Sparkly - you both look amazing. Callum is gorgeous and looks so well.

Fiona - poor old you. Hope you managed to get back to sleep.

RG - the malteesers were lovely ta. mmmmmm.

Have good day one and all.

RGPargy · 27/09/2007 10:52

Morning everyone!

Sparkly - you and little Callum look amazing!! He is much bigger than i thought he would be! His size quite surprised me! He does look very alert doesn't he?!! Bless him!

Fiona - re the homebirth thing. I think the MWs are very good at cleaning up any mess, so i am told. I dont even remember any mess when i had DS all those years ago when i had him in hospital so they must do a good job! Not sure how it works in all health authorities, but the midwife i will get will be the one of the MWs from the surgery, depending on what day i go into labour etc.

I cant wait to get my travel system. Will hopefully get that and the moses basket this weekend - finally!

Littleoldme - glad the maltesers were good.

Floanna · 27/09/2007 11:10

Good grief - I'm away for 24 hours and it takes me 2 hours to catch up!!

Anyway - just bookmarking for now, will catch up properly later.

SGK - Congrats again

FCH · 27/09/2007 11:39

SGK - your pic just made me well up (although this may indicate a mild hormone overdose on my part). Callum looks gorgeous and so alert and it is such good news that he is doing so well!

I am feeling naughty - I just went to the Macmillan Coffee morning and had a HUGE slice of cake. (I am also now feeling slightly sick )

Ref mess at homebirth - my sister (community midwife) assures me that there is no mess - they bring absorbent pads etc and clear up any mess and take everything away leaving you with beautiful baby and immaculate house (or at least one in much the same state as it was before ).

On the subject of what to wear in labour, DH was trying to throw away an old dark blue cotton shirt the other day so I have pinched that. It comes well down to mid thigh and I thought it would be useful to have something that unbuttons!

Hope everyone is well and there is no more excitement happening - I can't take any more this week...

Floanna · 27/09/2007 12:22

SGK - your pic really is beautiful, and you do look fab considering you've just given birth - I can imagine I'll look like I've just gone 10 rounds with Tyson!!

Fiona - re HB - apprently the MWs do clean up all the mess for you and put all the washing in your machine aswell - the other option is having a home water birth where the mess will be contained in your birthing pool which will be drained...

All this talk of chocolate is making me want some and I don't even have a sweet tooth!

Good news though - I've just read that choc helps boost magnesium and iron levels so eating more is now my official excuse to get my iron levels up for HB!! Yippee!!

Loopy - Did you give birth in the water or get out for that bit?

Thank you, that really helps.

Definitely sounds tempting to stay in though!!

RGPargy · 27/09/2007 14:20

How can the MW tell how many CMs you are dilated if you are in the pool? Does she have a fumble around?

Anyone else getting booted in the ribs??!

geekInPigtails · 27/09/2007 15:09

RGP - at the waterbirth class I had last week (which was talking primarily about waterbirths in the midwife unit rather than at home), we were told that we would be asked to get out of the pool once every 4 hours for an internal to check progress. But as Loopy says, they can't force you out! They will also ask you to get out every so often to go to the loo (though the teacher also said that it's not uncommon or a problem if you end up 'going' in the pool!)

RGPargy · 27/09/2007 15:15

Thanx Loopy & Geek. When i ws pg with DS in 1990, it seemed that every appointment i had involved an internal. It was horrible and i think that's where i lost my dignity, rather than in childbirth itself!

Guess i'll just go with the flow and see what happens but i'd rather not have an internal, natch!

Flo - nope, no rib kickings for me. Still getting kicked in the fanjo coz LO is breech. I'm not sure which would be more uncomfortable! Saying that, LO gave me a MASSIVE kick in the fanjo/bladder area last night when i was laying in bed while DP has his hand on my tum. It was so strong that i kinda flew up in the air!!

Floanna · 27/09/2007 15:27

RPP - Hee hee that's just made me LOL at my desk - very embarassing . Not sure what I'd prefer but I know it's pretty painful!!

Floanna · 27/09/2007 16:09

That is supposed to say RGP...

RGPargy · 27/09/2007 16:19

LOL! I knew what you meant!

mrsjetson · 27/09/2007 17:28

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always miss the excitement!!

Sparkly - very very many Congratulations - Callum looks so cute with his eyes wide open!! Well done! You really weren't joking when you said you'd be early! I hope the little man is home with you all soon xxx

Silk - where are you having the baby? I've just realised we are both in Glos and due on the same day. Now that would be funny.....!!

Hi to everyone else - hope you are all keeping well, apart from the heartburn and lack of sleep - happens to the best of us!

We are gradually settling into a routine, all 3 started school on Tuesday and seem to be having a ball! They love it.

The bathrooms are currently being ripped out - should be finished by this time next week, our bedroom furniture should be fitted by the weekend, and the dinign furniture should arrive as soon as Laura Ashley get tehir bloody act together. We have been waiting for over 3 months and now they have 'lost it'!! Still, I'm in the UK and LOVING IT!!

Hospital Bag? I haven't even thought about it - I suppose I should really!

Have a good evening x

thelady · 27/09/2007 17:50

Can somebody please remind me where you order the raspberry leaf tablets (not the tea - blech!) from? I know I won't be able to get them locally....

Thanks loads.

silkcushion · 27/09/2007 18:31

SGK - I'm blubbing looking at Callum - he's lovely.

MrsJ - I'm opting for Glos midwife led birthing unit. Maybe see you there?

Advice needed please from anyone who knows. Had quite a bad mw appointment this afternoon . Blood pressure has suddenly risen after being low throughout pg so far and LO's heartbeat has become irregular. Was skipping beats. Have to go in for day monitoring tomorrow am. Mw said don't worry but of course I am. Any thoughts or experience of this? Baby is all engaged - is this a bit early 34 weeks at the moment.

Hi all

Silk, I think Lisad (Sparkly's sister) had similar problems - irregular lo heartbeat and sometimes high bp for her. She had her baby a week or so ago, and I think she was about 37? 38? weeks then, and all was fine. This must be a lot more common than we think.

Loopsy, I have been wanting a waterbirth, but then I read a scary article that said the safety of delivering in a pool hadnt been properly investigated (as opposed to just labouring in the pool). It also said sth about the baby needing to come to the surface v fast. Does that put huge pressure on you to push the body out once the head is out? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just interested and want to feel reassured.

Chocolate - well I've been devouring it throughout the pregnancy, except I went off my usual fave (70% dark stuff) for the first five months or so. Back on it all, now, really. LO has a sweet tooth.

Off to eat dinner and veg in front of telly now!

sparklygothkat · 27/09/2007 19:54

have added another picture

Callum is doing well, they stopped his anti-bi. today as he doesn;t have GBS. So the velfon thingy has gone!!! Tried to breastfeed twice today and he wasn't interested, but have managed to express some milk this evening.
