all hours. DH slightly concerned that LO responded with a kick every time Johnny W came on screen, I can't imagine why!

fitnforty · 15/10/2007 18:21

well, the 3 predictor quizzes were correct, our impending offspring is definitely male flavoured!
He spent the bulk of our scan time curled up in a ball or sticking feet out at peculiar angles. Had to get up and walk about for 10 mins to get him to shift position so they could see the heart chambers properly but everything was in proper working order.
I was really unsurprised to find out it was a boy though, I was almost expecting it - was i supposed to act surprised?

turtle23 · 15/10/2007 18:33

Congrats fit! Another boy for the group. I took all those tests as well and they all say girl...fingers crossed til the 7th!

Prisci · 15/10/2007 19:38

Brazilianmum, I got the Medela Swing, it was recommended by a friend, I also wanted an electric one but still did not want the full monty, this one seems to do it for me, I almost want to try it ....which is crazy really, isn't it?

Breast size wise, I have also had to move to a 34D in 10 days. I have the same thing with itchiness, aloe vera cream and Clarins Huile Tonic for strechmarks really seem to do the trick.

monthlymayhem · 15/10/2007 22:33

Lovely news fitnforty!

Paranoid1sttimer - I'm going to the RAH in Paisley and we do get a 20 week scan - it really is crap that you can be next door to each other and get different treatment...

ClaphamLauren - thanks for the feedback, I'm getting more convinced that I might buy one of the Amby nature nests too. One of the pram shops near my work stocks them so had a look at lunchtime today and they look really nice, and the concept seems to make sense. As for the potential for baby to sit up and pull it over, I was worried about that too turtle, but the base is so wide that it allows flexible movement without any risk (or at least it looks that way to me!). I'm going to post a thread on the pregnancy board and see if I can find anyone else who has +ve/-ve experince of using it before deciding for sure..

I've also made an appt with my midwife tomorrow. The last time I saw her was at 12 weeks and I'm now at 18 and have been getting loads of headaches and a few sharp twinges. It's probably all normal, but just want to rule out high blood pressure, as I did have a problem with it while on the contraceptive pill and it gave me the same kind of headaches.

Hope everyone has had a good start to the week
