Sweep tomorrow. I will be 40+5. Getting so impatient and trying to remind baby isn't technically late for over another week really.

mrssunshinexxx · 23/06/2020 17:05

@peetieswie have you had one before what did mw say about your cervix ?

When will you be induced I'm booked for sat when I'll be 41 weeks not sure if it's too early but very aware of still born rates going up and anxious about that given that induction could take dayssss

peetieswie · 23/06/2020 17:48

No, midwife and I decided against a sweep last week so tomorrow will be first.. Think I'll be offered induction later this week but I think I will refuse it to be honest. I am nervous about stillborn rates but baby seems happy and moving at the moment, and I'm not sure about cause and effect - surely a stillborn baby will naturally be born later due to it not triggering labour, rather than it being the result of being born later. I'm not sure of my logic there but I'm not convinced by the research.

Zoey92 · 23/06/2020 17:56

@josiejo1990 @mrssunshinexxx fingers crossed, I'd like to go naturally within next few days but we shall see
I'll be 41wks on sunday which is when they like to induce if possible in my area and if you're willing to go ahead.
Have to go for Covid testing thurs/fri if im not already in labour.

peetieswie · 23/06/2020 18:21

Think labour might not be far off - feeling a bit sick today, had some pressure on my cervix, and feeling really emotional and a bit tearful. Had a look online and they all seem like signs. 😬

Magpiefeather · 23/06/2020 19:27

Ooh hope so @peetieswie!

I’ve not been told when my trust like to induce second time mums... I agree like you I am reluctant to accept induction based on dates alone. I though anywhere up to 42 weeks was normal? And actually at my dating scan they moved my due date (by my reckoning it should be 2nd July) so baby may not even be late at all! I would rather have extra monitoring I think (not to say I wouldn’t eventually go for induction, who knows!)

I’ve had no signs today really other than the usual - a few minor cramps and some cervix bashing from baby - i get these every day though.

Magpie21 · 23/06/2020 19:50

I hope things progress for you in the next 24 hours! @zoey92 The immediate show of the mucus must be a good sign! x

I have just been out for my second walk of the day to try and move things along.

MsMiaWallace · 24/06/2020 08:22

Good morning guys.
I had my little boy Toby on Monday by ELCS.
He's gorgeous. 7lb 4oz.
I'm not going to lie I've found the C Section process very tough. It's certainly not an easy route out.
I had to wear face mask for the birth too which was crap. although i slipped it down for first kisses etc.
Just waiting to be discharged today hopefully.
Little man had a rash come up which indicated low platelets but he is doing fine. They're just being overly cautious.

mrssunshinexxx · 24/06/2020 08:36

Well my waters went in the bed at 3am went to labour ward and monitored been having regular tightenings since but not for long enough have until 3am tonight to be in active labour or they will need to include still please cross everything that this baby and my body behave and do it without intervention x

Zoey92 · 24/06/2020 08:38

Good morning ladies.
Woke at 2:10am with contractions, waters broke at 2:40am, was at hosp 3am, was 5cm dilated &
Little Amelia-Grace was born 4.33am 6lb15

All happened very quick with only gas & air, slight anterior tear that required stitches
But we're all doing very good 😊

mrssunshinexxx · 24/06/2020 08:47

@Zoey92 oh my word that sounds intense but perfect well done you!

Send some good luck my way please ! X

Busylizzie85 · 24/06/2020 08:47

@Busylizzie85 😘

josiejo1990 · 24/06/2020 08:59

wow congratulations @MsMiaWallace @zoey92 so pleased for you both!

@mrssunshinexxx are they not sending you home in the mean time then? fingers crossed you go yourself but either way yay baby is nearly here!

me I've woken up with even less symptoms than the last 2 days lol. 39+4 midwife tomorrow but probably wont even get a sweep at this stage

mrssunshinexxx · 24/06/2020 09:05

@josiejo1990 I came home at 5am monitoring took a while as her heart rate kept slowing when. I had a tightening when laid on my back but was ok when laid on side tried to sleep but couldn't think I may of dozed a little going to get up now and keep active may have a nap later if I can.
Hopefully I will be 3-4cm by 3am but if not atleast I can skip the 24 hour pessary and having my waters broken part !

josiejo1990 · 24/06/2020 09:08

@mrssunshinexxx ohhh dont overdo it hope you can get some rest 😊 I'm not surprised you can't sleep my heart would be racing! Good luck

Magpiefeather · 24/06/2020 09:39

Oh wow congratulations @MsMiaWallace and @Zoey92! Zoey that is so fast I bet it was quite a whirlwind!

Also good luck @mrssunshinexxx. Easier said than done but try and relax, think positive thoughts and try and get some oxytocin going! Sounds really very strange to suggest to a (relative) stranger on the internet but I’ve read that nipple stimulation is great for getting oxytocin flowing and getting labour moving! All the very best

I’ve got my sweep today so reaaaaally hoping that gets me going.

@josiejo1990 it’s worth asking anyway... I’ve known people who have had sweeps at 39+ weeks although the midwife I saw on Friday wouldn’t do one for me.

APD1981 · 24/06/2020 09:55

Ahhh congratulations @mrsmiawallace and @zoey92.

Zoey your labour sounded very like mine. I still can't get over how quickly he came!

Enjoy you babies, ladies xxx

mrssunshinexxx · 24/06/2020 11:12

@Magpiefeather I will definitely do that :)
Lost mucus plug now and had urge to go to the loo very quickly sorry tmi pains coming quite regular but not lasting longer than about 20 seconds so I think I'm a way off text

Cornishbumpkin · 24/06/2020 12:08

Congratulations @MsMiaWallace hope you get home soon and start settling in, sorry to hear you section experience wasn't all positive.
Wow @Zoey92 sounds like dream birth being that quick, shows sweeps can work
Good luck @mrssunshinexxx you got this Grin

I on the other hand still have zero signs of this man making an appearance anytime soon, seeing midwife for sweep tomorrow after her not being able to even reach my cervix to do one last week! Back to having bad sleep with this heat again too!

Hope everyone else is managing this little heatwave

41+2

Magpie21 · 24/06/2020 12:29

Congratulations @MsMiaWallace I love the name Toby!! 🥰 Hope you are feeling well, it will get easier as the days go on!

@mrssunshinexxx keeping everything crossed for you x

@zoey92 There we go! Congratulations! That's an amazing outcome after a difficult couple of weeks of waiting for you. Hope you can get home quickly!

@Cornishbumpkin sounds like we had a similar sweep experience - my midwife said my cervix (I think that is right) was to posterior to do a full on membrane sweep. I just got back from my appointment and I feel quite emotional that it wasn't more positive, which so silly because I have been trying to be really relaxed and not pin all my hopes on this. I also won't get another chance for a sweep before an induction, only a telephone consultation (!) to discuss the induction process.

peetieswie · 24/06/2020 16:11

Had midwife appointment. Baby's heart rate was a bit high so they didn't do sweep and are sending me to the hospital to test a bit more. Baby was moving loads tho so I wonder if that's why it was a bit high. Hoping they don't tell me I need c section or induction.

Pegase · 24/06/2020 16:38

@MsMiaWallace hang in there. My first two days after ELCS were awful but already feeling nearly back to normal (on day 9)

Magpiefeather · 24/06/2020 17:07

Hope the hospital tests have gone well @peetieswie.

I had my mw appointment and a failed sweep. She said cervix is soft and thick, she could only get a fingertip in so couldn’t do the actual sweep. So she started talking about induction but she could tell I was not keen so she has arranged two more sweeps and said she’d recommend induction at 42 weeks if I’m still waiting then.

Tbh the worst bit was being masked - feel like I can’t breathe with a mask on. Obviously also a bit disheartened that I’m not on the way to being dilated already, but I know really that doesn’t matter and things could still happen at any minute.

On the plus side baby is in a better position, back to my side rather than back to back. Also head is a bit more engaged. She started feeling my belly and went “wow he’s ready!” So not sure whether to take it that he’s going to be big?

Just really want to have a spontaneous labour and get him here safely.

Magpie21 · 24/06/2020 17:33

@magpiefeather sounds we are in a similar boat today then. I have relaxed a bit this afternoon and calmed down. I just felt a bit disheartened when my sweep didn't work and in my trust they don't offer another sweep before an induction (which for me would be at the end of next week).

Good that they are offering you another sweep (or 2), that seems to have worked well for others on the chat.

I shall continue my walks and bouncing on a birthing ball!
