Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

Kentishgal that sounds so positive compared with last time. I also cried like a baby when they were doing the needle - it was an emergency section in the sense she had to be out that day, but I wasn't in labour. So I remember wanting to call the whole thing off for a moment! After that it was relaxed and there was even some chatting. When they put her next to me, wow. I'll never forget that. Then things went a bit cold and dark with the blood loss but I don't really remember it. DH certainly does, all I remember is his face! I seem to have got a bit of colour back now and generally feeling more myself. Spatone is on order, thank you! Beautiful name btw.

Jxtina many congratulations! So glad it turned out well and what a beautiful name too. 💜

Our LO will be 2 weeks tomorrow. Hard to see where the time went! Health visitor coming today, not really sure what to expect, will report back.

StargazyDrifter · 11/07/2019 10:49

Yukka was it you trying out all the old wives' tales about which sex the baby is? Is there any sort of consensus from those yet?

Capybaras · 11/07/2019 11:03

Mine is up for as much as possible atm @Yukka

I need to drink more raspberry leaf tea, doesn't help that I'm not feeling hot drinks at the moment because of the heat.

Bouncing on my ball in front of the telly, great times! Come on baby!

Yukka · 11/07/2019 11:22

@StargazyDrifter yes and I've just posted on Facebook for any last minute additions. Consensus says a boy, therefore it will be a girl 😂🤦‍♀️

There are no boys in our family (6 nieces) and we're the first to not find out before birth!

Main ones are:

Heartbeats per min under 140 = boy above = girl
Chinese dating calendar - last period date and due date = boy (use online one)
weight gain (only 10lbs for me) boys use mums reserves in pregnancy, girls add to it....
Plump in the face = girl
Excessive nausea/morning sickness = girl
Completion and skin - girls create spots and breakouts, boys make it brighter
Moody mum = girl mellow mum =boy
Heartburn means a girl, none means a boy
Dad gaining weight too..? = girl

I’m still here waiting too, ‘only’ 37 weeks though so I’ll be waiting a while longer I think. My spd is horrendous now, I can’t sleep/walk/get dressed..pretty much do anything Grin have to go to physio more now. Really I’m ready for the pregnancy to be over, but there’s still some odd jobs need doing so I’m hoping he waits! I wish I could just get on with them instead of waiting for dp, but I’m in too much pain.

Congratulations to everyone!! Sorry the thread disappeared for me so I’ll need to go catch up. Hope you’re all (and your babies) well!

The Facebook group has also disappeared for me..have I been removed for some reason?

Capybaras · 11/07/2019 11:58

The spd sounds awful @Chinks123 must be so hard! Have you finished work now?

No idea about the fb group sorry - doesn't seem to be many of us left here on the thread, so not sure who's an admin for fb!

cathyj87 · 11/07/2019 12:45

I'm still here, haven't posted in forever but I've been lurking the whole time. I'm now 40+2, not uncomfortable but just want baby out to meet her! No sign of anything so far, no twinges/show/waters etc so I think she must be too comfy!
Lots of bouncing on ball, clary sage oil baths, nipple stimulation. Booked for a sweep at 40+9 and induction 40+12, really want things to go naturally so pushed the dates as far as I can while still hopefully staying in the MLU.

The FB page is still going strong, were you maybe removed for being inactive? I know it was discussed early on that people who didn't engage would be taken off after a while.

whyohwhypart2 · 11/07/2019 12:58

Hello everyone

I've not checked in for several months now, possibly since the fourth thread! Had so much going on over the last few months but finally finished work and able to put my feet up for a little bit!

This morning I woke up at my usual 3:30am feeling really hungry so had some cereal went back to bed and managed to catch up on this whole thread with a few naps inbetween Smile

So lovely to read about all the births 😍 massive congratulations to each and every one of you, loving all the names and it's making me excited for my impending arrival. 38+5 today, lots of stabby pains near the 'exit' area over the last week but nothing else really.

Nice to read that some of you are going for cloth nappies, we're trying it out here too although not feeling prepared at all on knowing what we're doing!! Going for some reusable cheeky wipes too but my mother in law despite knowing this has bought us 10 packs of stage 1,2,3,4,5 and pull ups!! Thats 10packs of each! Plus gave us a whole load of disposable wipes, I swear we have enough to last about a year! And we have no space for it all so currently waiting to up the loft 🙈 she makes me laugh, I guess if we don't need them we can give away it but oh my!

2nd baby for me but over the last few weeks anxiety over the birth has kicked in. Last time was a breeze and from waters breaking to delivery was 4 hours with no complications but for some reason I've been feeling really really scared! So I'm currently reading the positive birth book which is helping massively with alleviating the fear!

How is everyone feeling today? When I woke I was having a dream that I had a cut on my belly at the side and baby's hand was sticking out!! I could hear baby's cries and I would just hold its hand to comfort it, was very weird! Any dream experts on here? Grin

No idea if this will be a boy or a girl and the suspense is killing me!

Chinks123 · 11/07/2019 13:37

Yes @Capybaras so I can’t complain really, just trying to keep dd entertained as the 6 week holidays are starting. I’d planned to take her on a few day trips but we’re stuck in the house.

Ah @cathyj87 that’s probably it. I don’t think I’d posted in ages. Never mind I was just curious Smile Not long for you now though whatever happens, hope you manage to get it going naturally!

Starting to get a little nervous about the birth too @whyohwhypart2, this is my second aswell. I had a retained placenta this time so I’m just praying it doesn’t happen again.
I’ve been advised to have a water birth to help with the spd. I wanted one last time and wasn’t allowed, so hopefully I can this time.

Chinks123 · 11/07/2019 13:38

*retained placenta last time (obviously)

blueeyedviking · 11/07/2019 15:12

@Jxtina86 Congratulations!!! 😁

StargazyDrifter · 11/07/2019 16:14

Yukka that's an excellent round up! Looking forward to hearing your news even more now.

Jxtina86 · 11/07/2019 16:55

Thank you all! Can't stop staring at her as she finally lets me put her down for a nap. She's just too damn cute.

So to expand on earlier - after they put the pessary in, my contractions started up and they just seem to get a bit too much for Astrid to cope with. Her heart rate dropped massively a couple of times so they took out the pessary around 10ish. Contractions stopped but her heartbeat then rocketed and refused to stabilise so emergency c section was required to get her out quick. Turns out there was meconium in the waters which was causing the distress. But she's here, I'm here and that's all that matters really. It was completely the opposite of what I had set out on but like I said earlier, I actually found it all very positive. I cannot thank the staff enough from all the midwives who looked after us to the theatre staff who were bloody fantastic and made me and DH feel as comfortable as possible.

I'm up and about, catheter is out and feeling slow but okay. I honestly can't believe she's here and it's amazing!

thedust · 11/07/2019 18:21

@jxtina86 congratulations! I'm pleased it went positively for you despite the complications.

I am going into giving birth with my options open - yes, I have preferences but birth is unpredictable so I think being well informed about interventions is necessary. I said something to my mum the other day like 'if I need a cesarean...' and she was like 'why are you talking like that?!'. But I think it's naive to think that these things don't happen and that's when they can become a shock to the system.

Dog update: potential new owners came around and decided she is too much for them to take on. The breed rescue now want to put her into foster to help rehabilitate her to be ready to be rehomed but not found a suitable one yet. They have said she is fear aggressive, she did snap at the man because he kept trying to stroke her and tried to tickle behind her ear despite us saying she isn't great with strangers, especially men. She has never bitten but she does growl and snap if she isn't happy. She's not going to be easy to rehome. I feel so guilty.

BirthdayKake · 11/07/2019 18:29

Ahh congratulations @Jxtina86! Glad she's here safely xx

StargazyDrifter · 11/07/2019 20:45

Jxtina86 so glad to hear it worked out well and huge congratulations to the three of you. I also found my emergency c-section positive and feel similarly about the theatre staff. Enjoy every moment, they change so fast.

thedust you're doing your very best for the dog-o. Don't feel guilty in the slightest! And v sensible on birth options, I think that's the most balanced way.

Capybaras · 12/07/2019 07:53

How's everyone getting on? Been losing my plug the last day or so, but still no further signs of baby! Cramps are easing off too. Going to go for a curry tonight and another long walk to try and help things along!

Yukka · 12/07/2019 08:33

@Capybaras no change for me, 12 days till induction yikes it's getting close.

I was on my feet a fair bit yesterday cooking for the freezer and walked the dog, my god have I paid for it with this pgp/spd. Took paracetamol at 5am to get back to sleep.

Do I need to worry about this for the birth? I'll mention to midwife next Wednesday but wondered if anyone had any thoughts. I assume whatever pain relief will naturally work on this as well as labour!! I wonder if I should rest more between now and then.

Yukka · 12/07/2019 08:34

@Capybaras good that your loosing the plug though things are moving in the right direction for you! I feel envious :)

BeckyButterfly · 12/07/2019 08:35

@Capybaras I've been losing my plug this week as well. Me and the hubby had sex earlier this week which resulted in me having a big bleed and had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night!! They thought it might've been a bloody show but it was just my cervix being irritated. Since then though I've been losing bits of my plug. No other signs though, no cramps or anything like that so still a way to go I would say. 38+2 now and I have one more week at work to contend with. Starting to feel the strain this week mind so I think next week will be a killer! 😩 I just want to sleep all the time haha.

Chinks123 · 12/07/2019 09:06

@Yukka I decided to paint my living room by myself and I’m really really paying for it now. My spd is so bad I don’t sleep either. My midwife said pretty much lots of rest (hard with a 5 year old) and to stop doing things Grin

In terms of birth with spd I’ve been recommended a water birth to help ease the pain and joints. No pain relief last time and no spd so I’m not sure what to expect.

Capybaras · 12/07/2019 09:45

Oh no that doesn't sound good @Yukka hopefully as chinks says a water birth may help? Does spd go as soon as baby is born? (Sorry for my ignorance!)

I'm pleased things are progressing but was hoping I'd wake up in the night in labour! 40+3 now and just want baby here!

Oh gosh @BeckyButterfly that must have been stressful, glad everything is ok though. My plug started coming away after we had sex too! Obviously is the thing to get it going. Not sure whether we'll try again later to see if it gets things moving more! (Is it safe to have sex once the plug goes, is there an infection risk?)

Hope the last week in work goes quickly for you!

Yukka · 12/07/2019 10:58

Thanks @Chinks123 and@Capybaras I'm told it can go instantly when baby is born, others say it lingered a little.

I'm not allowed a water birth cos of high risk issues, that would have been my first choice, but I will ask if I can labour in a pool if one is available.

Sorry you're feeling it too @Chinks123!
Rest it is then(as much as you can!)

@BeckyButterfly you are an absolute trooper to still be working, I hope the next week goes ok and you get a few days to yourself before baby arrives!

@Capybaras as far as I'm aware no risk on infection unless waters have broke, but someone else might know more than me!

Chinks123 · 12/07/2019 11:27

I’m not sure if it goes straight away either @Capybaras, I’m hoping so. I know a lady who was on crutches in pregnancy due to spd, she’s got a newborn and I saw her in the street without crutches..so that gives me hope Grin

@Yukka I wasn’t allowed a water birth last time either, fingers crossed you can at least labour in one.

Midwife has just rung to say they have concerns about my blood work and the doctor wants to see me. I’ve had 37 easy weeks but everything seems to be going wrong at the minute.

Capybaras · 12/07/2019 12:47

Oh hope everything is ok @Chinks123 let us know how you get on.
