@Lu1u i'm better thank you. i think it was a stomach upset - i didn't eat or drink until today 1pm. i ate some fruit and waited a couple of hours then ate a roast chicken potatoes and broccoli - i feel ok now! i did eat a curry ( big plate) yesterday for lunch so it might have been heavy! as i felt bloated and uncomfortable since that- i'm becoming so sensitive to milk bread and oily things - maybe the bowels get twisted and pushed. i'm definitely better if i don't eat at all😒

Donnacha11 · 24/04/2020 22:47

Hi, sorry I'm very late to this thread my friend just told me about it. Wish I'd known about it before it's brilliant I've been reading the threads all evening!! Im just wondering if anyone has ever gone for a c section by themselves? If so any tips or advice?

This is my second baby (my little boy will be 9 in August, who was born via emergency c section) but we currently live in the Middle East and I came home to Dublin to have our baby my husband and my son was meant to follow me over about 4 weeks ago but the airports completely closed the day after I left (5 weeks ago). I'm lucky I've so much support here as I'm at home with my parents and my two brothers but my dad is in the vulnerable category so we don't want to chance my mum coming into the hospital with everything going on just Incase.

Thanks girls for any advice and best of luck with all your pregnancies!

facevalue · 25/04/2020 03:06

@Donnacha11 omg that's awful. to be separated from your son and husband for so long. glad you are with family. i think you can have a friend or even your mum during the C section - you are going home after anyway so your mum will be exposed to that risk regardless. she can wear a mask and gloves and wash her hands etc x i was thinking about doing it alone but my hubby wants to be there regardless x tough one but just keep positive and hope for the best

Caspianberg · 25/04/2020 05:41

Morning all. Now 39 weeks and baby does feel lower down, kind of a low cramp feeling when moving around. But have been trying to walk around every day to try and not slow anything down, I think he's fully cooked as has been 99% all the way through. A walking loop behind my house in a circuit is 3.5km, so have been dragging Dh with me on that. Theres a few hilly bits also.

Has anyone else suddenly become starving? Have woken up with rumbling stomach twice now in the last week, just had cereal at 6am here as couldn't sleep with the rumbling. Will probably have a second breakfast later.

AlmostAlwyn · 25/04/2020 06:40

38+3 here and baby is still quite high up. I usually sit in an armchair in the evening, but I think it just pushes baby further up and I get bad rib pain so I've had to change to lying on my side on the sofa! Shame we don't have the world's comfiest sofa... Smile

@Donnacha11 that sounds like a tough situation! But at least you've got your family around you. You can absolutely do it by yourself if that's what you want - have you been doing any hypnobirthing? It's a great tool to help keep you calm, even if you're having a c-section! And you won't be alone, there'll always be a midwife there to look after you. But if you think you might struggle, is there a friend who could go with you, or could you look into a doula?

@Caspianberg just go with it and eat all the things Grin

Lu1u · 25/04/2020 06:42

@facevalue you poor thing, hopefully a one off like you say and it has all settled now. Yes agreed, everything must be very squashed internally by now!

@Donnacha11 hello! Hope you are doing ok, what a difficult situation to be in :( do you have a date for your c section yet?

I don't have any experience I'm afraid, but as you will be in hospital anyway and coming back into your family home once recovered there is always a risk that it could be passed on (but I assume your family members have been leaving the house since lockdown started etc and not completely sheilding so there is a small risk every time anyway?)

Could you ask your midwife how your hospital is managing covid positive patients around the maternity wards and how they are minimising risk of infection to others?

Have you asked your mum how she feels about going/not going with you? Is she in the vulnerable category or extremely vulnerable?

Lu1u · 25/04/2020 06:45

@caspianberg haha yes I have my first dinner with my toddler around 5pm... Then I have been having a sandwhich before bed at 10pm otherwise I wake up so hungry in the night and by morning I am one hangry pregnant lady and all I can think about is breakfast! And my tummy is rumbling now too to top it off 😳

Caspianberg · 25/04/2020 06:53

@AlmostAlwyn - same here with uncomfortable sofa, its a 1980s classic narrow type, with wooden sides the pillows all fall through!

GinUnicorn · 25/04/2020 07:55

@ @Lu1u so glad it’s not just me! These last weeks I’ve been constantly starving. Baby is now engaged so am hoping it’s part of pregnancy not just me being greedy!

Hope you are all feeling well ladies. @facevalue feel better soon.

@Donnacha11 that sounds so tough. Wishing you well Flowers

@AlmostAlwyn I’m permanently achy right now! Just can’t get comfy anywhere.

How are you all feeling about birth? I’m still a bit disappointed I can’t have a home birth but since changing hospital I am now able to have a water birth so feeling much happier.

Raindancer411 · 25/04/2020 08:02

I was a little worried as didn't have as much movement as usual yesterday, but so far this morning she has been moving more. Will keep an eye on it for rest of morning. When I looked in the mirror the bump looks to have dropped but last Saturday at scan and Tuesday at midwives, they said she was engaged and sitting low. I ached so much after the walk to the midwife and back the following day Confused

GinUnicorn · 25/04/2020 08:04

When are you due @Raindancer411?

Raindancer411 · 25/04/2020 08:10

May 19th, am 36+4 today.

Raindancer411 · 25/04/2020 08:19

@GinUnicorn Feels like a million days away 😂

Clairesoph · 25/04/2020 10:36

Feel really tired today, I keep nodding off on the sofa and it's only half ten 🥴 I wouldn't mind but I'm up in bed by 9 every night and I only got up once for a wee in the night which is unheard of! I also feel a bit vommy and off, dunno can't put my finger on it. I went for a small walk with my 20 month old yesterday, literally around the cul de sac cos he's as slow as me and all round my noony this morning is aching like crazy 😔 so annoying as we've been isolating for five weeks now and have left the house probably 3 times. My SPD is just unbearable. Oh what a whinge I am today 😩

On the plus side I treated myself to new self tan, body scrub, face creams, make up and a gel nail lamp so as things are arriving I am giving myself a pamper 🤣 just trying to build myself up to tackle my toes 🤯

Happy Saturday ladies x

november90 · 25/04/2020 11:36

@Clairesoph I feel exactly the same. I was SO uncomfortable last night. My tummy is just ginormous and I'm getting really bad anxiety about a huge baby! My back absolutely kills me by the end of the day there's nothing I can do to be comfortable. I know it's ridiculous but I feel like I'm too big to cross my legs and my feet are SO restless!!!!! No support with my 3 year old either as ex doesn't live in this household so it's play time from 6am to 8:30pmz My dad is sat across from me drinking a cup of coffee and I've never heard some drink it SO loudly it's really REALLY irritating me 😩😩😩
Sorry to be a big winge, I absolutely LOVE pregnancy and I know how lucky I am, but these last few weeks are SO tough! It's just so hard to be comfortable esp when we're in lockdown. I think we've all done so well keeping it together. Over a month of lockdown, with more to come, whilst heavily pregnant with a lot of us with toddlers, partners working, single parents etc etc...... I hope that everyone feels really proud of themselves despite the uncomfortableness and feeling rubbish!

sao81 · 25/04/2020 13:32

Had our growth scan today, 6lb 3oz with 18 more days of cooking to go 😬 think we will have a chunky little boy!
Feel for everyone struggling with being uncomfortable, unable to sleep etc. I cant remember the last time I had a decent nights sleep, or the last time I didnt wake my partner up trying to hoist myself out of bed for a wee. Just think though we are all in the final stretch! May starts Friday, its finally our month!!

GinUnicorn · 25/04/2020 13:41

@Raindancer411 2 days ahead of me I know the feeling!

@sao81 I’m not how accurate they are

woollycat · 25/04/2020 13:48

@sao81 is that considered big? My baby was measuring 3kg (which is 6lb 9oz) at 36w - and they didn't tell me that she was big, and I didn't really think much of it.

sao81 · 25/04/2020 13:57

@GinUnicorn it was pretty accurate with my last little girl, but I know they can be really off too! I think he will be around 7.5lb when he is here so a good weight for 2 weeks early!
@woollycat they are happy with his growth, hes following the 50th line for his length, abdominal is closer to the top line so expecting him to have a little belly on him if its accurate 😂 I'm 35+4 today, I'm getting induced at 38 weeks so he will be a little early.

OP posts:
Emmacb82 · 25/04/2020 15:29

I was told mine was 6.5lbs at 35+3 and they referred to him as a big baby. But I think you have to take the estimated weights as a pinch of salt, no one really knows until the baby arrives! Although having said that, my last baby was 8lb11 so I’m probably looking at a 9 pounder 😬

november90 · 25/04/2020 16:19

See my app said that 6.5lbs was average for 36 weeks!

itsybitsya · 25/04/2020 16:53

Had my growth scan yesterday at 38+5 - thankfully baby girl has grown a little so they're happy to leave my induction booked for Monday ! She's about 7lb9 so I've got everything crossed she's not going to have a growth spurt over the next two days !

Starting to feel anxious about the induction process

sao81 · 25/04/2020 17:32

@emmacb82 8lb11 😱 was that bigger than they expected or smaller? My little girl was 7lb1oz born at 39 weeks but feel alot heavier this time round already
@november90 the app I use says 5lb3oz for 35 weeks its mad how much the info can differ! I'm just happy that he's predicted a good weight with him being early, I have 1 more scan the day before I am induced so will know how accurate the guess is then!
@itsybitsya have they said if they will be using a pessary? I had a gel last time and I had an ok experience, but not sure how it will be this time round!

OP posts:
Emmacb82 · 25/04/2020 17:42

@sao81 he was estimated to be 7lbs at 36 weeks so I guess half a pound a week when he was born at 39+4 does sound about right. This one feels bigger so it does scare me a bit. Had a traumatic birth with him and ended up in theatre with forceps so not relishing the idea of another big one!

november90 · 25/04/2020 18:02

@Emmacb82 I was the same. My first was 9lbs4oz on his due date and his birth ended up with forceps after a 3 day labour with about 10 midwives and doctors in the room as he got stuck so I'm really worried about another chunky monkey 😩
