@Cornishbumpkin
Yes I know she did bless her, I tried to play it down etc. But then because I wanted to escape I forgot the syringes for harvesting colostrum, damn it!

@Millettmum sending hugs xx

By the way, I have some colostrum syringes I'm happy to post if you want them. I ordered them but didn't bother in the end! They're individually sterile wrapped. DM me if you want them :)

Huge congrats @umabb!! Glad it went well and hope the tear heals quickly!

My consultant appt was accidentally cancelled apparently so now they are squeezing me in tomorrow for my last growth scan and decision on induction or wait it out! Eek!! Still can't decide what to do for the best. Getting impatient to meet him now for sure!! 🥰💙

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth
That would be lovely thank you, how do I DM in the app?

@umabb gorgeous boy, congratulations!

I am stuck in a work zoom meeting and having mild contractions, cervix pain, trying not to be sick and very dizzy. I'm a real slow early labourer so probably am still weeks off still but had to turn my camera off so no one can see me rocking back and forth! Bleurgh, just bleurgh 🤢

@Zoey92 I'm 37+5 and I've had the same as you for the last couple of days! I definitely think it's our bodies preparing 😊 hopefully they won't keep us waiting too long!

@Millettmum I don't know!

Can anyone help us with how to DM another user in the app? Or online version? Thanks x

As far as I can see you can't PM in the app. You'll have to go to the website on your phone or desktop. Then go to the chat, and under the person you want to pm click the three dots and then PM

Well done and congratulations @umabb ! 💕💕

Woke up at 4 am today and took a 2 hour nap at 8am 😂 totally do not feel like doing anything today. I'll try to do some stretches maybe but I'm aiming to just letting myself be lazy today ! Tomorrow is due date 😬 only difference I feel is I think he's lower now. His head or arms are moving so much and quite uncomfortable on my bladder , think he's finally looking for a way out 😂 saying that though I still feel it quite hard and tight right under my boobs and ribs. I hope he's engaging !

What are everyone's baby's movements like now? Mine had the same routine for about 10 week but since Saturday it seems to be constantly moving! Sometimes really strong energetic movements and sometimes little ones but it's very rare that I don't feel him/her at all at the moment. I did get monitored on Tuesday because of the increased movements and everything looked fine. I'm wondering if this is something I should be worried about? Or if it's normal at this stage?

@chocolate26 mine has never had too much of a pattern but I've not been worried about it. As long as it does move! In the last few weeks it's gone from the punches and kicks I was used to, to more like strong stretching. I can watch its bum stretching the front of my bump out and wiggling from side to side! Guess it's running out of space now. (38+1)

Seems like quite a few people around 37-38 weeks think they might be gearing up for labour, and/or considering sweeps and inductions. I understand if there's a clinical reason or previous birth trauma meaning not wanting to go for vaginal birth, but for others, is there a reason you'd prefer your babies to come early? It's a personal thing obviously and I'm just interested. I read that full term is 39-41 weeks, so (and I know I'm really lucky that my baby and I seem happy and healthy at the moment) I personally don't want baby here before 39 weeks unless it's ready. Due dates can also be iffy so I wouldn't want to risk it being a bit 'premature' as some end up needing neonatal care if they come out too soon (too soon for them, that is, rather than by some date). Just wondering what people's feelings are about wanting baby out sooner or later (in cases where they are fairly low risk).

@chocolate26 mine are the same; constant and very strong, sometimes enough to make me sick or need to run to the loo Blush. I'm not sure if it's because apparently this one is long and skinny but they can also turn a full 360° which isn't exactly comfortable. The feet getting "hooked" in ribs is particularly grim I'm always trying to push them back out again. My daughter was always very active too and when she was born she was such a wriggly newborn; older family and midwives all commented how unusual she was - so I think it's just how I build them!

@chocolate26 I'm def feeling babys movements more strongly than before and more of a pattern - probably from around 37 weeks. He seems to be a little night time party animal and goes crazy every evening for about 4 hours! Not sure if it's just lack of space now feeling him so strongly - as others have described it's more of a stretching or rolling movement than flutters and kicks.

@NakeliP this is an ivf pregnancy and my hospital induce on due date for that. I've pushed back as I really dont want an induction if possible and agreed instead to have 2 sweeps this week (at 40 and 40+2). Currently the plan is to be induced on Monday at 40+5 but in 2 minds whether to go ahead or give baby a bit more time. Is anyone else having an ivf baby and have similar/different experience?

Thank you, I ended up creating a different account as well.

@NakeliP
I thought it was classed as full term from 37 weeks? That's what my midwife said today as well.

Congratulations @umabb he's gorgeous! Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Been quiet the last few days as I have had a frustrating couple. Had a sweep on Monday morning and then my mucus plug came away on Tuesday afternoon about 1.30pm. Consultant had told me that at the sweep he got me to 3cm dilated so when the plug came away (which is quite frankly gross) and my stomach started cramping loads I thought it was all systems go. This is my first though so maybe I'm an idiot but I don't know what contractions feel like. Anyway as cramps were getting worse and more frequent and given I was at 3cm already I rang the hospital and me and hubby made the 1hr trip in arriving at about 12am on Tuesday night.

Midwife examined me and said she could feel babies head but she thought I was only 1cm 😓 she said my cervix wasn't ready and was asking if I was sure the consultant said 3cm. I told her yes, she checked my notes where he had written it and came back and told me she didn't agree with him, that I was at 1cm and had a long way to go. Don't get me wrong, she was really nice and she gave me another sweep while she was there but I couldn't help but feel as if I'd gone backwards and felt bad about getting hubby and my mums hopes up. Basically spent a day feeling sorry for myself with another crampy stomach but have now perked myself up a bit. Nothing more I can do but wait and hope that next time I will definitely know. Despite the 1cm and loss of mucus plug I don't think this baby has any intentions of making an appearance before or on Saturday when I'm due. Reassuring to read though loads of us are in the same frustrated boat

@umabb congratulations 😍😍!! Hope you’re resting up now.

@Smiffette how exciting! I’m expecting to go over too, when they’re cooked I’m sure they’ll make an appearance. Midwife was trying to get me to do a sweep next Wednesday, haven’t decided yet whether to go ahead or not.

@NakeliP I think full term is classed as from 37 weeks. I’m 37+1 and the only reason I’m trying to get baby here sooner is because she’s already estimated to be 7lbs 8oz so I’ve been told she could end up being 10lbs if I go overdue, so I’d rather she decided to come early naturally (which as much encouragement from me as possible) than end up being induced.
Obviously if induction is the safest thing for us both then fine, but I’d rather avoid it if I can ♥️

Report
SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 04/06/2020 16:41

@NakeliP my decision to go for induction was based on the data that there is a small increase in stillbirth risk from 39 weeks. For me personally the risk of induction are more acceptable than risk of stillbirth so I'm being induced on Sunday at 39wks. Technically 37 weeks is classed as full term but keeping them in till 39 is advised as low chance of issues at that stage.

@Kez437 I had a sweep this morning and was just coming on to ask what folks experiences were! I've lost alot of blood tinged mucus and the period like pain in my belly is getting progressively worse. However there's a feckin boiler engineer here so I can't run a bath till he leaves! 😂 Last time I went from 0-8cm in three hours and had baby 2 1/2 hours after that so I have no clue when I should go back in. I think I'll just wait till there's any kind of pattern or the pain becomes too much. If all else fails, induction on Sunday it is.

@NakeliP for me both my sisters have had 4 horrible births and my mum has just died suddenly 5 weeks ago and she was my best friend in the world I am going down the sweep route as it's natural and I am terrified of going over due and needing inducing or a section.
I want to avoid any further potential trauma if I can because I genuinely don't think I would cope x

@mrssunshinexxx I'm so sorry to hear that and completely understand and respect your circumstances x

Apologies if I've offended anyone. I was genuinely curious about how people feel being earlier or later and hope it didn't come across like a) I was demanding a justification and being tactless or b) I'm thick! My personal opinion was not wanting baby out before it's fully cooked and was interested to hear other views, appreciating I'm in a very fortunate physical and mental situation with no recent or past experiences factoring in.

I've re-read the information I read a couple of weeks back and apologies for getting the UK definitions muddled (blame baby brain?). What I'd read was a redefining of terms in the US. So there they talk about 'term' being that entire time between 37-42 weeks but then break it down further so 39-41 is full term with before that being early term and after that being late, with 42+ being post term. Speaking to my midwife it sounded like the NHS feels similarly but don't define it down to that level. She was surprised any midwife would discuss sweeps before 41 weeks (for first timers) unless there were clinical reasons or women had asked (for any number of unique and personal reasons as some of you have outlined already). Baby brain, perhaps I imagined in previous threads some people's midwives talking about sweeps pre-40/41 weeks as a sort of standard offer?

@Goldenmother yes I have had that feeling for the past few weeks. Now just over 40 weeks and getting even worse - feels like baby could fall out of me any second! I think its when the head engages - started to get the feeling when he started engaging and now hes fully engaged it's pretty uncomfortable! Nice and reassuring tho that hes started his downwards descent!

@Girlinajumpsuit thank you for your reply I've never had this feeling before so wasn't sure, I guess it's a good sign baby making progress
