I love following the big May 2020 threads but there's so many people on there!

I'd love to keep up with a smaller group? Anyone keen to share the below credentials and general feelings/observations/hopes/fears; and support one another over the next 7 months?

EDD: 6 May 2020
Age: 33
Baby #: #1
Location: London
Appointments (if any) so far: Booking-in with GP, scan at EPU same day when I was 6w+6d as I had bleeding early on, first midwife appointment happening 11 October.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

@pastnowfuture yes I can imagine it does! I feel nervous for my screening / blood test results, there are a couple of ladies on the due in April forum who have had worrying results. will I ever stop feeling anxious?!

Pastnowfuture · 17/10/2019 12:17

@sunshine888 I know what you mean. As soon as I was past the initial elation of the clear results my brain automatically finds something else to worry about.

Fingers crossed your results are reassuring but if anything worries you at least know everyone on this thread can provide support.

tacosplease · 17/10/2019 12:47

@Sunshine8888 does your Harmony test include a 12 week scan or is it just the blood test? I went for a package deal at the FMC, which includes a 12 week scan when I collect my results. I have my NHS 12 week blood test and scan booked in two days after the Harmony results/scan, and am so confused over whether I need the NHS appointment or not! I’m too worried to cancel it in case it includes anything the Harmony test/scan doesn’t.

On a sillier note, I realised Meghan and Harry’s adorable baby Archie was born on May 6th this year, meaning Meghan was at exactly the same stage of pregnancy last year as us May 1st-10th ladies are now! Smile Naturally I’ve been googling pictures of her early bump to see how they compare to mine. This was her on October 23rd: www.tmz.com/2018/10/23/meghan-markle-baby-bump-prince-harry-fiji/

She looks huge in comparison to me!

Sunshine8888 · 17/10/2019 13:14

@tacosplease I had my scan yday before I had the harmony blood test. Then nhs scan on Tuesday which I’ll definitely go to because they’ll also do the nuchal translucency which I don’t think they do as part of the harmony scan. I think the nhs tests vary slightly so my sonographer yday said to still have the nhs tests as well. I feel like a pin cushion! I’ll have had 3 blood tests and a flu jab all within the space of a month 😂

Sunshine8888 · 17/10/2019 13:16

I’m really starting to show! I really don’t know when to tell work, I want to wait until after my test results but my boss is away next week so it would have to be the week after. I’d be getting on for 14 weeks 🤷🏽‍♀️

tacosplease · 17/10/2019 13:29

@Sunshine8888 At the FMC they refer to the 12 week scan they’ll be doing as the nuchal test, so I think they will measure nuchal translucency as well? Will you be having the blood tests on the NHS too, or do they only test for the exact same things the Harmony does (ie Down’s, Edwards and Patau)?

I have a bit of a tummy but it honestly just looks like I’ve had a big meal - nothing like Meghan’s!

Pastnowfuture · 17/10/2019 13:42

@Sunshine8888 @tacosplease I was confused about this too! I asked a midwife and they said the 'combined test' ie blood tests are just for Down’s, Edwards and Patau so no need. I am still going for the scan to get another pic of my little man and this will include checking nuchal translucency. They will also check for any other obvious physical issues although she said the 20 week scan was more likely to pick something up because its hard to see heart development etc at this early stage.

I have no bump whatsoever. I am actually much thinner than before I got pregnant because of the HG. I'm sure when I'm massive I will regret saying this but right now I can't wait for a round tummy to appear!

tacosplease · 17/10/2019 13:52

Thanks @Pastnowfuture! So since I’m having a 12 week nuchal scan done privately as part of the Harmony, it sounds like I won’t need the NHS 12 week appointment at all?

I’m excited for a bump to appear as well!

Sunshine8888 · 17/10/2019 13:58

I’m having the nhs tests as well on advice from the sonographer yday as she said they look for other things as well that the harmony doesn’t - she mentioned something about papp A.

Sunshine8888 · 17/10/2019 13:59

She didn’t do the nuchal measurements yday but said she had a quick look and couldn’t see anything abnormal which was reassuring

tacosplease · 17/10/2019 14:04

Thanks Sunshine. Maybe I’ll go for the NHS scan/bloods as well then, just for peace of mind that everything has been covered. It can’t hurt to get a second opinion! I have read on MN that if the NHS blood tests come back as higher risk than the Harmony, it’s best to disregard the NHS ones as they’re not as accurate - which is good to know.

mintbear · 17/10/2019 14:05

I've got a serious bump on so I've got some comfort from seeing those pics of Meghan!

I'd really like to keep it under wraps for as long as possible in the office.. I feel it's so obvious and I think people must be looking at me - I'm banking on everyone being far too English to comment on any extra 'weight' I am carrying!

I'm also considering taking my mat leave as early as possible and keeping an open mind with regards to returning as I don't know how I will feel at that time.

Sunshine8888 · 17/10/2019 14:08

Yes and you’ll get to see baby again @tacosplease and that’s always lovely! Yes the sonographer also said the same yday - ignore nhs results compared to harmony as the false positive rate is much higher with nhs

tacosplease · 17/10/2019 14:22

Yes and you’ll get to see baby again @tacosplease and that’s always lovely!

True, although my private and NHS scans are only two days apart! Grin

Pastnowfuture · 17/10/2019 14:44

@tacosplease Oops sorry for causing confusion I thought Iona and Harmony were the same but it seems they are bit different so best to get all checks. My background risk for Downs Syndrome was 1 in 175 (without considering nuchal measurements) so not high risk but I still prefer my 1 in a million result from baby DNA.

I wish we got more scans during pregnancy. I find it mind blowing! Grin

Sunshine8888 · 18/10/2019 19:04

Ahh I would happily check in on baby every day if I could!

tacosplease · 20/10/2019 14:50

How is everyone doing this weekend? I have a 12 week nuchal scan plus my Harmony results on Tuesday morning - I’m starting to feel really nervous!

fluffyunicorns86 · 20/10/2019 15:16

Hello all can I join :) I am 11+5 and got my 12 week scan tomorrow. This will be my 4th child. Going to be a tough ride for us with my history. I am going to be having a cervical stitch put in at 16 weeks.. hope you all doing ok?

mintbear · 20/10/2019 18:13

@fluffyunicorns86
I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow too!
Does anyone know how long it takes to get your test results back?
Hubby is really looking forward to this scan, I think it'll make everything really sink in.

I've had a pretty rough weekend, sickness doesn't seem to be any better at all (quite the opposite). Had a good old cry this morning, symptoms with a cold and having the flu jab were all a bit too much for me this weekend.

Sunshine8888 · 21/10/2019 08:26

I have my 12 week nhs scan tomorrow eve and should also get harmony results this week, the anxiety is sky high! We’ve also told a few people now and I’m so terrified something might be wrong and I’ll have to untell them 😢 trying not to let my mind go there but it does!

Good luck today @mintbear and @fluffyunicorns86, let us know how the scans go.

I went to bed at 7pm last night and cried myself to sleep, I felt so awful. I’ve been getting these thumping headaches which make me feel really sick, maybe it’s related to tiredness. Back in work today and just not sure how I’m going to get through it this week 😢

tacosplease · 21/10/2019 09:07

Good luck @fluffyunicorns86 and @mintbear for today and to @sunshine8888 for tomorrow! Hope everything goes well for you and that we can all relax a bit after getting the big 12 week milestone out of the way.

I no longer feel groggy in the mornings but the nausea has returned, although it’s not half as bad as it was. I’m now 12+3 so am hoping it will ease soon! I definitely find it’s worse when I’m hungry.

tacosplease · 21/10/2019 09:08

Back in work today and just not sure how I’m going to get through it this week

Work is so tough isn’t it? I feel I’ve been treading water since I got pregnant Sad

mintbear · 21/10/2019 12:09

Scan done!
Had a really good amount of time to see baby on the screen. Saw lots of movement, mouth moving, toes and nt was 1.3 so all very positive.
Moved my dd to 30 April, I asked if there were any concerns over this as per ovulation I make my dd 5 May and she said no.
Good luck to everyone else with their scans, for some reason having the scan in the hospital has made it really sink in.

Anyone due 1st-10th May 2020?
fluffyunicorns86 · 21/10/2019 12:19

Thank you my scan isn't until 2:20 and so nervous about it. @mintbear glad scan went well and a lovely scan picture of baby.

mintbear · 21/10/2019 12:28

@fluffyunicorns86
I'm sure you will have a lovely experience, I really felt like I bonded with baby, they just took more time with me and tbh, they were friendlier than the private scans I've had. It was just nice, relax and enjoy x
