Due March 2008 - another teeny tiny thread for dial ups and mobiles

Welcome. It seems that when we get to over 400 hundred posts then dial ups and mobiles can't handle loading the threads well. Sweetkitty, I hope this helps. xx

frankerooney...when you're lying on the sofa with the climbing kids, here are some suggestions: Play hospital. You are very ill and they need to bring you treats and look after you. Play hairdressers...it hurts when they pull your hair, but they won't climb on you!

Derah...I'm in Carshalton, near Sutton. Not too far away!

I have had 24 hours of thinking about nothing but tzatziki. Have eaten 3 pots of it, and feeling a bit unwell but satisfied.

Has everyone had a good weekend? The bits I was awake for looked very sunny!

Hey ladies

I just found out from this post by ConnorTraceptive that she's very unwell and in hospital with hyperemesis. Things sound pretty rough for her so it might be nice if some of us popped by to offer her support.

turtle23 thanks for the tips. I was thinking of getting ds a doctors kit - could be a good way for him to gently watch mummys tummy growing!

I really want some coco pops... my cravings are definitely worse on a sunday evening when tescos is shut (how dare they!)

I posted before I read derah's post about connortraceptive - yikes, I didnt even know what hyperemesis was, poor thing...

Read derah's post about ConnorTraceptive...poor thing. What a nightmare! This is my 2nd pregnancy and (touch wood)I have only suffered very slight nausea with both (still time for that to change though).
Like the rest of you tho am very tired and for some reason pregnancy turns me into a zit monster....thought I was meant to glow????
Got to contact the dr this morning to make an appointment with the midwife.

well how did everyone's weekend go? i told my parents, cue "i don't know how you think you'll manage dear" and "i hope you aren't expecting us to up sticks and move closer" anyone would think i was a nasa astronaut the way they're talking!

Other than that i've been feeling a bit better- absolutly knackered, did some cleaning yesterday and then had to have a nap!

Never mind 3madboys. You'll do it next time, I'm sure, and you've got plenty of time before baby is due.

had a great weekend of DIY and painting! NOt only do I have no morning sickness, but I also seem to have burst of energy. All I've got that tells me I'm pregnant is sore boobs, needing the loo all the time and now, a growing pot belly! I was very worried about my lack of symptoms a few weeks ago, but I've relaxed a lot more now and am just enjoying things and taking it day by day. Still ages to my first appointment (bloody south london seems to not want to see you until you've got 12 weeks behind you), but am counting down the days till Sept 3rd, when I get my dating and nuchal scan and booking appointment all in one go!

xx

hi all, how were your weekends. now I'm finding it too damn hot and my pants officially do not fit me!
How easy is it to get hold of medical records?( mine not anyone else's!) I wanted to look at the history of my last labour as it seemed to go to hell in a handcart very fast and it's quite intimidating thinking about going through it all again. I have have my booking-in appt tomorrow so I want to ask then but I wondered if they'd be a bit funny about it?

Had a viability scan this afternoon. Hurrah! Heartbeat and everything! Never been so relieved in all my life.
Yardette...whereabouts are you? I'm south London/Surrey and I haven't even been told when I'm allowed a booking-in/scan,etc.

Hi everyone,

feeling more sick the last few days, still tired but possibly less so.

I'm eating more too, think it's related to the being sicker.

hope you guys are all well.

hi all. Turtle - fab news - thats fantastic you saw the heartbeat! I'm in south east london (borough of bromley) so nowhere near surrey. i think most areas in london make you wait until 12 weeks before you get booked in.

Dayinthelife - you are absolutely entitled to your medical records, and you don't have to have any reason for wanting access. I'm a lawyer and know about this area of law. If they get funny about it, say that you have a right to access under data protection laws and you're prepared to pay £10 to gain subject access if need be.

Well, I've got tomorrow afternoon off work, and I'm shlepping up to the north to see my mum to tell her our news! She lives miles from us, but I decided to wait until I could tell her in person rather than over the phone. Problem was that she and I had no weekends free in the next few weeks, so I decided to pretend I have a meeting in the north, and take an afternoon off to go and see her! I've bought a very cute little babygro (the last thing I will buy for a few months I hasten to add) which says "I love my grandma" which I've wrapped up, and put on the gift tag "you'll have to wait a few months until the main present arrives, but here's a little clue...". I'm crying even writing this to you guys - I'm going to be a mess tomorrow!!
(incidentally, my hormones have gone crazy. Crying over the slightest thing!!)

see you all in a few days after I've told my mum!
xx

We don't get booked in till 10 weeks down here in Llanelli, S Wales. KInda frustrating as I'm not entirely sure whether I'm 6 weeks or more. My cycle is so random I could be anywhere between the 2. Maybe should speak to the Dr to get a dating scan done

Hi Yardette - You made me cry. Hurry back and tells us how it went with your mum. Also I am in Hither Green so not far from you. Will you be at Lewisham hospital?

After a few days of thinking my ms was going away for good, I'm 11 weeks now, it is back with a vengeance today. I feel soooo sick and don't know what to do, had a big breakfast at the hotel, I'm away in Hong Kong with work, and I'm now in the office but seriously contemplating going back and sleeping.

It may not all be ms as I am seriously jetlagged. Just want this week to go quick and then I can go back home to dp and doggie.

I wanted to ask about the nuchal scan, is it something I need to request or do they do it as standard?

Report
HolidaysQueen · 07/08/2007 08:49

Hi Brazilianmum -
Hope you manage to get well enough to enjoy some of HK before you come home as it's such a fab place. I think with the nuchal scan that it slightly depends on your area - in mine it seems that they give it as standard if you are over 35 but you have to go private if you aren't. It might be worth doing a search for your local PCT (primary care trust) or hospital on the web as you might be able to find out more about their maternity policies on there.

I had a lovely weekend away in Norfolk to celebrate my dh's 30th birthday although I spent most of it asleep on the beach! Then last night I got home from work at 6.30 feeling rotten - managed to cook dinner (dh was doing loads of DIY so felt I at least had to do that) and then passed out at 8.30 and only woke briefly to climb into bed at 10. Next thing I knew it was 7am and when I got up found that dh had done all the tidying, washing up, laundry, DIY and even rearranged our dining room. I felt v. guilty, but then I guess the tiredness is cos my body is actually doing some pretty hard work at the moment too
I'm working from home today which is fab as I can wear slobby clothes and sit on the sofa while reading my emails!

Thanks HQ, had a look at the Lewisham hospital web but it wasn't very helpful, so I rang them and they confirmed that my scan on 20 Aug is also my nuchal scan. One less thing to worry about.

Hong Kong is great and I was here a couple of weeks ago and did lot's of shopping. They have a great baby shop with some really cool stuff and not too expensive. Makes Mothercare look so boring. They also had a Baby exhibition but I decided not to venture the crowds.

Talking about baby exhibition. Is anyone going to the the in Earls Court in October? I am getting some tickets but not sure what day I will go yet. Has anyone been before? here is the link www.thebabyshow.co.uk/

Poor Connortraceptive, it sounds absolutely horrible..

Makes me realise how lucky I am to still be having no ms. I'm 8 weeks today (I think) and I've definitely started to notice that I'm more bloated, especially in the evening. Then again, it could just be down to the fact I'm eating everything in sight!

Working from home today too, and counting down the days till I go on holiday next week

Hope everyone is feeling good, and having a good day.

OOh I feel so jealous, I lived in Hong Kong for 3 years and I still miss the place. Mind you, this time of year, the weather can't be nice if you're not well.
How accurate are nuchal scans? I think my area only does them privately and I've been umming and aahing about getting one, just to reassure myself that a: I am pregnant ( not just pot-bellied) and b: that everything is alright. what week do you have them at?
I know you're not there but thank you for the advice yardette. good way of anouncing the news , I just kind of squealed it down the phone at my mum.

3madboys · 07/08/2007 13:07

i think nuchal scans are meant to be quite accurate? you get them done between 11 and 13 wks of preg roughly? if you want some info i would google the fetal medicine centre, they are specialist ihad a scan with ds3 there, this time i am having it done at my local hospital.

ten weeks now, see the midwife for the first time this afternoon and then scan in ten days

still tired and sick, hope everyone is well, looking forward to getting to the end of the fist trimester

anyone heard of the intelligender test? am very tempted as its not too expensive! certainly wouldn't pay 240 quid for the dna blood test one!!

Report
3madboys · 07/08/2007 16:01

nope not heard of that one.

i saw the midwife this afternoon, it was basically just a form filling in session, i cant believe the amount of paperwork, other than that she just weighed me and took my blood pressure, which is low, that would be why i have been fainting then

and she doesnt want to see me again till i am 18wks, which seems like a long time away, i am ten weeks currently.

i think its cos its my fourth preg, they consider you an 'old hand' so dont need to see you very often, i am not sure if this is a good or a bad thing.

preggersagain · 07/08/2007 16:24

couldn't resist- i think it's a bit of a bargain really- only 22.74 inc shipping- its just a bit of fun but we'll see if its gonna be right!
