Due March 2008 - another teeny tiny thread for dial ups and mobiles

Welcome. It seems that when we get to over 400 hundred posts then dial ups and mobiles can't handle loading the threads well. Sweetkitty, I hope this helps. xx

Hi everyone,

it's been super quiet here the last while. probably we're all too tired for much posting.

holidayqueen, you made me feel so guilty with your post. my dh has been doing loads of DIY too but also making the dinner in the evening as I basically come home from work and collapse with tiredness and nausea. I really must do better and try to pull my weight a bit more.

3madboys, I am so looking forward to end of first trimester. I'm afraid my expectations may be too high. I'm imagining trimester 2 to be one long high-energy party of maximum productivity and usefulness.

BrazilianMum, I had a great untired day on Friday and decided that my T1 symptoms had come to an end. Then along came saturday... I'm sure the jetlag isn't helping in your case, it throws the whole system out (well it does to me anyway) and you've (probably) gone the bad way (west to east). I hope you'll be able to relax a bit when you get back.

hi everyone, bt took over our line from our provider by mistake cutting off our internet! so i have been very unhappy with them, i am at the library catching up on email and so thought i would post quickly to say im still about and will hopefully be back properly soon.

i dont have a booking appointmet until 13/9 as my midwife is away but have my 12 week nuchal scan 7/9, as i went to the hosp yesterday and booked that. I thought the hosp where the do the scans was walking distance (we moved here in feb) but realised half way there it really isnt as its all uphill, so i was very tired last night and dd plyed up at bedtime to make things worse.

skidoodle - didn't want to make you feel bad! dinner involved putting two potatoes and some mange tout in the microwave and two steaks in a frying pan so it wasn't really haute cuisine! serving it with a jar of mustard on the table was as exotic as it got. and that reminds me, i only did dinner cos dh had also been to the supermarket and done all the shopping as well so he even told me what to cook... he really is being very good! it's his 30th party with friends on saturday and i'm going to try and work up enough energy to make a cake to say thank you although i may only end up with enough energy to walk to the bakers and buy one instead

no worries holidayqueen, I'm such a lazy lump at the moment I'm starting to feel kind of useless.

if you tap into the March 08 spirit it may inspire you to make that cake. although perhaps last week was cake week and this week is extra sleep week.

Today is 2 months since we got married. DH e-mailed me at work to say we should celebrate by having a nice sleep

more like sleeping for me and plastering for him

g'night all.

Hands up, another lazy lump here! I keep collapsing on the sofa in a heap and watch poor DH doing everything through one half-open eye. Poor thing is being so good.

I've had a hectic 3 days driving all over the countryside. Sunday was in Kent, Monday in Oxford, yesterday goodness-knows-where at some petting farm, so that's 3-4 hours driving each day plus a full day out. I'm so tired I don't know what to do with myself. I'm at work today but expect I may be mostly useless. I need a nap and it's only 9am!!

Is anyone else getting the combined nuchal scan plus blood test? Apparently it's the new standard here and by combining the two tests they get a much more accurate probability for Down's. I think our local NHS is pretty good for being up-to-date with the latest stuff.

Morning folks,

Have just read Connor's thread - makes me feel a wimp tbh. Hope she got the zofran -it's the best anti-emetic I know of.

Am trying to have a busy, productive day today, tho am so tired and sicky that I really just want to go back to bed. I keep looking forward to the next trimester - I too have this magical idea that it will be a time of immense energy and feeling fab....

Merry - didn't have any issues with ds's birth really, just think it's an automatic thing here to have consultant care after previous c/s. Don't know if it will be the same consultant tho - continuity of nhs care not exactly great, as your awful time with your labour shows. Hope you get better care this time (enjoy the holiday btw).

Anyhow, off to enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. Take care of yourselves .

Hello everybody,
I am also feeling absolutely exhausted this week, but I'm getting off lightly compared with some as I have no ms.
The medical appointments are coming through thick and fast. I have my booking-in appointment with the midwife this Friday at home and my dating scan on 10 September.
Derah - I'm planning to have the nuchal scan and bloodtest. My local NHS hospital doesn't offer it though so I have to go private. I'm trying to decide between the Fetal Medicine Centre in London or my local private hospital at the moment. The FMC is meant to be one of the top places to have it done, but the question is can I really face the trip up to London at the moment...?
Let's hope we all feel a bit livelier soon!

Hi Everyone (I imagine you all doing exhausted "hi" grunts back) Also feeling sick and tired.

I am trying to remember if I felt better in semester 2 when pg with DD but to be honest I think it was just easier because I could tell people. I was in bed by 9.30pm and could not eat after 6pm for the entire pregnancy.

I have booked a private scan for the Downs testing - combined test of scan and blood test. But we also have an early viability scan on the NHS next Monday.

Love to all x

Wow, looks like I'm really lucky to be getting the combined blood and nucal scan on the NHS then! Perhaps I should stop complaining about our local trust....

i know someone else getting the nuchal scan etc on the nhs, it seems to be a postcode lottery

i saw the midwife yesterday, and she now doesnt want to see me again till i am 18wks preg, is anyone else experiencing this? it seems that as i am an 'old hand' at the preg lark they arent interested in seeing you.

still tired but slightly less pukey which is good

3MB - I'm only on my 2nd so not sure about 4th(!!!) but the mw did say she'll only be seeing me about half as often until the end (when it's back to every 1/2 weeks) this time around.

Oh man, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tired today! I just fell asleep at my bench in the lab. If I still worked at Pirbright, I'd probably suspect myself for the F&M outbreak, I'm so dozy at the moment!! I'm going to gobble down my sandwich and then put my head down for half an hour....

hi all, how are you
I had my booking-in appt with my midwife yestd. and she organised a joint dating and nuchal scan for me for week 11 and she'll do my blood tests the day after. Last time (3 years ago) the nuchal scan was private, but she said the nhs have since moved the dating scan till later so they could combine it with the nuchal. I too won't see my midwife now until then as I'm 'multiparous' apparently, which doesn't, despite how I feel, mean full of holes.
Starting to get the ms now, just a general feeling of going to feel sick in a minute if you know what I mean. I wish I felt confident enough to tell work as I mope around doing a quarter of a days work. (not as bad as it sounds as I only work half days anyway!)And personal reviews are coming up so god knows what they'll say to me.

Right, I feel so totally rubbish today that I'm off home early. I figure if I don't get some rest I'll feel even more crap tomorrow so better to take a couple of hours off today.

DD will be plonked in front of CBeebies all afternoon! ;)

Hi all!

Sorry everyone's feeling so sick and tired .. I slept for 11 hours last night so am feeling a little more human. But, far more excitingly than that- I had my first scan today! We needed to have an early one to establish dates, so went in this morning and ... it was absolutely, genuinely amazing. We saw a heartbeat and everything. Wow. Looks like I'm eight weeks, and due on March 20. It makes everything feel so much more real!

Back at work now, and trying to focus on what I'm doing (and failing )

Derah: I'm having to pay for combined nuchal translucency done by an obstetrician who specialises in fetal medicine and he's also qualified to look at the nasal bone which apparently is the latest research in Downs screening - this is £125. I get the ADDmark blood test which is a postal blood service in Leeds and looks at 4 markers and this is £100!!!! Thought that was quite dear but it has an amazingly high accuracy rate when combined with the nuchal.

Love&Sq: that's wonderful!

Derah: you are so lucky to get nuchal on NHS! We do slate the NHS but some areas really are good aren't they.

I've got dating scan on 4 September now and so looking forward to that, and m/w on Monday next week.

Hope you're all enjoying the heatwave!

yay Studentmum, that's good news!

Weird how everyone pays the same (proportionally!) for the NHS but the service varies so widely, isn't it. Guess I'm lucky to be in a good spot.

Feeling better for my early day at work. I got home, put CBeebies on and got all DD's toys out and left her to it while I semi-napped on the sofa. Every now and then she decided I shouldn't be sleeping and launched herself across the room to jump on me! Still planning a very early night though....

HI! Haven't been on for a bit. Been away and been VERY emotional, actually started shouting at my DP this morning in the park . He wasn't very plaesed but thank god is quite tolerant. Also was crying at him this morning too coz he said something to do with being pregnant...! Hormones I guess!Am also rather off sex at the moment, it makes me feel nauseous, along with travelling, shopping, any kind of dirt, most smells, oh my god!
Had my scan date through - scan before seeing the midwife! 6th Sept, MW on 14th.
Oh P.S Brazilian MUM, I didn't know what all the DP stuff meant either for ages but I discovered a little bit at the top of the screen near where it says new threads etc, which says ACROYNM list - they are all on there and there is loads of them!

P.S best to everyone else!

Hello!

New to all of this and but just read the thread from the beginning thought I'd take the plunge and you all sound lovely!

Due 22nd March and haven't told a soul yet apart from DH(too scared as had a m/c in April) but non-drinking excuses are getting a bit thin on the ground!

First time mum....really worried as symtoms come and go = no sickness, only tender boobs. Nice to read you guys feel the same way too....how reassuring is this site!

hi all and welcome tallmother!

okay, I was half complaining that I had no symptoms as I didn't feel pregnant. Today I feel wretched. nausea all yesterday and today from waking up till bed time - its the first real "morning" sickness I've had and I'm now 9 weeks! Wierd. Knackered too.
Send lovely, sweet, tolerant DH off to fish and chip shop - not exactly nutrition buts its the only thing I can stomach. Actually, I really fancy a risotto, but its a bit much to insist my DH makes me a risotto from scratch at 8pm on a work night! He is being amazing at the moment. We are midway through renovating a house, and its a BIG project. House is an absolute mess at all times given the amount of work we're doing, which isn't ideal, but at least we have a deadline to complete it all! DH is putting in all hours on the house to try and speed it along bless him.

Anyway - took the afternoon off work yesterday to travel up north to see my mum to tell her the good news. She cried, I cried, it was very emotional. First grandchild so she is very excited. Although she did end up telling me all about her birth stories, which I didn't really need right now....

Brazilian mum - I don't know what hospital I'm in yet, I haven't had any appts, but I think my options are Kings College at Denmark Hill or Farnham in Kent. Don't think lewisham is an option but I may be wrong. hope you got back from HKong okay and the jetlag passed!

Right, fish and chips are here then I think its an early night for me. Lovely to hear all of you getting your scan dates and great news from studentmum - I'm so pleased to hear that studentmum! Take care all of you, we all seem to be hitting a really bleurgh phase, but you know, its going to pass before we know it - lets not always wish the time away until we hit trimester 2!

Hello!

Derah - I also get the nuchal scan along with bloods through our local hospital (not that I knew what the nuchal scan was at first...), it's only through MN that I've realised it's not always the case. I've got my bloods on the 1st Sep and scan on the 4th Sep, still seems like ages away!

Love and Squalor - that's great news, must have been fab to see the heartbeat

Studentmum - really glad to hear your second scan went well, we had our fingers crossed for you x

Tallmother - Hello and welcome!

I'm another one who has had no symptoms up until now (8 weeks) except for sore boobs, and over the last day or so haven't exactly felt queasy, but somehow not quite right. I usually love stir frys and could eat them every night but have totally gone off the idea of them, and seem to just be wanting stodgy, carbohydrates (a bag of chips with loads of vinegar would go down a treat right now...)
