When I had DS2 I bought a buggy board, it was fab! DS2 was perhaps a little young (2 yrs 7 months) but he could sit on it if he was fed up of standing. Always had him on reins as a back up too! Am glad I didn't bother with a double buggy as by the time he was 3 he wouldn't use the buggy board anymore and was quite happy walking everywhere! You do need to allow a little more time to get anywhere though!
I have also seen these fab things that go on the side of your pushchair and turn it into a double buggy. buggy pod seat
Also a buggy board with a seatbuggy pod

I am well chuffed today as I have finally found a carrycot for my pushchair! I bought my buggy 3 years ago for DS2 when he was 18 months and I love it. I always planned to buy a carrycot for it if we had any more LOs but then Mothercare went and changed the clips 6 months ago so I couldn't get one! Didn't like the thought of new baby facing forwards to start with (and didn't want to buy a new pushchair) so have been trawling ebay for a carrycot and I finally found one! Lady should be posting it today!

Beanstermummy · 17/08/2007 11:10

All hail the Ebay god

We've just got a cozy toe for our Maxi Cozy car seat, a bush baby cocoon carrier, buggy board for mutsy pushchair and a littlelife pop up travel bed thingy - all in I reckon over £100 better than new prices - at least feel slightly more excited to get odd new things even though we don't need the biggies like first time round.

mixedmama · 17/08/2007 11:17

I looked at that buggy attachment thingy before and it is defo an option to consider, much better than double things...

I spent my whole journey home last night trying to suss out a Phil & Teds that was on the bus. I still just cannot get over the child underneath business, my head just wont accept it. Plus it was quite long and didnt actually fit properly, altho it was a small hopper bus.

Hello everyone! Woohoo it's nearly the weekend!
And on Tuesday I have my scan in the morning, and in the afternoon I'm goign to have my ear syringed so what a fun day I'll have .
Saw GP this morning, he says I don't have an ear infection, it looks as though I have glue ear - due to retaining more water when pg, apparently!
Just pleased I'll finally get it sorted

skidaddle · 17/08/2007 11:41

Oh I didn't know they could sit down on a buggy board too - well that decides it then! Buggy board all the way. Those buggy pods look good but I would rather get just a board if it will only be for a few months..

Off to Germany this afternoon for a conference/holiday so 'see' you all when I get back. Have a good week everyone

MotherofZ · 17/08/2007 12:00

how much do those buggy boards normally cost?

mixedmama · 17/08/2007 12:14

Have a nice nice Skidaddle.

I think you can pick a buggy board up for about £20.

Thanks MM

Loucee · 17/08/2007 13:41

Hi

Dundeemarmalade, yep I'm looking into hypnobirthing as well. I have a number for a lady in Stirling and Glasgow to contact but haven't got round to it yet.

Congrats Imawurzel and Ambi on your scans, how many still have to theirs?

Thanks for the muffin recipes, off to the shops in a moment so will get the ingredients and try tonight before eviction night!

Housemum · 17/08/2007 13:46

The sun is shining - it's nearly the weekend - and we're on holiday tomorrow!! 3 days at Eurodisney then a mobile home in Brittany. Can't wait!! (bucket-and-spade emoticon!)

becklespeckle · 17/08/2007 13:56

Ebay is fab!

This buggy board has a seat!
Good luck for your scan on Tuesday Bouncing, hope your syringing goes well too . How rubbish to get glue ear but at least it is not an infection.

claraq · 17/08/2007 16:57

Skidaddle (and Mixedmama) - this may be too late if you have already gone to Germany, if not hope you have a good time. We are almost certainly going for the buggy board option; I really don't want a double buggy, I just don't think I could justify the expense for the little amount we would probably use it. My DD has already tried one out (a buggy board that is) and seemed pretty happy, even when she was sharing it with her cousin. Now I just have to work out where to buy one which would definitely fit our buggy!!!
I do have a car and use it a fair amount, although walk to local shops, park, playgroup etc. So that is always a back-up option if necessary. And the buses are good around here - although would not want to use a bus with a toddler AND a newborn....

mixedmama · 17/08/2007 17:20

Hey Claraq -

I am still here - until 7 unfortunately

Even the practicalities of walking on a normal pavement with a double buggy makes me go cold.

Had my scan on Monday - a girl (which seems to buck the trend) and I was surprised as carrying completely differently to DD so was convinced it would be a boy!

on the whole double buggy thing I met someone today with a 20mo and 2mo and she had one of these babasling she said it was fab it looked like she was just walking round with a handbag, they'll be 18mo between my two so planning on getting one as my 'hands free' kit whilst at home and for the first few weeks before baby gets to heavy

question for you all - my mum has given me my old cot bed for ds but its a bit old and pink! does any one know if I can use chemical paint stripper whilst pregnant? they all look a bit nasty, will have to get dh to do it otherwise...

sleepfinder · 17/08/2007 20:50

hello can I join this thread - it seems to have been going on a while

but I'm due 16th Dec with a girl
(baby 2)

Loucee · 17/08/2007 22:38

Welcome Sleepfinder!

Buggy boards - can anyone advise, do you know if they fit a Quinny Buzz? I'm unsure about getting a double buggy but as my walk into town is 1 mile each way and I like to do it once a day I'm concerned that a buggy board would leave DD (who will be 22 mths) too exposed to the Scottish weather during the winter on my walk into town?

buzzybee · 18/08/2007 04:04

Hi - hope no-one minds I'm going to start a new thread as this one's getting slow to load again
