I love following the big May 2020 threads but there's so many people on there!

I'd love to keep up with a smaller group? Anyone keen to share the below credentials and general feelings/observations/hopes/fears; and support one another over the next 7 months?

EDD: 6 May 2020
Age: 33
Baby #: #1
Location: London
Appointments (if any) so far: Booking-in with GP, scan at EPU same day when I was 6w+6d as I had bleeding early on, first midwife appointment happening 11 October.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

TK x

@ChickenNugget86 I’ve had 3 private scans and they were so much better than the nhs ones, much more relaxed and enjoyable. I would really recommend them

ChickenNugget86 · 31/10/2019 09:30

Thanks I've booked a private scan for week 16. Hoping to have a better experience and avoid another internal one if possible.

Sunshine8888 · 31/10/2019 13:32

@Chickennugget86! That’s great, I hope it’s better for you! Will you find out the gender?

ChickenNugget86 · 31/10/2019 13:40

@sunshine8888

Yes I'm hoping too! Although I'd love a surprise we both are desperate to find out.

I spoke to the private scan place nearby and they reasured me and wont rush me thankfully. Going to try and have a normal scan but if it's not working prepared to have the internal one again. Going to drink extra water and they said to have a meal 2 hours before. Hopefully the baby will behave and be in a better location so that they can check the neck etc...

Hope everything is going well with you x

Sunshine8888 · 31/10/2019 13:49

@ChickenNugget86 ahh I couldn’t wait either! Just make sure you drink plenty of water and also don’t stay still before you go in, pace around the waiting room / jump up and down! I know it sounds odd but I had to do that when baby was in wrong position and ten mins later she had moved and they could get the measurements

Pastnowfuture · 31/10/2019 17:53

@ChickenNugget86 I'm glad you were able to get something sorted. I had my NHS scan yesterday and the lady was lovely. Took her time and showed us baby from all different angles. Frustrating to think everyone's experince isn't the same as it's such an important milestone.

How is everyone else doing?

tacosplease · 02/11/2019 08:02

Hi everyone, just checking in! I’m 14+1 today and doing ok - I’m still feeling slightly nauseous but it has gotten better (although I’m cautious about saying that as last time I did it came back with a vengeance!)

After the excitement/nervousness over the 12 week scan it feels like a bit of a lull in the process now - as the next scan isn’t until December. I do have a midwife appointment again in two weeks time though - does anyone know what that involves?

Hope everyone is well!

fluffyunicorns86 · 02/11/2019 08:17

Hello all

Hope everyone is doing ok. Symptoms all gone now just the sore boobs and little bits of heartburn and alot of headaches lately but I do suffer migraines before I was pregnant.

I am 14 weeks on monday going to book a private scan when 16 weeks so 2 weeks time before I have my stitch put in at 16+3 which I am so nervous about. Seeing consultant the week after so dunno when I am going to fit midwife appointment in but I will do it.

Sunshine8888 · 02/11/2019 09:59

@tacosplease I know what you mean about the lull, I feel the same! 14 weeks today and still waiting for 20 week scan date but it’s likely to be 6/7 weeks away! Also have midwife app in 2 weeks, apparently in some areas they listen for heartbeat which could be reassuring. I just want to know that baby is ok, I find it quite nerve wracking not to be able to feel anything or see her!

I wish my symptoms would ease up. I’m wondering if because mine started late (10 weeks) I’ll suffer longer into the second trimester 🙁

Pastnowfuture · 02/11/2019 11:00

@tacosplease @Sunshine8888 Glad I'm not the only one to feel the lull. I had my NHS dating scan on Wednesday and was put at at 14 weeks 2 days. Doesn't quite fit with my own dates but baby is bigger (by 6 days) not smaller so I'm not gonna worry.

Next one isn't until 10th December but I guess because Christmas is being advertised already December doesn't seem too far away but the option of a private scan at 16 weeks is very tempting. @fluffyunicorns86 I hope your scan and stitch both go well.
I've been off work for 2 months now but hoping to go back on the 11th November. GP has recommended a phased return so I will only be doing 2 days a week to start. I feel so lucky that both my GP and my manager have been so supportive.

My colleagues symptoms started late like yours @sunshine888. She suffered terribly from week 11 but woke up one morning in week 16 and they had completely disappeared. I really do hope yours is short lived.

Sunshine8888 · 03/11/2019 11:18

Thank you @Pastnowfuture! Lots of people have said to me it gets better from month 4 so I am eagerly awaiting week 16 onwards!! 🤞🏻

MamaChan · 10/11/2019 11:35

May 10th. Baby number 2

Lifesforlivingandloving · 15/11/2019 17:51

How is everybody keeping ? Xxx

Pastnowfuture · 15/11/2019 20:36

@Lifesforlivingandloving It's starting to feel very real now! I have a small bump and people keep giving me baby things- everytime I go in the spare room the pile of stuff reminds me this is actally happening.

Currently accepting anything being offered but I have no idea what I actually need for a baby. Need an actual list.

My 20 week scan is 11th Dec so not far off. Just wish this nausea and vomiting would disappear. I had a run of days where I was only sick mornings and nights but it was all through the day again today. Sad

How are you? Hope everyone else is doing well x

Lifesforlivingandloving · 16/11/2019 08:59

@Pastnowfuture it's all becoming so real now isn't it ! Had my 16 week midwife appointment on Thursday too and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat which was amazing ! My 20 week scan is also on 11th of December:) unless we change hospitals in which the date will likely change x We have a tour of the other hospital we are considering tomorrow which is exciting !
Also getting bought things and stashing it all away but I keep getting it all out and looking at it! Lol x

Pastnowfuture · 16/11/2019 11:12

@Lifesforlivingandloving Oooh potential scan buddies. Hope your hospital tour goes well. The maternity unit local to us was highly reccomended but despite it being fairly new it was suddenly closed recently due to asbestos being found. We have an option of two others further afield but have chosen the one with a birth centre attached as I'm hoping to use the birthing pool. Have had a video tour but will arrange an actual visit too.

Lifesforlivingandloving · 16/11/2019 17:43

@Pastnowfuture
I'm hoping for water birth too . Where we are visiting tomoz is a birth centre x hope we love it and can get in there . It's a specialist maternity hospital so it's one of the best near us 😊 therefore lots of people want to give birth there x

TurquoiseKiss · 28/02/2020 14:59

Hey all, I guess we're all 30-31 weeks now? How is everybody?

I'm feeling fairly well, only annoyance is pain in my back high on my left side - that gets worse as the day goes on. Paracetamol not doing much so i'm just getting used to it, and enjoying the first few hours of the day before it kicks in! Had a 4D scan done the other day - great fun - and the baby was head down, the sonographer said their spine was where my pain was. I'm not 100% convinced though, if that were the true cause then baby hasn't moved position in about 2 weeks!? Not sure if its my spine curving more (from what i've read about back pain in 3rd trimester).

We have yet to purchase a buggy and car seat but this weekend is dedicated to that. Friends kindly gave us their moses basket and stand, just need to purchase new mattress and bedding for it. Last weekend picked up a few bits for my hospital bag - maternity pads, 2 nighties, XXL black massive knickers. Didn't go too mad on the first shop. For baby I feel we have enough newborn sleepsuits, vests, muslins etc. About 6 cute outfits although some are 3-6 mths. Bought a pack of 42 newborn nappies and a lovely baby blanket - that's it so far! Will buy a formula 'starter pack' to bring in to hospital. Lovely friends are throwing us a baby shower in mid-April and asked for a list of what we need.

Went on a tour of the birth centre and labour ward in our hospital. They're just OK, its an old hospital, hasn't had the greatest reviews for maternity but we'll keep positive and hopefully when it comes to it won't be in there very long anyway!

Have a good Friday all!
