Housemum - it was a company called A 4D Baby, unfortunately only have 2 locations, Ipswich and Huntingdon. I guess thats why its cheap, because its a local company and the only one in the area!

NBG - thanks mate! Am so so so so so chuffed!!

Nbg · 04/08/2007 09:52

I thought you would be

Boys are fab!

JARM · 04/08/2007 09:53

im soon to find out!!! Actually bought some BLUE clothes yesterday because i could!!

Nbg · 04/08/2007 09:57

(your go on scrabulous btw )

Lizzer · 04/08/2007 11:35

Buzzybee, sorry only just got back online, glad you made the right choice for yourself, it seems unlikely that there will be a problem (and after advising you to for amnio I realised I'd turned down triple test for similar reasons therefore I am talking rot!) TBH I have been absolutely fine with this pg once the problem has been pointed out and I am totally relaxed and enjoying it again so its not so bad. Are you being scanned again at 30w like me, to monitor the kidney?

Hey Nbg, am off to Deutschland myself on Tues - NOT to the theme park though, was it excellent fun? Please tell me the weather was better than here?!

JARM I am sooo resisting the urge to buy boys stuff but now the new Boden stuff is online I might just have to get one pack of gorgeous sleepysuits (the rest will be coming from asda though LOL!)

THELADY, we've been watching kicks this morning too, its so amazing isn't it!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and thanks again for all your support and love last week

Here's my addition to the list (in chronological order)

JARM 26/11/07 2DD's - Expecting a BOY!!!
Lizzer 10/12/07 - 1dd - Expecting a BOY!!!
Fifisworld 17/12/07 - 1 ds - Expecting a BOY!!!

Lizzer · 04/08/2007 11:38

Can I be cheeky and link you all to my other thread about the size of Mothercare's feeding cushion? Please look if you have one in the house...

Nbg · 04/08/2007 11:39

Lizzer, weather was fab. Red hot. It rained the second day and was really windy but by 9am it was bright sunshine and hot again.

Lizzer · 04/08/2007 13:44

Excellent NBG, I hope it holds out for next week!

OMG Jarm just seen your pics, that's amazing! I want one now! We saw the face on the 3d scan at Newcastle on tues but couldn't make out the features as clear as on yours and because it was medical we couldn't exactly ask for a pic, they took one of his kidney though..

He did say the face was 'normal' though and I thought 'normal? humph! Don't you mean incredibly good looking'

becklespeckle · 04/08/2007 15:58

We seem to be expecting a few boys on this thread, will be interested to see what the balance of boys, girls and surprises is once we have all added to the list! Will add myself after the scan next week, just realised that I got my scan date wrong though, is Weds not Tues! (hormones again...mutter,mutter). Am sure I wasn't this forgetfull when pg with the DSs! Although I like the idea of a surprise I think I will prob find out the flavour as it will give DH time to get used to it if it is another boy (he would really like a girl), would be worried about baby popping out and DH not bonding with him if he didn't have some time! Perhaps baby will have legs crossed anyway!
JARM, those pics are fantastic! Might have to show DH as we are not far from Ipswich, perhaps if baby does have legs crossed I may be able to convince him another scan is a good idea!
Fifi, it really annoys me when people say things like that too! When I was having DS2 I really wanted another boy cos DS1 was so scrummy but everyone assumed I was disappointed, some even said things like "oh well, do you think you'll try again for a girl?" (while I was still pg, as if they had written off DS2 cos he was a boy) - made me so mad. I just said that if I tried again it would be for a baby not for a girl! Lucky too that I was pleased, can you imagine if that was said to someone who was devastated to be getting another of the same sex, could be enough to tip them over the edge!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 04/08/2007 16:26

JARM Im thrilled for you Boys are great !

I will have 2 girls and a boy toy Quite a common family shape I find - hopefully t works well eh?

Im off to spain in 2 hours so will see you all n a week

HailBop · 04/08/2007 16:46

Hi ladies,
Wish I had more time to stay active with this thread! I have a perhaps silly question (pregnant with my first so lots of those it seems!) but how is growth of the baby measured? I'm 23 weeks along and have had one ultrasound at 19 weeks and no fundal height measurements. Is this for later in pregnancy or am I missing something?

JARM · 04/08/2007 17:13

OMG

I have just spent WAY too much money, but it was so worth it for all those gorgeous dungarees and socks and sleepy suits and vest and hats all in BLUE!!!

Beckle - honestly, a 4D baby at martlesham is SO worth it, would go again tomorrow if i could!

thelady · 04/08/2007 18:32

I didn't get a fundal height measurement until 21 weeks - midwife said that even then it's only one clue about growth. It's only if it's way way out that she'd send me for a growth scan.

My scanner refused to tell me anything about the baby's size.

Meanwhile, I'm dealing with sausage-feet and hoping for more dinner customers than yesterday (none!)

Fifisworld 17/12/07 - 1 ds - Expecting a BOY!!!

Think the boys majorly outweigh the girls on this thread, I thought I was having a boy too but have broken the run of babies at work(at the envy of some of my colleagues) as they've all been boys in the last few years

Hailbop, I don't know the actual measurements of mine but go off the measurements on pregnancy.org's calendar (which is fab) it suddenly jumped up at 21 weeks from 6.46inches to 10.51inches, I thought "christ that's a leap", then read the small print in where the measurements change from crown to rump to heel to crown, d'uh.

Pregnancy brain is starting to annoy me, locked myself out of the house today, had to drive over to Mums to get a key. I want my memory brain cells back, but I have a feeling that having children only makes it worse

Bloody United Utilities cut off our water today and have only just switched it back on so now finally feel human again after a shower, wish they'd hurry up ripping my street apart and disrupting my life... Having said that, don't really have much else to do this weekend as am football widow. However I do see a pizza and chick flick on the cards for tonight (wish I could have a bottle of wine too, sigh)

Hi Housemum,

Theres a 4d scanning company in Reading that I found on the internet called Future Babies, they have a number of packages but we're going to go for the 15 min dvd for &95. We haven't booked it yet though as I want to make sure everything is ok at my scan next Thursday when I'll be 21 weeks as everyone's reassured me but still no movement :-(.

cazzybabs · 04/08/2007 21:54

Have been away for a couple of weeks staying with my parents while dh swanned off to Oz! I have been knacked - I still need a sleep in the middle of the day or I am asleep at 8pm! Mind you dh is jetlagged and asleep downstairs whilst dd1 is up building lego! GO TO SLEEP! Mind you I have been reading HP and buying boden for the dds whilst saying umm yes great house, good rocket etc...

We are going to have a 4D scan too...need to book it, just waiting for next months paycheque (after the boden!) but I don't want to know the sex till its born! JARM you have given me hope that maybe I'll have a ds.....

got conformation about my pool (birthing not swimming sadly)...so excitied! Mind you I have suc bad cellulite at the mo I need a private pool!

cazzybabs · 04/08/2007 22:18

buzzybee - i am sorry to hear your scan news! Fingers crossed your dd will all be fine - but what ever happens she will always be perfect!

I hope you are doing alright - I never know the right things to post....i am not eliquent like most MN posters.

buzzybee · 05/08/2007 02:33

Thanks cazzybabs and everyone else. Actually I think that's exactly the right thing to say. Have go my head around it and simmered down a bit after feeling very angry at the hospital on and now happy just to sit back and wait and see.
Lizzer, yes plan to have another scan but hoping not to have the same ob! I'm going to talk to my MW at the next appoinment and my get her to refer me to a private 4D place - not sure the cost tho! I so so want a happy experience this time!!! I feel I need to go in a reassure them up front that I'm prepared for signs of Downs and they don't need to whisper about it and just to focus on whether the baby's kidneys are better or worse etc.
I found some lovely threads under the Special Needs topic where people were asking advice on how to react to a friend who'd had a Downs baby and the mums posting there who had Downs babies brought tears to my eyes - they obviously love their kids so so much. Made me much calmer - TG for MN yet again

Jealous bout the 4d scans, wishing we'd sorted it out now. But all funds are going towards buying me a car for mat leave.. so boring and practical (and necessary).

If only I had a couple of grand to splurge on me and new baby, that would be ace, damned crappy mat pay.

I'm also reasoning it out by saying to myself, since I couldn't contain the surprise of the sex, the next surprise is finding out what she looks like on her birthday (still jealous tho)

cazzybabs · 05/08/2007 10:10

Will you hope the 4D scan tell will tell you wether or not your dd has downs? Or just that you want to see your beautiful daughter again?

buzzybee · 05/08/2007 10:18

cazzybabs - need to have a scan again to check whether the dilated kidney has got worse anyway so may as well do it somewhere I can get to see 4D at the same time!
Plus I really don't want to go back to the hospital.

sorry rant alert
Can you believe it? - I had to ask 3 times to find out the sex and then she just kind of whispered it as if it was a dirty word. In NZ its standard practice to tell you the sex if you want to know - so I can only presume she was worried it would make me more upset to know, on the assumption that I might end up terminating.

Ambi · 05/08/2007 10:23

Buzzy - I second what caz says, I never know the right thing to say - esp when feeling so unqualified to discuss them, Feel so inept when people mention m/c, not that I don't care or want to give em hugs (I'm the agony aunt of my mates!) but since not gone through it myself, I almost feel inexperienced to give advice or anything. Plus the hard thing with typing is that the tone of anything written can always be taken out of context, and I wouldn't ever want people to get the wrong idea of what I was saying or offended when they already feel rubbish. sorry, am waffling now.

Hugs sincerly, and babybuzzy is lucky to have a mama to worry bout her so much..
