Due March 2008 - another teeny tiny thread for dial ups and mobiles

merryberry · 03/08/2007 08:49

Welcome. It seems that when we get to over 400 hundred posts then dial ups and mobiles can't handle loading the threads well. Sweetkitty, I hope this helps. xx

Merry - I don't see my midwife again until November, but I do have to go to the local hospital and endure the endless wait at ANC for scans, bloods etc in the meantime. Apparently, because I had a crash c/s with ds, I have to have consultant and not m/w led care. Not convinced that that will necessarily mean better care - just more prodding and poking imo.

With ds, I always tried to get the first appointment of the clinic/scan session (thinks most people do tbh) to minimise the hanging around. I had not even considered going down the private route. How does that work then? Is it prohibitively expensive, like those 3d baby scan thingys? Anyone thinking of that by the way? Way too expensive for me, but think its lovely nonetheless.

Have a good weekend everyone

WinkyGirl · 03/08/2007 20:07

Prune Juice [vomit emoticon] Wendy you have my respect if you can drink that stuff!!! I forced myself to for awhile when I was pg with DD and now even the thought of it makes me gag.
I am so constipated though, it isnt funny!

Other than that I sympthasize with everyone's disappearing and reappearing symptoms.

Happy weekend everyone

winemakesmummyclever · 03/08/2007 20:14

imjin & skids - really want ...wait, make that need fish and chips now

turtle23 · 03/08/2007 20:22

Private scans seem to be averaging at £100. A lot of money in some ways, but at this point anything that could possibly make me less mad and paranoid is priceless!

skidoodle · 03/08/2007 20:44

i guess I'm spending all my scan money on take-out sandwiches. normally make my own but have totally gone off hoummous (except with breadsticks weirdly) and now buying shop sandwiches, which I normally consider a total waste of money and pretty unhealthy. It's the old "if it keeps me sane..." thing.

ha ha wmmc so funny when we get contagious cravings on this thread. the chocolate raisins was hilarious. didn't work for me though as I hate dried fruit. If I get constipated I have no idea what I'll do. I've never had prune juice and then very thought of it makes me gag. even when not pg.

frankerooney · 03/08/2007 20:53

I didn't get constipated when I was pregnant with my ds and I didn't have cravings until I was breast feeding. Then I craved bara brith, muesli and at least half a big bar of fruit & nut choc (that had to be from Netto) every day. All those things have dried fruit in - I reckon it's the energy you get from it.

timmyinatizzy · 03/08/2007 21:07

Did someone mention chocolate raisins?

merryberry · 03/08/2007 21:44

Independent midwife, wendy, because the staffing in my bit of central/north london is at an all time crisis, and i'm really not willing to put up with the shite i went through last time (22 different people in the 1st 48 hours which is when we stopped counting, who were mostly disagreeing with each other about little things like whether they should have induced me or not)

its quite frightening really, i'm afraid i know the nhs too well from various work scenarios. so i am thinking of wasting shedlaods of cash on hiring a private firm instead. so i can have someone who actually has time to ask how i am unlike wednesday's booking appointment. and can remember my name. that would be nice. people say 'oh but as long as you have a healthy baby at the end, that's all that matters'. but it's a) not all that matters, i should be able to have confidence in those around me without having to spend so much valuable effort managing them and b) last time round the bad care led to a severely janudiced child in NICU for a week, and i had to room out of nicu at home and be driven in to demand breastfeed at night. Honestly, the stupid arses.

God I needed to get that off my chest. Sorry.

WMMC, you've quite a wait there too. Did the crash cs leave you with special issues, or do they automatically give consultant care then?

Well, i'm off on much needed holiday tomorrow am, back sunday week. i'll try and read you guys on my mobile. doubt i'll get to post tho' so hang in and may the nausea be fading with y'all.

just adding myself to the thread. will go and catch up now

wendyredhead · 03/08/2007 22:10

Merryberry: yikes, bad experience or what! Nightmare of a labour. I didn't realise some of you had it so bad. No wonder you want to go down this route - annoying you have to fork out for something that shouldn't be necessary. Good to vent though
Have a great hol!

wendyredhead · 03/08/2007 22:14

I'm SO those of you who aren't constipated....I can think of other things I'd rather be drinking than prune juice believe me. My DS said it looks like blended poo and he nearly made me gag...but it's the lesser of two evils. Cheers Winkygirl - yeah respect to me ...think I'd rather be a pukeyhead.

monthlymayhem · 04/08/2007 09:26

Morning, especially to the new mummys-to-be! I can relate to the symptomless brigade - apart from tender boobs I wouldn't know I was pg either (although am managing to eat like a horse so not sure if it's a symptom or just me taking advantage of being pg )

DH and I agreed to get up really early this morning so we could tidy the house (we have visitors for dinner this evening) and go shopping, but funnily enough I'm up and he's still snoring....just about to go and pour water on his face

Anyway, hope everyone has a good weekend.

Sweetkitty - so sorry, take care of yourself xxx

mum2ozzie · 04/08/2007 10:28

Morning, I'm new!

I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant due March 31 and have NO SYMPTOMS other than a positive test and no period! Anyone else like this? Its my second - have one son who is 14 months and felt sick as anything last time with inflated boobs from 4 weeks!!

wendyredhead · 04/08/2007 11:12

mum2Ozzie: hi there, welcome and congratulations! You are DEFINITELY the last now having beaten me and Frankerooney due on 30th to last position

Yup, took another test a couple of days ago just in case my brain was faking it! I feel totally non-pregnant too - until 2 nights ago when my boobs suddenly felt full and tender. DH has noticed too

wendyredhead · 04/08/2007 12:13

Mum2O: 6 weeks! If he'd gone full term he'd have been a big boy! My first was 2 weeks early.

Do they say if the first is early the next one will be similar or even earlier or is that not true?

mum2ozzie · 04/08/2007 13:24

I thought 2nd babies were likely to be earlier than 1st? Not sure if this only applies if 1st v late?

The midwife failed to spot that DS was too big for his dates last time round so he wasn't actually 6 weeks early but we don't know when he was actually due. But my advice to all first timers is pack your bags at 30 wks just incase.
We weren't ready at all and DS had to wear hospital issue clothes when he was born as we didn't have anything..

timmyinatizzy · 04/08/2007 22:43

Hello to all the newly found out brigade.

Well we're all packed and ready to go in the morning. Off to Butlins in Minehead with the dsd's for a week but via a day in Weston-super-mare to visit my friend who had her baby on the 23 July. Sooo excited about seeing them all. I am going to tell her about junior too, she will be so pleased for me and dp.

Hope everyone has a good week, and no fighting over the chocolate raisins HolidaysQueen!!!

LoveAndSqualor · 05/08/2007 16:09

bloody hell, merryberry - what an absolute nightmare. Out of interest, as another north londoner, can I ask which hospital? One to avoid, clearly ...

going for my first scan on wednesday morning to establish dates (I was on the pill when we conceived) and REALLY looking forward to having an idea of where we're at. Currently crossing fingers that it won't turn out I'm actually about to give birth, a la soap operas everywhere ...

MerlinsBeard · 05/08/2007 16:12

mum2ozzie, my second was 4 days late my first was 1 dat early.

second labour was faster though (well first was quick for a first labour anyway)each pg is different so there is no way of knowing properly

skidoodle · 05/08/2007 18:39

hi everyone and welcome to mum2ozzie

i've had such a nice weekend but super tired today. went surfing yesterday and it was really crowded and I freaked out a bit because I was scared of getting bashed by someone surfing into me. It was that busy. So ended up getting out early, but still had a fun time.

timmyIAT - I'm going to Butlin's in Minehead in December for a music festival. can't wait. hope you all have a good time. it's nice there.

RachelPross · 05/08/2007 19:13

Hi all, just discovered that I'm expecting my 2nd baby on approx March 30th ish. Very excited but concerned about what WMMC said about having had a crash c/s with 1st baby. I did and am hoping to go for a natural birth this time. I will fight tooth and nail to get it too!!!!!

frankerooney · 05/08/2007 19:43

Whoa! Hit 6 weeks this weekend and, same pattern as with my first baby, the overwhelming tiredness and nausea kicked in. Glad to have symptoms though if it means things are still on track in there.

Now I have to get through to my 2+half year old that whenever Mummy lies on the settee is no longer an automatic cue to jump all over her...

frankerooney · 05/08/2007 19:47

Thought I'd add myself to the list, and added RachelPross on too, hope that's ok. Anyone else not here?

Hey ladies

It's been a busy weekend so I haven't had a chance to look in here since Thursday. So much to catch up on!

Welcome to the new ladies!

Lolabell and Turtle, do you mind me asking where in Surrey you are? I'm in Bisley (Woking-ish)

I'm still so tired I can hardly cope, and hungry all the time. No real sickness yet but I didn't have any with DD either, for which I am eternally grateful! I'm definitely getting very grumpy with poor DH, but luckily he's very tolerant.

We've been in Kent all day at a bbq and the whole long process has left me exhausted. Must go lie down.....
