Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

Hang in there everyoneGrin Dunno what's harder in the heat, being massively pregnant or coping with a newborn?

Good luck thedust tomorrow with your induction. I'd be so livid about the false start!

My induction is booked for a week today. 0 signs of labour, sweep not attempted yesterday as cervix high and closed. I'm definitely resigned to another week of pregnancy. Nesting be damned in this heat though, I'm planning a week of ice cream on the sofa.

Capybaras · 23/07/2019 10:23

@twickersmumtobe sex and long walks was definitely what got me going into labour! Must be tough in this heat - I'm struggling with what to dress baby in, and how to keep him cool!

BeckyButterfly · 23/07/2019 19:57

Hang in there everyone who is still going! The heat has been a killer today 😩

I've been really unwell. I woke at 5am (this has been the norm for a few days now) and by 6am was being violently sick ☹️ I've been sick twice and just generally feel vile. I rang the assessment unit and they said it can be a sign of labour starting but I'm not convinced. I think it's something I've eaten, it feels very much like food poisoning and I have no cramping or anything else like that. So that combined with the heat today is making for one very grumpy pregnant lady.

Due date tomorrow!

Sorry I’ve not updated!

Our beautiful boy Jude Daniel was born by ELCS on 19/7/2019 at 9.07am weighing 7lb 3oz. We are so in love with him 🥰

The c section wasn’t completely straightforward due to my low lying placenta. I lost a lot of blood and my uterus wouldn’t stop contracting so they put a balloon inside me to get it to stop and to stop the blood loss. I was then put on a special care ward for extra monitoring.

They removed the balloon 24 hours later and the bleeding had thankfully stopped. We were allowed home on Sunday afternoon. I’m feeling better than I thought I would after caesarean!

Jude sleeps great during the day but not at night. I’m breastfeeding so I’m shattered as I’m getting no more than 2 hours sleep. Sleeping when he does in the day hasn’t worked yet due to visitors or us being out!

Midwife came yesterday and was happy. He’d lost 5% of his birth weight. Seeing her again tomorrow and he’ll have the heel prick which I’m dreading!

We’re sleeping downstairs tonight as it’s far too hot in our room x

@Giraffe888 congratulations, sounds like a scary experience but an amazing outcome 🥰

@BeckyButterfly - hope you are feeling better today and maybe have your baby with you 🤷🏼‍♀️.

@Capybaras thanks for the extra tips, not sure my tankles will allow me to walk to far in this heat but anything is worth a go. Hope you have found a good way to keep you and baby cool, my friends were discussing this, nobody came up with a plan 😕

@thedust good luck with your induction today, hope it goes well, just focus on baby cuddles at the end 🤱🏼

I have my 40 week midwife appointment today so expecting conversations about sweeps and inductions. 🤔🤰🏼

BeckyButterfly · 26/07/2019 02:26

She's here! And utterly perfect 😍 established labour began at around 10:30am and by 8:47pm she was born. Gas and air plus the birthing pool got me through. As well as my amazing husband giving me back massages and head rubs. Couldn't have done it without him.
She weighed in at 8lb 4oz and her name is Eleanor Rose. I can't stop staring at her.

Baby Audrey arrived yesterday morning, 3.30am weighing 8lb 4oz. Didn't end up getting induced in the end, she decided to start making her own way here in the early hours of Wednesday morning during the storm when contractions started! Still went in for my induction appointment as they wanted to assess me, waters broke and it all escalated very quickly from there! Meconium was in the waters so had to deliver on the delivery suite. They put me on a syntocin drip to speed up contractions but baby's heart rate kept dropping with each big contraction. She was in an awkward position with her elbow up by her face. It was quite dramatic and ended with forceps and episiotomy and then getting taken down to theatre for stitches with a 3rd degree tear. Been feeding well since though despite missing that initial golden hour and skin to skin.

BeckyButterfly · 26/07/2019 11:13

Hang in there @cravingmilkshake, hopefully not long now for you! And it's all worth the wait in the end I can assure you.
I'm doing really well, thank you 🙂

@thedust sorry to hear things weren't so straight forward for you! So pleased to hear she is finally here safely though. And you did amazing! Well done you 🙂 same weight as my little bean.

twickersmumtobe · 27/07/2019 00:10

Congratulations @BeckyButterfly & @thedust hope you are all doing well.

@cravingmilkshake you are not alone, my induction will be 5/8 if nothing happens soon, naught babies are meant to be July ones not August 😉

cravingmilkshake · 29/07/2019 21:58

Hi all,

Baby Matilda was finally born 29th July at 2:06am weighing 8lb 1oz. We are happy. Was a relatively easy birth and going home tomorrow morning. Very happy ❤️
