Hey all... over here!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Neuro · 01/08/2007 17:48

not sure....i eat a big salad every lunchtime which covers all me daily portions!

I could have some pizza, but that's usually a friday treat.

don't know. cant' bring myself to eat fruit at mo and usually love it. pregnancy is weird

time to wash cup and linger at sink....

Neuro · 01/08/2007 17:54

good luck with your last hour!

aubergines and tomatoes? Mixedmama you are good. I would be far more naughty!
How is everyone's belly button? Mine has started to get much more shallow- i am slightly dreading the 'outie', i mean, i wouldn't walk around with my nipples sticking out, it feels a little indecent

thelady · 01/08/2007 21:42

Mine too! Much more shallow than usual. However, the nipple thing is just something I've had to get used to: the women in my family refer to it as 'smartie smuggling' and even a padded bra doesn't always disguise it

BeachBunni · 01/08/2007 21:46

Just giving a quick post before I head to bed.

Buzzy that is a terrible decision for you to have to make but they are only soft markers aren't they? I can't understand how the hospital can expect a woman to make a decision like that so far into the pregnancy. I'm sorry I don't have anything else to add because I think it wouldn't sound right but thinking of you. Elenor is a lovely name though.

Lizzer that's really good news.

Good luck with your scan tomorrow kerioke.

To all the experienced mummies out there what do braxton hicks feel like? On and off today I've been getting pains down where I'd usually get period pain. It goes crampy and then a weird tight feeling. I'm a bit worried because I'd always assumed b. hicks would be felt all over your tummy, not just further down.

suey2 · 01/08/2007 22:07

oo yes congrats lizzer- what a relief!

buzzybee · 02/08/2007 07:07

Lizzer, so glad to hear your news. Its not a strong association with Downs so probably not worth mentioning in your case since your nuchal/blood test results probably came back low risk. I think the only reason they pointed out the correlation to me was because I'd already had the high risk nuchal fold result.

Am now very annoyed that the Ob spent her whole time trying to convince me that I should now have the amnio having had these 2 "bad" results that she completely failed to give me any of the information you got while in Newcastle.

Having now decided against having the amnio, I'd quite like to know how severe the problem is etc. Of course I immediately came on trusty old MN and found a few older threads where people had the same thing picked up at 20 weeks so feel reasonably well informed about how easily it can (usually) be treated etc which is quite reassuring.

I guess I'll just have to wait and get my MW to refer me for another scan in a few weeks so can ask those questions then. In the meantime trying my best to focus on the positive and remind myself how good the scan was in terms of her heart etc - it could have been so much worse!

MotherofZ · 02/08/2007 08:44

morning all -
buzzy, it's a hard decision to make, but whatever you decide, am sure it will be right for you.

Beachbunni - the best way I can decribe B H contractions, are like having a belt being tightened around your stomache for a couple seconds then it suddenly stopping.

Suey2 - my belly button looks like it's strecth, defo not poped out yet.

Neuro - talking about pizza, went to Pizza Hut yesterday and had 4 huge slices, still feeling really bloated today (but worth it!)
Hello to everyone else - hope you are ok.

Went to see Transformers yesterday (DH choice): SFX good, but not my cup of tea!

Caz10 · 02/08/2007 09:40

Oooh Neuro your fag stories reminded me that I had forgotten to say - when I went for my scan the 1st person I saw was a heavily pregnant girl standing outside, she couldn't have been any older than 14, puffing away happily on a cigarette that her mum had just lit for her! Nice!

Now I used to smoke, so I never criticise smokers, but pregnant smokers I WILL criticise!!! Yuck!! hee hee!

My belly button is the opposite, it has gone enormous, you could lose someone in there!!

Lizzer glad you got good news. Buzzybee I wouldn't go for amnio either. I always think there are many many things that could be so much worse than DS. But it is a personal choice - good luck!!

We have started the nightmare which is pram shopping - it's awful!!!

Ambi · 02/08/2007 09:51

Hiya Girls, after a shocking nights sleep and a stiff back I've succomed to purchasing a "malcolm". Hope it arrives tomorrow!!!!!

Mrswizz · 02/08/2007 12:02

Morning all. Yes Caz, whenever I go to the hospital I see young pregnant mums having a fag outside. I can't understand why they'd do that. DH says he's always noticing them when he's out and about too. He uses it as an excuse for why I should be allowed nice soft french cheese every now and again. Have so far resisted mostly, only one or two slip ups - but the boy is wriggling so much all the time I don't think he's been harmed.

Am a little peed off at the mo, had the painters in (unusal for a pg woman lol) to paint our windows and have noticed my jewellery has been nicked, and my digital camera. So can't be ar*ed dealing with this. My engagement ring has gone too.

Ambi · 02/08/2007 13:01

at the theives!! Mrswizz, hope you don't pay the bstds, and get your stuff back.

claraq · 02/08/2007 14:36

Beachbunni - hey, I was going to ask this question too! I am an experienced mum (of one) but never got BH last time so don't know what they feel like. But I have had a few of these period-like crampy pains, they don't last long and have only had it three or four times in last couple of weeks. But wierd - not what I imagine BH to be like. But it is still so early (I will be 23 weeks on Saturday) maybe this is what they are like at this point in pg?

To anyone who followed my saga of having no water and having to move away for a while, happy to report we are now back home. Water back on although still not drinkable, even if boiled, so have to haul bottled water around for drinking, cooking, washing dishes, cleaning teeth etc. Still at least we can flush the toilets! It is very nice to be home. I don't need this much stress when I am this pregnant....

becklespeckle · 02/08/2007 17:15

Wow, quiet on here today! Hope everyone is okay.
Can't remember too much about when BH started with DSs, I think not until 30+ weeks but it is possible to get them earlier. Could it be baby kicking or prodding somewhere causing the discomfort? Mine kicked downwards all evening yesterday!
Well I just phoned the docs for my urine test results and they have come back clear! No infection. Which is great because I didn't want anti-biotics really but I have to say it still stings a bit . I wonder if I did have a UTI but managed to flush it out by drinking plenty? The MW picked up stuff in my sample on Monday (with that strip they dip in) which suggested infection but Tuesday's one (sent to hospital for analysis) was clear. Only 5 more sleeps until my next scan - hopefully they will test again then and it will all be clear still. Don't know what I'd do if I had nothing to worry about!

dundeemarmalade · 02/08/2007 17:44

re belly buttons - mine is sort of stretched - reckon it's going to pop any day now. i saw an ad for belly-button piercing retainer bars in the back of one of my SIL's baby mags the other week - hadn't occurred to me that i'd need one, and i normally just wear a plain sleeper, have done for years. dh reckons now is the perfect time to remove the metalwork and start acting my age... wonder if i'll have to take it out for scan tomorrow.
mrswizz - that's awful about your stuff getting nicked!
claraq - you must be so relieved to be back at home. how long til you get drinking water through the taps?

tabimum · 02/08/2007 18:23

Blimey, you girls know how to chat , have been a bit busy at work, and home, and so not logged on for a few days and took me hours to catch up!!!

MotherofZ - I know exactly what you mean about being less excited this time around - i feel exactly the same. Am looking forward to new baby coming along, but cant really get motivated to start planning for it etc.. I need to buy double buggy, and sort out bedroom for DD to move into so that new baby can have nursery - but it still seems such a long way off.

peanutbutter - I am in the same position with having to decide at 34 weeks whether to have elective section or VBAC so interested to hear your thoughts too. I change my mind daily - i am sure it is made worse by the fact that due date is so close to christmas and I would like to be sure of being home with new baby and DD - which is making me consider section more seriously, which is probably wrong! Also, DH works away a lot, so knowing the actual date new baby will arrive would be helpful for making sure he is definately close by!

Anyway - congrats to all on scans - still have a week to go until mine. Will try and keep up with chat!!

claraq · 02/08/2007 20:11

Dundeemarmalade - we will probably have another week or so until we get drinking water in the taps but I can't fault the relief effort, it's been fantastic.

Tabbimum - like you and Peanutbutter I am also having to chose between VBAC and a 2nd c-section. At the moment am definitely inclined towards trying for VBAC, mostly because I am worried what it will be like recovering from the op with a 2-year-old to look after (especially when she wants cuddles!). However I was told even if we chose to try for a VBAC we still have a 25% chance of ending up with another section so might as well prepare for that scenario!

Bouncingturtle · 03/08/2007 06:56

Caz10 · 03/08/2007 08:44

Mrswhizz that is awful! Thoughts are with you. What are the police saying?

Claraq glad you are back in the land of running water!!

Becklespeckle I had to get antibiotics last week for a UTI, wasn't keen but it was a very low dose and only about a 3 day course. She said my test results looked like I had ALMOST managed to flush things out on my own, so keep drinking that water!!

Dundeemarmalade I took my belly button piercing out when I got my BFP! Not sure if that was the best move though as now I have a hole above my rapidly expanding belly button, I'm scared it's going to split open!!

ozzymoomoo · 03/08/2007 08:56

Please add me to the list!!! 30th Dec 1DS aged 3 ta very muchly

dundeemarmalade · 03/08/2007 09:16

caz10 - that's partly why i've left mine in - wasn't sure what shape it would end up! have just bought rainbow-coloured pregnancy retaining thingy from here - may as well look like a proper hippy while i'm still being 'juvenile'

mixedmama · 03/08/2007 10:40

MrsWhizz - for you. I had to take yesterday off work as someone broke into our car and we couldnt get DS to IL's as they live too far. These people that just dont get proper jobs and struggle through like the rest of us make me so and to top it off we have a car seat in there and it was covered in glass... no shame. Hope you get your jewellery back, our guy was caught on CCTV and is known to the local neighbourhood watch.

Incidentally, the local council have just refused permission to put gates on our estate (it is a private development) as none of the council estates have gates. That has just tipped me over the edge, going to organise a bloody petition with the residents. Ahhhhhhh.

OP posts:
becklespeckle · 03/08/2007 11:11

MrsWizz, have you found out anymore about your stolen jewellery? What did the police say? Would be most [andgry] and about the engagement ring, grrrr...
Mixedmama, awful about your car too, some people just don't care about others do they? Either that or they think so much about themselves that it doesn't occur to them how the people they are stealing from will be affected.
That's reassuring to know Caz, have been worrying that I still have a UTI but for some reason they didn't pick it up! Hopefully I have managed to flush it out and the test on Monday was the last of it. Still a bit stingy but hopefully they will check again on Tues at scan.

JARM · 03/08/2007 11:18
