Pregnancy brain...Went to take small nperson out today and cannot find work car car keys. Have my own, but carseat is in the other. Ok, can cope, will take train...small person shouts "no train!" but we plod on. 20 minutes later arrive at station to find handbag is still in house. Go back home to ring people we're meeting and have left mobile at station. Go back to station and pick up phone, get home to find haven't taken house keys with me. Luckily neighbour is home. Am I safe to be in charge of a small child?! I want to go back to bed!

Afternoon all! I can second the sore nips in cold weather, stingy is not the word

Also watched the pride of Britiain awards and sobbed my heart out. What made me laugh though was that my DP was at his mums for tea and came back in with a tear stained face - bless him, he had been watching it too and is a bit of a softy...and he's supposed to be a big, brave fireman

I am very to say that I managed to fall asleep twice at my desk in work yesterday. I'm pretty sure noone noticed, but I woke up both times with a start when my head had swung down to my boobs and nearly hit the desk!

We also got our first baby gift last night, a little pair of knitted booties - very cute! I'm trying to resist buying anything until after the 20 week scan which I've got in 2 weeks time, but I heard Mothercare has a sale on so might have a sneaky look tonight...

imjin100 · 11/10/2007 15:26

turtle, bless you - what a rotten day. You seem to have retained sense of humour which is very impressive. Hope the day improves!

Brazilianmum · 11/10/2007 15:51

Spugs, I started buying some bits. We went to the local NCT nearly new sale on Saturday and bought a few bits there. I've been keeping a list of all the tuff I need and the stuff I bought, but there's still so much to get.

I went to Hong Kong quite early on in preg and they had lovely bottles there so I bought a few and some toys too. Prob a bit OTT but I love shopping.

e14mum · 11/10/2007 16:09

Wow, I'll take one of those too merryberry.

Back to cheese and pickles- I finished off a big jar of gherkins last night while cooking tea. Have to trek out for some more later! (Have heard Lidl is great for proper german pickles, so may take a look)

DH and I are still umming and ahhing about whether to find out the sex at the next scan, but a friend advised me that there's less temptation to shop if you keep it a surprise!

3madboys · 11/10/2007 16:25

hello all, by this time tomorrow i will have had my scan and may know the sex i am nervous, but generally ok, i have childcare organised so dp and i can go on our own, and our babysitter is going to stick a chicken in the oven so we can come home to a roast dinner he is a star.

pushchair wise i have my bugaboo, and i also have a loola as it folds up more compactly for the boot, it is heavy tho, or at least it seems it at the mo when i use it for ds3, but he is getting huge now.

i was looking in the jojomamambebe catalogue last night, i may order some maternity jeans from them as i cant find any in my size in the shops, no hurry yet tho.

trying to book my driving test at the moment, well i have booked it, but its not till december, so i am checking every day for cancellations, i have got to pass the dam thing before baby arrives.

i will post tomorrow or saturday with news on my scan

hope everyone is well, take care.

preggersagain · 11/10/2007 16:27

good luck at the scan

daisynova · 11/10/2007 19:30

Hi girls,

Finding the nipple stories very amusing - mine are permanently like bullets at the moment - I could hang a coat on them!

It's the sleeping thing I have a problem with just now - I am sooo shattered all the time yet I can't sleep. Last night I didn't get to sleep until almost 6am, it's driving me insane.

glammama · 11/10/2007 19:36

Yep, the sleeping thing I can identify with. Plus all the nipple talk is reminding me of something Jo Brand said about her nipples when she was breastfeeding- "I could light the gas with mine" I could really relate to that
Anyone else, ahem, gagging for it? Poor DP! He doesn't know what's come over me! sorry! Well, there's no need to be coy on a thread like this is there? It's not as if we think the stork is bringing our babies. Seriously though, must be hormonal but it's my new obsession.

Moop · 12/10/2007 10:25

Hello everyone

I'm going back a bit - but agree with littleducks - the mw just isn't bothered! I find it disconcerting as first child and all that - you want a bit of support from the healthcare professional but it's like it's too much effort for her!

Went shopping yesterday and bought 3 dresses from Zara - stretchy things - I am reluctant to buy specifically maternity gear - not sure if it tempting fate or just that I see it as a waste of money - any advice on clothing?

Also - I am getting a slight tightening - don't know if it junior moop moving - it's nothing like butterflies that people have mentioned, so not sure.

Moop

Brazilianmum · 12/10/2007 12:27

I'm also not getting the butterflies. For a few days it was kind of like a ticklish feeling inside, but since yesterday I can def feel it moving. I was poking around my belly last night and could feel the baby and DP had a go as well.

The woke up at 5am as it was wriggling around. Guess it's getting me ready for the pace of things to come.

imjin100 · 12/10/2007 12:43

3madboys, if you log on before you go, good luck.
Feel like time is motoring along now that one of our team is having the scan. How exciting.

I thought I'd felt the imjin baby but now i'm not so sure! I'm 19+5 and scan not for a couple of weeks so will hold out worrying until then....

happy friday all.....it's friday....friday friday....

have quiet night in with dh tonight and can't wait. Plan to wear pj's the moment I get home and lounge about. hurray.

hellyberry · 12/10/2007 13:16

the above namechange is my feek and weeble halloween one. someone already got hellybelly. boo.

spugs · 12/10/2007 14:09

imj - you have started up my pushchair obsession with your thread im going to drag my sis off at the weekend to look at some. just need to be 30 ish weeks so i can. get it.

i think i can feel this one wriggle but not sure, ill only belive it when i see my skin move which was 18 weeks with the last 2

imjin100 · 12/10/2007 14:17

spugs, I'm finding it very helpful the other thread if a little daunting....so many ideas but as you say we've got a bit of time till we have to decide.

Moving skin...now there's a thought?! Can't imagine that - how exciting!

3madboys · 12/10/2007 14:39

aghhhhhhh an hour till my scan, i feel sick i am so nervous, but hopefully all will be well

glamma, i am the same with all my pregnancies, gagging for it, dp has on occasion moaned, but for the most part he is happy to go along with it

will try and log on this evening and let you all know how it went and maybe even tell you the sex, have a nice weekend everyone

daisynova · 12/10/2007 15:50

I am sure that I can feel the baby move inside me as I am having some unexplained twinges - it's not like butterflies and if it was, I think I would puke as they scare me!!!

I'm only 15+2 so is that too early to be feeling anything?

P.S. I'm in the March antenatal club as I will be induced early incase anyone is wondering!

ClaphamLauren · 12/10/2007 16:09

I've been having lots of movements, I'm 19 weeks today, my due date is 4th March according to my maternity notes so I was totally out. Really must pay attention. It's really weird and exciting, some of them have been quite sharp kicks and I was asking the doctor at hospital yesterday what the pain was I kept feeling and felt very silly when she said it was the baby kicking!

Had to go back to hospital yesterday and I was seen by the labour ward not A&E - terrifying waiting in there, the sounds coming from the delivery rooms. Eeek! Was told yesterday due to the damage done from my fall it's unlikely I'll be able to have a natural birth so I'm probably going to end up with a Feb baby but I'm staying here.

Hope everyone is well, good luck 3madboys for your scan!

3madboys · 12/10/2007 17:18

back from the scan and all was well the hospital was really quiet so the sonographer made sure she gave us a really good look at the baby, we saw its little nostrils and lips etc, all the organs etc, the scan was really detailed and we got some lovely pics, including one of baby sucking HIS thumb

yep its a BOY, no doubting it, it was very obvious when she scanned that area. so now we can think of names, its a bit odd as we didnt find out with the other three, but i like knowing and have a huge grin on my face, so in a few months i will have to change my name to 4madboys

imjin100 · 12/10/2007 17:34

am SO thrilled to hear your good news and how lovely to have another boy. Our greatest friends have 4 boys and she wouldn't have it any other way and they are all growing up as great friends....
congratulations and enjoy the weekend.

hellyberry · 12/10/2007 17:54

a boy! congratulations

claphamlauren, have you done some proper damage then? did you break something, did you have an xray? what a sod that is. are you coping with the pain ok now?

piekin · 12/10/2007 19:09

Congrats 3Mad! I can't wait to find out the sex so that I can call baby a proper name instead of it!DP just interupted - he cals it little tyke!
As for the nipples, totally get thet one, mine are agony as soon as they get cold and stay like it for ages!
Haven't bought anything yet and won't until I know the sex I think, also need reassured by the next scan that everything is o.k.
Have also felt a tightening but no real moves yet.
Good luck to everyone in the trials and tribulations this week!
love, Piekin.x

turtle23 · 12/10/2007 19:12

Holidayqueen...what was the name of the insurance company you mentioned?

I am 16+5 weeks and I have been thumped several times daily from turtle jr. It cannot be anything but kicking! Less than four weeks til my scan!

Congrats to 4madboys!

hi moop, thats a real shame but some midwives are crazy busy, last time round i was under a surestart team who were excellent so im not worried as i asked EVERY question imaginable last time, and one of my midwives has set up a private complementry care practice for women who just want more rime with a midwife than they are getting on the nhs (so there must be demand!)

Im going shopping with my mum next weekend for some podgy but not true maternity clothes!
