No worries

MotherofZ · 25/07/2007 14:15

NBG - just read your initial post for today - am getting really achy itchy boob, which is such a pain when your sitting at work and want to scracth like mad...

suey2 · 25/07/2007 14:30

I feel incredibly full when i have just eaten! Thought i was having a MC or had a kidney infection the other day with that round ligament pain malarky. I was a bit worried when i read some other peoples descriptions of pain as they sounded very musculoskeletal rather than internal organ- do be careful, ladies, with your pelvises. Alternating and regular pain does not sound right compared to what i have- always best to get it checked out methinks and get that referral to physio if in any doubt.

Beanstermummy · 25/07/2007 15:11

Anyone have spells where they feel generally horrid - all light headed and a bit dizzy - especially when sunny or really light? Keep going hot then cold too. Putting it down to just having an off day but thought I'd ask

Neuro · 25/07/2007 16:38

Hi all

Please can i be nosey about your diets? I'm eating probably the same amount as i used to but gone up to 11 stone! Eeek.

Suey2 everytime i eat a meal i look about 2 months more pregnant afterwards. So first thing in the morning I look just about not pregnant and in the eve i reckon about 5-6 months!

Mmmmmmm am having beans on toast tonight. Yum yum.

Oh also, has anyone noticed that men are staring more at them? I don't know if it's because larger breasts (and low cut tops ahem - gotta make the best of 'em!).

My counsellor told me that A LOT of men find preggers women a turn on and rather fascinating.

Neuro · 25/07/2007 16:39

Beanstermummy - i have moments where i feel like i want to be horrid! But alas no bf or partner to have a go at.

by the way everyone, MY PLATE looks great!

Lizzer · 25/07/2007 16:41

Beanster, yeah me totally! I don't like it, and when I was on the plane last week I got a bit panicky and lightheaded but I think it was me making myself worse, I was fine on the way back apart from the odd sinking stomach feeling..

We've got a name 'theme' too as dd's middle name 'holly' if this one is rose then a definite spiky plant theme going on!!

Mrswizz · 25/07/2007 16:47

Neuro, glad the plate's looking good.

I find I'm invisible to men at the moment. Sometimes this is a good thing. I can walk past builders with absolute confidence that I'll not hear a peep from them - very liberating. Alternatively, most people pretend they can't see me on the tube so it works both ways.

I too am growing massive, especially after meals. I nearly sneezed the other day and when inhaling for the sneeze, I felt so stretched it hurt like I was going to burst. I had to stand up quickly and stifle the sneeze.

My bump wobbles slightly when I walk. Is this because a) I am a fat lardy bird who eats too much, b) this is normal or c) have not been doing my stomach exercises properly.

suey2 · 25/07/2007 16:54

Hey neuro,
my diet is pretty much as normal, but i am eating chocolate and crisps every couple of days additionally. I am having extra breakfast, but am finding i don't have room for as much dinner as usual. I have put on 7 lb and am 21 weeks tomorrow

Lizzer · 25/07/2007 16:55

Neuro, I too am gutted about weight - I've put on a stone and its not like I've been eating a lot, I'm now 20 weeks and I think its too much. SO I've decided to do more exercise instead. I've been doing 2, 2 mile walks a week and swimming once. Its not much but its better than being completely inert! I'm on my feet at work but its not the same as actually exercising. Stretches are good too,I try to do 15 mins every day.

I just don't look pg unless I've eaten a lot!! Its so weird isn't it?! Getting up with fairly un-bumpy stomach and going to bed as a lard monster!

suey2 · 25/07/2007 16:55

... and i totally agree about looking 2 months more PG after food!

Neuro · 25/07/2007 17:01

ah good. i am completely normal then!
I'm going to see the midwife tomorrow to ask for another listen to the heartbeat. I'm disgusing the visit as wanting to discuss what happens when i'm in labour - not the baby coming out bit, but all of a sudden i want to know who exactly will be there in the room, will she be there? when will i be able to have a bath afterwards, what if it's when visiting hours are over, what happens about food. I know i'm getting ahead of myself, but i want to knwo about it now i've read some stuff about good and bad midwife/hospital experiences. I know i do not want any student doctors or nurses in there with me...and i did read that Christmas/New Year is a v busy time for babies being born, so i suppose i want to know i'm going to be looked after as my family live two hours away...

Neuro · 25/07/2007 17:03

Suey2 - please can i ask you an exercise question?

4 days of the week i walk for 50 mins a day (to and from work)
and generally 2 days a week i'll have a good 2 mile walk. I usually swim all summer, but since the weather's been so terrible, this is all the exercise i am doing. Am going to start preg yoga next week or one after, but do you think i'm doing enough? I seriously dislike the gym as well as swimming pools.

Neuro · 25/07/2007 17:04

(I have a rational dislike of swim pools because of all the bodily stuff that's in the water, not to mention the chemicals)

suey2 · 25/07/2007 18:05

hey neuro,
sounds ace! Well done for all the walking. As long as you are sucking in as you walk along and not waddling you will be exercising your abs and gluts nicely. POsture is hugely important, so all hte stuff i said about no leg crossing , standing posture etc. is really important. pelvic floor is also useful to practice as you are walking along. The one thing you may be missing is flexibility (despite the mobility hormones coursing around) so the pregnancy yoga will be ace for that. You have to be careful doing normal stretches not to 'overpull' in a particular way. I would ask my yoga teacher for some 'homework' to capitalise on your classes and make sure you are stretching in a safe way.

kerioke · 25/07/2007 18:17

hi all. i also agree with the waking up almost bumpless and going to bed resembling a hippo! but hey its all part and parcel of it isnt it?

i am also concerned about weight and exercise and have the added problem of spd slowing me down, i really cant do anything, just a 20 minute walk will ensure i spend the following day stuck in bed in agony... i'm a bit stuck really.

Neuro, i cant comment on what your hospital is like but do try not to worry about things too much (although a little worrying is natural!) i have had 2 boys in 2 different counties and found in both cases there were no visiting hours on the delivery ward and very few people were moved to post natal within the first few hours... expect to spend a good 3-6 hours on delievery where the midwives will encourage you to take a bath as soon as you are able and allow your family at least to visit and encourage them to join in with changing and cuddling etc. as for who will be in the room that really depends on how your labour goes, thorughout labour she will pop in every 15 mins and stay longer if needed, but during deleivery it may just be her, maybe a couple others, but you do get to specify no students or males etc when you do your birth plan.

its your baby chick, your labour and they will honour your wants and needs as much as circumstances allow... jeeze i hope i am feeling as calm and logical as this when my fears and doubts creep in!!! i may be shouting for assistance neuro lol xxx

buzzybee · 25/07/2007 21:50

Morning all!

I read somewhere that an extra chocolate bar per day on top of you regular diet can mean you'll put on up to 2 stone over a year!! That makes sense to me as that's exactly what I did when PG with DD and I was exactly 2 stone heavier after DD was born than before IYSWIM.

I love Sadie! Might have to add that to my list too. Also Daniel. Can't use James or William or Sam or Robert as those are my nephews names.

macdoodle · 25/07/2007 22:10

was bad in 1st pregnancy 6 years ago thought was improving this time at 18 weeks but yet again not been able to keep anything down today - feel rubbish snappy with daughter HAD enough.....
And to make it even worse despite puking my guts up morning noon and night for the last 12 weeks, I have gained nearly a stone

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 25/07/2007 22:29

I have put a stone on and I am 21.5 weeks and I had hyperemesis for 4 months!!

We are having a boy and we like Joe. Our dd is Lucy.

But then when he is born he might not LOOK like a Joe.....

macdoodle · 25/07/2007 22:51

I like Joe it was my great uncle's name who died in Jan (though everyone called him Basil ) - if I have a boy it will be Joseph think its a girl though - will be Lily after gran who died in March

mixedmama · 26/07/2007 07:31

Skiddadle - you could try to look for some cross over names, for me it is easy as they both have to have an semi-Islamic sound to them, most of them are Levantine names so they work.

My mum is English and she said that they found it easy to find names that sounded a little English as well as Turkish. I know one lady who was Indian but married to an English guy and they settled on quite an English name but the middle name is very Indian. I do like Aoife though.

Caz10 - maybe if you think they are too popular you could go down the Ava line or Evie, I did mention to hubby about changing our girls name as i have seen Isla come up on a few threads and it is pronounced the same as Ayla.

Sorry for a ll the threads just catching up from yesterday.
