I AM CRAP! i havent posted on here forever and i havent really managed to catch up with what is going on.
i have been super busy cos we are (still) in the middle of an extension. so i have been spending lots of money on housey things and doing a bit of a J2O and decorating/waxing doors/sticking on skirting boards etc. its all getting a bit too stressful and i feel like i would quite like to stop working (proper work and housey work) and just concentrate on the baby!

hope everyone isfeeling ok and a lot more organised than me!

j20baby · 16/08/2007 23:37

Hi all, just popping in to say hi, been out all night at my friends.

tried to have a nap earlier but the phone was ringing so did some beading instead.

dal-yes when i've done this it'll be pretty much done (ahem, part fron the downstairs loo) just finishing touches, like pictures and a mat..etc

i'll definately post the pictures of the finished product tommorrow so you can all see what i've actually been doing!

unicorn, in answer to your post;-

anyone else sleeping really badly? yes

I'm very tired but just can't get comfoy, then when I do fall asleep I wake up - need to pee? ho hum, me too!

Am also feeling very itchy (mostly legs) which worried me a bit as there is a rare condition associated with itchiness isn't there? i get really itchy legs too, but i think you need to worry when its all over your body and really bad, get it checked out though

Think this (number 3) pregnancy is taking its toll more coz I'm older (and fatter!) i was only 18 when pg last time, and this is definately worse, was worknig full time and McDonalds last time, moving house, decorating(although not as much) and still partying, and i'm sure i wasn't this tired or achey!

LES-you pretty much described my night sleep or not as the case may be!

buffy-thats a long way to move, are your family still round here then? its nice that you and dh managed to get back together and stick st it, that's true love

hi greedy {waves}

hope i didn't miss anyone!

hi muppet, FT and inzi, sorry i missed you!

inzi-will reply to your email tommorrow, am off to bed now, night all

j20baby · 16/08/2007 23:46

FT-meant to say about your results, i'm sure you'll be able to have a treat now and then[hopeful emotioncom] my brother is diabetic and could sometimes have a choc bar, not quite sure how it works myself, but even if you can't, not too long to go and then it'll disappear after birth wont it?

right, night night again

Good morning all

Well, the house is tidy and the cleaner starts today so it should be clean when MIL/FIL arrive. Told dh he has to be home early today as I will get comments as to where he is, isn't it late, ooh he must be so tired working all these hours....not to mention the FIL needs to eat soon (Is he ill? NO!) Then she'll 'pop' to Asda as I don't have the that she wants (Staying 2 days, can't do without eg, her brand of coffee??) Last time they bought a mirror for the shower room on their bedroom, they didn't ask me if I like it and then proceeded to fix it to the wall, without asking me. ARRRRGGGHHHHHHH.
Dh tells me to stop imaginging arguments but he's not here when they arrive mainly and he doesn't understand what she's like.

Ollie will think Christmas will have come early as he will be running around like a loon with Grandma (who can now magically smile...) whilst I sit there fumming as his behaviour seriously goes raphidly downhill. FIL will spend the whole weekend in front of our telly sat on the sofa being brought cups of tea (what a waste of a Phd..)whilst commenting on 'That telly looks expensive, did you need one like that? Oh, good lord, you're having a new kitchen?'

You get the idea how I'm feeling today

MrsFish · 17/08/2007 08:50

Oh dear, in'laws from hell, I feel your pain hopefully the weekend will go quickly for you.

buffythenappyslayer21 · 17/08/2007 09:34

morning all!!

floria...hi buddy!!!i never got ejt's email so didnt know who was my buddy!you'll have to email me your details as like i say i never did get her email!

j20 all my family are still in hull, and im still in touch with most of my old school friends there aswell.got family living greatfield, kingswood, hessle and gipsyville.i was brought up just off wold road, and most of my friends are still in that area.

cant remember who asked about sleeping probs, but im the same,go to bed early because im knackered, fall asleep and then end up waking up needing a pee or heartburn or being kicked to death!and i seriously cannot get comfy and my pelvis seems to start crunching when i try rolling over!im sooooooo looking forward to popping this baby out so that i can lay on my front again (but then my boobs will probably be killing so i'll end up still sleeping on my side!!)

rang mw yesterdya for the results of the gtt i had a couple of weeks ago and all the bloods i had taken.mw told me when i saw her after teh tests that i had to ring gp for results.rang gp who said that the mw had results and none were showing on the computer as tehy ahd been done in hospital requested by the mw!finally got hold of mw yesterday after ringing her god knows how many times over the last few days and gtt was spot on ,ante natal bloods all ok but my thyroid is still too low.but gp said its too early to up my thyroxine as it takes 6-8 weeks to make a difference.(he changed my dose 6 weeks ago)but because of when i was pg last time my thyroid went up and down and i lost 3 stone i thought he wouldve done something now.i feel in myself that its not right,im not usually this tired!

anyway,moan over!

hoep everyones ok.

look forward to hearing form you floria!!!

Hi everyone

Sorry to hear your news on the glucose test Floria - if you're anything like me, you'll be finding it hard to get perspective on things at the moment - you know we're all thinking of you if that's any help!

Buffy - what a story! Really glad it's worked out for you both.

J20 - congratulations on nearly finishing what sounds like it's been single-handedly doing up your new place while pg and a mum to boot - Respect! But that's enough now. We want to see posts from you from now on saying things like - 'did nothing today except sit with feet up and eat chocolate'

Muppet - Can't believe the mirror story!! What a nightmare they sound. Good luck with them - and with bloody British Gas.

Inzi, LES, Unicorn - yeah, sleep not brilliant - I'm just dying to be able to lie on my front or back, either would do. Am having to get up before I've had enough sleep because my hips are so painful, not to mention all the peeing, drinking, heartburn. Great, isn't it?!!

MrsFish - you've reminded me I was thinking of getting a pre-baby haircut at some point. Last time round I had really long hair, which remained pretty much unbrushed for several months after the birth as I recall - there just wasn't time for that sort of luxury indulgence - so maybe I'll get it chopped in readiness this time.

Hi Greedy!

Waved my DD off this morning on yet another holiday - this time with the grandparents. She's gone for 2 weeks. I'm missing her already . She's been taking more of an interest in the baby lately - poking my bump to make it move - then getting grossed out when it does! but at least she's paying some attention.

Have you all read the 'what you wish you knew in the first 6 months post'? I read it just now. It's worth a look. Am thinking of getting DH to have a look at it, especially as he's shown worrying signs of being a believer in 'tough' parenting when my style with LOs is far more responsive. I particularly liked the 'Ignore DH' advice :0!

muppetgirl · 17/08/2007 13:51

Hi inzi,

PIL are stuck on the infamous M6 (coming from gatley near manchester) so will be delayed a little -my DH tells me as they phoned him at work rather than me at home

The cleaner is fab!!! She even cleans behind things -not a regular occurance here Have done loads of washing and changed all beds so house is gleaming atm.

Friend came round to measure up for a blind in lo's room so are getting really excited.
Will have to think about painting the room soon, what colours are everyone doing?

Speak later

Apricott · 17/08/2007 13:51

Great news on the heart trace Inzi .

A x

Apricott · 17/08/2007 13:56

Well, on the plus side, you'll get less of them Muppet, on the other hand, they may arrive out of sorts... Good luck whatever.

As to rooms - I'm feeling hopelessly left behind by you all on here. I'm planning on having LO in our room for the first months and haven't even started to think about preparing a bedroom for him/her. At the moment we use the 'spare room' as DH's office so there's going to have to be some serious re-organisation. But it can wait...

Inzi, that sounds lovely

We are going to decorate early as we did nothing when Ollie arrived as we were in rented. So this time I would like to be all ready and waiting...

We are going to use a crib in our room until Henry keeps us awake -as Ollie did with the 'piggy' snuffles!

Sorry Inzi -glad the heart trace was good

Apricott · 17/08/2007 14:21

We had DD in with us for six months or so. I don't remember anything keeping me awake round then! I vividly remember my then DH and I feeling like she'd left home when we finally moved her into her own room - soppy buggers! Muppet - a pg friend of mine here at work was saying only yesterday she couldn't stand it 'cos of the 'piggy' snuffles !

muppetgirl · 17/08/2007 14:21

How long they are in your room is such a personal thing to each couple/mummy. Oliver was soooo noisy that I wasn't sleeping so we eventually wheeled his pram (he was in his carrycot) nearer the door, then just outside the door then down the corridor to his room and then he ended up in his room!

Where we lived was Lambourn and horse training county where everyone got up really early and one of my an group said her daughter was in with her and her husband fo a matter of days as he woke her up when he got up for work!

muppetgirl · 17/08/2007 14:23

Appricot -It's weird how some are noisy and some aren't! PLus he was always moving and this was enough of a signal for me to wake and worry over him.

MrsFish · 17/08/2007 14:45

I had ds in the room with us for 3 weeks, then the lack of sleep got to me so he went in his own room, but it was right next door. Then slept really well

I haven't had to touch the nursery as it is as ds left it, it was only done 2 yrs ago so we are keeping it as is. It is done in pale yellow with the baby jungle stuff from mothercare

alicet · 17/08/2007 15:20

Hello!

Just skim read as not a hope of catching up properly as not been on here since Monday!

We had a lovely couple of days in Cheltenham - just chilled and ate lots of lovely food. In common with a lot of you though I've started to sleep really badly even in the supremely comfortable beds in the Hotel du Vin where we stayed! Just seem to wake whenever I ened to turn over as my bump is too big for me to turn in my sleep. And then struggle to get back to sleep as my head is buzzing - not about any particular thing just lots of stupid pointless things that I shouldn't be thinking about! Oh well not a lot I can do about it really but its very frustrating!

Big hugs to those of you who have been having a crap time of it this week - LES, inzi, J20 and floria from what I can remember - hope I haven't left anyone out!

And great to hear that Apricott and Chochobnob have had good breaks too!

Not seen the news about Peter Lisa's bil - can I presume he got the transplant from some of your comments? If so thats fantastic news so fingers crossed to him making a full and speedy recovery....

Well I'll try and get back on here later but may not be until Sunday night... Will be more regular again next week though!

alicet · 17/08/2007 15:23

As to where your newborn sleeps debate - with ds1 we were adamant that we wanted to put him in his room from day 1 - we wanted to keep our room for us. But after the first night back from hospital where neither dh or I got any sleep until 7am we brought him into our bed and he slept there with us for 6 weeks! We borrowed a moses basket from a friend and he slept in there some of the time and in bed with us some of the time. I was surprised at how much I loved having him sleeping in next to me - it was just lovely and made night feeds so much easier too. When he managed a whole night in the moses basket (between feeds) we moved him into his own room and then we all slept better.

So agree its a personal thing. Also I would say play it by ear and find what works for you rather than relying too much on your preconceptions!!! This time we'll play it by ear and keep him with us while its working for everyone and move when it seems right....

nellieloula · 17/08/2007 15:34

Hi everyone - I'm skimming too; J20 I really hope you're sitting down, tea in hand and crappy tv on as I write this. And, muppet how I feel for you with the inlaws. Bad guests are the worst. Deep breath! Things with me are ok, absoutley shattered at the moment but I suppose that's normal at this stage - my glucose load came back ok I think; FT thinking about you on that one. Sleep wise, I can sleep ok (although I am panicking about positions cause I usually wake up on my front??) but am having horrible dreams - not only about this LO but more about my DS1 - concentrating so much on the baby that I forget him in places and can't get back to him etc. I know it's all very normal and par for the course as your brain prepares itself etc but it's still pretty horrible. Anyway - hope everyone is having an ok afternoon and I'll try and pop in later.

greedygreedyguzzler · 17/08/2007 16:04

muppet - i can completely relate to the inlaws from hell thing!!!

my FIL has been staying with us for 2 weeks 'helping' with our extension. sounds good, but he has half finished about a million jons rather than actually finishing anything. i HATE half finished things cos they tend to stay like that then....me and my dh are both hopeless at all DIY!!! he then pissed off our builder so much by interfering that the builder threatened to walk off site! that was on tuesday, just before he told us he had to rush back home cos my MIL had summoned him leaving us with a million unfinished things!!

they are now threatening to come down and stay again in a couple of weeks but we have nowhere for them to stay cos 2 of our bedrooms are out of action, so it would mean me and dh sleeping on the sofas and my MIL cant walk very far and needs constant looking after, so it would mean a third 'child' for me to look after as well!

ok rant over.....hope you have fun with yours muppet!!!

FloriaTosca · 17/08/2007 16:48

Great to see so many of you back..Greedy, Nellie, Alice; glad you had a lovely hol

I think this lack of sleep thing seems to be par for the course at the moment...I certainly had a bad one last night, once Ihad awoken needing to pee and change position my mind wouldn't switch off...the British Gas Electricity thing got to me and concern about the gtt bad result and...and..and

As it happens the glucose result isn't as bad as it could have been..the fasting result from the lab came back 5.8 which is within the normal range, just towards the top but the after glucose drink one came back at 10.4 which is defiantely glucose intolerant...over 11 is diabetic...they have given me an appointment for monday to get a monitor to check myself daily.at least it isn't yet more injections every day, but definately no Magnums or my Mums pineapple & malibu meringue roulade

alicet · 17/08/2007 17:16

Floria - boo for the no sweeties and chocs! That really sucks. At least not much longer to go....

Greedy / muppet - big sympathies for you about il's. I think I am very lucky. There are little things that niggle me about mine but in the wider scheme of things its nothing really - certainly nothing that I can't deal with! We never see them for very long in one go anyway as they irritate dh more than me! But they are lovely with ds and supportive of how we want to do things with him which is a MAJOR plus!

Hope to be about later....
