Thanks @mrssunshinexxx and @peetieswie I hate saying it but at the time I felt like such a failure for needing an epidural and then needing a c-section but thinking it through there's a reason our babies didn't want to come out the natural way and so we made our choices for the safety of our little ones. @mrssunshinexxx got home at 11 last night, delayed being discharge due to uncertainty over whether little man had weed since birth as had changed 4 poos before 10 then nothing came out for 12hrs. Thankfully when midwife took his nappy off at half ten he peed all over the bed
@peetieswie that sounds scary about you blood loss. How are you ladies recovering? Today I feel like I've done some crazy ab workout plus healing wound pain. P.S I just can't stop staring at Freddie I'm just amazed he's finally here

Congratulations @cornishbumpkin. Had a similar experience with failed epidurals and then heamorraged during c section which was scary but to be honest I didn't care by then as was so glad the pain was over. Had big baby and also never got beyond 5cm. So frustrating and I did so much to get her to be the right way round and it obviously didn't work. Glad he's here safe. I was quite negative about planned c sections but totally get it now, as the end result was the same without all that trauma and pain.

Congratulations on the babies ladies. Not quite the birth I had envisaged here
Trigger warning for fairly negative induction experience started induction process on Saturday morning with 24hr pessary which didn't do anything, no beds available on delivery suite to move to next stage so kept on antenatal ward for 24 hrs, eventually got to delivery suite 1pm Monday, couldn't break waters as cervix closed. On drip for 20 hours have the most horrendous pains in pelvis. After 1 failed epidural (plus one successful one and only getting to 5cm in that time Freddie was born at 15:06 on Tuesday via c-section weighing 10lb 3oz (he'd turned his head to the side and became unhappy with the contractions). He's so perfect and worth every minute of pain!

@magpiefeather I didn't need to go to the IV drip stage, I only needed the pessary & a sweep to get things moving. My hospital induction process was 1. Pessary (which stays in for 24 hours) 2. Gels (which if I remember rightly go in 3 times at 6 hour intervals) 3. Break waters 4. IV Drip.

I was nervous about pain relief and they indicated that they could have put the epidural in before commencing the IV drip, if I had needed it. I would have asked for that!

My family are amazed that I got through my labour on gas and air (I'm a wimp). It was very manageable, so try not to worry. I know I had forceps but I didn't find that a bad experience - We just realized that I was pushing and I couldn't quite get her out.

Keep relaxed and you will forget this wait ever existed! X

Congratulations @peetieswie and @Magpie21! Great news and hope you’re both recovering well. Still no baby here. Midwife coming to do a sweep this afternoon really hoping that gets me going, otherwise I will be induced on Sunday which I’m nervous about! Did you end up only having the Pessary (no drip) Magpie?

Hi everyone! Sorry for the radio silence after my message the other day! I ended up going into labour after my induction (24 hour pessary). I had a 9.5 hour labour with gas and air (I had asked for the epidural, as a nervous flyer! But it was felt I was progressing well that an epidural would slow things down, so I kept going). After over an hour of pushing I ended up in theatre for a forcep delivery. It all felt very controlled and I was comfortable and happy to get my baby girl out safely 😊

I had an episiotomy, which doesn't hurt as much as I had I'd imagined it would. Back at home with DH and baby! Now for the journey of breastfeeding:-)

Congratulations to anyone else who had their baby this week. To anyone else waiting...it is so worth the wait!!!

Oh @peetieswie a huge congratulations on the arrival of winifred!! (Love the name!!) I'm so sorry it was so traumatic, mine was very similar and its hard to process but the newborn snuggles will help. Look after yourself and I hope your recovery is smooth and swift! Xx

Baby Winifred was born this morning via c section after a very traumatic labour and epidural that didn't work. Tried so hard for natural labour but no progress and then wish I'd gone straight to c section even though I hemmaroaged during the procedure and had to be put under general anaesthetic. Baby is beautiful. 9 pounds 9.

Congratulations @josiejo1990 that’s amazing!

I’ve just got back from a walk and have the worst back pain, bum pain and inner thigh pain I’ve ever had. It is hard to move now! Wondering (as with everything) whether it’s a sign or just a sign that I’m very very pregnant!

well guys that was crazy...contractions started very sporadically about an hour after waters went. went in to hosp 8pm as planned fully expecting to be 1-2cm and get sent home....6-7cm!! was 3rd in line for epidural and when anaesthetist finally arrived she got called away on an emergency. felt like crying at that point ended up having my boy with just gas and air at 23.52. his name is Beau and he was 8lbs 9.5oz. couple minor tears stitched up. staying overnight but cannot sleep just keep staring at my beautiful boy ❤
