Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
glammama · 08/10/2007 19:06

Just realised looked like I was saying everyone but daisynova have a nice evening. No, no, no. Daisy I hope you have the best evening of us all.

tori32 · 08/10/2007 19:19

I like the way the children are brough up too glammamamma!

glammama · 08/10/2007 19:21

I'm on fire tonight, tori! I'm blaming low blood sugar

tori32 · 08/10/2007 19:28

Fantastic! enjoy your evening!

skidoodle · 08/10/2007 19:38

Hi guys, welcome daisynova

Lauren, so glad to hear you're doing OK and getting the care you need. Still quite shocked by what that GP advised. Just want to add to the chorus of people wondering why you're at work when you may have a broken bone in your back/hip and are on meds. Nice work on the buggy/pram thoug

I think I most envy the fact that it's a done deal, I'm really quite confused about what to get. We also went to John Lewis and had a quick look around. DH got very excited about the Quinny (buzz?) ["oooh, it has such a small turning circle" ] and so I thought we might get that one, but then Brazilianmum told us about the tipping over thing, so now I'm wondering about the 3-wheel McLaren, but have to see about how heavy it is.

BTW I tried to guess who was who in the meet up photo and I got 1 right - derah. You look exactly as I would have imagined you, which is kind of weird. It's shame I won't get to meet any of you at such meets, but it's fun to see the pictures. Although also kind of disconcerting to see you are really real people.

I finally told work about being pregnant, which is just a HUGE relief. I feel more pregnant now, because now it's not a secret from anyone. I'm also starting to show a tiny bit although not that much.

Saw some old friends over the weekend and was pestered endlessly about possible names. I gave nothing away, but they had lots of "hilarious" suggestions based around my DH's surname.

OK enough blather from me. have a good evening all. talk soon.

daisynova · 08/10/2007 19:44

Glammama - I knew what you meant so don't worry about it! It's weird to think that kids here are the happiest when they are all little toerags! They get away with murder and I would quite happily string them up at times!!

We finish up here before the baby would get a chance to figure out whether or not the UK is better compared to Amsterdam so it doesn't really matter for us. I just hate it here as I don't have my family or friends near me. I miss them

derah · 08/10/2007 19:56

Skid - that's so funny that you "knew" what I look like!

monthlymayhem · 08/10/2007 23:01

Hi Ladies - and hello to Daisynova

Glad to hear you're ok Lauren, but like others - why are you at work - go home!!!

Thanks Preggers for the tip re the Silver Cross weight, will need to go back and look into that (there was too much to consider all in one visit).

I can't remember who mentioned pains, but I've also had dull aches, and some nasting knitting needle pains on Saturday after lots of walking, but apparently it's all normal and nothing to worry about.

I finally got my hands on my new doppler today - it took a little while to find the heartbeat, but once I did it was fab to hear Will now need to stop myself from over using it!

I also got really good news at work today, so all in all it's been a fab day!!

derah · 08/10/2007 23:18

Ugh, enthusiasm for new fridge has worn off!! Took DH until 10pm to switch the doors around, and we've only just finished heaving it into position and heaving the old one out of the door! Plus water, polystyrene and other mess everywhere.

But it is pretty!! Even though it's bigger then the old one it makes the kitchen look bigger and brighter, probably because it's white instead of dull silver.

And there's so much room inside!

OK, enthusiasm back again!

Moop · 09/10/2007 08:44

Hello everyone

sorry I missed your meet up and would very much like to come to the next one. I am coming up to the 20 w scan soon and will be glad to get to it!

Having had a couple of m/c's and some pain and stuff this time - I find myself worrying about every twinge - went to London yesterday and did a fair amount of walking - had a tight feeling, can't describe - maybe like stomach ache? Anyone else getting this sort of thing?

Moop

glammama · 09/10/2007 08:48

Morning,
Moop if I had a pound for every twinge, pain or sore bit I'd be a blinking millionaire! It seems that a lot of us are getting more pain after exercise. I think usually it's just ligament and joint stretching/moving. I understand, though, last night I had quite breathtaking pains in my left side. And of course, I had the agonising boob last week! It's mostly all normal but go with your instinct. If you are worried, speak to your MW. It is usually nothing though.

Moop · 09/10/2007 08:49

Hi again

sorry couldn't work out how to link from other thread - so have just repeated myself!

I am find time dragging a lot - I am 18 w and feel like this has already been going on forever! Having had 2 m/c's in the last year and consciously TTC I have been focused on this since the very beginnning and what with some pain and difficulties and anxiety over scanning and importantly, not being at work - time is just dragging.

This is our first child and though I know now that there is a 95% chance that everything is going to work out - I still can't quite picture it. DH said when we came back from the 12w scan that I told his mom as if I had just been to the dentist - not understanding that given things that have happened it does take time to adjust and believe that this will go through to the end everyone wants.

Things are not helped by me occasionally fretting about after the birth and DH's parents wanting to stay at our flat - I am almost 40 and I am worrying about his mom and dad!

sorry just a moan!

Moop

glammama · 09/10/2007 09:02

You moan away, Moop. We all get a turn here! Pregnancy can be a strange time for a lot of women, with unexpected ambivalance and anxiety. In fact the only normal thing about pregnancy is that very often you feel very unnormal! I don't want to say abnormal! Do you have any first time mums in RL you can talk to? Time might seem to drag now but I guarantee one day very soon you will look back and think, whooo, where did the time go? If you can, do lots of things now which will be harder come March. I.e, lie-ins, cinema trips and outings on impulse .
Anytime you need to offload just come on this thread!
Now, please could someone kick my arse off the PC? I have so much housework to do

e14mum · 09/10/2007 10:44

Morning all!

Skidoodle, my DH got really excited about the Quinny Buzz too when we went to JL to look- same sort of thing, "look at the turning circle!". Maybe that one appeals to men more- I don't like it myself!

Glammama, I hope you're gettin down and dirty with the housework!

Brazilianmum · 09/10/2007 11:19

The tipping over problem is with the Quinny Zapp as all the wheels are the same size. But I got chatting to someone at the NCT sale who was pushing a Quinny Buzz and she really likes it, though she said folded down it won't fit into a samll car boot, so you have to take the wheels off.

MotherCare has a new buggy called the bugster, but it's not in stores yet. I want to have a look at it to see if we like it.

Meet up photo here

monthlymayhem · 09/10/2007 11:26

Moop, I know what you mean about time dragging - if I have a quiet week it feels as if I'm never going to get to the next week. My SIL is due in 6 weeks time, and then Chrsitmas is just really round the corner, so I bet once all of the Christmas shopping, nights out and general mayhem start the time will fly and before we know it, it will be January and we'll only have 2 months to go and asking where the time's gone!

merryberry · 09/10/2007 12:55

i turn 40 just 5 weeks before my due date. i really cannot imagine how to celebrate it. and i do feel good about it.

well obviously, i'd love a mahoosive lurid eternity ring dripping in bling but that sort of thing won't fit then...

first pregnancies do go slow IME. especially when you long so very hard for a good outcome, and need the waiting over moop.

3madboys · 09/10/2007 13:08

bump is wriggly today dp felt it moving for the first time last night

my 29th bday is in jan, 6wks before due date, so no piss up for me then and then for my 30th i will still be bfeeding etc and baby will be too little to do anything big, but i guess i will go out for a nice meal or something, i have told dp to book the day off

HolidaysQueen · 09/10/2007 13:21

I'm finding time really dragging for me too at the moment. I'm in that weird phase where the sickness, sore boobs and extreme exhaustion has stopped, but I just look fat rather than having a proper bump and I can't feel the baby move yet so I am almost not feeling pregnant any more. I'm 16 weeks so desperate for the next few weeks to be over so that hopefully by 19-20 weeks I'll have a proper bump and be able to feel the baby move.

On the plus side, I'm being fairly healthy today. I went swimming this morning and have just eaten some grapes! That's pretty good going for me. Plus DH has a couple of weeks off between old and new job, so he is cooking me a nice meal tonight

merryberry · 09/10/2007 14:17

Out of the mouths of babes:

We get back at lunchtime, ds steps in the door.
Looks around the hall floor, dramatically opens arms, shrugs at lack of post and says:

?No postman pat?

And toddles off echoing 'Yeymamma, postman pat strike. strike. naughty postman pat.'

MarchMum · 09/10/2007 15:12

just typed nice long message and it vanished so here goes again!

CL, v.jealous over cheap Stokke, merryberry, tell ds well said and daisynova, welcome. i have had a sick time of it as well (real and nausea) but felt better at 17 weeks. i am back on the couch today for a garden variety cold, so annoying now that i've gotten a break from it. am lying in the doppler spot from saturday!

any other first timers feeling any movement? i have a couple hours of movement every afternoon, very fun! it started late last week, maybe coinciding with the meet up?:.)

preggersagain · 09/10/2007 16:14

well ladies i have today been very productive and produced a new set of personalised fleece covers for my bugaboo i'm always playing silly buggers with it! ps. i hate my bug but loads of people swear by them- i'm keeping it because we will have maxi-cosi seats and its useful if i'm just dashing around with one dt to clip the seat on and go! dd likes her pink flowery covers and people do stop and stare at the outfits i dress it up in

my car saga continues, after a week at the dealership it was pronounced recovered and brought back on Thursday, i happily resumed my usual running around in it until Sunday morning when i needed to go shopping and.......... NOTHING........ not a diddly sausauge, no noise, no attempt to start just !!

So its back at the garage, dh is more than slightly annoyed as i have stolen his car and he is being forced to drive a daewoo matiz- hilarious as he's 6'3"

i'm starting to feel almost human again, i was even out of bed before seven this morning which has been unheard of recently!

i have also become addicted to the smell of WD40, it gets used a lot in our workshop (due to nasty people not looking after their prams) and i have been sitting sniffing a wd40 soaked rag strangely it sort of smells a bit coffee like tinged with something else- mmmmmmm!!!

Hope all is well with everyone else, Claphamlauren- get lots of rest, tea and sympathy- nothing worse than added pain in pregnancy, take it easy

spugs · 09/10/2007 16:25

derah - ive just got a tumble dryer which im now totally in love with, have actually managed to make a dent in my washing

turtle - my ms went at about 10 (ish) weeks but has came back the last couple of days, which is a pain.

pushchair wise im perking to a new one, i like the buzz but theres very little shopping room. think i might go for the new m&p herbie ziko which comes in brilliant colours and patterns and looks ideal
herbie ziko

timmyinatizzy · 09/10/2007 18:11

I'm so that I missed out on the cake. Hope everyone had a nice time. I'll see if I can make the next one.

I had a midwife appointment on Monday and got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first. Wriggly little thing wouldn't keep still. I'm 18+3 today and I think I have felt movement. its a really weird feeling quite low down, and yes it does feel a little like butterflies. My 20 week scan is on 2 November so its more like 22 weeks. I'm getting more excited by the day.

Right of to do dinner now. Junior is getting hungry.

piggyp · 09/10/2007 18:14

Glad I'm not the only one thinking about white goods! New washing machine for all those nappies is top of the list!
Marchmum I felt LO move for the first time yesterday! It's a lovely feeling, but not helping with concentration levels at work.
