We had mil round for a garden visit and I did let her hold the baby.

Mainly because she has been held by so many medical professionals since birth - doing her newborn check, weighing her, helping with breastfeeding in hospital that it seemed nonsensical to exclude a family member who is far lower risk than someone working in a hospital!

Pegase · 22/06/2020 08:41

Wasn't going to but then I thought we literally had the midwife round this morning touching her who is going house to house. There is no logic denying a close family member ( not intending to pass her round widely!!)

Magpiefeather · 22/06/2020 09:26

@Magpie21 I have no idea when my next appointment is! I’m really annoyed about it, I couldnt get in touch with anyone to sort it out on Friday, it’s my mission to sort it today.

The midwife clinic is only at my GP every 2 weeks, which means there’s no clinic this week. The mw I saw on Friday just gone was covering and basically didn’t know how I go about having my next appointment. We are quite rural and an hour from the hospital I’m going to give birth to, really hope I don’t have to trek all the way there for a ten min appointment (mainly because I’d have to sort childcare for dd which would be a nightmare). Anyway I’ve been trying various numbers for the community midwives and have texted my usual midwife so reaaaaally hope she will get back to me this morning. Grrrr one thing I could do without having to worry about! I mean I was hoping I would have a baby in the meantime so wouldn’t even need 41 week appointment but it looks like I will in the end!

40+1 today . Loads of twinges yesterday so doing everything I can to get things going today.

Cornishbumpkin · 22/06/2020 11:15

41 weeks today and this little man is far too comfy!!

@LittleMrsMama I had to have quite a frank conversation with my best friend last week as she was booking herself in to come and visit at the end of July (she live 5 hours away) . I said to her that with the current situation I wasn't really happy with little man having too much contact with people and it would be a waste for her to come down and see him from 2m away. She was actually really understanding and we've agreed to FaceTime so she can meet him that way. I think if your honest with friends and family then if they care about you and your baby they will understand x

mrssunshinexxx · 22/06/2020 11:17

@Cornishbumpkin are you booked to be induced ? Any sweeps ? X

Rinoa · 22/06/2020 11:25

@Magpiefeather you have to put either a band or a sleeping bag they provide. It uses the shapes on them to monitor the breathing. They call it breathing wear. There are no electrics attached so it's pretty good as we didn't want any electrics around baby.

Magpie21 · 22/06/2020 11:49

@Rinoa that's good to know! I may see how things goes in the beginning and then order from there.

@magpiefeather I hope your appointment gets sorted. It's the last thing you need to be dealing with at this time!

@cornishbunpkin Happy 41 weeks! I hope you are feeling well.

Cornishbumpkin · 22/06/2020 12:42

@mrssunshinexxx midwife attempted a sweep last Tuesday but said my cervix was too far back, having another attempt this Thursday then if that unsuccessful will be booked for induction on Saturday 😱 not keen on induction so hoping he moves his butt before then lol

Thanks @Magpie21 just starting to get a bit uncomfortable and less tolerant of the impatient family 😂 my original due date from LMP is tomorrow so I'm holding out for him hopefully coming then. Fingers crossed you don't have too much longer either

Zoey92 · 22/06/2020 12:48

Feeling very uncomfortable today. Was exhausted yesterday.
Little one still nice and active. Quite abit pressure & back pain & down below actually aches and swollen (sorry TMI) as i think shes so low 🤦‍♀️
Woke up this morning feeling abit sickly too

LittleMrsMama · 22/06/2020 13:01

Thanks for all the insight, glad to hear it's not just me worrying about visitors and people holding the baby. @pegase I can completely see how that makes sense. Holding the baby would mean nothing to the health professionals but so much to your family I'm sure. My challenge is we have 3 front line key workers in the family including my mum and DHs dad and they don't seem to care about social distancing. Maybe if we said they had to wear a face covering and not touch the baby, just the blanket she's wrapped in we'd feel a bit better.

@chocolate26 I'm so sorry you have to go through this and feel the pressure from extended family and friends. I think during normal times people would leave new parents alone to settle with their baby for the first week or two, but even more so with Covid.

@mrssunshinexxx that's really good to know. Ideally I'd like to do that as DH only has 2 weeks paternity and want him to spend some time with the baby too. How have your friends and family taken it? Was the medical advice what they told you or any chance you have a link to an article I could send people?

@UKtoSK sorry to hear you're also worrying about it! We also have key worker parents so concerned for the same reasons. I just hope I know what to do when the baby is here! Have you managed any expectations up front or are going to wait and see too?

mrssunshinexxx · 22/06/2020 13:33

@Cornishbumpkin exactly the same sweep last wed cervix too far back Booked for another on wed induction on sat if she doesn't come 🤞

mrssunshinexxx · 22/06/2020 13:36

@LittleMrsMama I asked my consultant.
Dad understands I may end up needing to see him much sooner due to grieving my mum.

In-laws aren't ecstatic but it's tough.

X

Gigitree · 22/06/2020 17:34

Thank you so much for the tear advice @Magpiefeather I really appreciate it ♥️ Xxx

Millettmum · 23/06/2020 07:49

Seeing the consultant today. They'll be pushing induction again, I'll see if I can still hold them off. 38+5

josiejo1990 · 23/06/2020 08:36

39+3. thought I had the starting of plug last night but nothing further overnight..disappointing. Hope we had a Father's Day baby or two Smile

mrssunshinexxx · 23/06/2020 09:50

I had the worse back pain all afternoon yesterday really thought I was going to wake up overnight with something but .. nothing

40+3
3rd sweep tomorrow really really hope there has been a change in my cervix and the mw can do a good one

josiejo1990 · 23/06/2020 10:01

fingers crossed @mrssunshinexxx back pain is no fun. I've just been to the toilet again and theres a wee bit of...orangey coloured mucous sorry tmi. last pregnancy I waited 2 days before something else happened though so trying to stay calm!

Zoey92 · 23/06/2020 10:27

@mrssunshinexxx me too it was horrific, i could also barely walk due to the aching in lower bump.
Midwife later on this afternoon, hoping for a second sweep.
@josiejo1990 I've had mucus on an off aboit a week an half

mrssunshinexxx · 23/06/2020 10:42

@Zoey92 @josiejo1990 aslong as something happens before sat (induced) I'll be ecstatic honestly

Magpiefeather · 23/06/2020 12:08

Finally got my appointment sorted. Seeing mw for a stretch and sweep tomorrow so that’s a relief! It’s my usual midwife as well which I’m so happy about. Not sure what happens with appointments beyond that but I will hopefully find out tomorrow. I think I’ll have to go to the hospital which is an hour away (if I’m still pregnant!).

I think I felt baby turn yesterday from back to back to his bum sticking right out under my ribs, I really hope so and am hoping mw can confirm tomorrow!

Good luck everyone you’ve got this!

Magpie21 · 23/06/2020 12:11

We have had a quiet few days on the baby front! Hopefully we can change that by Friday!

Wishing everyone who is having sweeps best of luck. I have my 40 week appointment tomorrow morning and really hoping I will be offered one if everything looks good. Also slightly nervous that I am within days of things kicking off!

josiejo1990 · 23/06/2020 14:45

@zoey92 both my previous pregnancies I didnt have it til something was really happening so I'm just wishful thinking!

Good luck both magpies, all sounding promising Smile

Zoey92 · 23/06/2020 16:00

Well ladies back from midwife.
I've had a 2nd sweep which i produce a show of pink mucus straight away.
Her head is 4/5 engaged & my cervix is only 1cm.
Im still only 2cm dilated which was abit disappointing, but im hoping this 2nd sweep will be the one.
She said if she could break my waters there and then there would have been no issue at all.
If all else fails I'm booked for 10am Sunday morning for induction 😊
Best get on that ball ladies

40+2

josiejo1990 · 23/06/2020 16:04

@zoey92 so exciting to have the end in sight Smile hope things ramp up soon for you

mrssunshinexxx · 23/06/2020 16:30

@Zoey92 that sounds promising !
Fingers crossed mine is good tomorrow
