Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
insywinsyspider · 30/07/2007 14:00

hello all been mia for a while as I got completely lost with the conversation but hope you're all well. My due date has changed to 18th Dec which is spot on for ov date and bleeding has stopped which has made me feel a lot less run down, waiting nevously for scan next week (21wks) and trying to decide if we should find out sex or not.... really would like a dd... but 21 wks seems too early to know! might just have to get some self disipline and wait till dec. Feeling more scared and sad today - hormones are crap aren't they, think its actually becoming very real now...

hi poppy - am pg with no2 and last time didn't show till bout 24 wks, i had bump but only enough to look like I'd put on weight and needed new clothes, when I went to buy maternity swimming costume at 26 wks lady was very concerned that it was a mat costume and I probably needed a 'normal' one movements are different for everyone and its hard to tell with first - most don't feel anything till after 20 wk scan. try not to worry it does feel very surreal at this point!

skidaddle · 30/07/2007 14:09

hi poppy and congratulations

It is hard not to worry, especially when you don't know what to expect but given all the scans you've had it sounds like everything is absolutely fine. Some people just don't show for a long time, for example if they have really strong stomach muscles. And most women feel their baby move by 20 weeks so you still have a little while to go and this is just an average so lots of women don;t feel movement until later.

Have you had a date for the 20 week scan yet? Hopefully it will put your mind at rest but in the meantime try not to worry because it sounds completely normal

peanutbutter · 30/07/2007 15:12

well done Suey . Did you just not want to know the sex or were they unable to tell?

I've got my scan tomorrow afternoon and I'm so so so excited. I think i'm even more excited than i was with ds. I'll definitely be asking the sex and hoping the lo obliges.

MotherofZ · 30/07/2007 15:24

welcome poppy10 - read somewhere with the first baby you don't feel the movement that early, but so long as you are feeling something after 24 weeks.

incywncy - am like you - still toying with the idea of finding out or not. It's so tempting to do so, especially when nearly everone is posting that they have found out. I think I am just going to see how DH and I feel on the day.

Oh peanutbutter - feeling excited for you. You have to let us know what it is.

Suey2 - how do they know the weight of the baby. Modern technology eh? Amazing!

Can't wait to go home - want to carry on reading the harry potter book - half way through now. Think i am getting a bit crazy over it - or is it pregnancy hormones - was dreaming that I was a female Harry Potter last night and had to save the world before I gave birth and had all these spells and charms cast on me to protect me in my pregnant state.
lol

insywinsyspider · 30/07/2007 15:59

dh doesn't want to know sex as he's say's he wouldn't want me to feel disappointed if it was another ds and when the baby is here it'll all be good and I won't care, I hate the idea of having ds and being slightly disappointed - surely better to get that out of the way now than at christmas? sil just had dd this morning, made me realise how much I want dd of our own... hoping its a faze I'm going thro as scan is next week - if I can resist and get past next Monday it'll all be good! does seem like everyone knows now a days, if did find out would have to be strong and not tell anyone

Caz10 · 30/07/2007 16:14

Hi all! Another successful scan to report! Bump was sleeping but then did a massive yawn and waved his/her arms about when the sonographer lady rummaged around a bit, so that was really cute. We also decided against finding out the flavour, am looking forward to a nice surprise. Am just so relieved it was ok, although again I was surprised at how rushed it seemed, wish I could afford to go private! I keep thinking, how can she possibly have checked everything properly in such a short space of time???!!

Lizzer best of luck for tomorrow, I hope you get more information that should put your mind at rest. It is not nice to think of your LO having to possibly have an operation, but at least it is something that they CAN operate on and fix, which is reassuring. We'll all be thinking of you.

Re the fussy eaters, I have no other kiddies but regularly take the brownies away on camp - their parents provide massive lists of what they won't eat, but we get there and they eat pretty much everything!

Poppy10 · 30/07/2007 16:20

Hi, Thanks for your replies, that does make me feel better, it's all so weird when you don't know what to expect. I now understand why women can get really far on in a pregnancy and actually not know they are pregnant as if there's some other explanation for absence of periods, like menopause or the pill it's easy to overlook other subtle signs. I just always thought before that I would kind of "feel" pregnant, but I don't, I just feel the same, which I know reading and hearing about other people I think I am lucky, but on the other hand it makes it hard to believe it's happening, I can't wait to feel it moving for sure, then I'll probably start panicking

vnmum · 30/07/2007 16:21

hi, can i join in. i am due DC2 on 19 dec. DS was born dec 05.obviously we like that time of year.lol

after having to have repeat scans earlier in pregnancy as they were worried about baby not growing right for my dates, i finally got the all clear and have my 20 week scan on thursday. i cant wait. we will definately find out the flavour if baby is compliant as we did with DS and we want to know wether we are keeping his old stuff or having to get pink.

BecklePhoenixBird · 30/07/2007 16:33

Hi all, hope everyone is okay! You have been so busy I can't even start to catch up! Had a lovely time away but have a suspected UTI, it came on a couple of days before I went (typically on a Friday so no chance to go to docs) and so I have drunk plenty of water and also some cranberry juice (bleugh!) but although it has eased it has not completely cleared. Had a lump of (TMI ALERT!) green, thick, snot-like stuff when I wiped on Saturday which panicked me a bit, I was worried the plug might have come away as DS2 had sat on me quite hard and painfully earlier in the day. Spoke to MW yesterday who said it sounded like an infection but nothing to worry about so scooted down to see her this morning and she tested my urine, apparently it has stuff in which would suggest an infection so got to drop another sample in tomorrow to be sent away and tested - will prob mean a dose of anti-biotics, lovely! Other than that all seems well, getting bigger by the day! In lovely comfy maternity stuff now although the over the bump trousers have to be folded across and safety-pinned! Hehe!
20 Week scan next week and I have don't think I really want to know the sex of my baby but DH really does so am not sure what to do at the mo! DH usually gets his way with this type of thing so if we go for it I really hope baby has its legs crossed so we can't see!

suey2 · 30/07/2007 16:36

Re the sex- i decided not to find out- i want that kitch moment 'it's a boy!', or 'it's a girl!'. Gald we didn't- gives us something extra to look forward to

skidaddle · 30/07/2007 17:32

Congrats Caz10 - great news

poor you beckle - hope the antibiotics do the trick

insy - I know I would be the same if I didn't have a dd - it's so strange how generally men want boys and women want girls. I am not a girly girl by any stretch of the imagination but I really really wanted dd to be a girl. I think I would probably find out if I were you to get used to the idea, bu then again maybe your DH is right in that you won't be disappointed when you actually clap eyes on your baby if he is a boy... very tricky - good luck with whatever you decide

suey2 · 30/07/2007 18:08

congrats caz10
I know what you mean about wee girls skidaddle- I would love one mainly because I have such a fab relationship with my own mother, but since this is my first (we only want 2) i am really not bothered either way. I can totally understand finding our if you do care, though.

Bouncingturtle · 30/07/2007 18:54

Found you!
Seems like ages since last I was here... had a nightmare of a time with my laptop, the wifi card stopped bloody working, and mentally busy at work so unable to get time to browse mumsnet there.
Hope everyone is okay, I'm okay apart from ear infection returned...
Hope to catch up properly soon but incredibly busy atm crisis at work due to 2 people handing in their notice agghhh!!!
Have decided to limit my mumsnet time to this thread and pg after m/c thread i'm in due to the fact that i'm amazed how much more i can get done in the evenings when i'm not glued to t'interweb and mumsnet of a night....
Oooh I think i'm probably one of the last to find out if it's pink or blue, still 3 weeks to go to scan...

thelady · 30/07/2007 19:54

Beckle: our sonographer asked us both - and if either hadn't wanted to know, they refuse to tell!

insywinsyspider · 30/07/2007 21:51

skiaddale - i think dh is right when they are here it won't matter, suey - I'm close to my mum too which is why a dd would be so lovely... we were talking about how many children we should have tonight and i have to admit 2 would be great but if i have ds i'd want another one... does that sound as bad as i think it does?

buzzybee · 31/07/2007 08:18

Morning all and a big hi to Poppy10 and vnmum. I definitely want to find out the flavour tomorrow if possible. Must admit I'm more of a "no surprises" kind of girl. Plus if its a boy I'm going to need lots of time to find a name!

Poppy - I think I have an obvious bump now but have not had anyone who didn't know already ask me "the question" so I guess most people just think I've put on a few pounds! Not at all obvious from back or front, only from the side really. And I've had a baby before so was fully expecting to show lots by this stage (19+4). I'm feeling quite a few kicks but very variable from day to day and if I didn't know what it felt like I'd probably be putting it down to air bubbles.

MotherofZ · 31/07/2007 08:41

Good morning all - hope you all are well. Nothing like waking up to some nice sunshine.

Has anyone entered that blooming period yet -glossy hair, smooth skin, generally feeling much better?

Must admit my mood swings haven't been that bad for the past week, and my eyebrows seems to be growing back quicker too! lol.

Caz10 · 31/07/2007 08:57

MotherofZ - I wish!! When I stopped feeling sick I thought that the blooming would come next - it has never arrived! I am enjoying not feeling sick, and much less tired than I was at the beginning, but that is IT! Grr!! I want to bloom!

When does our 3rd trimester start? Cos apparently this is the bit we should be enjoying as it is all downhill in stage 3...!

Poppy I am exactly the same - although I'm pretty sure I can feel the baby moving, my bump is tiny and you can't see it in some outfits. However I have found that although I can still wear my normal jeans with a safety pin in them or something, if I wear a pair of maternity trousers I instantly look more pregnant!

insywinsyspider · 31/07/2007 09:17

i think 3rd trimester is about 26 wks - might not get worse I don't think I did with ds till right at the end by which time I was waddling around

has anyone decided on names yet? we haven't got a clue for boys names they some how seem more difficult than girls names

BeachBunni · 31/07/2007 09:45

Good luck for your scan today Lizzer. Hope it goes well for you and everything's ok.

Been feeling loads of little kicks from the weekend. Didn't feel anything last week so was a bit worried but from saturday it hasn't stopped moving. It feels like lots of twiches - the weirdest feeling is when it kicks down and it feels like my bits are twiching

Think the 3rd trimester starts wk 28 but still no blooming here. Maybe I might bloom if I could get a decent night sleep. I'm getting really grumpy with dp because the slightest movement or cough he makes wakes me up.

buzzybee · 31/07/2007 09:47

I woulodn't exactly say blooming but I can say my hair is growing back which fell out in what seemed like handfuls in the first trimester - makes me look very frizzy!

Skin is clearer too but only back to what it was before. Seem to need loads more sleep tho - frequently waking up to an hour later than I normally would, might have to start setting an alarm soon. I guess I should be grateful to be getting sleep now tho...

firstyme · 31/07/2007 09:53

Hi Poppy and vnmum! I am due on 8th dec
..i have a considerable bump now and can feel some movement though not sure what they r!!!
I have the scan due on 3rd
will update u

suey2 · 31/07/2007 10:51

I am blooming now, after feeling dreadful until 18-19 weeks. Caz10- how long did your scan take? Mine took half an hour.
Also bought a gorgeous dress in isabella oliver's sale (£63) for this very glitzy wedding i am going to at the beginning of September- look very PG in it but in a good and not 'kaftan' way, IYKWIM.

mixedmama · 31/07/2007 11:14

Morning everyone, Just spent the last 30 mins catching up with everyones news.

Sorry I cant remember exactly who said what but:

Congrats to everyone who had scans

Good luck to everyone with scans today and this week

Special thoughts for Lizzer

Re: blooming - I wish. I am still being sick, seem to have three or four days respite and then it is back. Have been sick since Sunday again, just does not seem to be letting up. I was positvely glowing at this stage with DS and am a complete wreck this time so hoping this means a DD!!

I cant remember who said it but I think my scan may well be the last one as it is STILL 5 weeks away!!!

anyway hope everyones well.
