Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

Huge congrats @TwinkleDay!! Glad it all went well and hope you're recovering okay!

cravingmilkshake · 10/07/2019 05:48

Massive congratulations @TwinkleDay - ❤️

BirthdayKake · 10/07/2019 07:03

Congratulations @TwinkleDay! He's really small for how overdue you were!

Giraffe888 · 10/07/2019 07:18

Huge congratulations @TwinkleDay! X

qj17 · 10/07/2019 08:12

Hi ladies,
Sorry for the delayed update! So I had my first prostin at 5.30am and I was 1cm dilated and not much happened, second prostin at 1.30pm cervix was really far back so they couldn't break my waters. 9pm waters got broken and things went crazy! My gorgeous girl was born at 11.50pm 7.7.19 at 5lb 3oz. I had a retained placenta so had to go to theatre for a spinal to remove it which was disappointing and scary but it's all worth it for little Lana Violet.

Yukka · 10/07/2019 08:33

Congratulations @qj17 and @TwinkleDay a boy and a girl!l to the list :)

Shame about the retained placenta but glad it was sorted quickly for you and you can spend time now with baby.

Great names all round!

Jxtina86 · 10/07/2019 08:36

@qj17 congratulations! Gosh it definitely did go from 0-100 But glad all is well! Hope your recovery is going okay!

Jxtina86 · 10/07/2019 08:38

I'm back in the MAU after my scan - there's slightly reduced fluid so they're sticking me back on the monitor (once they find one!) whilst I wait to discuss how much longer they'll let me go.

blueeyedviking · 10/07/2019 08:50

Congratulations @qj17 and @TwinkleDay . Lovely news!

@twinkleday I dont have much advice I'm afraid. Are you breastfeeding? Is he latching on properly? Def ask the midwife support team when they come around as they will be able to help. I had issues with breastfeeding at hospital (forceps babies are harder to engage cause they tighten their mouth) and the midwives were amazing.

The amount of clothes you go through in a day people is ridiculous. The nappies I expected but wow the vests and babygrows... we are going to buy some more.

Today was my due date so it's a bit strange I have a 6 day old baby next to me... But wow, when he gazes up to me all the pain go away.

blueeyedviking · 10/07/2019 08:51

@Jxtina86 Keep us posted. I'm glad they are monitoring it!

Capybaras · 10/07/2019 10:06

Congratulations @TwinkleDay @qj17 so happy for you both!

Hope everything's ok @Jxtina86 and you get some reassurance soon.

Maybe we haven't got too many baby clothes then @blueeyedviking how many are you going through a day?

How's everyone else doing? Still getting little niggles but nothing stronger at the moment. Do feel like baby has dropped a little bit but still think he's taking his time. 40+1 now. Lots of walks for me!

GiGi18 · 10/07/2019 10:07

Congratulations @TwinkleDay and @qj17 enjoy your new bundles and hope you're recovery is going well! Sorry to hear about the retained placenta.

@TwinkleDay I am no expert and have no experience yet was talking to my friend about feeding the other day and her little boy did this. Turns out he wasn't actually feeding, just sleeping latched on. She said she went a couple months without realising. So she had to kind of hook her finger in to unlatch him. But equally my mum has said to expect the first few weeks to be full of cluster feeding as your supply is established. She said it gets easier after 6 weeks. Definitely try and get a midwife or HV to take a look if you can.

@Jxtina86 sounds like you're in the right place and you might meet your baby sooner rather than later ☺️

I'm loving logging on and seeing all this baby news, makes it all so real! I'm 38 + 4 today, still feeling period crampy but think it's just body gearing itself up. Been waking up super early every morning and just getting up but then falling asleep later on into a really deep sleep. Hope everyone else is doing well!

X

BeckyButterfly · 10/07/2019 11:27

I'm enjoying reading all the baby announcements 🙂 congratulations to all those who have had their little ones.

No news here but only 38 weeks today so still a little while till due date. I am still at work, only 7 days to go! 😁 had to go to the MAU last night because of a bleed but all was fine. I have a strong suspicion that my little one is quite comfy in there and may need coaxing out when the time comes but we shall see.

All the best to those who still have babies to come and I hope you new mummies are being well looked after.

Jxtina86 · 10/07/2019 11:42

Well this morning has been fun and games. Long story short I'm going to be induced - no idea when but most likely some point today. Just waiting for a bed on the ward. Nowhere near what I had hoped for but all I want is baby to be okay so it's the best decision to make. Fingers crossed it all gets moving soon - the anctipation is awful!

Giraffe888 · 10/07/2019 12:18

Congratulations @qj17, beautiful name!

@blueeyedviking I’d also like a rough idea how many you think you’re going through per day? Maybe we’ll need to buy more too!

blueeyedviking · 10/07/2019 12:31

@jxtina86 good luck. I hope you get a bed soon!

It really depends on how much your baby is. There has been days were we have gone through 4-5 vests and babygrows. Our challenge was that we only had 4 newborn outfits. The amount of times we have changed him and he has been sick within minutes.. you need to assume that some of your outfits are always in the wash.

Also, get enough sheets for your bedside crib. We had to change it twice last night as he was sick after a feed.

Kentishgal · 10/07/2019 12:46

Congratulations qj17 - hope you're both well.

Another baby girl born at 9:13 this morning - 8lb 4oz. No rupture / blood loss so feeling relieved. Lots of lovely dark hair.

Jxtina86 · 10/07/2019 12:54

Congrats @Kentishgal! Bless her with all her dark hair! Hope you're recovering well!

cravingmilkshake · 10/07/2019 13:10

Massive congrats @Kentishgal ❤️

Yukka · 10/07/2019 13:33

@Kentishgal that's was a quick turnaround congrats! Glad it all went well!

@Jxtina86 try not to worry about being induced, there are lots of positive stories around and you get to meet your baby soon, exciting!

I'm 37.3 today and period pains this morning, I think it's the effects of acupuncture on Monday, but think I need more rest too.

Capybaras · 10/07/2019 13:34

Congratulations @Kentishgal that's fantastic news!

My period pains have become less after my reflexology 😭

Jxtina86 · 10/07/2019 14:28

Well the pessary is in (that was an experience!) And she said that I'm now 1cm dialated already as she could feel baby's head! On we go!

Kentishgal · 10/07/2019 14:43

Ha ha yukka it was an elcs - I just couldn't bring myself to tell anyone the date as I was so petrified. Bit of a surprise to our families too!

StargazyDrifter · 10/07/2019 16:16

Oh Kentishgal so pleased to hear your news, especially after all the ups and downs this pregnancy and the high drama last time. Well done mama!

Thank you also Kentishgal for the tips on blood/iron, I "only" lost c.1.5L but that's plenty.

Would be up for a postnatal thread too.

Huge congrats also to thelonearranger, TwinkleDay and qj17. Some lovely names on here! 💜

Jxtina keeping everything crossed for you today, the main thing is that you're both safe, a birth is a bright in the end and you'll do great.

thedust happy (belated) birthday and you sound so so lovely about the dog and baby and everything, it made me all teary. Sending you hugs.

Agree with blueyedviking the babygros situation can get a bit dire. We also got more outfits and sheets. I think I read that the little muscle that keeps the stomach shut after eating is still deevoping in the early days so stuff coming back up is pretty normal. Bibs don't always catch that. We had a v funny situation the other day where I wanted to take some family photos and we probably jigged the baby around a bit too much so our came all the milk. 🙈 Our laundry basket now smells of yoghurt. Slowly working my way through that today!

cravingmilkshake · 10/07/2019 16:22

I am 38 + 3 today and have been sick once this pregnancy, however, I just went to lay down and got the sudden urge to throw up. I have now just been violently sick three times!!

Is this normal, is it a sign?
