Yaki Soba noodles with Gyoza dumplings to start - now so full can only waddle around!!!

Mixedmama with you on the pasty bit though - keep going for cheese and onion ones and then half way through decide it's not what I wanted afterall - still going for the pot noodles though - ahhhh

mixedmama · 14/08/2007 14:38

I had McD yesterday for lunch was disgusting. I always feel that way once I have eaten my McD so dont know why I eaat it in the first place.

My bro is back form hols today and my coussins came back at the weekend so only 2 and a half more weeks till mum and dad ccome back - cant wiat for everyone to be back annd things to be back to normal - feel so empty with everyone away.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 14/08/2007 14:39

Altho now thinking of that for dinner. Was gonna try and con my bro to buy me dinner tho so will have to think about that.

Mrswizz · 14/08/2007 14:40

I can't resist the chocolate muffins in the coffee shop next door from work. Just had one with my lunch and now I feel sick, but it was worth it.

I want a maternity ring. I think I'll buy one with my insurance money if they pay up to replace my stolen engagement ring and other stuff. Not the same as it being a present from DH, but that would never happen.

You having a scan tomorrow then Awen? Good luck.

mixedmama · 14/08/2007 14:41

They will pay up wont they??? They have to surely.

OP posts:
MotherofZ · 14/08/2007 14:52

Awen - good luck with your scan tomorrow.

mixedmama - Are you on your own for the summer holidays? My family are far down South, but live close to my in-laws. DD loves going there - so spoilt she is - they are my 'stand - by' childminders when I go into labour!

MrsWizz - Sorry to hear your engagement ring got stolen - must have been really upsetting.

mixedmama · 14/08/2007 14:58

Yep. My dad actually goes for between 2-3 months, my goes for about 6 weeks and my bro goes for a few and my cousins go for a month. I normally go to but for the last two years havent been able to so feeling very sorry for myself.

ILs are not nearby, but as you know that is strained anyway. Just cant wait for my mum and dad to come back and for things to get back to normal.

Awen good luck with your scan tomorrow

Talk of muffins has made me decide to make some tonight. Got a friend round with her little boy tomorrow afternoon so it's a good opportunity to try out the chocolate icing i'm going to put on ds's birthday cake i'm making in 2 weeks (i know...gulp...god only knows how it'll turn out) Did someone on here say their homemade birthday cakes always look like they've been dropped from a tall building?

mixedmama · 14/08/2007 15:11

Peanut - am in awe of the fact that you can make cakes. i am useless.

OP posts:
MotherofZ · 14/08/2007 15:23

don't have the patience to make cakes- they take forever to do - although I can make a good Victora Sponge if pushed!

mixedmama · 14/08/2007 15:25

havent made cakes since i was about 8.

Beanstermummy · 14/08/2007 15:48

I Had a real baking spell when PG with DD - muffins of every available variety appeared weekly - did do flapjacks with DD last week though - interesting with a 2 yr old but I remember doing baking with my Mum so making an effort with DD too - also uses up time on a wet dull sunday afternoon when she's wanting to go outside and play in her sandpit!

Mrswizz · 14/08/2007 16:02

I hope they pay up. They took my wedding ring (fat fingers when pg), my engagement ring and two others and my camera .

I love making cakes. I cupcakes cakes for my wedding and about a million scones. Decided (stupidly) that I'd do all the food for it, out of cheapness rather than anything else. Bit of a stresser at the time, especially as I don't normally cook (DH does). We had a cheap wedding, marquee from ebay.

mixedmama · 14/08/2007 16:06

Mrswizz - sometimes they are the best.

OP posts:
peanutbutter · 14/08/2007 17:12

Mrswizz I am in total awe at you doing all the cooking and baking for your own wedding

mixedmama - i'm slowly grasping that baking is a lot about practice and also (probably most importantly) about finding the right recipe. It's so annoying & disappointing when someone gives a recipe that they say makes wonderful this or that - but they turn out crap when you try them. I think a lot of it is down to ovens being so different and whatnot. I've got my muffin recipes nailed. They're Twiglett's recipes but i think she said they're from a recipe book called Marvellous Muffins or something like that.

Can put the recipe on tonight if anyone's interested?

mixedmama · 14/08/2007 17:14

Please do peanut - DH did make a comment about me making cakes the other day. No ideaa why.

Hi everyone

Been offline due to laptop problems - missed loads of this thread.

Mixedmama - loved the writing in your b'day card!

Congratulations to all those who've had recent scans, can anyone who's expecting a boy tell me if it was really obvious to them that the baby is a boy without the sonographer pointing it out? I really think I'm carrying another girl but can't help but just wonder!

Loucee · 14/08/2007 20:00

And yes pleast peanut please do post muffic recipe!

Imawurzel · 14/08/2007 20:09

Hi all. I've got my scan tomorrow. 2.40 at Dorchester hospital.
I will be 20+2.
Not sure if we want to know the flavour.
Will it be easy to spot if we don't get told??

Lizzer · 14/08/2007 20:29

Loucee and Imawurzel, no you can't tell I don't think, they had to scan for ages on 2 of my scans to see his 'bits' at all as he was in an awkward position! Even at the 3d scan it was impossible to see anything as the sonographer is looking for things you don't have a clue where abouts they are on lo.

Mrs Wizz to hear about your things being stolen, that must be so horrible for you..

I love baking with dd too but ever since she was 2 she's only ever wanted to lick the bowl and hasn't much patience with the weighing and mixing!

Had mw apt today and she's back to her usual non-friendly self even post-holiday. She didn't even acknowledge dp and didn't get a clear heartbeat or show any interest really, grrrrr.....

Where's this muffin recipe then???
