I love following the big May 2020 threads but there's so many people on there!

I'd love to keep up with a smaller group? Anyone keen to share the below credentials and general feelings/observations/hopes/fears; and support one another over the next 7 months?

EDD: 6 May 2020
Age: 33
Baby #: #1
Location: London
Appointments (if any) so far: Booking-in with GP, scan at EPU same day when I was 6w+6d as I had bleeding early on, first midwife appointment happening 11 October.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

TK x

So pleased it all went well @tacosplease! Yes scan on Thursday, I hope everything’s ok 🤞🏻 This will actually be my third scan due to bleeding from weeks 4-9! This is actually my Nhs dating scan at 12 weeks from LMP but I’m sure I’m measuring at least a week behind so not sure what will happen x

tacosplease · 08/10/2019 17:38

Good luck @Sunshine8888! Let us know how it goes x

tacosplease · 09/10/2019 09:45

Hi ladies, how are you all? I’m not feeling great today - I was unbelievably tired yesterday so went to bed at 9pm. I’ve woken up this morning still feeling absolutely shattered and very groggy! I’m 10+5 now - is anyone else feeling like this?

Caspianberg · 09/10/2019 10:16

Morning.
Had my second scan this morning, all went well.

Due date potentially moved from 2nd May, to 30th April

Is anyone else doing the Harmony type test? I have been told i need to book it for elsewhere in the next 2 weeks if i want to test for various trisomies. I kind of feel like a) i probably wouldn't abort anyway, b) the test doesn't test for 101 other genetic issues there could be so is there any point?

Emmaaa1990 · 09/10/2019 10:33

@tacosplease hey I feel the same so tired! I slept like a log apart form waking up at 3 busting for a wee! But I'm still so shattered! I'm 10 weeks tomorrow must be around this time it hits us 🙈 weird isn't it! The sickness is draining though too I wake up every morning and I'm sick then go to work, working is a struggle at the minute 🙈

@Caspianberg ahh that's good news! Oh potential April bubba now aww! I don't actually know what the harmony test is if I'm honest?

Caspianberg · 09/10/2019 10:43

@Emmaaa1990 - its a blood test and scan that checks for things like down syndrome, and patau syndrome. But it can only show ie high fluid on neck on scan as an indicator or higher certain things (no idea what) in blood. But it isn't completely accurate, and if they need to double-check based on higher results they then do the needle into baby thing which I wouldn't want anyway as that has a miscarriage risk.

So, Im 29 which is a general low risk for the above. The consultant said over 35 that they start giving the test for free. It would be €450 for us.

I have also somehow lost 3kg since 6 week appointment. Haven't been actually sick, and have been eating less healthy stiff as only carbs and similar stopped feeling ill. So no idea.

Emmaaa1990 · 09/10/2019 10:54

@Caspianberg ohhhh I see wow so that's pretty in depth then!

I'm 29 too 😊 yeah that's a lot of money isn't it but then if it's something you really want to do then it's worth it isn't it.

Someone I know said they lost 2 stone during their pregnancy but was all fine I think we fluctuate in the beginning. I definitely am struggling to eat so I know I haven't eaten much Cos I'm always feeling/being sick. I just eat when I can 🙈

tacosplease · 09/10/2019 11:15

I’ve lost about 5lb since finding out I was pregnant, but I think it could be partly to do with giving up alcohol as I did love my wine before!

Sunshine8888 · 09/10/2019 13:13

Glad all is well @Caspianberg!

I am feeling so lucky with no sickness. Baby was dancing away at 9 weeks so hopefully will be doing the same tomorrow. I’m excited but also nervous about my scan! It’s in the evening so have to get through work first as well!

Probably will have the harmony test yes if everything is ok tomorrow.

My tiredness comes and goes. On Monday I felt great and spent ages making a nice dinner, yesterday I felt awful and just wanted to go to bed! I’m 10+3 today x

Caspianberg · 10/10/2019 13:51

We told family yesterday. I think my dad then proceeded to call everyone he has ever met the whole afternoon! I wasn't going to tell 'everyone' yet, but heyho.
First grandchild on both sides of the family.

TurquoiseKiss · 10/10/2019 14:45

Hi everybody, its been a while since I checked in! Welcome new joiners!

Sunshine8888: I hope your scan goes well today! Tell us once you get a spare minute.

Emmaaa1990 and tacosplease: Sounds like we are in the same boat on the feeling rough scale! Yesterday I was 10 weeks exactly and woke up feeling like I’d been hit by a bus. I’d slept a solid 8 hours undisturbed but when the alarm went off I felt like I had a 10/10 hangover. No vomiting thankfully, just lots of nausea which resulted in lots of slow moving. I got into work at 10.30am (usually I’m in by 9.30am, luckily nobody really noticed!). Picked up some ginger sweets in Holland & Barrett yesterday, they’re OK but don’t last very long. They’re hard boiled to suck on, but really tiny.

Tomorrow is my first midwife appointment. It’s at 9am, given the rush hour I’ll need to leave at 8am to drive myself to the hospital. Anxious this is peak time when I feel my worst. I’ll bring some old tea towels and a change of clothes if the worst happens! I’m a bit nervous about being weighed. I think my BMI is around 30 (so could definitely be better) but also for the last 6 weeks my diet has been terrible, the usual pregnancy cravings for carbs, sugar and salt. So I’ve probably gained a few lbs or more.

Not wanting to wish time away, but I just want the 12-week scan to be here now.

Sending lots of good wishes to everybody x

So glad I came on here today and saw this post. I'm due 11th May. I'll be 10 weeks on Monday. Just had my scan date through but had to push it back a little due to a holiday in half term.

If you don't mind me asking what do you all do for a living? I'm a teacher and really struggling with the tiredness, mostly. I want to carry on exercising as I've always been pretty active but I am struggling to have any get up and go by the time I get home.

Emmaaa1990 · 10/10/2019 16:29

@TurquoiseKiss oh it's horrible isn't it! I'm bang on 10 weeks today and have felt awful since 5 🙈

I had my first midwife yesterday and I was so nervous as usually I have high blood pressure when I'm anxious but shockingly all was well and it's actually okay in the end!
I've been carrying nappy sacks in my car as I've thrown up a few times in my car but in a bag luckily 😂😂 I have to carry them everywhere at the moment so completely get you! Let us know how you get on & good luck!!

@linz1987 oh wow I bet that is a hard job to continue when you feel rubbish! I'm an operations co ordinator for a water company so I'm office based but it's not flexible at all! I had to tell my work at 8 weeks because they kept hearing me throw up 🙈 the tiredness is something else though isn't it! It's definitely got worse too!

Sunshine8888 · 10/10/2019 20:13

Scan went well thanks ladies 😊 baby is measuring 10+4 as expected so 10 days behind LMP and too small for the screening tests. I’ll be called back in about 10 days time and in the meantime I’ve booked in for the harmony test next weds! X

Caspianberg · 11/10/2019 09:36

@Sunshine8888 - lovely to hear the scan went well.

I think i have decided against the harmony test. I feel like as its just ratios not a 100% it would panic me even more if a low ratio. I wouldn't then have further testing involving any needles direct into the baby so would be left in limbo unknowing either way.

tacosplease · 11/10/2019 10:16

@Sunshine8888 Great news, congrats! Smile

I’m 11 weeks pregnant today. I can’t believe I’m over a quarter of the way through pregnancy already - where is the time going?

Emmaaa1990 · 11/10/2019 10:42

@Sunshine8888 ahhh glad the scan went well! So exciting!

Does anyone else keep having a fear they aren't pregnant? I had a scan at 7 weeks and saw and heard heartbeat, everything was spot on. I'm now 10 weeks and i still feel pregnant but my brain is like what if it's not there anymore at the next scan? Anyone else have this anxiety about it? I have all he symptoms in the world but I'm still worrying 🙈

Sunshine8888 · 11/10/2019 12:10

@Emmaaa1990 oh all the time! I’ve had scans at 6 weeks, 9 weeks and 10+4 and i’m still not believing I may have a baby next may!

@Caspianberg fair enough, I definitely think each to their own on it. I’m just one of these people that like to have as much info as possible and I’m fortunate enough to have been able to save the money for it. My mum is coming with me because it’s getting difficult for DH to keep missing work and she’s really excited. We’ve both taken the afternoon off and will have some mother daughter time 😊

Caspianberg · 11/10/2019 12:29

@Sunshine8888 - yes the cost isn't really an issue, its just i know i wouldn't go down the needle route after if results showed anything, and i wouldn't abort with just harmony results and not needle confirmation. So a bit of a limbo really. I hope you have a nice day next week with your mother.

TurquoiseKiss · 11/10/2019 13:41

Hi everybody, my booking-in appointment a bit of a non-starter today as one of the midwives and one of the HCAs was sick so there was less staff on. I did have bloods done, height and weight recorded, and gave a urine sample but had to re-book for 2 weeks time to go through all the paperwork. Obviously i'm glad all of that still happened and I guess its just one of those things. My 12 week scan is in 13 days time, and the completion of my booking-in is the day after (annoyingly they couldn't offer me both on the same day).

My BMI is 33.9 - I haven't weighed myself in years, probably irresponsible of me from once I got BFP - but i'll try my best to keep active. Hoping once 1st trimester is over the feeling I can only stomach carbs will lift a bit and I can eat more healthily again. Due to my BMI score I've been booked for a blood test to look at my sugar levels at the end of January when i'll be 24 weeks.

Emmaaa1990: Yes I definitely know what you mean, even though I hate the nausea I guess as long as that's still with me its a good sign there's a little person in there!

How's everybody else feeling today?

Sunshine8888 · 11/10/2019 16:54

Hi @TurquoiseKiss ah that’s a bit annoying but yes at least you had the tests done and it wasn’t a total waste of time. My BMI was very good before I got pregnant, I’m not so sure now after all the carbs I’m constantly eating 😬

I’ve had a really tough day, been feeling awful - not sure if it was the flu jab or pregnancy related. I’ve never been so happy to get home! Quiet eve in for me!!

Lifesforlivingandloving · 11/10/2019 16:56

@Emmaaa1990

All the time constant worrying x had a scan at 6+4 but pushed back a few days . Saw a heartbeat which was wonderful
But still so terrified during this wait for the 12 week scan
Especially after reading sad stories of others in groups
Think as well because it's miscarriage awareness month it's more publicised so puts the fear of god in us pregnant women!

Just staying positive and hoping and praying everything is ok x 🙏

lydia97 · 11/10/2019 17:17

Hi - I’m new to mumsnet 🙌

I’m due 8th May - but have 2 miscarriages before so just hoping I get to 12 weeks.

Big difference this time is the constant sickness - I’m really struggling. Been sick multiple times everyday. Can’t sit up without being sick. I’m on meds now, but still not feeling 100%.

Hoping it ends really soon. 🤞
Can’t wait for the 12 week scan, so I can start explaining to people why I haven’t left the house for 5 weeks. 😂

Pastnowfuture · 12/10/2019 13:47

Just checked in to see how everyone else is doing. Sorry to hear many of you are struggling with sympoms but 'yey' for all the scan excitement!!!

I'm signed off sick with HG until end of the month. I have never had a day off sick since I started with the company 6 years ago so it feels really weird knowing my cases (I support families who are adopting) are being looked after someone else. My manager has been very supportive and has told me not to worry about anything so I'm feeling lucky in that respect.

We should get our Iona test results on Monday or Tuesday. I was really hoping they would be done early so we wouldn't have to wait the weekend. Confused

AnaisAnais12 · 12/10/2019 20:18

Hi everyone can I join? I'm due 9th May with my second baby. Anxiously awaiting my scan on 29th Oct Confused
I'm going to be consultant led due to history of MC's and hypothyroidism. Anybody else consultant led? x
