Bit cheeky as my due date is May 30th, hope no one minds. Blush

The May group seems quite established. I've been slow to come to back to the Mumsnet fold, did not expect to fall first month trying.

Really excited to hear about all your lovely BFP's and share our pregnancy journeys. Smile

Got my BFP today. Expecting my 2nd. DS was a May '18 baby.

@Chaosonthehorizon i just got my results back from my gtt and i have gd, but someone suggested on fb to ask to be retested as it was my first number that was out by .3 and my 2nd one was well below the limit.

@Cornishbumpkin beautiful picture xx

Chaosonthehorizon · 12/12/2019 10:01

cookielove up to you of course but a fair few people get diagnosed on the fasting level and that is what they then struggle with throughout, demonstrating that they do have it. I failed on my second level but it was the fastings at only 5.6 a couple of times by 36 wks that put me on insulin. Eating the GD way (not outdated nhs advice) is healthy anyway and will do no harm. Google gestational diabetes uk, grab a cuppa and have a good old read. Also on Facebook. Saved my bacon last time

12 week scan this morning, all looking good as far as they can tell at this stage! Just waiting for screening results to come back now. As soon as you get past one worry it’s on to the next hey! Dates were pretty much what I thought, just moved by a few days to 11+4 today, EDD 28th June. Been sick 3 times today so far and my toddler got up for the day at 4.30am SadEnvy

cookielove · 12/12/2019 20:28

I have actually decided not to get rechecked! Yes it reduces my options when i give birth but trying to eat healthier, giving my baby the best start, being monitored more closely and extra scans makes it worth it x

But thank you @Chaosonthehorizon

Cornishbumpkin · 12/12/2019 20:38

Thankyou @MissisBee and @cookielove - hopefully you can keep your GD at bay with just diet and it doesn't cause too much trouble

Chaosonthehorizon · 12/12/2019 21:55

Aargh, my left leg behind the knee has been a bit sore for the last couple of days. I have hereditary varicose veins but just sneaked a look and it looks gross 🤢. I am wearing compression tights already. No idea what else can be done but am very sad to be adding another complication this early on, not even 15 wks. Had them last time but never looked like this

Notnowokay · 13/12/2019 09:24

@MissisBee and @cookielove sorry to hear about the GD diagnosis. I hope it wouldn't cause to many challenges and you only see great hcp.

Yesterday, when I went for my normal diabetes appointment, an obstetrician called me. I had an appointment with them without knowing. If it wasn't for the diabetes appointment I would have missed it. So my hospital is not being cheap, just disorganised.

She offered to listen to the heart beat and instead of saying no, I asked her are you sure you want to do that? I didn't want her to do that as I was worried about her not finding it, as it is hard at 16 weeks. Luckly I felt the baby move as I got on the bed. My poor fat sore stomach, she had to dig in and search like crazy as I started to panic because it took her a very long time to find it. That was definitely not worth the stress. I'm 100% happy that it was found, but I can feel baby move and knew it was hard to locate baby heart at 16 weeks. But seeing a doctor struggling to locate it, is anxiety inducing. I need to practice saying no.

Kajlo · 19/12/2019 07:37

I hope you’re all feeling OK ladies.

@cookielove - sorry to hear about the GD diagnosis!

Mine is developed into proper gd now (not just very nearly gd) so I’m on Metformin. Still struggling with fasting readings though. Turns out I fall asleep to early in the evening (too soon after dinner) - so I’ll need to avoid sitting on the sofa and clean the house instead! (Or something else exhausting to keep me awake..)

@Cornishbumpkin - lovely photo! We had our scan on Monday, and all seems well - so pleased, and it was so lovely to see the little heart beat too (Confirmed to be only one). Our 3 yo DD is beyond excitement... long wait to 22 June though!

Does anyone else with toddlers intend to get a buggy/pram for two? Or will you make do with a singleton pram and a scooter attached to it? A bit early to plan, I know - but I can’t help myself.

Have a lovely day everyone xx

LillianFullStop · 19/12/2019 10:54

to those having to deal with GD on top of everything else! My test is at 28w so fingers crossed it will be ok. I escaped it last pregnancy.

That's lovely that DD is so excited @Kajlo! How did you tell her the news? My DD is also 3 but we haven't told her yet as we want to be able to tell her whether it's a baby girl or boy so trying to wait until after the 20w scan. We are seeing family from abroad this Christmas though so we will be telling them then so I am thinking of telling her anyway as people will talk about it and she will overhear.

I am planning on getting a buggy board. DD can ride a scooter but she zooms off and I can't be chasing a toddler on a scooter with a newborn in a pram right after giving birth!

Kajlo · 19/12/2019 14:58

@LillianFullStop - I am keeping all fingers crossed for you to avoid gd!

Funnily, our DD actually guessed that there was a baby in my tummy before we told her, and really early too - at 6 weeks. My bump bounced out at around 5 weeks, and it was getting difficult to hide it from her to be fair. We told her that there was a seed in my tummy, and if it grows it will become a baby - and if it doesn't grow, it won't. Now she's seen the ultrasound shot, we are a bit more likely to talk about a baby. She's very excited about it all and she's been into babies big time for a year. One or her nursery staff members is pregnant too, and she knows about bumps and babies. I think that's what made her guess it so early too.

We are not finding out the gender and waiting fro the big reveal on the day, and she is OK with not knowing if it's a sister or a brother. She has asked what the baby's name is though, but we tell her that we won't know that until we actually meet the baby.

I'm sure your DD will be delighted to know there's a baby in the making!

A buggy board is a great idea, I'll look into that. Thanks for the advice. x

LillianFullStop · 06/01/2020 12:36

Happy New Year all - this board has gone quiet! I know there is another June 2020 thread on the Pregnancy board maybe everyone has moved onto that one?
