Morning all. Really not feeling work this morning, woke up at 3.30 with terrible heartburn then had to get up at 6 to make my way in for an 8.30 Skype meeting, and won’t be home until 7.30/8pm this evening. Missed last Friday because I was in for monitoring, so my to do list is enormous and I just don’t care any more!

Glad you’re back in the country Moraxella.

It’s going to be so nice to start seeing some of the babies come this week Smile.

Florencenotflo · 12/08/2019 07:42

I think it's worse this time @happydays00 I had a brilliant time when I was pregnant with dd. So this kind of feels like pay back for being so smug last time! Dd was born at 40+11 and I honestly felt great, was sleeping well, none of the crap I've had this time 😂

But there is something very cruel about depriving someone of sleep for weeks before they have a tiny human to look after for months on end with very little sleep!

Morning all

Fanny daggers stopped once i was in bed thank fully. Think i slept about 11-4 when i woke for a wee and literally could do move my legs. Frozen in pain. I then nearly fell on the landing on my way to the loo. Think i may be needing crutches as it felt dangerous Sad

Small two dc slept til 7, big two still sleeping.

We transitioned dc4 to the toddler bed a few months ago because he started climbing out of the cot! He likes his bed so that is good. I dont think he understands we are getting a baby at all though.

Mw later today

36+4

@Stroan I also polished my towel rails this weekend! I just had this overwhelming need to make them shine!

Last week at work here, finally. I'm ready for the day time naps!

Had lower back ache and period pains all weekend, on and off. Wondering if this baby will make an appearance sooner than planned like the consultant said 😬

kyles101 · 12/08/2019 08:14

Just my four legged first born @sarahelizabeth99 ... and my man child dh 🙄 boobs are so on and off for me... currently fine. Lower back was giving me some problem but think it must have been baby in a funny position as that's eased off now too.

@challengeyourreality well done on the pram. Not so well done on dh family. Where exactly are you supposed to grow a human baby? Why people comment is beyond me. Most at wedding had heard that we're having "a big baby" through dh family gossip grapevine so were thrilled to repeat that back to me, just in case i wasn't aware 🙄 my friend at the christening said I don't look very big though, I could have kissed her!

@Stroan even if I somehow get to 2 weeks overdue I don't think I'll get round to polishing the towel rails with a toothbrush!

Off to look round first choice nursery in a bit, it's in the town where I work so a 40 min ish drive away. Why did I book this for the morning of my first day of mat leave? Eugh, oh well, off to do that, then some washing, kitchen tidy, nap, walk the dog then put dinner on. That seems like a reasonably productive non taxing first mat leave day.

Florencenotflo · 12/08/2019 08:50

Sounds like a busy day to me @kyles101 😂

I had a day like that yesterday, I got so much done. Dd was out with the in laws so my productivity goes up when I'm not doing damage control.

There is a folk festival in a nearby town at the moment so we are off there today. Quite a bit of walking involved because you can never park nearby, I wasn't keen and did say to DH about me staying at home while he takes Dd. He then reminded me that they have an amazing fudge stall there in the craft market and if I come I can buy as much fudge, peanut brittle and coconut ice as I want. Currently getting dressed as we speak 🐷🐷🐷

@happydays00 ah that's reassuring to hear, thanks. I'm seeing the midwife on Friday anyway so think I'll probably just mention it then, and maybe get my hospital bag packed just in case! I'm meant to be having an elective section for medical reasons so labour would be a little complicated but best to be prepared!

@IVEgottheDECAF How old is your youngest? My DD is 2 and I don't think she has a clue what's coming 🙈

IVEgottheDECAF · 12/08/2019 09:36

Littlehouse he is 2, 3 in October. But hes quite young for his age!

Dyra · 12/08/2019 10:50

Morning all. Nesting instinct is finally kicking in for me as well. All I can see is mess and dust everywhere. 😭 Never been the most houseproud person, so there's a lot to do.

kyles101 · 12/08/2019 11:13

@Dyra I love my house looking tidy, I just don't like doing it 😂 we used to have a cleaner but when she left I never quite got round to replacing her and then found out I was pregnant so seemed pointless taking someone on for just a few months until I was off. I've have less than usual motivation the last few weeks whilst juggling work and life so it's going to take some getting back into reasonable order!!

My dh has caught the being a knob disease - just snapped at me on the phone coz he's stressed, now ordinarily fine, but it's over nothing and the reason he's stressing about it is because he smoked at the weekend coz he was drinking, so now obviously he's withdrawing again so I'll have a couple of days of him being an arse. Fun.

Nursery was lovely, there were some kids arriving and they couldn't wait to get in, and others were really confident and were interacting with me whilst we walked around which was nice to see. Lots of messy and outdoor play was encouraged.

boodles101 · 12/08/2019 11:27

Awful night again last night, I literally cannot lay any way that is remotely comfortable. DS at nursery today so went back to bed for a bit, but my neighbour has builders in banging around 😣.
I also just received a letter for my csection date, letter dated over 2 weeks ago and it says about contacting maternity day care to arrange MRSA screening at least 3 weeks before. Did you have to do this happydays stroan?
Growth scan this afternoon, excited to find out what size they are now.

Stroan · 12/08/2019 11:38

@boodles101 no, that hasn't been mentioned. Mine was booked less than two weeks in advance as well.

Do you see a midwife or consultant after the growth scan?

boodles101 · 12/08/2019 11:43

stroan yes I'll see the midwife after so can ask then. Also just realised they put 11am on my csection date! Clearly not too worried about getting them done with early or making us fast!

TheCraicDealer · 12/08/2019 12:05

Sorry to hear so many people struggling with sleep- I've been alright, touch wood. Although that might be due to the fact that I have absconded to the spare room over the last week to escape DH's snoring. Sleeping far too lightly atm to stand it, and to be fair I and the pregnancy pillow are taking up a lot of space!

Made DH help me blitz our bedroom yesterday which has made me feel better, and he seems to have finally got that we need to do a big clean of the house generally before baby arrives. Keeping on top of his clutter will make that easier, but he is the very essence of Half a Job Bob Hmm just fucking put it away/in the wash/in the dishwasher when you're finished!!! He tries to tell me that I "tidy but don't clean"- it enrages me to hear a man who kept dirty cutlery in a empty detergent box for 4 or more weeks at a time before doing dishes tell me that I have low standards.

Anyway, have started on the raspberry leaf tea and been trying to do some vadge exercises. I keep thinking I've got ages to go, but was googling "baby born at 33w" last week and they were like proper FT babies. Then I realised "shit, i have to get one of those out" Grin

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 12/08/2019 12:07

Hello all - not posted in a couple of days as been busy with DH’s birthday and PILs down to stay. Saw my midwife this morning and think I’m starting to see the return of my gestational hypertension/pre-eclampsia (bp was 132/90 at my appointment - which is only slightly higher than my booking in bp but higher than it’s been recently). They’ve taken some bloods to check for other issues but I’m just feeling so downhearted, really wanted the end of this pregnancy to go differently to last time, but my body seems to have different ideas. Am 35 weeks today and was really desperate to get to 38 at least, ho hum. Got two weeks left at work but thinking of packing up end of this one now.

Wishing @happydays00 and @Stroan all the very best for your deliveries this week.

Megan2018 · 12/08/2019 12:11

At the risk of massively jinxing things I think my GD is getting easier to control! Now 35+4

Readings much more level despite a few things that previously set me off - hope this lasts! I am going to have some cake this week - bringing a stash in for my last day for colleagues and going to indulge. Not had anything like that since diagnosis so bugger it. Will make sure meals either side are very good. I won't go mad but I need a slice of lemon drizzle in my life.

happydays00 · 12/08/2019 12:25

@boodles101 no one has mentioned that to me either. Off to google MRSA screening now....

Megan2018 · 12/08/2019 12:30

@stroan @boodles101 @happydays00 even though I’m not (yet) scheduled a section the MW gave me a leaflet on MRSA screening before a section at booking in. Also said something about not being able to shave/wax bikini area! Isn’t it crackers how inconsistent the advice/info is!!

IVEgottheDECAF · 12/08/2019 12:34

Mw app wasnt the best, they were running behind and mw i had been seeing was off and cover one seemed a bit clueless. Mentioned spd struggles and she just told me to self refer back to physio....theyre never gonna see me before i bloody have my baby! The wait last time was 3 months long. I may have a water infection so sample had been sent off. Growth now down to 90th percentile from quite far above 95th a couple of appointments ago but she thinks this is fine. Normal mw had said she thought was due to baby engaging but apparently the head is now back to being completely free so i have no clue. Being seen next week again anyway Hmm

Stroan · 12/08/2019 12:35

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri that's not so good, fingers crossed the tests come back clear and you have a calmer experience this time.

@megan2018 that can start to happen around 36 weeks so sounds good. Happened for me at 32, which was not quite so good. One slice of lemon drizzle is not going to hurt at this stage either! I'm being ridiculously cautious this week as I have to work round two days of "diabetic" hospital food. DD was born sleepy, puffy and swollen as my blood sugars had gone a bit bonkers during induction. I'm so desperate to avoid that but intend to eat a million carbs as soon as he is born!

My nesting instinct has turned into "lie on the bed" instinct.

easterbuns1 · 12/08/2019 13:07

@boodles101 when I started nursing my trust used to triple swab everyone who was admitted to hospital, by the time I took my break they had stopped because so many people carry it anyways. So it varies from trust to trust and I would imagine on personal circumstances.

sarahelizabeth99 · 12/08/2019 13:18

@Megan2018 @Stroan hope I’m not being a nosey newbie! Saw from your messages you have GD? I have it as well. How have you been getting on? Are you having an induction?

kyles101 · 12/08/2019 13:25

@Megan2018 I've got ingredients coming tonight to make Keto lemon drizzle - can't actually wait - I'm waiting for mine to ease off - not eased enough for a scone yesterday 😂 whoops! Although that's been my one naughty since last weekends blip so hopefully it's enough to keep them happy!

Stroan · 12/08/2019 13:53

@sarahelizabeth99 not nosy at all. I'm having a C-section on Friday. ELCS due to my birth with my DD and its at 37+2 because my blood sugars have been really low since 32 weeks and it makes me feel pretty grim.

How are you doing with it?
