@AlmostAlwyn congrats! What a positive (and speedy) birth story 🥰🥰
@itsybitsya hope you're doing well...not long now 😊

itsybitsya · 27/04/2020 21:44

Cramps are getting stronger, just laying in the dark trying to keep relaxed and calm, positive thoughts please ladies, feeling a bit wobbly being on my own, i never really thought about how lonely induction would be during all of this

november90 · 27/04/2020 22:11

@itsybitsya you're being so brave and we're all here for you and will probably be up during the night uncomfortable anyway so please keep chatting if it makes you feel better :) xxx

facevalue · 27/04/2020 22:32

@itsybitsya you will have an amazing birth story to tell your grandchildren - all alone during a pandemic - you can do this! we are all going to do this...

can you play some hypnobirth or calming mindfulness youtube video x sleep if you can

JBFletcherstypewriter · 27/04/2020 22:32

Congratulations @AlmostAlwyn what a lovely birth story, hope you’re enjoying the snuggles 🥰

@itsybitsya a couple of years ago when things were “normal” I had my husband with me on the induction ward for a little bit, I was induced at 6pm but he was sent out of the ward at 8 as visiting hours were over so I was there by myself, I know exactly how you feel... I bounced on the ball (if you have one) walked around the bed and got on my knees by the bed kind of rocking back and forth if that makes sense.. now I did have some magazines and an iPad to pass the time but not much sleep... but I’m an insomniac anyway... try to sleep a bit if you can, I started getting pains in my back and buzzed the midwives who were only able to give me paracetamol but it took the edge off...

Trust the doctors and midwives, they know what they’re talking about and I know it’s hard but breathing and trying to relax as much as you can will help..

itsybitsya · 28/04/2020 00:29

Thanks everyone, so just been examined as they're coming thick and fast now and I'm 2cm dilated !

MrsHouse92 · 28/04/2020 01:49

@itsybitsya hope you're okay!

I had my sweep today (1cm dilated, 39+0) and feels like my contractions have started, hopefully we'll get to see our babies soon Smile.

If it doesn't work I have an induction booked for the 3rdSad

Sunshine8888 · 28/04/2020 03:12

Huge congrats @AlmostAlwyn, glad everything went so smoothly x

Hope you’re doing ok @itsybitsya. You are strong and capable - you’ve got this! Remember every contraction brings you one step closer to meeting your baby 🥰

facevalue · 28/04/2020 04:22

@itsybitsya how are you getting on? i havnt slept yet !

my toddler woke up at 1am screaming " mummy and daddy left me alone" so i went and picked her up and into my bed ( her daddy sleeping in the other room cos i'm snoring these days). she's kicked me and rolled off so many times i've not slept - she's not unwell! i think with this lockdown we got lazy and started some bad habbits- like cuddling her to sleep and allowing her to come to our bed when she wakes at night 😩😩😩 i'm pissed off now so i'm having words with hubby tomorrow he's the softy who always drags us into these situations cos he can't say no😒

november90 · 28/04/2020 09:34

@facevalue my toddlers sleep is out of sync too. He won't go to sleep until about 8:30 and gets up at 6ish as well as during the night. I feel for him as he's not getting the same stimulation and exercise during the day due to lock down, but it makes me nervous with a baby coming along 🙈

@itsybitsya I hope everything went well during the night! I was thinking of you when I was up with my little boy :)

Clairesoph · 28/04/2020 11:42

Just ranting but I'm home alone with my toddler today as my partner has had to go into work for a couple of days. Usually when my toddler naps I go up to bed too but right now I'm waiting on a mechanic to jump start my car, a delivery of blocks for our extension and a call back from the midwife. Harry needs his lunch in 20 minutes but when the door goes, the dog barks and it makes the toddler cry 😳 and you can just guarantee that ALL OF THIS is gonna happen at exactly the same time and I can kiss goodbye to my nap 🥴😭😭😭

facevalue · 28/04/2020 12:43

@november90 yeah they need the running around. i just had a phone call with my midwife - says i had group b strep on my swab so they will need to monitor the baby 12 hours after birth. if my water breaks then the risk is higher 😥😰

november90 · 28/04/2020 12:57

On @Clairesoph that sounds so rubbish!!!! My little boy is currently having a major meltdown over absolutely nothing and I'm too counting down the hours to bed time 😰

@facevalue oh bless you. I had group b strep following my first pregnancy. During labour i wasn't treated for it and my little boy had to go onto the special baby ward due to his breathing and they have suggested it may have been linked so I'll be treated for it aswell during labour this time. I haven't looked too much into it as don't want to freak myself out, but my consultant told me that as soon as something happens I need to go on and be out on antibiotics and potentially induced and then me and baby will be monitored for around 24 hours following! She didn't suggest it was a major concern though, just extra precautionary so I hope you're not feeling really worried ❤️

Raindancer411 · 28/04/2020 13:14

I am not even sure if I have been tested for Strep. When are people finding out or is it a standard test? Am 37 weeks today!!!

facevalue · 28/04/2020 13:23

@Raindancer411 sorry i should have mentioned they did the swab when i went to the assessment unit thinking i had leaked. so i don't think they routinely do this for all mums. i didn't even bother to call for results - my midwife chased it as a side issue that's all. please don't stress x i'm 37 +2 now

I'm on my way to bloody labour ward now with a suspected leak 🤣 sound like a broken boiler. It's probably wee and my bladder is just failing me but they want me to pack a bag and come on in anyway. Oh was over the moon cos he's an hour away hahaha! Cars flat so we've gotta load the toddler into his tipper truck (which the kid will be delighted about!) is writing today off, try again tomorrow I think 😩

Clairesoph · 28/04/2020 13:54

Hahahaha laughing or I'll cry, grabbed a quick drink before we go

november90 · 28/04/2020 13:57

@Raindancer411 typically you won't be routine tested for it but you can request so if you are worried, have history or symptoms. You could mentioned it at your next midwife visit but don't worry about it at this stage! I also wasn't tested before or during my first pregnancy!

Raindancer411 · 28/04/2020 18:55

Thanks all :) Just wondered as everyone keeps on about strep B but I wasn't sure how it was picked up etc.
