The only good thing about having been so ill this weekend is that I was left alone with laptop and credit card so have done a LOT of my shopping, both xmas and baby. Xmas is all done [shocked emoticon] and we now have our monitor, sling, pushchair, baby gym, steriliser, nappies, travel cot, and many clothes!! I love ebay. Also have cot and other furniture picked out but have to physically leave the house to get it . Hope you all had a good weekend! Anyone just happen to have a cosytoes pattern? Or one they can draw around for me? Have become obsessed....made bouncy chair to match the curtains and now liking it so much want to make cosytoes!

Preggers - I can't believe how pink that crib is, let alone two in the same room together

Turtle - v. envious of your virtual shopping expedition. No doubt I shall be doing that Thurs evening after getting back from the hospital!!!

If anyone is interested, John Lewis do a nice plain moses basket for £30 so I think we'll go for that one (I'm not into frilliness or Winnie the Pooh type things!) We actually worked out that buying one on eBay, getting it posted and then buying a new mattress wouldn't actually save much money so might as well get one new.

HolidaysQueen · 19/11/2007 14:43

Oh and e14mum - thanks for compliment on my DH. It made me cry, cos he is being very lovely at the moment (I had a bit of a moan at him last week and it has really done the trick!) - surprisingly enthusiastic about baby things and cooking me lovely dinners. He is very nervous but I think he is going to be a fabulous dad [big soppy ]

turtle23 · 19/11/2007 16:01

I need to be stopped. Just realised I have been on ebay for 3 hours and am getting addicted.
Must go and eat instead!

HELLLOOOO all, I'm back. I won't bore you with the details but suffice to say I had the holiday of a lifetime! Treat after treat, including an upgraded room and flight home. Everyone was so kind - me being pregnant and all. It was fantastic and my DH excelled himself at being amazing...
right, enough of me! Haven't had a proper chance to catch up but welcome to new friends and hello to growing bumps and big hello to all post scan...HQ - are you counting down - it must be any day now...surely!
I'm off to the doctor now - a 25 week check up they wanted to do - no idea what happens but there we go! No complaints - (oh except a seriously sore back - the boobs....can they get any bigger!) seriously struggling come 9pm and lying on the floor by the table on our boat cruise down the nile has become a talking point for many fellow guests!
happy days to all.
what's with this weather??!

Brazilianmum · 19/11/2007 16:31

Hi all
I'm a bit on and off with the posting at the moment as work is very busy. Got lot's on till beginning of Dec and then I can relax.
Have done lot's f baby shopping and got most of the wardrobe sorted for the first six months. Bought lot's when we were in the US.
Have been doing a little price comparison and found out that Kiddicare is really reasonable and generally cheaper then Mothercare, Babies R US and Argos on most things. So will be buying a few bits from there like foldable bath, thermometer, maxi cosi car seat, cot mobile etc.
A friend is going lend me her bedside crib, so that will do for the first six months.
Had MW appointment week before last and blood was detected in my urine, MW said it's probably just the horrible cold I had working it's way out. Have doctors appointment tomorrow so hopefully the test will come up clear. We have booked a 3D scan on 8 December, can't wait to see more of my little boy.

piggyp · 19/11/2007 16:58

Haven't mn'd for a while! 25 weeks now and really starting to feel tired after work (and during it!) and generally lumbering around.
Everyone seems so organised! I haven't bought a single thing or even looked at anything. I know that I will have an ample supply of the larger things second hand from my aunt (who has kept everything she had - cousin is only 8). But other than that nothing, I just can't bring myself to 'risk it' I didn't realise how superstitious I was.
HQ - well done on nearly finishing baby blanket. I have done half a square! and that has taken nearly a week!

ibblewob · 19/11/2007 17:56

Hello everyone, couldn't face reading all 34 pages of this post, so just thought I'd jump right in and say hi!

Am due on March 2nd with baby no. 2 (poss a girl?). DS is 2.1. The actual pregnancy is going really well, I think, but just can't seem to shake off anything else I get along with it, colds, flu etc. Am really missing all my usual drugs! (i.e. lemsip ).

Will try and browse the other pages and get to know you all a bit better.

turtle23 · 19/11/2007 17:58

Hi ibblewob! Welcome to the zoo!

OP posts:
glammama · 19/11/2007 18:21

Hello ibblewob.
Gosh some of you are so organised. I'm hoping someone is going to come on here soon and tell me they're going to put their baby in a drawer to sleep, carry baby around in a shawl and alternate four sleepsuits

Just booked free tickets for the Christmas Show at Canary Wharf on Saturday although the website still says first come first served and I don't actually get any tickets! Santa is arriving here on Saturday so I guess our Christmas period will officially start. Hurray, I can start my annual tape on a loop of Fairytale in New York!

MumOfBillyTheKid · 19/11/2007 18:22

Hi all (and welcome iblewob)

Like a few of you, i've not mn'd for a bit. Have been busy decorating (not the nursery i hasten to add!)

Back to work and mn now. After saying baby's legs were short at 21w scan, i've had a letter to go for another scan next week and to see a consultant (am guessing it's related!) - so, will get to see lo again! Trying not to worry about it - reckon with me being short and my Mum/Dad and grandparents being short, it's not going to be the tallest kid on the block.

Is anyone else feeling very tired at the mo? - struggling to keep awake 15 minutes after dinner each night! DP laughs at me dozing on sofa all evening!!

Have got cotbed sorted (2nd hand from friend), think have pram chosen (Britax Vigour 3) but not buying till the new year, other than that, bits and pieces are coming my way from friends which is nice - other non-kid friends are planning a baby shower for me and want me to do a list - very chuffed!

Right - better go cook dinner (lo is fidgeting again - seems to be moving lots lately!). Look after yourselves and chat soon

x

monthlymayhem · 19/11/2007 23:27

Hi Ibblewob

You are all so organised! I'm relying on my SIL (who is due 1st baby this week..very excited) to test all baby items, equipment, etc, etc and then provide full test reports with out of ten markings and ideally a complete list of what I should and shouldn't buy in time for March

I have got a few things - 2nd hand moses basket for which we'll buy a new mattress, some sleepsuits, microwave steriliser and breast pump (really just because they were going for half price and can't resist a bargain). However I'm not feeling too panicked as have most of the big items thought out, if not bought: Silver Cross 3D for pram (unless SIL has -ve report on it!) and Amby natures nest instead of a cot. I think I'm going to try and concentrate on Xmas shopping and then buy most baby stuff in January.

The nursery is starting to shape though DH is adamant that it's going to be the best nursery ever and is spending lots of time making sure that everything is done properly (even the joins in the coving which I'm not sure baby will notice )

Also have to mention my 'soup saga' from yesterday..decided to make lovely spicy butternut squash soup last night. DH walked in from work to the kitchen just as the blender lid came off and covered me head to toe (including all through my hair) with liquidised butternut squash...nice. A few hours later once he'd finally managed to stop laughing, we had a bowl and after a mouthful realised that I'd put the chillies in whole without de-seeding first ...I like spicy but we literally had to eat a spoonful of soup with a gulp of milk inbetween each mouthful. And then I worried all night of course about the possibility of going into premature labour after so much spice!

Anyway, sorry this was such a long post - good night!

HolidaysQueen · 20/11/2007 08:43

Morning all - if anyone comes across any orange baby items (sheets, blankets, changing mats) please can you let me know? I really want orange in my nursery and can't find anything!!!

monthlymayhem - your soup story has really cheered me up. I had a rubbish night's sleep (i.e. hardly any), have a sore back and now have to haul myself into work, and at least I'll now do so with a smile on my face! Thank you

Imjin - so pleased you had such a fabulous holiday (although incredibly jealous!) My scan is finally on Thursday - about another 55 hours to go... I really hope I'm the last on here to have one - it has been so hard to wait this long that I couldn't bear it on their behalf if somebody else was having to wait even longer!

Piggy - blanket finished and I'm on to a jumper! I think knitting keeps my hands occupied so stops me reaching for the biscuits - I'm really enjoying it, even if DH isn't so certain about the quality of the results so far!

Turtle - fortunately for me last night I was out when some eBay items I was bidding on went into a last hour frenzy. If I'd been around I would have been forced into paying ludicrous prices for things the baby doesn't really need just to have the satisfaction of winning... Competitive? Moi?

fitnforty · 20/11/2007 09:16

monthlymayhem - you gave me such a laugh, just the sort of thing i'd do!
Actually last night, i'd made dinner and was saving half of it for lunch today, except i forgot to turn the cooker off so it got a little bit crispy Dog enjoyed it though!

And am v. excited as got a good bargain on the xplory on ebay, only a month old and should arrive in the next day or 2. Just haven't got the newborn bits for it, or any of the other things like fleeces, cosytoes etc etc. Not actually sure what to get with a March baby as it might be freezing, it might be a heatwave - how do you tell these days?!

Am so tempted by the moffii oberon cradle, but still finding it hard to justify the price! One of the girls in work is tempting me by saying how lovely it looks (and presumably has decent resale value on ebay) but it's still a hell of a lot of money! Though have seen for only £50 more than the amby, it's a big gap between that and the most expensive moses basket or even glider cradle

e14mum · 20/11/2007 10:07

morning all.

That is a fantastic soup story mm!

HQ- try vertbaudet for orange stuff. I have the nursery catalogue and there are a lot of orange-themed things in it and they're very cute!

My hips are killing me at night. I've tried pillow between knees, doesn't work at all. Propped half on my back- sort of works. Curled into a ball on my side- again kind of works. I have to get up 3 or 4 times a night and walk around to get the kinks out! Anyone else getting this?

Glamma, is the CW show a kiddie thing? I love Christmas stuff- might drag DH down there on Saturday to look around.

I need a cup of tea. Hope LOs are kicking around and making you all smile.

glammama · 20/11/2007 10:08

Morning all,

HQ Your post reminded me about my orange fetish with DD. I ended up dyeing sheets, vests and bodysuits with Dylon dye. I also tie-dyed a few items in a lovely purple . Thanks for reminding me, I'm going to do the same with this one. Can't bear wall to wall pale blue!

glammama · 20/11/2007 10:11

Missed your post e14! Christmas is for all ages!!!! If you're unsure about gate crashing a kiddy thing, come with us to the 2pm show. book here I LOVE CHRISTMAS TOO!!!

HolidaysQueen · 20/11/2007 11:15

e14, glammama - thanks for the ideas! Vertbaudet has some stuff I'm interested in buying, and I hadn't even thought about the possibility of just buying plain white stuff and dying it!

Brazilianmum · 20/11/2007 13:04

Got my hug a bub sling/carrier yesterday and was trying to watch the DVD and tie it, using a Stich (from Lilo and Stich) as baby, thought about using my little shi tzu but he wouldn't have co-operated. DP was laughing until I decided to put it on him, I'm sure it will take us a few more tries to master it, but we will get there.

merryberry · 20/11/2007 14:02

Am slinking on to recount mortifying PG brain moment no. 927758 as a warning to you all:

Have just announced to a group of mums i don't know too well that my uncle S likes to go fisting.

I MEANT FISHING.

Engaged brain. Left soft play area a bit early. Leave neighbourhood? Leave country?

SOrry uncle S.

preggersagain · 20/11/2007 15:53

oh dear merryberry still it could have been worse- somehow!!

hope all's well, i'm afraid i can't help on the orange bedding front- we do white, cream, pink, blue, lemon, mint, aqua and lilac- but i've never seen orange from our suppliers- vertbaudet are good for unusual colours etc!

Been playing with my new bebecar stylo pram- a single as i'm sure i won't always have both twins with me! dh spotted it earlier and has threatened divorce if i ever make him use it its fuschia pink!! These poor girls are going to be sick of the sight of pink by the time they're two!

PurlyQueen · 20/11/2007 16:01

e14mum you need a DreamGenii pregnancy pillow www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1085136&classificationid=1034959. It's a pillow which looks like a question mark. It cradles your back, bump and has a long bit that you put between your legs to stop you rolling over in the middle of the night.
Pure bliss and well worth £39.99. I bought mine online from Boots and won't be parted from it now

piggyp · 20/11/2007 16:53

Anyone elso incredibly hungry all the time? I'm not normally a big eater but all I can think about is jacket potatoes and cheese[hungry face smiley]!
MM - love the soup story.
HQ - I'm now back at stage one with knitting - first square finished and then realised I had done the wrong number of stitches! DH posts biscuits / crisps straight into my mouth for me to avoid getting the wool grubby, so the busy hands isn't really working!

PurlyQueen · 20/11/2007 18:40

Jacket potatoes and cottage cheese is my poison!
What do you mean when you say you have done the wrong number of stitches, piggyp? If it's only the first square, you could do all the other squares with the same number of stitches.

timmyinatizzy · 20/11/2007 19:37

Haven't been on for a bit as I have been busy at work and it seems to be non stop with the dsd's these days! The house move seems to be coming along nicely. We got the list of all the items that the lady is leaving for us, and she is leaving us the tumble dryer. That will be a godsend in the early months I think. Its only 4 and a half weeks until dp and I get married. This is where I need your help girlies please. I was going to wear mhy black trousers and a black and white maternity top from Mothercare but I'm not so sure now. Its only going to be a registry office and a buffet back at our house, but I'm now thinking that I should dress up a bit more. Does anyone have any suggestions for something a bit more wedingy? I'll wear a skirt but I'm not a floaty dress type person IFYKWM.
