mixedmama · 16/08/2007 11:00

My DS arrived smack bang on due date

OP posts:
MotherofZ · 16/08/2007 11:54

dd arrived 10 days early - my due date was 25th Dec! Done all the old wives tales - eating spicy food, long walks, pineapple and it worked. DID NOT want to be in hospital over Xmas.

claraq · 16/08/2007 13:01

Anyone else with a ceasarean scar finding it slightly tender now, as the skin stretches over it? I am still having to carry DD quite a bit (eg she'll walk somewhere but often insists I carry her some of the way back) and am slightly worried I will be putting too much of a strain on it - she weighs nearly 2 stone now.....
Don't want that scar rupturing even BEFORE I go into labour!

Bouncingturtle · 16/08/2007 13:34

Cheers all, feel relieved that it's nowt to worry about

Mixedmama, I too was lazy cow

Macdoodle congrats on scan!!

kerioke · 16/08/2007 14:06

i had an emergency section with my first and during my last pregnancy (with normal delivery) and this one i too have suffered stretching pains which at times are very sharp.. i have a 19 months old son so am also often carrying, but i am cautious not to use my tummy muscles when liftng him or other heavy objects. as long as your consultant gives your scar tissue a quick check when you see them then i am sure you will be fine... it is an added worry thoguh isnt it?!

skidaddle · 16/08/2007 14:27

Congrats awen, imawurzel and macdoodle - great news

claraq - poor you - maybe you could try taking her buggy everywhere so when she doesn't want to walk anymore you can put her in it? I have started doing this with dd as she is the same - wants to walk but can't make it the whole way. I don't have a cs scar but carrying a toddler is knackering anyway!

housemum - Corrie only in our house too!

about children growing up more quickly - There's soneone in my department doing research into this and she has found that having a an absent father actually leads to girls starting puberty earlier so maybe the rising divorce rate could have something to do with it? Don't know about boys though...

Had a dream last night that I was a teenage boy and I kept propositioning my friends' mums for sex (many of whom acquiesed)!!! Is pregnancy turning me into a pervert???

MotherofZ · 16/08/2007 14:32

lol @ skiddadles dream

becklespeckle · 16/08/2007 14:56

Congrats to Awen, Imawurzel and Macdoodle on your good scans! The boys on this thread seem to be outnumbering the girls by a lot! Wonder how it will even out once they are all born?! Imawurzel, Sonographer thinks I am 'most likely' having a girl too but couldn't be certain because legs were crossed, is not the same as not knowing but also can't call baby 'she' IYKWIM? Feels a bit strange to half know but at least babe looks healthy!
I had loads of stretching pains and very sore under-belly from 14-20 weeks but baby seems to have moved up higher now (although still lying sideways) so is much more comfy!

mixedmama · 16/08/2007 15:11

Skidaddle - your dream made me laugh.

The underside of my belly is really itchy lately, anyone else getting this?

OP posts:
MotherofZ · 16/08/2007 15:29

I read somewhere that is normal - only if the itching get's excessive thenit is a cause of concern.

Gosh was proper into Greggs today, had a pasty AND a sandwich. . On the wieght front have put on 1 stone, 1 pound.

skidaddle · 16/08/2007 16:09

yes think the itching is just the skin stretching, i have it too

mixedmama · 16/08/2007 16:12

It is so annoying tho.... and right under the bump most of the time.

OP posts:
Mrswizz · 16/08/2007 16:35

My skin is itchy too, and the little one is kicking me in the fanny today. Grump.

My boss is out at the moment so I am now going to lie down on the carpet.

mixedmama · 16/08/2007 16:37

Hahaha.... having visions of everyones face if i just get up from my desk andd lie on the floor.

OP posts:
Mrswizz · 16/08/2007 17:03

Hmmmm, that was a nice few minutes. Mixedmama, I can recommend it! There are only 2 of us in the office today so nice and quiet.

skidaddle · 16/08/2007 17:12

lol mrswizz - mine's kicking me in the fanny too - yesterday down on my bum - no wonder dp can never feel him move

Housemum · 16/08/2007 17:20

Somehow or other mine seems to tickle my belly button from the inside! Very peculiar feeling.

Sonographer was fairly wishy-washy with us, all she could say was "I can't see any boy bits so I would say a girl but would not commit 100%" - as we already have 2 girls, I will wash up some of their newborn stuff and hide it in the bottom of the drawer (we're not telling anyone what we think it is), but I won't buy anything new unless it's an absolute bargain - I do have a friend who is definitely having a girl (she's got diabetes so gets more scans) so if we get a surprise boy I could pass the stuff to her.

claraq · 16/08/2007 20:05

Kerioke - yes, one more thing to fret about! I am seeing the dr next week (my gp and mw share my antenatal care - strange arrangement but I don't mind as I really like my GP but not so keen on mw) so will check with her then.

Skidaddle - yes, I think I will have to start taking the buggy with me when I go out unless it's just round the corner. Especially if I am in a rush - walked somewhere today which should have taken 5 mins and took about 25 mins because you-know-who wanted to stop at every snail, slug, blackberry and twig; then insisted on taking her shoes off and me put them back on again; wanted to put her hand in the post box and then got very distracted by the road which goes towards the park......

Toddlers - don't you just love 'em?

PS your dream was very funny!

Peanutbutter - all my fault about the muffins; will try again with proper implements next time!!!! Am not totally deterred!!!

skidaddle · 17/08/2007 10:12

OMG claraq - your life sounds IDENTICAL to mine, even down to the details - putting hand in postbox and liking snails. What are your plans re buggy when baby no.2 arrives? (Sorry if you said before when we were discussing it, but will take me forever to find that particular conversation). I'm thinking sling/buggy board but not double buggy but don't know if I will live to regret it...

mixedmama · 17/08/2007 10:29

Skidaddle - I am of the same opinion, sling and buggy plus buggy board. I am not going to buy a double / tandem / baby underneath P&T thing unless it becomes apparent that I can no longer manage without them. Hopefully, by that time we will have got used to the new arrangements.

I have nightmares about the double buggy situation.

OP posts:
skidaddle · 17/08/2007 10:38

Glad I am not alone mixedmama - do you walk quite a lot? We don't have a car so we walk all the time which is why no double buggy makes me a bit nervous but can't bear the thought of manoevering a big unwieldy tank around..

mixedmama · 17/08/2007 10:54

we have a car, but I dont drive. We do walk at the moment but maybe i will use a bs more when there is two of them. again double just wont work.

OP posts:
Beanstermummy · 17/08/2007 10:56

Skiddadle Claraq and Mixedmama - we've gone for the buggy board option, but think DD at 2 1/2 when Button arrives will be a touch older than your LO's? I reckoned that even a board will let her sit down if really tired as well. Have you looked a the buggy pods you can get - think someone has already mentioned them - they seem to be around £70 and attached onto the side of your existing pushchair but fold up when not being used - could be an option? and cheaper than new double buggy? I know they appear on ebay.

Saw Doc yesterday - should have been MW but for some reason saw Doc - not really bothered but other than my booking appt, I've not actually met any of the MW team yet! Bump measuring 26cm so jsut about ok for 25 weeks - but still think most of that is me on top not the bump itself!

Mixedmama - joy of joys - someone has an anniversary or something today so there are boxes of Greggs cakes in the office for us all happy days
