happy birthday curly

congratulations on another lovely boy kerioke

becklespeckle · 12/08/2007 10:01

Congrats on another boy Kerioke! Boys are great aren't they?! I have 2 as well and people have been asking me for years if I was going to "try for a girl", used to really wind me up! Now I am pg I get "hoping for a girl then?" - grr... I just like babies! Glad you are pleased!
Sorry you had such an awful hols Lizzer, sounds horrid.

MotherofZ · 13/08/2007 08:13

Morning all!!

Hope you all had a bood weekend

Sorry to hear about your awful holiday experience Lizzy - hope your dd is ok too.

firstyme - I used to live in Croydon about 5 yrs ago! I heard Mayday has re-done the maternity unit and is supposed have improved loads in sevice.

Was our 5 yr wedding anniversary on Sat and went out for a meal at a lovely Indian resturant. Usually love hot spicy Indian foot and ordered my favourite dish, but took one look at it and wanted to feel sick! Pregnancy hormones for sure.

Looking forward to today....GOT MY SCAN TODAY!!!!!!!! Still unsure about finding out, I want to know, but hubby doesn't!

claraq · 13/08/2007 09:07

Good morning.

Back from a toddler-free weekend in Bristol with DH, which was great. I felt old though - there were loads of youngsters out on the piss, including about 300 hen parties, while I sat there sipping on my orange juice and talking about the "good old days" when we used to get tanked up and go on the pull - ha ha.

Happy Birthday to all the birthday girls last week and next - nice to know there are lots of Leo's out there.

Congrats to everyone on their scans and good luck for today motherofz.

Dkay - I don't think you can tell if it is a boy or a girl from the scan unless you REALLY know what you are looking for. I might be wrong but we certainly didn't notice anything obvious (which of course could mean it is a girl!) - but even experienced sonogrophers are known to get it wrong so I wouldn't assume anything. Anyway I think the guessing is half the fun!!

Finally, sorry for long post, but I just had to say how totally ridiculously enormous I am. I know I said this a week or so ago but I look about 8 months gone now (am about 24 weeks) and no idea where it's come from. I will see the Dr next week (routine appt) who will probably tell me not to worry about it.

mixedmama · 13/08/2007 09:12

Mornign ladies,

So many birthdays! It is my birthday too, today - 26. Going round to my cousins tonight for dinner and having lunch with a few friends who work near me.

Glad everyone had a good weekend. I feel quite good today, not very sick which is great.

mixedmama · 13/08/2007 09:14

Oh yes, good luck with all the scans.

MotherofZ - you could get them to write it down and you could look at it if you wanted. A friend of mines hubby wanted to know and he stayed behind and the sonographer told him, but tyhen she couldnt resist and he told her too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL MY FELLOW LEOS.

Happy Birthday mixedmama

mixedmama · 13/08/2007 09:33

You DH had some Mr Kipling cakes in the car and sang Happy Birthday to me on the way to work. Very funny.

Hello everyone!! Have just caught up with a week's worth of posts as have been away myself. Down to Queenstown which is NZ's primo ski town for a conference. Most of the others stayed on to go skiing but not me of course!

LOL Neuro at the "getting IT" expression - couldn't agree more, I'm sooo of those who are . Good luck talking to the donor on Sunday too. Haven't talked to mine for 3 months now. Last night I went to see "Knocked Up" which was really quite funny - apart from the bit where they showed the baby crowning - yes REALLY!!

MW just visited and we chased the baby around to hear the heartbeat. She was hiding way way down - don't think she likes the sound waves much. Did get to hear very briefly in the end.

She has recommended I don't go ahead with the 27 week scan and wait until 34 weeks which I'm really quite relieved about. The hospital OB had sent her quite a "nasty" letter talking about how I'd refused to have the amnio and she was very much supporting my choice which was nice. What will be will be. Next MW visit in 6 weeks due to me going on holiday in Queensland (Oz) in mid Sept.

skidaddle · 13/08/2007 10:12

mixedmama - wasn't it your dh's birthday a few days ago? You must be almost twins! Happy birthday to you anyway

MotherofZ - we were going to get the sonographer to write it down and decide later but curiosity got the better of us in the end and she just told us on the spot. I'm sure you will know whether to ask one way or the other once you are in there - good luck

claraq - I am also the size of a house! I honestly look like I could give birth tomorrow - think it must just be all the muscles stretched from last time - have also started doing that pg woman waddle which dp finds absolutely hilarious

Congrats on boy no.3 kerioke - how lovely

And Lizzer - you holiday sounds like a bad 70's sitcom, you poor thing!! At least you have a few days to recover with your dd being away

mixedmama · 13/08/2007 10:15

Thanks Skidaddle -yeah his bday was last Monday. Very strange how that has worked out.

OP posts:
skidaddle · 13/08/2007 10:16

hi buzzy,

at your hospital being nasty about your decision re amnio - how DARE they presume to tell you what is best for YOUR baby - I would be fuming. But thank goodness your mw is supportive and now you know you will have your baby here in December and as you say what will be will be , she is your baby and you will love her and that's all that matters

claraq · 13/08/2007 10:24

Skiddadle - there's a thread on the pregnancy board about someone with an absolutely enormous bump (I think the thread is titled something like take a look at this for a laugh) - you can see a picture of her bump and it is truely huge, made me feel a lot better!!

buzzybee · 13/08/2007 10:28

Thanks Skidaddle .

Actually had good chat to MW about how arrogant many of these doctors are (and sonographers by the sounds of things).
She is going to make sure my next scan at 34 weeks is with a "nice" sonographer she knows at a private place, am much happier at that prospect.

There is a scene in "Knocked Up" where the OB-GYN goes off at the character who is knocked up because she refuses to take his advice - I think it was meant to be comedic and satirical but I found it to be remarkably close to the truth!!

skidaddle · 13/08/2007 12:10

buzzy - glad things finally seem to be going your way and a good mw is more important than a good dr or sonographer because she will be there the whole way through.
Never heard of 'Knocked up' - will see if I can track it down

claraq - OMG at that bump!!!! That poor woman. here is a link for anyone else who is interested

firstyme · 13/08/2007 12:15

HI everyone
Have one query about birth registration...
when does that happen?? someone told me that you sould have a name ready at the time of birth and the registration should done immediatley???
i am totally unaware of this reg. issue,
so any clues??

Had my scan , dont know if its a boy or girl...want a surprise ....so havent even decied on the name yet i mean its a big time consuming task thinking both the names...am waiting for work load to finish n then get on with all this..

MotherofZ - Yes i heard that too... the facilities look okay at mayday... although some midwives looked strict n scary!!

JARM · 13/08/2007 12:17

firstyme - registratino of the birth is to be done within i think 40 days of the birth.

Quite often you have to phone the births/deaths/marriages office and book an appointment.

once there, its fairly quick and easy - mothers name/occupation same for father and hey presto - all done.

Mrswizz · 13/08/2007 12:23

Skidaddle, Claraq OMG that bump seconded!

mixedmama · 13/08/2007 13:26

Yeah, i read that bump thread this morning. She was incredibly up beat about it tho, and was great at taking everyone going OMG, but then she did say she posted it for a laugh and I suppose if you dont embrace it it could get annoying with people going OMG you are sooo big.

Beanstermummy · 13/08/2007 13:50

Blimey

And I thought I was big last time. Was looking back at friends wedding piccies last week and it was the weekend before DD arrived - I was pretty huge it must be said - but all over. That lady looks like she's all bump but not fat horrid legs, arms, boobs....etc etc.

Claraq and skiddadle - bump in these last two weeks for me seems to have suddenly grown loads too - top bump and bottom lardy bit are joining up now

Having one of those feeling exhausted days today - any one else get them? Just don't seem to be able to breath deep enough and even just getting up from sitting makes me want to sit down again. Read somewhere that our lungs and heart are going at 50% more than pre PG at 24 weeks or so but still - can't do another 3 months of this surely........just glad for the 3G remote lap top I have from work so can actaully be 'working' while still in bed god bless those computer geeks who figured wifi out heh

have a good day ya'll

Neuro · 13/08/2007 14:52

G'day all!

I've added my scan photos. One looks like bubbby is staring straight at us. Mad.

Buzzy - well, i don't mind not getting 'it' as i've turned obsessive bookworm. Atlhough this warm weather has made me check out men in the street...

I had a talk with my sperm donor (he'd hate that phrase even though it's true) on Saturday and he got all uppity saying 'it's hilarious that you even think i was thinking of you in a romantic sense' but hasn't actually spoken to me since. Quite funny. Sigh.

That immensely pregnant woman - is she expecting twins???? That looks painful.

Neuro · 13/08/2007 14:53

and Happy Birthday to Mixedmama X

claraq · 13/08/2007 15:21

Neuro - apparently not twins and apparently she is only 34 weeks in the pic. It probably looks bigger because she is nice and slim. I hope she's proud of it!!! She should paint a big face on the front and walk around with her belly out all day. That would get people talking....

mixedmama · 13/08/2007 15:25

MMM... just popped out for a cornetto.... delicious

OP posts:
Mrswizz · 13/08/2007 15:34

That sounds good Mixedmama. I've just realised that I've been avoiding my fave flavour thinking it had peanuts on - and darn it if they aren't hazlenuts! Now I can scoff to my heart's content.
