I love following the big May 2020 threads but there's so many people on there!

I'd love to keep up with a smaller group? Anyone keen to share the below credentials and general feelings/observations/hopes/fears; and support one another over the next 7 months?

EDD: 6 May 2020
Age: 33
Baby #: #1
Location: London
Appointments (if any) so far: Booking-in with GP, scan at EPU same day when I was 6w+6d as I had bleeding early on, first midwife appointment happening 11 October.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

Morning ladies! Made it to 11 weeks! This is getting very real and exciting now! @tacosplease you should get your harmony results this week? Sorry to those suffering sickness. I most admit my nausea and tiredness seems worse than ever atm and I had thought it might be easing by now rather than getting worse. I’m still very grateful not to be being physically sick though

Pastnowfuture · 13/10/2019 10:53

Welcome to the new posters!

@Sunshine8888 At 11 weeks we are more than a quarter of the way through the pregnancy which seems crazy to me! Grin

Sunshine8888 · 13/10/2019 10:56

@pastnowfuture yes that does seem crazy! Your sickness sounds awful, I hope you’re ok! I have managed to get to this point without taking any sick days and I have 4.5 working days left until I’m 12 weeks so feeling pretty happy about that. However I’ve been very lucky as I’ve not been physically sick, that must be so awful. I guess your work know you are pregnant? Mine don’t!

Exciting too that you get your iona results this week. Are you finding out the sex? I have the harmony test on weds x

ChickenNugget86 · 13/10/2019 11:30

Hi everyone, it's been lovely reading all your posts.
I am 11 weeks pregnant today according to my app.
I'm 29 and this is my first baby. I live in the North West. I've always wanted to be a Mum but when I thought about it properly with my husband around 5 years ago it totally freaked me out and I kind of developed a phobia of being pregnant. The thought of something growing inside me and giving birth scared me. About 2 years ago I had some therapy to try and help me understand it a bit more and I spoke a lot with my cousin who is a midwife.

This May I decided I finally felt ready, just thought let's go for it, I'm 30 next year and have some fun with no pressure on ourselves. It was a big decision to come off the pill and I seemed to be waiting a life time for my first period to come.
My period came end of July... God I forgot how horrible they are as I've not had one for such a long time. I downloaded an app to keep track of my periods and let's just say had a fun month with my hubby.
To my shock when my period didn't come while on holiday (Had packed an epic amount of tampons and sanitary towels) I took a pregnancy test the day before my birthday while abroad and couldn't take it in that it said pregnant!

When I came back from holiday I felt so sick without throwing up. I work as a support worker in a primary school so when I went back to work I told my class teacher and head as I was feeling awful. As the weeks have gone on I have been sleepy in the afternoon so have little naps. I also seem to be sick not long after brushing my teeth don't think I like the taste of mint at the moment. The sick is a very bright colour so very strange to me. I've lost about 6 pounds so far as I'm not eating as much as I usually do. Even opening the fridge makes me gag.

I had my first midwife appointment and went through all my medical history. My local hospital then asked me to go in to discuss it more. Everyone I've seen has been great. I was invited for an early scan, had to have an internal one. It was amazing to see the baby on the screen and hear the heartbeat, I was getting paranoid that I had dreamt this all up. My due date is the 3rd May at the moment. I was then told that I'd have to come back next week to speak with a doctor, you start thinking the worse.
I went through my medical history again and I'm classed as high risk. They added up this score and it came back high. They upped my Asprin to 150mg and a stronger Folic Acid. Then to my shock I was told that I need to take injections into my tummy every day, I'm not going to lie but I felt physically sick. I understand that it's to help me not get blood clots but I'm gutted. My husband is doing them for me but he's been away so I've had to do them myself and I've struggled.

My 12 week scan was going to be on the 18th but they've changed it now to the end of October to make sure I'm over 12 weeks.

Thanks for listening, I know that's a long post but sometimes writing it all down helps. Other than my 2 work colleagues and husbands manager we haven't told anyone else. Hope you all have a good week x

Pastnowfuture · 13/10/2019 11:52

@Sunshine8888

Yeah I had to tell my manager and HR at 6 weeks because my sick note said HG. My parents and brother had to be told at 5 weeks as it was my brothers wedding- we don't live in the same part of the country so they would have had no idea otherwise. I initially hoped I could hide it but realised the day before it would be impossible. My brother and his partner were so happy they both cried and the wedding planner even helped to ensure other guests didn't find out!

We are finding out the gender, are you?

Pastnowfuture · 13/10/2019 12:08

@ChickenNugget86 It sounds like you have had a really rough start! I hope things get better soon Flowers

Sunshine8888 · 13/10/2019 13:04

@pastfuturenow yes we are also finding out the gender, we’d be thrilled with either but I think it’s a boy 💙

@ChickenNugget86 we are due date buddies. Poor you, it sounds like you’re having a really rough time. Feel free to moan anytime, that’s what these forums are here for! 💞

Pastnowfuture · 13/10/2019 13:25

@Sunshine8888 I'm convinced we are having a girl but mostly because HG is linked to increased chance!

ChickenNugget86 · 13/10/2019 16:57

@Pastnowfuture @sunshine8888

Thanks Smile

I actually feel ok at the moment but have to admit the needles will take me a while to get used to. My hubby is away this weekend with work so I've been feeling down and had to do the injections myself which I'm struggling with. They don't hurt at all and it's really small the needle, but when I see it I kinda freak out. I don't like seeing the needle going in to the skin vom

My next scan seems such a long time away! We both want to find out the sex, we don't care if it's a boy or girl as long as they are healthy. I've always pictured having a boy though. I know this isn't always a popular opinion on mumsnet but I think we'll find out the sex but not tell family or friends x

Sunshine8888 · 14/10/2019 08:14

@chickennugget86 I think each to their own on the gender thing 😊 I’m fed up of keeping a secret so don’t think I’ll be able to keep it to myself 😂🙈. We should both be 12 weeks on Sunday right? I’ve just had an app come through for my 12 week scan on Sunday afternoon but I can’t make it because I’m away 😬

tacosplease · 14/10/2019 10:03

@Sunshine8888 I get my results a week on Tuesday - it takes two weeks apparently as the blood sample is sent to America for testing! I’m on holiday at the moment, which is helping the time pass quicker.

I'm convinced we are having a girl but mostly because HG is linked to increased chance!

I’m thinking that I might be having a boy for the opposite reason - I’ve had mild nausea but nothing close to HG. But I don’t have an inkling other than that really. Hope your sickness eases off soon Flowers

tacosplease · 14/10/2019 10:08

I think each to their own on the gender thing

Part of me wishes I could wait to find out at the birth for the exciting surprise, but I honestly just don’t have the patience/willpower! I’ll be finding out when I get my Harmony results a week tomorrow.

I’m hoping I’m not one of the 5% whose Harmony samples aren’t able to be tested - that would be so disappointing! I’d hope to get a call from the FMC in advance if that were the case.

Sunshine8888 · 14/10/2019 11:47

@tacosplease oh I’m surprised by that! Mine says results are sent to London and back in 7 days!

tacosplease · 14/10/2019 13:18

@Sunshine8888 oh, I wonder why the FMC send theirs to America? Very envious of your shorter wait!

mintbear · 15/10/2019 18:38

So fed up.
I've had enough of being sick, feeling sick, feeling uncomfortable, having sore boobs, bursting into tears and feeling totally exhausted.
I feel so disgusting. It's meant to be getting better soon.. anyone else feel the same?

tacosplease · 15/10/2019 18:56

@mintbear how far along are you? I’m 11 weeks and the nausea has eased off quite considerably in the last couple of days - although I hope that’s not famous last words! Hope you feel better soon x

mintbear · 15/10/2019 19:03

@tacosplease
I'm 11+3
Feel guilty for moaning as I know others have it worse. I'm not bad enough to be in hospital but I'm sick most of the time. I have antisickness tablets. I think I'm just having a particularly bad day and I've cracked!

Sunshine8888 · 15/10/2019 20:15

@mintbear I feel the same, my symptoms seem to have got worse in the last few days, it’s horrible! I thought they’d be easing up by now (11+2)

tacosplease · 15/10/2019 23:57

@mintbear don’t feel guilty - that’s what this thread is for! The bad days are really difficult. The good news is that at 11+3, you should be over the worst of it before too long.

Pastnowfuture · 16/10/2019 18:34

We got our Iona test results today. All low risk and baby is...a BOY! We are both over the moon. I didn't even realise how nervous I was until they rang and my heart started beating so hard in my chest. Grin

Sunshine8888 · 16/10/2019 20:28

Great news @Pastnowfuture!! Congrats 💙

Had the harmony test today, should get results next week. Baby measuring ahead now at 11+6! ☺️

mintbear · 16/10/2019 21:17

Hi all,
Feeling better in myself, although physically I've been sick again today.

I've not heard of the harmony or Iona tests. My nhs trust offer a test for downs Edwards and pataus, so would there be any benefit in getting these tests for me?

Congrats on your news of a boy! I suppose that's the benefit, finding out early what you're having!

Sunshine8888 · 16/10/2019 21:19

@mintbear yes the nhs offer screening but it’s nowhere near as accurate so some ladies prefer to pay privately for the blood tests as well. Can also find out gender from 10 weeks x

tacosplease · 16/10/2019 23:04

@Pastnowfuture that’s amazing news, congratulations!!

I have five more days until I get my results - not long now!

Pastnowfuture · 17/10/2019 11:09

@tacosplease @Sunshine8888 @mintbear
Thank you. Knowing the gender just made it feel so real which I think really helps in getting me through these rough days of feeling ill.
