Hi everyone, hope you're all doing okay. I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and due on July 29th 😊 got a gender scan on Thursday and am so so excited to find out! Didn't know these groups existed so was so nice reading through all the messages on here!

LillyLeaf · 11/02/2020 19:53

@Byets welcome, I had a sex scan at the weekend and we're having a BOY. For some reason I thought it was a boy, not sure why.

@LittleMrsMama will you be having a NIPT test? I was high risk for downs, my nt was fine but my age and HCG gave me a high risk, it was so scary but we got a good result from the NIPT.

I'm so impressed by those that are buying stuff. I haven't really looked into much apart from a crib to go next to our bed, pretty sure we'll get the SnuzPod3 and I like the look of the K'Tan wrap/sling, but that's it so far.

Anyone having headaches, I've had them for about 2-3 weeks now, I'm pretty sure I'm drinking enough.

squirrelnutkins1 · 11/02/2020 19:56

@LillyLeaf ah congrats on your boy ❤️☺️ yeah headaches most evenings 🙄
Ours is a girl 😊😊😊

LillyLeaf · 11/02/2020 19:59

@squirrelnutkins1 ah a girl, that's fantastic, congratulations.

I'm getting the headaches throughout the day too, hopefully they won't last much longer.

amysara24 · 11/02/2020 20:04

@squirrelnutkins1 @LillyLeaf congratulations on your baby girl & boy! How exciting! I’ve been getting headaches, though I suffer migraines anyway so I’m not sure if they’re worse than normal or not 🤷🏽‍♀️
We’ve honestly got so much stuff already, if baby was due tomorrow we would probably have enough stuff to get started 🤦🏽‍♀️ I just can’t help myself when I see stuff I like!
Had my midwife appt today, wee bit pointless to be honest! She checked my BP and sent off a repeat urine sample as the last one showed signs of infection. There was a student midwife in who had a prod around of my tummy and that was it - she said they wouldn’t do Doppler as sometimes it’s hard to find the heartbeat which worries mums to be. Thankfully we heard and saw baby on Saturday so I wasn’t too bothered!

@amysara24 I had a MW appointment yesterday, I agree, totally pointless. We're telling our parents this weekend and my mum is recently retired MW so I probably be asking her all sorts of questions.

squirrelnutkins1 · 11/02/2020 20:19

@amysara24 @LillyLeaf we were both so sure it was a boy as well! Super pleased tho. The sonogropher said in 8 years she's never been wrong so feel quite confident, altho will get it confirmed at 20 week scan at the start of March.
Ooh your mum the font of midwife knowledge, how fab!
I've got my 16 week appointment next week, I'll be 17+2. Midwife is a bit scatty so I had to book my own appointment.
We've only bought a couple of books and toys that's it!

LillyLeaf · 11/02/2020 20:34

I think I'll delay buying for a while because once I start I won't be able to stop.

HairsprayBabe · 11/02/2020 21:03

I am trying to buy a few bits every month to spread the cost out - I suppose I could always put a bit of money aside every month instead but I am buying mainly second hand so I am trying to get good deals where I can!

HairsprayBabe · 12/02/2020 12:39

MW appt went well - they gave me the wrong pot for weeing in so I turned up with my wee tube and they made me do another - I didn't need to go so I had to drink a few pints of water at the surgery and go for a walk in the cold.

Then they said my wee needed further testing as had white blood cells - I have had no UTI symptoms though so could just be contaminated sample.

Heard the heartbeat too 💓 sounded like a train, so I'm even more convinced it's a boy now! Still not finding out though!!

Missdrifter · 12/02/2020 16:05

Hi ladies, sorry be so busy but just catching up on the thread. Glad to see you are all doing well and we must all be coming up to our next scan. My MW appointment was pretty quick but got to hear heartbeat so that was lovely x

WooMaWang · 12/02/2020 16:12

I've just realised that I was supposed to have a 16 week MW appointment. I completely forgot. I'm now 17+4 so I guess I should make an 18 week one. Oops.

Can you tell it's my 3rd baby?

Mialain · 12/02/2020 17:48

Quick question to all the experience mums? My girlfriends are planning a holiday in November to bali for 7 days, would it be unrealistic for me to go? As baby will be 3 months by then, friends are saying that i wont do it emotionally n i should wait till baby comes to see how i would feel, obviously i will have to start saving up now, so need to make decision sooner, how did u all feel after baby, i will be leaving baby with my mum, but i dont know how i will be emotionally??

Ethellsmum · 12/02/2020 20:00

@Mialain everyone is different. I personally couldn’t do it, especially for 7 days, but I have plenty of friends and family who have gone away when little one is young.

HairsprayBabe · 13/02/2020 21:12

You could save for it anyway @Mialain and if you don't want to go then you will have a little pot of cash as a nice consolation prize

WooMaWang · 14/02/2020 09:56

I agree that you just can't know if you'll feel OK about leaving your baby for a week at this point. Some people are fine with that sort of thing, others are not.

You also can't know what the baby will be like, and therefore how easy it would be for your mum to look after it for a week.

There's no harm at all in saving for it anyway. But I agree that you'll need to wait and see.

WolfInSlutsClothing · 14/02/2020 12:46

Mialain agree completely with what everyone else said, personally with my ds, he had colic and cried non stop for the first 3 months, and then winged all the time until he was nearly 1. There would have been no way in hell I could have left him w it anyone, not only would they not have taken him, I'd have been terrified of them getting frustrated with him and harming him.

Having said that, I still won't leave him with anyone apart from DP, so I could be a bad example. But as woomalang said, you just can't know what the baby will be like.

WeeScottishWife · 16/02/2020 15:42

Hi folks,

I'm due 30th July waves

We haven't started shopping yet since we'll be moving house in the next couple of months, and we don't want to be giving ourselves more things to move from one place to another. I can't wait to get started finding things nearer to the due date though :)

HairsprayBabe · 17/02/2020 09:26

We are moving house soon too 😵
I am not looking forwards to the moving process at all.

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/02/2020 12:33

Same for us! Timing 🙈

WooMaWang · 17/02/2020 14:28

We moved just before Christmas. If you can afford to get the movers to pack: do it. It's totally worth it.

I'm about to venture out to get some paint colour charts so we can choose colours for our room (currently white and feeling very cold and impersonal) and what will (eventually) be the baby's room (currently a fairly unattractive yellow).

Kiki275 · 17/02/2020 17:46

I'm about to move into a static caravan for 6 months so that our house can be completely remodelled. Totally agree with others, if you can afford packing services, do it. Also don't distribute all boxes to their applicable rooms. Choose a spare room and put all boxes in there. Bring out one at a time to unpack. Then you're not overwhelmed with the sheer amount that needs doing and can close the door on the rest x

WeeScottishWife · 17/02/2020 18:23

Yeah, I think we're definitely going to stick everything in the spare room to begin with!

Are you all moving far enough that you'll change hospital trust, or are you sticking with the same team/location as you're currently going to for appointments? At the moment I really prefer certain aspects of the birth centre I'd go to if we stayed here vs the one closer to the new house, so might try to stick with this one.

HairsprayBabe · 17/02/2020 19:21

I'm only moving about 10 mins down the road, will be closer to a different hospital but I prefer our current one regardless - same trust though so I can decide nearer to the time.

I moved house 2 years ago with a weeks notice and packed the majority of stuff in about 2 evenings.

I am planning on a much slower process this time as I did not enjoy doing it that way at all 😵
I think I will declutter a bit over Easter to make the moving process easier we just have sooo much stuff

LillyLeaf · 17/02/2020 20:42

Oh god I do feel for you ladies that are moving. I had a bit of a 'we have so much to do' wobble today and that was only about decorating, DIY, sorting stuff (finding somewhere to put all our crap) and researching baby, birth, breastfeeding, ahh so much to think about. I'm aware time will start going faster soon.
