I think I've got a varicose vein! It's about a cm long and blue and on my calf Shock nooooo!

Megan2018 · 12/08/2019 14:03

@sarahelizabeth99 mine is diet controlled so far and been very straightforward luckily.I was set for induction at EDD anyway due to age, yet to find out if I might need early induction. Should find out by 23rd Aug.

TheCraicDealer · 12/08/2019 14:20

Oh I have one of those Kyle- suspect I had it pre-pregnancy but it's got a bit bigger and sometimes has a throbby sensation. Showed the midwife when she asked about varicose veins and she was all, "oh no, I wouldn't worry about one that size". Well you might not love, but it's not on your fucking leg is it?!

kyles101 · 12/08/2019 14:34

@TheCraicDealer that's how I feel 😩 is that it now, is it there forever? I'm refusing to google 😢

IVEgottheDECAF · 12/08/2019 14:40

I have some spider veins near my ankles that i gained during my last pregnancy (3 years ago) they are still there!

DustyDoorframes · 12/08/2019 14:50

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri that's a pain! I think I got nearly 3 weeks from mine starting to creep up last time- it took at least a week to edge up to the point of medication, and was then controlled by medication for a bit. So 38 weeks seems pretty possible?? It's usually milder and later with each pregnancy. But yeah, might be worth jacking in work early and chilling out a bit between getting your BP taken all the time...

@Stroan My nesting hormones are firmly at the stay-in-bed stage. V impressed by the toothbrushes and radiators brigade! I think I'm still a few weeks off that point...

boodles101 · 12/08/2019 14:51

Thanks Megan that's alot of info in that leaflet. I thought I would get one but I literally had a letter with 2 dates on it.

TheCraicDealer · 12/08/2019 14:57

Yeah I've had a few spider veins on my legs for a while- "the throbber" is one that's got worse, IVEgottheDECAF 😩 I've learnt my lesson about googling medical stuff, but basically I don't think they go without treatment, Kyle. I have private healthcare through work I've never used, and if this one gets any bigger I might see if I can get a referral once baby arrives.

Florencenotflo · 12/08/2019 15:46

@kyles101 my legs were ruined by spider veins when I was pregnant with dd. They've got worse this time. I have the legs of an 80 year old. And the nhs won't 'fix' varicose veins unless they are really bad because it's classed as cosmetic 🙄 I didn't think I was a vain person but I would consider paying to have them done in a few years time.

Ooo got the aldi baby event leaflet and there some nice bits in there! Will def have to pop in thursday

BBell2 · 12/08/2019 18:16

@challengeyourreality DH is nesting, but his enthusiasms are misplaced...came home after 6hrs having a lovely but tiring day and hes varnished the decking. Looks fab...but I'll be 36-37 the next time we could possibly paint.

My MW appt was nearly a disaster, another new one and they can never access the systems, she had no idea who I was or how long me and DD had been waiting. We did agree to ignore the consultants note that I must be measured plus scans...if you are so small on the chart it prompts yet another scan (I already go bi-weekly) and a conversation about early induction.

challengeyourreality · 12/08/2019 19:23

@Dyra I am the same! I desperately want a tidy and clean house but usually prioritise everything else over non-essential cleaning jobs so having been mega nesting for a few days now. Have accomplished so much too - who knew the beauty of a wire brush! DH had one for the BBQ and I tried it in the bathroom on the tiles and limescale on the shower door and it has worked wonders. Everything is like new, I am so pleased.
@Moraxella we went for a Bugaboo Buffalo, I'll attach a photo of the edition we picked. What did you go for? Would love to see pics of other pram choices

So jealous of all the lovely prams. I hate mine (Silver Cross Pioneer). Not so much the actual pram, but I bought a red colour pack when I was pregnant last year. I didn't want to use it this time around, daft I know, but I bought it for the baby I lost. Anyway, DH got the chassis out the other day and has cleaned it all, he got the carrycot out and cleaned it all too. He's put the red hood and apron on it. The beige one we had for Dd (which is boring but I can tolerate) is now back in the loft. I can't find another hood and apron for less that £100 which I can't afford. The red one was £15 in a sale on the silver cross website.

Sorry for rambling, wish I could afford a new pram! There are some lovely ones out there!

Hey everyone, thesis whisky2014..having to use this username now.

@kyles101 yes I see a varicose being at the back of my knee. Do they go away?

I also thought I was getting away with stretch marks but alas, no. I have a ciuple on my love handles and also a fair few on my inner thighs :(

My sleep is all to pot but I think that's more to Do with the fact because I'm now not working I'm kind of having long lies and so not tired at my usual bed time. I also stayed up all night reading a book.

I'm deffo nesting now, spending a lot of time cleaning and throwing stuff out.

We've just had to return our 2nd car so now dh has mine and so I'm now stuck in the village with no transport. Luckily my mum is retired so she's been popping in to see me. I also had a home visit with midwife and a neighbour came round to tell me about her home birth experience. But once I don't see anyone for a day or 2 I start feeling a bit down and lonely.

Moraxella · 12/08/2019 19:47

Nice colour!!! I’ve got this: www.icandyworld.com/uk/en/raspberry-chrome-kings-road-khaki.html#fo_c=1462&fo_k=c50d31bfb186ee8c6519dccbef6fb208&fo_s=gplauk?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4aSGyv394wIVlIjVCh1WWA5NEAQYAiABEgKmAPD_BwE

I had MRSA, and decolonised and have to be retested next week 😎

TheCraicDealer · 12/08/2019 19:50

This is what we got- we didn't quite pay that much and we did get the car seat free, but it was not the cheapest purchase! The nursery store are going to build it and all, we just need to decide when to collect it- when does everyone tend to get stuff like that? I'm not normally superstitious but collecting the pram feels like A Big Deal.

Bonus pics- artwork for Craic Baby's room from Etsy! Love them, can't wait for them to arrive Smile

Oh yeh and I have one very sore left shoulder. Think it must be the way in sleeping. And I keep waking up with my hand in agony, almost as if it has arthritis. It's like my fingers are aching and I need to stretch them out.

Also, need to organise a birth pool :/

TheCraicDealer · 12/08/2019 19:53

We were looking at the raspberry @Moraxella- it's a really lovely pram, DH really liked it and you might avoid avoid the "FML I'm just buying a umbrella stroller" stage with something compact and easy to use like that which was my plan. Unfortunately I got seduced by the tank-like Fox because I am an idiot.

Moraxella · 12/08/2019 19:53

@Florencenotflo hopefully this link works (scroll down) is this the kind of thing? £35 and a few diff colours (a bit better than 100 but still another outlay) www.silvercrossbaby.com/search/?query=Pioneer

boodles101 · 12/08/2019 19:57

Growth scan done. Girl is estimated 4lb 15 and boy is 5lb 15, so I have just under 11lbs of baby in my petite size 8 frame 😆
Girl has gone from 50th centile down to 10th so they had urgent call with the consultant who said to give me the steroid injection, 2nd one due tomorrow and they will more than likely bring the csection date forward now. I also had the MRSA screening which basically I just had to swab my nostril and another swab in my groin.
Finally managed to see one of their faces, they have been very stubborn at every scan before now, so this is twin 2 - boy sucking his thumb! 😍 Shit just got very real for me.

@craic I’d love a fox but can’t bring myself to part with the cash, they’re dreamy though and I would love one still!!! The John Lewis lady told us lots of people come back for something light in a year or so so we plumped for the raspberry in the (possibly vain) hope we will need one pram only (and it needs to do public transport)!! It’s ex display, it’s also in my lounge hidden under stuff; i’ve heard the superstition and got scared!

challengeyourreality · 12/08/2019 20:03

Thanks for sharing the prams, I love seeing what style and colours you all go for.
@TheCraicDealer those are nice prints, do you have an animal theme going on in the bedroom?
@Florencenotflo sorry about your association with the colour, is there any way you could reassociate it with something that will make you like it again?

challengeyourreality · 12/08/2019 20:10

Ooh i haven't heard the superstition but i can imagine what it might be. Thankfully I manage to not out too much weight on what superstitions say anymore.
@TheCraicDealer I like the fox very much, it will keep it's value somewhat for reselling too so a good investment

BBell2 · 12/08/2019 20:14

@Florencenotflo I have a silver cross fold up with newborn pack, I got the pack off Facebook marketplace. It might not be the same type of pack, but there were plenty for sale new it was about 100 too. Would be nice to have something you feel good about.

@boodles101 you must be so uncomfy I'm pleased for you having your section pulled thoee babies sound such good weights!
