Bit cheeky as my due date is May 30th, hope no one minds. Blush

The May group seems quite established. I've been slow to come to back to the Mumsnet fold, did not expect to fall first month trying.

Really excited to hear about all your lovely BFP's and share our pregnancy journeys. Smile

Got my BFP today. Expecting my 2nd. DS was a May '18 baby.

Sunshine 8920 I was surprised to read about the anticoagulants, I'm on daily injections of clexane and 150mg aspirin and no one at my hospital at Mary's has mentioned not to take my pregnacare? Im 13 weeks. I'm pretty sure it's fine. It's so confusing as aspirin say don't rake if pregnant and you should never take steroids but I've been on prednisolone for 3 months to prevent a fourth miscarriage so I'm pretty sure we can ignore instructions on meds! Good luck with your scan!!

Sunshine8920 · 04/12/2019 12:06

Thank you :-)
Scan went well eventually and I asked and about the pregnacare and it is fine for me to take...relief!!
Xx

MissisBee · 04/12/2019 20:37

I guess it's probably referring to warfarin, but no one's going to be on warfarin in pregnancy anyway, but maybe they might start pregnacare beforehand?

Sunshine8920 · 04/12/2019 21:19

It's because of the vitamin k apparently which can change the effectiveness of the anti coagulant. I guess it's not enough for them to be concerned though? Smile

AttenburyEmeralds · 06/12/2019 10:36

Thank you, yes a huge relief! Now if this nausea can just go away before Xmas I'll be set. We're going to my mum's in my home country so I want to eat everything Xmas Smile

I think a lot of things aren't tested in pregnancy or for cross compatibility so the drug companies leave it to the GP. I had a big drama trying to get treatment for eczema one time - it was on my boobs so kind of urgent - and the GP just read my the section in the manual that was clearly for serious internal ones and left it up to me 🤦‍♀️ got a second opinion...

LillianFullStop · 06/12/2019 13:19

I agree @AttenburyEmeralds - went for travel vaccinations today and they didn't have evidence either way of the risks to pregnancy for one of the vaccines so I just skipped it to be safe.

I’m back - after a long time of being ill with this and that - nursery bugs, and getting alarmingly close to getting my gestational diabetes back again. What a palava! Anyway, regarding meds (and I am on enough to probably kill a small horse) - my GPs say that they prefer to err on the side of caution, and that this is why pregnant women are likely not to get meds. That said, when my sinusitis was at its worse (including a perforated eardrum) - they gave me antibiotics which helped (fortunately). I read up on all the evidence available and there was no evidence from clinical trials that would categorically imply that I couldn’t have them. I’m just glad I took them and keeping all fingers and toes crossed...
Pharmacists are much less likely to give you meds though, I find.

Does anyone else on here get gestational diabetes really early the 2nd time around? I’m only 11+3, and already on the blood tests.. Had half a pizza yesterday (I was desperate!)... and my reading shot through the roof. Sad

Our scan is on the 16th... can’t wait! Xxx

cookielove · 07/12/2019 08:19

I have my first gtt on Monday, i will be 15+6, i am really hoping i pass!

I failed my 2nd on in my first pregnancy, i was only border line though, i think its because i had landed a long haul flight the day before and my body was totally out of whack.

I am still struggling with eating though, food just isn't that appealing, i had started to get a bit better but i am full of cold so that hasn't helped either.

Ahhh so frustrating

Worth it for the baby though Grin

15+4

Chaosonthehorizon · 07/12/2019 11:52

Had GD last time around and now have been home monitoring since the beginning. All ok so far, just thrilled to get each day done ok to be honest. Had a routine scan of the babies the other day and the consultant reminded me that I am very high risk for GD, hate hearing that. Just hope I’m not missing any spikes. I am eating well but still quite a lot of ‘good’ carbs to keep the weight on otherwise I am going to struggle with twins

Notnowokay · 07/12/2019 15:16

@Kajlo, I'm a type 1 diabetic so I'm on insulin. Even after more than decade of diabetes I can't get good readings after a pizza. Well I can get it right after 2hr but after 4+ hours I know my sugar is likely to high. High by how much? I don't know, my body likes to do diffrent things at different times. Because of that I don't eat pizza until I deliver baby. You can try low carb pizza recepies but I haven't found a good replacement.

Do it like Chaosonthehorizon and eat carbs as we need them. But limit the amount you consume per sitting. That was the best advice given by my doctor to stop spikes. Eat no more than 40g of carb per sitting and give at least 2hr rest before eating more carbs if you want to, is what I was told. If you can't wait eat no carb foods like eggs and chicken (and tomatoes for me as they don't affect my blood sugar readings).

Kajlo · 08/12/2019 06:40

@cookielove - keeping my fingers crossed for you! And agree, totally worth it for the baby! X

@Chaosonthehorizon - congratulations on the twin front! And I can only imagine how hard juggling healthy eating and weight must be. We haven’t had our scan yet so we don’t know if we’re having a singleton or more yet.,,, with a family history of twins, my size and my age, it’s a nervous wait! X

@Notnowokay - thanks for the info and advice. And it’s a shame about pizza; my favourite food, but so worth it though. I find I’m good with avocado, feta, and peanut butter (without added sugar) so they’ll be my treats from now on Smile - and a glass of sugar and alcohol free GT now and then! Gin Xmas Smile x

Desperately trying out sugar free gingerbread recipes though. Has anyone tried fiber syrup? My attempt with stevia landed in the bin last night... d’oh. X

cookielove · 08/12/2019 11:40

@Notnowokay oddly i look after a little one (nursery worker) who has type 1 diabetes and when they have pizza they always drop, we have to multiwave it! Every time!!!

I am just looking forward to a bit of time off work, on Monday Grin

Cornishbumpkin · 08/12/2019 18:09

@Kajlo it might be worth looking at some slimming world pages, like pinch of nom to see if they have sugar free ginger bread with a better sweetener

Notnowokay · 08/12/2019 19:55

@cookielove, I have figured it out for most foods except pizza. Even with a nurse advice I couldn't get it right. I gave it up to quick, but regretted it during ds1 pregnancy, when a big craving hit Blush. I ended up ordering a pizza and only eating the toppings, then I cried for being so wasteful. I blame pregnancy hormones for thoes tears but I still hate wasting/ throwing away food when so many people are going hungry.

Rinoa · 09/12/2019 13:09

@Notnowokay have you tried lo dough ? My DP and I use it to make pizzas for ourselves ! Plus cuts the carbs

Rinoa · 09/12/2019 13:11

lodough.co/blogs/recipes/tagged/type_pizza

Notnowokay · 10/12/2019 15:34

@Rinoa, thank you for the recommendation. I haven't tried it. I'm not going to try new recepies yet. I'm waiting for resistance to hit before I change my diet. Right now, the food I'm eating is working really well for me. Insulin resistance starts somewhere in the second trimester. I know I will have to make changes then.

LillianFullStop · 10/12/2019 20:15

Hope everyone is well - 14+4 and time is dragging until my next scan! Saw the doctor yesterday who prescribed low dose aspirin (geriatric pregnancy you know) and I had traces of blood in urine sample so suspected UTI so I'm on antibiotics. Not sure if either of those are the cause but my BLOATING has ramped up a few notches and I swear I look about 6-7 months along!

MissisBee · 10/12/2019 22:18

I'm on aspirin too (previous pre-eclampsia). Heartburn is wild with it so now on ranitidine too. And GP switched my anti-sickness to ondansetron, so looking forward to see how that goes.
12+6

Chaosonthehorizon · 11/12/2019 11:54

Anyone waiting for gestational diabetes to hit, I was advised to make dietary changes from the beginning but I have slightly compromised by not going as low carb as I will need to in order to keep the weight on. Now on iron and will be on aspirin from 16 wks, wow this pregnancy is definitely the worst yet!

LillianFullStop · 11/12/2019 13:48

@Chaosonthehorizon I have my test planned for 28w.

Last pregnancy I was on nothing but prenatal vitamins it sure feels like I'm on more medication and have more symptoms this time around! Very bloated but no heartburn yet thankfully.

Cornishbumpkin · 11/12/2019 14:17

Finally had my '12 week' scan today. Thought I was 12+1 but actually 13+2 😁 due date now 15th June. Nausea is a lot better so hopefully can start enjoying pregnancy. Hope everyone is well

Congrats @Cornishbumpkin! Lovely scan and it must be nice to be bumped up a week Smile

Cornishbumpkin · 11/12/2019 17:18

Thankyou @LillianFullStop absolutely, 1 less week to wait to meet this little munchkin Grin

MissisBee · 11/12/2019 21:51
