Why do I only get the strange stuff? Eye eczema. Scaley all round my eyes and it hurts. Wouldn't mind so much that my eyes are dring out but the rest of my face is so spotty!
Argh.
Feeling much better today, but very anxious to get rid of houseguests now as they keep keeping us up very late...yawn.

hiya, i havent posted for ages, mostly because i have been feeling sick and dont want to whinge!

I had an antenatal appointement today (16 weeks) and it was over in 3 minutes! blood pressure, urine and baby heartbeat checked, and as there was a student there it took no time as they did two things at once, it does seem much easier second time round, i had a million questions last time.

Next midwife appointement is at 23 weeks, im looking forward to that, being more than halfway gone will be good!

derah · 10/10/2007 11:45

Morning ladies!

It's very quiet around here!

I also had a mw appt yesterday, which was mostly spent trying to keep DD from destroying things in the room! But I got to hear baby's heart beat for the first time, which was lovely. Funnily enough, I'm not all that entranced with listening to it, but just like to have a quick listen to make sure there's something there. She also took my bp and did the wee test - no problems there. In fact, I think she was so bored with how average my pregnancy is, she doesn't want to see me again until 28 weeks! Fine by me, as long as I can feel lo wriggling I'm happy.

On the down side, I seem to have caught DD's lurgy and have a sore throat and snuffles. Hope it doesn't get much worse.

Right, off to do some work....

e14mum · 10/10/2007 13:04

Turtle, I'm the eczema queen!
I've had that before (a few years ago) and my advice is to keep off the makeup, moisturise (Aveeno is good) a lot and if it's flaky then you can clean it using a mild cleanser like baby shampoo with water on cotton buds and just clean along your lashes with it.

HolidaysQueen · 10/10/2007 14:21

Afternoon all - I'm feeling very pampered today as DH just made me a lovely lunch (I'm WFH and he is off for a couple of weeks as he starts a new job soon) and then we are off to sunny Spain this evening for a few days of lovely sunshine!

I am so desperate for a mw appt now (6 weeks to go before I next see one!) because I am not feeling pregnant at the moment and need confirmation that I'm not just a bit podgy

Hope you all have a lovely few days. I expect to come back and find that you have completely filled up this message board and started a new one, if the usual pace of messaging is anything to go by!

HQ xx

imjin100 · 10/10/2007 14:51

HQ - have a fab time and don't be too worried. I felt just the same and really thought I was imagining the whole thing and felt just like you. Then....whoooppsss suddenly tummy appeared and flutterings and all sorts so it will happen fear not. It's very quick and then day by day I seem to be expanding...literally!!

hope the eczema, cold, ms and broken vertebrae sufferers all on the mend and everyone else doing ok.

turtle23 · 10/10/2007 19:07

Thanks e14! x

Hi everyone, haven't been on for ages.Everyone well and not too sick I hope?
I am good and starting to have bump which is exciting and disconcerting at the same time, ( still havent told work but really will have to!)
Am house hunting with my dp who is actually coming up trumps in this thing and turns out to be the most sweet and supportive blokey, which is a lovely turn around to where we were at a few months ago. ANyway I am going to ahome birth support group next week and am v. excited about that!Have heard some not very good things about the NHS midwifes in the area I am thinking to move to so may end up having to have private midwife which is a bit scary as apparently none of them have insurance?!!!Anyway, I will let you know how I get on. If anyone wants to post back re experiences with the above I'll check mnet out again this week!
As for prams, well I must admit I have my heart set on a trendy bugaboo, I think they are looking lovely! The quinny is apparently good but yes that toppling issue does seem likely!
Anyway hope everyone is enjoying their cravings. Am glad my tipple is not WD40! But i do seem to want to have yogurt with EVERYTHING!
Best,
xxx

daisynova · 10/10/2007 21:22

Thanks for the warm welcome girls - I am looking forward to sharing pregnancy stories with you all since you will know what I am going through.

I am also feeling like it is all taking far too long - I'm 15 weeks today and just feel fat. Sometimes I look pregnant, other times I just look fat. Someone today didn't know I was pregnant & when I told him, he said he hadn't noticed my belly hanging out over my jeans - what a sweetie & a liar!

It is my 30th birthday in 2 weeks time and will have to remain relatively sober - I will allow myself one glass of wine. So I am going to postpone my 30th birthday until next year!!

merryberry · 10/10/2007 21:38

MUST NOT SCRATCH MY NIPPLES (IN PUBLIC).
MUST NOT SCRATCH MY NIPPLES (IN PUBLIC). MUST NOT SCRATCH MY NIPPLES (IN PUBLIC). MUST NOT SCRATCH MY NIPPLES (IN PUBLIC).

They are so itchy and PG looking and itchy and need scratching which really helps but that's OK at home but not when you're brain dead in traffic and absentmindedly have a good root at them on the bus through Highgate.

derah · 11/10/2007 08:50

LOL at Merryberry! I have itchy bits, which is kinda worse. Sometimes you just have to scratch and so need to find a private corner at work!

Ain't pregnancy fun?!

yardette · 11/10/2007 09:10

Hi all
I lurk around but haven't posted for a while, but I really enjoy hearing how you all are!

I don't get itchy nips but whenever I go into the cold my nips burn and sting like hell!

Have good days all
xx

Brazilianmum · 11/10/2007 10:10

Def getting the itchy nips and boobs thing. Also whenever I sneeze or just whenever they feel like nips goes really hard. And this is only half way there.

Have scan next week, both DP and MIL are coming which will be nice. Can't wait to see the baby again.

PinkMartini · 11/10/2007 10:48

Just popping in.

Sorry to hear about itchy nips - sounds awful. More fun ahead!

I am still being sick which is rather tiresome and am completely exhausted this week.

Hope you're all having good days.

imjin100 · 11/10/2007 10:54

glad the itchy boobs and stinging nips conversation raised - cor blimey - that's something else and fills me with some fear as we approach only half way...what ever will happen later on.
Sorry to hear of continued bugs and sickness but hope well.
3madboys hope you're feeling ok about tomorrow, been thinking of you!

anyone want cheese, pickle and an oatcake...i have a plate full much to my shame. The office are a little surprised by my current cheese and pickle desires!

derah · 11/10/2007 12:33

Imjin, I'm eating a cheese and picalilly sandwich, mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Cheese and pickle rocks!

glammama · 11/10/2007 12:46

Crikey, those itchy bits and bobs sound awful. My boobs aren't itchy, just got incredibly hot last night, you could have fried an egg on each one. (That's a bit Sarah Lucas) I think it might have something to do with getting terribly emotional watching Pride of Britain. Why did I watch that? I never do normally! I'm off to the Post Office to post my old wedding dress to the highest bidder. Someone paid me nearly £65! I was flabbergasted! I'm listening to loud Stereophonics and just want to share the sentiments.... Have a nice day!

glammama · 11/10/2007 12:56

oh, one more thing. Does anyone know why 2 different websites put me in different weeks even though they both give me the same due date? Think I'll go with the BBC, it's further along!

turtle23 · 11/10/2007 12:59

I too cried at Pride of Brit awards last night. Am even worse now as my friend's 6 week old girl has meningitis and can't stop thinking about how tiny she is and how horrid it is.
On more pos note, had 16 week check and all is well. Also, the sun is shining! Hooray!

OP posts:
imjin100 · 11/10/2007 13:07

glammamama - apparently some people talk in terms of which week they are in, or which week they are - I'm 19 weeks, but apparently in my 20th week (a bit like saying I'm 33 but in my 34th year (what sort of a fool would add a year to their age!))

I always go on the actual, rather than the bigger, only because at 40 weeks I should imagine you are counting the minutes longing for it to be over so the longer it takes getting to that point the better. (that makes no sense does it - sorry!)

DH wasn't keen on me watching pride of britain so secretly I wanted to record to watch and sob over in private one day but blow I forgot....does anyone know if it's on again?

Also am thinking of posting a note on another page asking for thoughts on buggies. Even on our lovely cosy thread there are so many different views and they are so spread out I can't remmeber what people have said....so I thought it might be a good idea to ask in one place. My SIL thinks I should be researching now ready to get it bought post holiday in november because apparently they can take two months to arrive...lordy....and I guess as I'm due early march I'd want it ready in February...anythoughts on the posting thing ladies? is that a bit brave to actually start a whole new thread!!

spugs · 11/10/2007 13:21

id start it, i know theres been a few in the past but people do seem to like talking about their pushchairs id definitly start thinking about it now to make sure you get your ideal one. with both of my 2 children ive gone for the first one i liked and ended up hating them because they were to heavy or didnt face me. being much more careful this time

glad to hear people are ok apart from the itchy nips! Glad to say i dont have that but my boobs have finally got bigger im wearing a 34 B maternity bra (horrid thing) and im normally a 34 AA.

has anyone started buying stuff for baby yet? im trying to spread stuff out over the next 5 mths (though i dont need too much) ive bought a crib bedding set, and today in asda got some of there cheap vests and sleep suits (£1.75 for 3 vests!) going to get some in the right colour when we have 20 weeks scan if bubba isnt shy.

merryberry · 11/10/2007 13:51

imjin have you checked the reviews for pram info?

imjin100 · 11/10/2007 14:12

merrberry, thanks I have looked and it's good but I still think there are lots of other questions to be answered....alongside that useful link.
Spugs, you've hit the nail on the head - which one was too heavy and is it really that important which way it faces...as a first timer no one but cyber friends can help! I adore my friends and family but they all think the one they got is the only answer and they are all different ones!
enjoying a large fruit salad...yum yum.

imjin100 · 11/10/2007 14:20

I did it - feel rather grown up (and daunted!) I've put it in pregnancy - is that right? Anyway - perhaps it will be useful for lots of people. I hope so.

merryberry · 11/10/2007 14:34

looks cool imjin. i've kinda lost the will to live on buggies. i hate the thought of giving up my amazingly functional maclaren techno!

OK. Birth plans. Can I have one of these please?

WOW!
