Hey all... over here!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
suey2 · 09/08/2007 08:37

me too- appointment with midwife then a pre holiday brazilian. Bought a cheapie swimming costume from H&M mama- looks totally ridiculous! I really am totally out the front and seemed to have lost weight elsewhere. Getting the cramps the last 2 nights and have now stocked up on tonic water- thanks for tip whoever that was. Definitely getting swollen feet after sitting for a while so will go and buy some sexy flight socks today as obviously cannot take aspirin as prophlaxis! woo- hoo 2 days to go then i'm off

thelady · 09/08/2007 08:48

Somewhere in the depths of my foggy brain I seem to recall that Magnesium is given to stop cramping. Foods rich in Magnesium are whole grains, legumes and nuts.

Definitely a calcium imbalance, as well as a sodium/potassium imbalance can play Old Hob with muscle contractions.

Ditto dehydration.

Umm. Thats all I can think of now anyway.

Was checked out by the GP on Monday as I went from 'fine' on Friday morning to 'elephant legs' on Friday night, and had rotten headaches over the weekend. Nothing doing. BP 127/63, no protein, and I've been told to either walk or lie down as much as possible - tricky when you're working in hotel/pub/kitchen and there's a lot of standing/sitting.

Sympathies to anyone else with puffy feet/ankles - I've had to go out and buy shoes a size bigger than usual.

Caz10 · 09/08/2007 09:17

cazzybabs are you a teacher or are you just off for dd's hols? My term starts next week - DREADING it, how will I cope without my naps?!!

Oh cycyling is fine whoever asked, I've just found I need to raise my handlebars a bit! There is a whole thread on it in "pregnancy" including someone who just about cycled into give birth!! I'm actually finding it much easier than long walks - no hard impact so your bump doesn't jiggle up and down!

OK meant to be hoovering...now I wish that was banned!!

Mrswizz · 09/08/2007 09:57

I've been getting cramps but I've found that the thing that triggers them is when I stretch my legs out in my sleep or half sleep. I've trained myself now to not point my toes, but to flex my ankles to stretch out hte calf the other way. The cramp doesn't come on then.

Uncomfortable hips and pelvis though when sleeping on my side now. Have ordered a big pg cushion thing but it's not arrived yet.

becklespeckle · 09/08/2007 10:28

Just putting myself on the list! DH is still being very smug about the girl thing, he seems to think that "looks like a girl but can't be certain" means "it's a girl"! I am still in shock as was fully expecting it to be a definite boy result. Also found out yesterday that despite my 2 earlier scans showing otherwise they are still dating me by my LMP and saying am due 24th December, I have decided to stick with 27th though as that is closer to my guess and the scans.

Actually keep thinking it must be a boy as everything is so, so different to last time with DD - but really no clue. Financially would be better if a girl as we still have all DD's old stuff but on other hand would be nice to expereince something different.

Anyone else at the top of the list really finding these last few weeks (23 - 24) have been balloon stage - suddenly seem to have gone from bit PG but fat really to OMG even Maternity stuff feels tight

becklespeckle · 09/08/2007 11:45

Sorry Beanstermum, didn't mean to miss you off (copied Bouncing's list, don't think you were on there either) - think the list just gets copied and pasted - I have been missed off a couple of times too...
My DSs were much more wriggly babies than this one so maybe you are having a boy this time! This baby seems much calmer so far and is definitely scan-shy (and dopler-shy too), DSs (particularly DS2) showed off a lot on his scans! Did you find there was much difference in your MS as that is the real difference I found this time - it was worse, lasted all day and for much longer than with either DS.

Housemum · 09/08/2007 11:56

Beanster - am just coming up to 20 weeks and feel as if I have exploded! Was just-a-bit-porky, suddenly there is a bump. I swear I just woke up one morning and someone had stuck it there. It's not quite sitting on my lap yet, but I notice when I give DD a bath that I can't get so close when I'm washing her hair - the bump hits the side of the bath!

mixedmama · 09/08/2007 12:08

I find i cant bend down to pick something up anymore... defo looking quite bumpy now.

OP posts:
becklespeckle · 09/08/2007 12:13

I was sat on a chair and bent to pick up something off of the floor, I forgot I had a bump, bent down quickly and it hurt like hell! Baby not impressed either, gave me a right good kick! Now I remember to open my legs before I bend down!

Mrswizz · 09/08/2007 12:41

Yes Beanster, I'm 24 weeks now and getting much bigger. Am getting seats on almost every journey on the tube Very obviously pregnant. I can still get into non maternity tops though if they're the right shape.

becklespeckle · 09/08/2007 12:57

Most of my tops are still non-maternity - all smock type ones though or ones that flare out under the bust! My 'real' tops only come down as far as my belly button now!

suey2 · 09/08/2007 12:57

me too. MW told me this morning that i am big for dates- i know i am going to have a right thumper! Suddenly growing very quickly- making sure i slap on that bio oil every day now- also got some yummy bump balm from bliss.

Loucee · 09/08/2007 13:20

Morning everyone

I have different symptoms this time from when I was pg with DD, I wonder if it means I'm having a boy or just going along with the "every pregnancy is different".
I'm ballooning now as well, I have a very round obvious bump but it's nice to not just look fat now!

Suey2 Brazilian?! Wow I admire you, my pain threshold is far too low to even consider one of those! Where are you going on holiday?

mixedmama · 09/08/2007 13:25

Suey - i am just so embarrassed of getting my bits out in the beauticians to have a brazilian... I know it is their job and since I already have a child you would think it wouldnt even be an issue anymore.

OP posts:
suey2 · 09/08/2007 13:30

Brazilian is snarting rather more than usual it has to be said.
Off to New York City, the Hamptons, Boston Western Massachusetts and Maine. And yes, I will be eating lobster!

Neuro · 09/08/2007 13:39

hi everyone

has anyone had any funny rashes? i've got one on inside of my right arm and on inside of my right knee!

mixedmama · 09/08/2007 13:40

No rashes, but have come up with a scab on my knee... well not really a scab. When i touch it it burns and feels a little wet and is red, just out of the blue. Are we maybe more susceptable to allergies that perhaps we dont normally have???

OP posts:
mixedmama · 09/08/2007 13:45

Neuro just found this.... dont think it would be anything serious but this suggests it is worth getting it looked at.

Skin disorders that occur during pregnancy can be:

rashes specific to pregnancy, called specific dermatoses (skin disorders) of pregnancy.

non-specific rashes that could occur at any time.

itching without rash.

These disorders can cause harm to mother and baby, so seek medical advice if you spot any skin changes that seem abnormal. Itching without rash can be normal or abnormal in pregnancy. Advice should be sought if itching occurs after the first trimester (three months) of pregnancy, or if it keeps getting worse.

claraq · 09/08/2007 14:09

Beanstermummy - I am almost 24 weeks and also huge, worryingly so. I am sure much bigger than last time. And still more than three months to go - yikes. But can't possibly be having twins after three scans and only one heartbeat each time. Can I?

Poppy10 · 09/08/2007 14:10

Hi all, Just had my 20 week (though actually 21 weeks today) scan this morning and all fine, but we decided not to find out the flavour as looking forward to finding out on the day. It was reassuring to see the growth was fine and see it moving around as still haven't felt any movement. Whole thing seemed very fast though, about 7 minutes, I expected it to take longer? Have added myself to the list below

Caz10 - I am a teacher for my sins!

And MotherofZ cycling is fine when pregnant - I cycled with 1 child on my bike till I was 39 weeks and then her bike seat got in the way of my bump, but on my own I cycled till the day before I gave birth. OK I could had fallen off, but I could equally be in a car accident!
