RG - yes do the chocolate thing - or cakes - or perhaps a doughnut? It will cure your work day blues, and keep saying to yourself "only a few working days to go" - it will all be over before you know it!

debbsyandsonn · 09/10/2007 12:32

hi just wanted to pop in and wish you ladies the very best of luck i was on the nov 06 thread

RGPargy · 09/10/2007 12:44

FCH - it's actually cake day today here at work, so i spose there was something worth coming in for!!

Debby - Hello! How are you getting on with your LO one year on?!

debbsyandsonn · 09/10/2007 12:46

fab hes ten mths on the 11th (sorry he was actually born dec didnt want to mention that one though as was due in Nov)he is the apple of my eye and i love him dearly.

RGPargy · 09/10/2007 12:55

Fantastic! Cant wait to meet my LO!!

aikigypsy · 09/10/2007 13:01

Good morning everyone (morning here, anyway).

DP is now here to stay, which is great but he must learn to stick to his 1/3 of the bed (not the 2/3 he took the last two nights) so my pillows and I can get a comfortable night in. He is quite jetlagged, or at least tired.

Off to work again today. I could really do with a few days of just sitting around the house, but it doesn't look like it will happen until next week .

sparklygothkat · 09/10/2007 13:15

FCH, thats bollox about early babies feeding lots, and not sleeping, all my kids have been prem. and they all slept well (dd1 and dd2 don't sleep well now, but thats another story lol) and weren't permatly attached to me.
Callum still has bloodshot eyes, in a ring around his pupils. SCBU told me it was due to the pressure from labour, but surely it should have gone now.

ChocolateHobnob · 09/10/2007 14:11

Hi all

quick stop off as am working (!) from home. Well working ish! Hope you're all okay.

Aiki, you need him to take up no more than 1/3 cos pregnant women need their full 2/3 of the bed for the pillows!

Choudru, I'm now a Wispa addict too. Am eating Wispas like I never did when they were for normal sale. Um, probably because I have an excuse for burgeoning belly this time. They melt in the mouth though - they're so good!

Sparkly, am sure Callum's eyes'll recover soon.

Iris, how're you doing? Bad time to have argument with your sister. Hope the sugar balances out. Probably just a case of reaching the right balance with the insulin.

Hope you're all okay!

Loopy- glad it's not just my 2 year old who likes switching the computer off! I now mumsnet when she's not around!

Wispas are good chocolate - by that I mean, there's not that much in a bar because of the air bubbles, so you're allowed 2! Purely in the name of research I am comparing aeros and wispas, the latter are definitiely nicer! But it's best to keep checking

FCH - why did you have to mention doughnuts? Now I want those too...

RGPargy · 09/10/2007 16:23

Loopy - How annoying!!!!

Jet - Oh yes, for research purposes you'd best keep it up! I've just "researched" a chocolate choux bun with fresh cream in the middle. It was most delightful but i'm wondering if i should do some "research" with a Wispa tonight (if i can bloody find one!).

LK2boyzma · 09/10/2007 16:23

Hi all, I always forget to get a piece of paper and a pen to reply to pple individually, so I end up cutting it short because I will have forget half the things I want to talk about.

RG- I am working until Friday,. I haven't been today because of back pain! I always mean to ask you, how do you feel about being a mum after 17yrs? Do you remember the entire experience from last time? because for me its been only 8yrs,(compared to u that is) but I feel as if everything is so new and am struggling with buying things that I need. Have been very dependant on 'what to take to hospital' lists on the net!

baby movements: i seem to have picked up a pattern of my baby's movements. so around that time, that's when my DS and DH are glued to my side. At half the time they don't even have to put their hands on my tummy, they just LOOK! He wriggles so much pushing my skin away.

RGPargy · 09/10/2007 16:39

Hi LK

Sorry you're working til Friday. Bummer. I promise not to sit here on Thursday and gloat about being at home watching Jezza and Trisha with my feet up on the sofa, cup of tea in hand!

17 years is a long time. However, i feel very very excited about the LO this time. I think having a different (very very supportive) partner has helped heaps. Unfortunately DS's father was very unsupportive, paid no interest whilst pg or when DS was born and was verbally and physically abusive so i've always looked back at the whole experience of pg and babies with some degree of dispair and have always shuddered at the thought of doing it again.

However, having said that, things are 100% different this time around and DP and i are sooo excited it's untrue! I feel like a first time mum again, but with the added bonus of having a previous life, IYSWIM. I have started remembering things from when DS was a baby, like how to change a nappy, how to hold them in the bath etc etc. I would say it has started to come trickling back into my grey brain cells. I think also having the internet this time around has helped enormously too. Back in 1989/1990 there was no internet () and all you got was an NHS pregnancy book.

Try and remember what you actually used last time when your LO was tiny and dont get fooled into buying crap that you dont really need. If you didn't need it with previous LOs, you wont need it with this one. I haven't got a hospital list yet because i'm planning a home water birth, but i will at some point pack a bag "just in case".

Baby's movements also seem to be making my tummy move, which is great to watch! Unfortunately she is not a performer and will quite often stop moving and kicking as soon as DP puts his hand on my tummy or even LOOKS at my tummy. It's only me that gets to see the full tummy circus going on! Typical!!

mrsjetson · 09/10/2007 16:42

Hi there ladies

I hope that you are well - I haven't been able to go through all of the previous posts - I would need at least a week to catch up!

My rather over active LO is still inside - thank goodness. DH flew away this morning for 2 weeks, and my Nanny has just informed me that she is leaving the day he returns!!!! The joys................

Keep well, I'll look in over the next week or so to see what developments have been happening.

Take care - enjoy ALL of the chocolate that you could possibly consume before LO's arrive xxx

RGPargy · 09/10/2007 16:43

Hi Mrs Jetson!!

Hope you are well (nanny and jet-setting DH aside).

LK2boyzma · 09/10/2007 17:06

My DS is always asking if he can have the baby's cot in his bedroom! (wink) He has suggested how his furniture can be moved around to accomadate the cot!

We all can't wait for LO to grace the house and YES it makes a difference if DH is supportive doesn't it? As long as i am not talking shopping, he is happy to spend every minute with me,

RGPargy · 09/10/2007 17:09

LK - i somehow think DS will regret having baby in with him when he gets woken up during the night.... Bless him tho, how sweet!

Glad your DP is also supportive for you

choudru · 09/10/2007 17:16

RG - what a contrast this time compared to when DS was born. No wonder you're so excited for this baby!

When I was watching the birth DVD the other day, one of the women was a single mum who already had a little DD. Once her contractions started, she arranged for her mum to come and pick up DD so she was all alone until her midwife arrived. She made herself a cuppa and sat down on her own and was obviously in a lot of pain. I felt so miserable for her - coping with labour all on her own without a partner, mum or friend around that I couldn't stop the tears rolling down my face! How hormonal is that? Luckily her MW arrived soon after so she had someone.

She just looked so vulnerable and helpless. And then Davina Macall was talking about how much her doula had helped her during labour by reassuring her and encouraging her. She got quite emotional talking about it which resulted in another wave of tears from moi.

???!!!!

Have been exhausted today - the most tired I have been so far since 1st trimester. Have barely got through the day - just made sure DS and I were fed and that's about it.

By the way - regarding hossie bags - I have one for me and one with baby stuff in. But someone advised me that might be better to have one for labour and birth and one for postnatal ward. Which does make sense. So will rearrange bag so that I have everything I could need during labour, plus an outfit for LO, camera etc in one bag. And then all other stuff in another bag.

Iris - I hope things have cheered up for you sending positive vibes your way Your idea of putting list of meal options up is a good one! Might nick it.

Have just finished my first Wispa of the day

MrsJ - I would have a panic attack if my DH went off for 2 weeks right now!!!

Pixie - poor you getting your relaxing bath ruined. Some things are sacred - including mum-to-be's bath time.

Loopy - hate it when that happens - my DS loves to touch switches as well. If you find a detterent let me know...

Don't forget Bringing up Baby tonight for those who can stomach it...

Confession - I don't like wispas! I'm sorry. I feel like I should leave the thread now forever.

But before I go - obstetric choleostasis (not sure how to spell) is something I've been tested for a few times. It is where your liver doesn't function properly, they diagnose it through blood tests. Symptoms include very itchy skin, particularly on hands and feet. The worst case scenario is you will have to deliver early but we're all far enough along now for that not to be a major problem. Just look at little Callum. Anyway, hope is just a blip.

fiona76 · 09/10/2007 19:18

I've never had a wispa- never heard of them. Oh the shame...

yes the blankets are fab, Callum will sleep for ages when swaddled. a normal blanket is not as secure and Callum can move himself out of a normal blanket quite quickly

nykate · 09/10/2007 21:02

I agree about the blankets...made a huge difference with DD2 instead of trying to keep her swaddled with my own (sadly lacking) technique.

I'm SO jealous of all of the chocolate and cake talk! I've been feeling like crap and it's really getting me down. Occasional nausea and heartburn has given way to full-on vomiting sessions several times a day- I can barely keep anything down, even if I eat just a little bit and try and stay upright afterwards. It's like the first trimester all over again! But, it doesn't feel like regular nausea- more like massive indigestion that results in vomiting. Should I be worried something is wrong or just chalk it up to bad luck and a severely squashed stomach? I have an appt w/consultant next week and won't see my midwife for 2 weeks after that (despite being due in 4 wks so hopefully won't be able to make that appt . Is it worth trying to see her sooner? Am really disappointed that I'm not enjoying the end of this pregnancy- am feeling so tired and frustrated. Any advice appreciated .

Jossiejump · 09/10/2007 21:21

RG-presume this site won't let me put three asterisks in a row as it took two out again!

Have posted on pregnancy board about transverse lie at 33 weeks-does anyone have any experience?

Pixiefish · 09/10/2007 22:23

Jossie- asterixes are used either side of a word to make the word bold. Have a look at the box next to where you type- that's why it looks like it's disappeared
