Hi all,

Choc- what I normally do is sleep as late as possible (around 2330-midnight) because if I sleep any ealier, I wake up up twice to use the loo and the worst thing about our house is that the loo is DOWNSTAIRS!

Jetgirl / Loopy: I have been very lucky that DH has been very helpful around the house absolutely nothing to complain about! I said I was going to get a cleaner to help out but he has offered to do it all by himself (wink) and so far he has done a marvellous job.

Before this offer, I got fed up of waiting for him to do the garden and I went out there, did my best; That night I could not sleep, I worried the baby was going to come early and the worst thing was that there was no baby shopping done then. I vowed NEVER to push myself again!

RG- Like you, I am finishing work next week, I can't wait to be home with no work to worry about!

Easywriter: PIL, I do understand the frustration, but keep your head high!

LK2boyzma · 08/10/2007 14:37

O by the way could someone add my name to the list, I noticed that some clever gilrs added their names to the baby due list, but I cannot figure out how to do this

Due 23rd Nov- boy

silkcushion · 08/10/2007 14:46

OMG it's taken an hour to catch up with the chat since last thursday. I have officially started maternity leave this week and am sooooo glad. Wrote a massive "to do" list last night and have done pretty much nothing today so far. Slept until 11.30 (which is unheard of) then watched 2 episodes of house of tiny tearaways I'd had sky plused. Have managed to put the washing on I suppose and sorted out the recycling.

Went to my final NCT class on friday and a couple was missing cos they'd had their baby already (due the same day as me). Funny to see the reactions of the class - we were all in shock. They had a lady there with her new baby who has invited us all round to her house for coffee every week for the next five weeks. That's a very good idea. NCT is helpful so far for meeting other mums.

it's just deleted the second half of my message. Am going to kick laptop out of the patio door.

Hormonal and irrational? moi?

LOL Loopysmummy- sorry am rolling on the floor here

LK2boyzma · 08/10/2007 16:01

Thanx Floanna, I feel part of the gang now!

I decided to walk to school to get DS today, it was only 15 minutes walk but I feel exhausted! Baby doing some real dolphin moves in there, pushing my tummy to its full elasticity, DS really loving it!

RGPargy · 08/10/2007 17:13

Flo - Have i missed something? What's this about theft? Nightmare! Hope you get it sorted out soon. Glad your hospital trip was nothing to worry about too.

Fiona - Men are mostly rubbish at presents aren't they! And as for getting TWO traffic tickets!! No wonder you are so !!

FCH - Hmmm..... i wonder if it's worth getting the heat retaining cover then. I personally wasn't going to bother because it was just going to be a case of "oops i'm in labour, whack on the hot tap" kinda thing. No i just dont know!! Might be an idea, seeing as it'll be winter etc

Loopy - Yup, still working here I'm hanging on in there by the tips of my fingers tho! Oh and PMSL at the Milton story! I think i probably would have put them in at the beginning too.

LK - I think you're right about going to bed a bit later. I find that if i go to bed around midnight, i sleep through til about 6am but feel much more rested than if i were to go to bed at about 10.30 and wake up twice for a wee! Do you finish on Friday next week or earlier? It's great when other siblings feel the baby move isn't it? My DS (17) still hasn't felt baby move yet and i'm a bit about that, but i think that because of his age, he might not want to put his hands on his old mum's big belly for ages waiting for LO to perform. Seeing as LO is not a performer, even for DP, he could be sitting there for quite a while with his hands on my belly! Not what you'd expect a teenager to want to do really is it?

Silk - glad you've started your mat leave now, you lucky thing! From the sounds of it, you've been pottering around, which is just as good as any To-Do list i'm sure!

I'm leaving working in a mo so no doubt i'll catch up with you all again tonight lol. I really should get a life, yuh?

sparklygothkat · 08/10/2007 17:34

Hello again, Well Callum slept very well last night and only woke once at 4am for a feed Went out for lunch today and forgot to put my breast pads back in my bra after I fed him at 11am, and ended up leaking while eating so don't do that when you have yours..

fiona76 · 08/10/2007 17:45

Sparkly- Oh no!! My sister had a real leakage problem she needed towels and flannels as breast pads didn't cut the mustard, so lunches out were a bit impossible for first few weeks for her.

RG- My DH bought me a kitchen whizz for my 30th birthday last year. I do love cooking and did want one but really for my birthday!!! They just don't get it. He won't make that mistake again as I have since educated him on appropriate presents for beloved wives.

sparklygothkat · 08/10/2007 17:52

want to recommend this to you, Callum is quite twitchy, and BF can be hard with little arms everywhere, so I use a swaddle blanket its great, he also sleeps better with it

KaylaBmummy · 08/10/2007 19:29

Hi All . Thanks for all your kind words today. Had a bit of a crap day, been to see doctor and midwife. I had high levels of glucose in the urine and protein and blood pressure was high, so have had to have a string of blood tests and get results tomorrow. They are also testing for liver choleostosis as I also have symptoms of this but dont know much about it.. They wanted to admit me today but I promised to stay in bed all day and wait for results tomorrow, if positive, I will go into hospital. DH home but had to go out for an hour, so thought I would quickly log on MN and make a cuppa then back up. I also took your excellent advice ladies and have a large slice of Lemon Drizzle cake my favorite. Better head back upstairs so thanks again and hopefully speak tomorrow.

Easywriter · 08/10/2007 19:45

Sorry to hear your news Kayla, do try to rest it's easy to forget that being pregnant puts an additional strain on our bodies and that sometimes we shouldn't just get on with it.

I hope your results are OK tomorrow.

I just wanted to update you all. The palpa... poking bit went well though it is not apparent that I'm giving birth to and eel! She never stopped squirming and wriggling the whole time.

The ultrasound was v. disappointing, it was required as no one was sure if they could feel brains or bum as she was moving so much but they wheeled out a portable ultrasound with limited capability. You could see the head, or an arm, or her heart as opposed to all of her at once.

Nevermind, at least all is well. Ciao.

Easywriter · 08/10/2007 19:46

Grr!! Oh for spell check.

It is now apparent

RGPargy · 08/10/2007 21:32

Evening all!

Sparkly - wow, Callum is doing sooooo well and so are you! Fabulous progress!

Fiona - Oh dear, that is almost a sackable offence isn't it!!!

Kayla - so sorry you're still having a rough time. Lemon Drizzle is deffo the best cure

Easy - It's great when you feel/see them wriggling around like that isn't it. Shame you only got a naff portable ultrasound tho. Ah well, at least you got to see bits of her, eh?

DP is working away again til Thursday but thankfully DS is keeping me company tonight. I hate it when DP is away

ChocolateHobnob · 08/10/2007 21:37

I must admit, I'm sad enough to love kitchenware presents... but I'm a bit of a cooking junkie... or I was before pregnancy wore me out!

Kayla - sorry to hear about bp and urine. Hope the results come back fine! Not sure what liver choleostosis is but it doesn't sound good.

RG - I hate DH being away too.

Easy, glad the scan went fine. Shame about the wriggling but least it means lo is well.

Sparkly - Callum's a little star!

We tried to talk to the inlaws, but they weren't easy (OK so that's not new...). I'm worn out with it so have decided to ignore it for now. I'm shattered tonight - work is fine in itself but I'm too pregnant for it really. Off to bed now. Working from home tomorrow which'll help. Sleep well all!

choudru · 08/10/2007 22:07

Evening everyone,

Glad to hear everyone seems to be getting all excited. I must admit I am looking forward to meeting my baby but can't seem to accept the reality that very shortly I will be a mother of 2! You'd think having been pregnant before, I'd be more accepting but I can't seem to relate this big belly with a brand new member of the family.

Had our 3rd antenatal class on saturday and looked at positions for labour and how partners can help with stroking and massage. Was very useful - DH was very involved and I even did the massage on him to show him how it felt. I do love DH for participating so fully in the antenatal classes. He actually looks like he's enjoying them

Chochobnob - thanks to you and everyone else who keeps harping on about Wispas - I now have to join your ranks.

My name is choudru and I am a Wispa addict.

My brother bought me one at the weekend and it brought back so many memories. Reminded me of when my mum used to send me to the shops when I was little and I used to buy a chocolate bar with the change and scoff it before getting home. He he.

I bought 5 today and have eaten 2 so far.

Watched a DVD of 2 births today. Half made me nervous for my own but half made me feel a little more prepared for how things could develop.

RG - your nickname should be Statto (anyone remember him from Fantasy Football?)

Loopy - I so know how you feel. Sometimes DH is 'helping' but ends up making me feel more stressed because he's done half a job (in my eyes) or has taken twice as long, or has ended up neglecting something else instead. Sometimes I have the strength to bite my tongue and sometimes I don't. Makes me feel like sh1t though because I know he tried! You're best bet is to moan at us instead of him. We can take it!

By the way - pregnant or breastfeeding women are not expected to fast during Ramadan.

Will catch up on the thread properly tomorrow...Off to bed now.

Pixiefish · 08/10/2007 22:18

Was listening to the hypnobirthing cd in the bath tonight and flippin dh marched in wanting to know what to do with dd's we tpyjamas- she'd spilled water on herslef.

You did not want to be in my bathroom at that moment in time- I absolutely blew up and then burst into tears

Jossiejump · 09/10/2007 06:28

Silkcushion-we did that to our NCT class-didn't make the fifth class due to having had DS1, then turned up to the 6th class with a baby. Was talking to our friends from the class about it yesterday (DS is now 7, this week) and said how funny it was to see them all thinking "Oh s* this is really going to happen!"

Jossiejump · 09/10/2007 06:31

Sorry can't even pretend swear properly-s not s!

iris66 · 09/10/2007 07:04

morning all - very stressful few days (with sugars worse on insulin than off it and a huge fall out with my big sis - long story)so not sleeping well again I really want this LO out now (well, after Thu when DH gets home anyway )

I've been trying to keep up with everything but hadn't really had time to post - we're getting so close to the end of our pgs now aren't we! And what a bunch of chocoholics!!!!.... "I see addicted people, but they don't know they're addicted...."

izyboy - hi and glad you decided to post Are you on mat leave?/SAHM?

Pixiefish - I am getting a little weary of my hormones now too.

RGPargy - it's pants when DP's aren't around isn't it. DD only felt DS move once and was a bit embarassed - she couldn't keep her hands off this one though so maybe next time your DS won't feel so uncomfortable. It's a big thing at their age isn't it - not least the proof that their beloved perfect parent actually has sex .

KaylaBmummy - hope all your tests come back ok and that the readings were just a one off (I'm hoping mine will be back to normal on wed for my appt with the consultants) Maybe best to avoid too much lemon drizzle cake though regarding the sugar (reckon you're having a boy btw!)

Loopy - PMSL at the milton - that'd sting eh! Glad you've got your doula sorted and that she's so flexible in her support (bargain too to boot!)

Choudru - I'm getting that "OMG I'll have 2 LO's" feeling as well (DD didn't factor last time as she's so old) I just hope I get some brain function back or I'll never cope! Last time I ended up making a list of things we eat so that when DH/DD came in saying "what's for dinner" I wouldn't have an "I don't know what to cook" wibble in front of a full fridge Though I do now have a freezer full of meals so hopefully it'll be easier.

Silkcushion - congratulations on starting your maternity leave.

Anyway, best go & get breakfast organised. I've got another growth scan later today but will try to catch up tonight. Have a good one all

berrybliss · 09/10/2007 10:37

SGK- gald that Callum is doing so well! Keep us posted on his progress!!

There's a lady who has had a few early babies (24, 27, 31 weeks) and i thought maybe you could chat to her as she's a bit down, as doctors have said that she'll have to have a Csec at 34 weeks. You have had the same experiences as her and you're so positive. Callum is a lovely example of a healthy 33/34 week baby.
Hope ypu don't mind me telling her about you.
x

here

sparklygothkat · 09/10/2007 11:51

thanks BB have left her a message. MW came today just to have a nosy at Callum really, as she didn't really need to see me as I had all my postnatal checks at the hospital. Dd2 is ill atm, so off school. Callum is waking once at 4am for a feed, with his last feed before that at about 11-12pm. So am getting sleep!!

RGPargy · 09/10/2007 12:22

Morning everyone

Choudru - It's a bit freaky isn't it, when you think that you're growing another human being inside you! Glad your DH is participating fully in the classes. I sometimes wish i'd booked up to go now as DP doesn't really have a clue what to expect and is relying on me to lead the way. The last thing i want tho is for him to feel out of his depth because he doesn't know what's going on or to be scared/panicky etc. Spose i'll have to do my best to just reassure him.

I never watched Fantasy Football so i had to google Statto. Cheeky! :-P

Pixie - Dont you just HATE it when that happens?? I mean, FGS! Couldn't he have waited til you got out of the bath and in the meantime just put on clean PJs? Hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Jossie - Not sure i get the difference between the two asterisks! You can just say "sh1t" - we dont mind!

Iris - I do think he wants to have a feel because sometimes he'll just put his hand on my bump and say "ahhhhh", but in a jokey way. I've borrowed a girl at work's prenatal monitor thing and last night i actually managed to pick up the heart beat and he had a listen on that. Dont you know tho that all babies born to parents with teenage children were put there by immaculate conception? All teenagers know that! Hope the scan goes well!

I've woken up feeling really peed off this morning. Think it's because i had a really weird dream about DS. I wont go into great depth but in my dream he was about 2 or 3 but had had big chunks cut out of the front of his legs with this saw thing. I'd been watching Extreme Makeover last night so I must have got all the gore from that (although there was no blood, strangely enough!). But we pulled into this petrol station (no idea who i was with) and i remember looking at DS in his car seat and he was fast asleep but looked so pale, like toddlers do when they get really really tired. More than the leg thing, the image of him asleep in his car seat has made me all hormonal and miserable. Plus the fact that i really didn't want to come into work today. It's so frustrating dragging my arse into work, doing the 20 minute walk from the station with a sore pelvis (each way!) and then sitting here and doing absolutely NOTHING!

I feel like i need something to really cheer me up - like a lottery win! Failing that, perhaps i should get some chocolate instead.

Have a good day everyone.

FCH · 09/10/2007 12:23

Hello!

Loopy - I am now firmly ensconsed in Plymouth - not a MQ as we bought together a few years ago while we were trying to decide about the marriage thing, but I am certainly up for meeting up for a coffee. You have moved out of town though haven't you? By the way I was going to go to that NCT nearly new sale before I got distracted by going away for a friend's birthday, and I did wonder if I should be looking out for you!!

The Milton tablet thing made me laugh - did your DH get confused on this one? I can quite see how and will definitely pass that little gem along

Silkcushion - lol at your to do list. I have basically achieved a lot of writing on my to do list, and not much crossing things off it. The thing is that DH is a bit of a neat freak and so keeps saying things like "and what should we do with the pile of things under the sink in the bathroom" and I keep thinking "ignore it - it might go away on its own!!". I can see that some greater organisation is going to be required to preserve harmony in our household!

Fiona - love the kitchen whizz - mine bought me slippers at xmas for the same reason "but you said you wanted some" fortunately he did redeem himself by also buying a nice coat in Hobbs in the January sales but he almost got in real trouble!!

Kayla - so sorry about your medical news but do try to remember that this is probably the most stressful thing you will ever put your body through and at least they are taking proper care of you even if it is a huge pain, so just rest up and remember that in a few weeks' time you will have a gorgeous baby to show for it

Easy - love the eel comment! I just got back from the Doc's who said she could feel shoulders but no head, although it was difficult to tell when it kept wriggling. Nice to know that it is still seeming pretty happy in there though - I am starting to worry there isn't enough space!!

Iris - I am impressed by the freezer organisation. Mine is tiny and one of the things on my massive to do list is to remove the non-essentials (particularly all the ice-blocks that are taking up most of it!) and replace them with food for after the baby arrives, but it does all seem rather a lot of effort - maybe tomorrow

And SGK - I can't believe Callum is sleeping so well, it is such good news, especially as my GP was telling me this morning that I should be keen to wait another couple of weeks before the baby arrives or I will be feeding constantly for weeks.

Anyway - off to get my TENS machine - I have found a place in town that does 4 weeks rental for £18. The chemist's wife is a midwife though so perhaps that explains it!
