@Babymamma192 we have the vista! I got it second hand for £300 2 years ago when I had my son and it just cost me £40 to upgrade it to a double! We really rate it but don't have anything to compare it with lol! It's mega sturdy and the basket is huge so gets our vote x

Babymamma192 · 23/04/2020 17:03

@Clairesoph thats good to hear with two babies stuff ill be needing a big basket!
Can it fold down with the seat still attached?
I like the look of that one because the back seat is higher up so the baby can still see out...i don't like the ones where the back seat is at the bottom and all they can see is the other chair 😂 x

Clairesoph · 23/04/2020 17:11

@Babymamma192 apparently it can but I need to YouTube it cos I can't figure it out 😂😂😂 were using it with the seat and bassinet at the minute and I'm hoping by the time baby outgrows the carry cot the toddler will be able enough to cope with a buggy board but if not we will buy a second seat. There's a good second hand Facebook site uppababy vista uk or something similar

Caspianberg · 23/04/2020 17:24

@AlmostAlwyn-we have gone with the Ergo Embrace. Its a newborn buckle type but soft like a wrap. I think it will work well here in the summer heat

november90 · 23/04/2020 17:32

@AlmostAlwyn I've been getting g quite a few opinions on wraps, and the caboo lite seems to be really highly rated so I've literally just ordered it!
I was also looking at the Argo jersey wrap, but I liked the structure of the caboo better :)

AlmostAlwyn · 23/04/2020 18:10

@Caspianberg we've got a Beco 8 for later on, but I prefer a soft wrap for the first few months Smile

@november90 thanks! I'll have a look at the caboo lite Smile

123Pandy · 23/04/2020 21:47

Also looking into wraps - can imagine it's so much easier to carry little one around ☺️

Has anyone else noticed face/neck puffiness? It's been creeping up on me and assume it's water retention ..the classic pregnant face 🙈

november90 · 23/04/2020 22:57

@123Pandy I really regretted not getting a jersey one last time as I only got a thicker outdoor type one which wasn't that comfy so I'm excited for my Caboo wrap!
But gutted how expensive they are though... you can get them second hand obviously but I'm a bit nervous in case I want to return it and also with all this virus (sorry if that's a stupid thing to say!).

facevalue · 23/04/2020 23:07

@november90 i'm feeling so rough. bump pain and period pains and nauseous - just generally knackered and fed up. i think you are lucky to be living with your parents! even if they r old at least they can look after the house - clean and cook and babysit ... with my poor husband he's working from home and having to help with all house chores and our kid and me... i feel sorry for him x

Moongirl10 · 24/04/2020 02:17

So I just found out that hospitals here (in Canada) are not allowing gas and air during labour. I’m kinda freaking out because that’s what they said would help me until I get my epidural. Has gas and air been stopped in the UK too?

JBFletcherstypewriter · 24/04/2020 03:57

@Clairesoph we have a vista too! Love it! But because I’m having twins it cost us a little more to upgrade to be able to take the two babies in the carrycots and we had to buy a new rumble seat for when they get a bit older... so £275 in all which isn’t too bad considering we’d have had to spend more than that anyway if we were to buy a brand new double. The only issue I have now is that I don’t think I’ll be able to go anywhere with the twins and my 2 year old on my own as can’t use the buggy board while 2 carrycots are attached... oh well, we’ll just have to figure something out, no matter what happens anyway with the whole lockdown thing I won’t be going far from the house since neither mine nor my husbands car can take all 3 kids at the same time so if we want to go somewhere all together we’ll have to take 2 cars and whenever he goes back to work I’ll have to stay at home anyway so lockdown with continue for a loooooooonnnngggg time for me 🙈

I don’t post very often but have been keeping up with everyone, congratulations to all the Mamas who have had their little ones and welldone to you all for getting through this whole pregnancy malarkey, which is pretty tough anyway, during this really strange and somewhat frightening time xx

november90 · 24/04/2020 04:02

@Moongirl10 what!!! Is there a reason for this?!!
I haven't heard that but my midwife did warn me that epidurals are few and far between!

@facevalue aww bless you! A lot of people start to feel like they did at the beginning towards the end. It might be that things are starting to happen as the main thing I remember from my first early labour was period pains!
I'm very lucky to be able to see my mum and dad right now! It's a tricky one though as I don't like to use/treat them like they are "Dad" If that makes sense so I'm probably not utilising this situation to the best I can 🙈 I'm just so glad for the company over anything else.

november90 · 24/04/2020 04:04

@Purple29 @Sunshine8888

How are those gorgeous baby's doing? And how are you both?

AlmostAlwyn · 24/04/2020 07:00

@Moongirl10 is this your first? Or have you tried entonox before? It's not effective for everyone, and for some it only "works" because it makes you take long deep breaths, which are more effective at getting oxygen to your uterus muscles than short, panicky breaths, reducing muscle fatigue and therefore pain.

Have you been doing any hypnobirthing? I think practicing some breathing techniques to use in labour will be just as effective (even though that sounds silly! Smile). The calmer you are, the easier it will be to cope. Look up the Positive Birth Company's YouTube channel and their "up breathing" technique Smile

Sunshine8888 · 24/04/2020 08:13

I am in the U.K. and I was given gas and air when I gave birth on 2 April. Didn’t have time to take any other pain relief 😭

Clairesoph · 24/04/2020 08:33

@JBFletcherstypewriter ah that's exciting! Yes I imagine it cost a bit more, I'm holding off on the rumble seat with the hope that my boy will take to a buggy board instead but we will see! I think for days out (lol next joke!) it would be nice to still have the option to strap them both in!!

I haven't heard they're stopping gas and air 🤷🏻‍♀️ just gotta go with the flow I guess. I found labour quite .... Manageable I guess. I kept telling myself that it was gonna get worse than this, this is nothing yet and when I went to hospital I'd got to 8cm just being in the bath and gritting my teeth at home. Hoping for a similar tactic this time 🤣 I had pethidine and gas and air when I got there but at that point I physically couldn't sit on my butt, wth every contraction I had to spring out of bed so the drugs helped me to chill 🤣

Aaah, I'm so nervous excited, just wanna get cracking now!!!

GinUnicorn · 24/04/2020 09:16

I asked my midwife about pain relief and she said all is unaffected. I’ve switched hospitals now so I can hopefully still have a water birth so feeling much happier.

woollycat · 24/04/2020 09:47

Gas and air is allowed in my hospital in London.

facevalue · 24/04/2020 10:32

i felt rough all night. i'm still in bed😞

Purple29 · 24/04/2020 10:47

@november90 we are doing really well... baby boy made it all the way to 2kg (4lbs 5) and he was able to leave to hospital and come home 2 days ago!! So I have just been in a happy little bubble. Hes doing so well!! I dont even mind the night feeds!!

Moongirl10 · 24/04/2020 12:31

That’s good to hear they aren’t stopping it in the UK! They have stopped it here as theyre worried about it aerosolizing the virus.

@AlmostAlwyn No I’ve never had it before, this is my first. But my midwife described it many months ago as a good way to cope until I get my epidural and I wasn’t sure of any alternatives. I will definitely take a look at that link, thank you!

november90 · 24/04/2020 16:47

@Purple29 oh bless him being so teeny! He's made such amazing progress though I bet you're so proud! Are you managing to breast feed? I bet you're just over the moon to have him home where he should be ❤️

Lu1u · 24/04/2020 20:24

@facevalue how are you doing now? Sorry you had a rough night

Had midwife appointment today at 38+4, baby has moved down a bit (my notes say 4/5) so I am pleased with that! My next appointment won't be until 41+1 if labour doesn't start before, I really wanted to have a sweep at 40 weeks in the hope it gets things going but oh well!

Purple29 · 24/04/2020 20:41

@november90 yeah I'm managing to bf him. He gets tired sometimes and wont feed long enough so have to top him up with expressed. It's less work for him and keeps making sure hes putting on weight.

Hes a wee trooper tho, been through so much. Just over 6 weeks in hospital, cant believe i should still have over 3 weeks to go!!
