Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

Congratulations jxtina86 . Hope all is ok chinks123. When I get a sec I'll set up post natal group and post a link here!

We got home earlier today and now settling into the new normal...! It's been interesting on the post natal ward - the night staff are angels but some of the day staff left a lot to be desired.

@Chinks123 as someone who has just gone through an easy pregnancy and then had things escalate quickly, I completely sympathise! Just take your time to assess what they say and make a decision that's right for all involved.

Kentishgal · 13/07/2019 07:08

I've set up a postnatal thread called "the July babies are here" but I can't work out how to post a link from my phone app - can anyone who is more tech savvy post a link please?

Giraffe888 · 13/07/2019 07:43

@Kentishgal have you set it up in the same sub-section as this one? Ante-natal clubs? I’m just looking for it x

Giraffe888 · 13/07/2019 07:45

Ignore me I’ve found it!

Great to hear you're home @Jxtina86 hope you and baby are settling in well!

Hope everything is ok @Chinks123

Been feeling a little bit dizzy/spaced out today. BP is fine so not really sure why. Will make sure I take it easy! How's everyone else?

Thanks for making the group @Kentishgal I'll join once baby is here (feel like I'm jinxing myself if I do before for some reason!)

Yukka · 13/07/2019 14:17

Hmmm I'm wondering if @Chinks123 got taken in. Hope everything is ok.

Same as you @Capybaras I can't move threads till baby is here :) I'm feeling totally exhausted today, done the food shop and a bit of tidying but I'm gonna be on the sofa for the rest of the day!

Deff rest too if you're feeling a bit dizzy, I guess it's normal at the stage we're at to be feeling it!

Capybaras · 14/07/2019 09:34

I think you're right about chinks @Yukka , hoping everything is ok with her!

Had a chilled day and felt much better, I've really scaled back what I'm doing now! How are you feeling as d-day gets closer? Are trying to get yourself to go naturally before then or just happy with the induction?

How's everyone else doing?

Was having strong cramps in my pelvis yesterday evening but they've stopped now. I think my body is just testing everything out before it decides to go into labour. Going to go for a walk and pub lunch with friends today so hopefully the walk will do something!

Giraffe888 · 14/07/2019 10:21

I’ve got 5 days to go until c-sec. feels strange counting down and knowing when it’s happening!

The last few days I keep having dizzy/sick spells and sharp pains across bottom of my bump.

Going to do some cleaning this morning then watch tennis this afternoon x

Yukka · 14/07/2019 10:32

@capybaras Glad you feel better sounds like a nice day planned ahead :) I rested a lot too yesterday and slept well last night so going to do a few jobs but nothing much else

Good that your body is practicing!

I'm ok with induction but I'm doing what I can to bring it on or at least be 'ready'. Between massages and acupuncture and raspberry leaf tea etc, we'll see! I'm 38w today and I don't feel like baby is trying to get out so to speak, there's a downward pull but that's about it!

Capybaras · 14/07/2019 12:13

Oh how is the acupuncture @Yukka I've never tried it but always wanted to!
It's great that you're so chilled about it, as they say baby will come when baby is ready!

I've had a few dizzy spells @Giraffe888 but felt ok after some rest. Could be worth contacting midwife if you're not feeling right though!

thedust · 14/07/2019 17:52

It's my due date today! We waved our dog off this morning and have had some updates already which have made me feel better. It was very hard yesterday and this morning, especially seeing DH sobbing his heart out, never seen him cry like that.

But now we feel fully focused on the baby and the next stage of our lives. If she could come pretty soon that would be a welcome distraction as the house does feel quite quiet at the moment (I know I should enjoy the peace as it won't last for long!) Hope everyone else waiting for babies is doing well.

Yukka · 14/07/2019 18:03

Well done @thedust it was always going into be hard but you did the right thing. I'm glad it wasn't a long drawn out process for you. Our dog is 8 and very placid and used to children , I couldn't imagine a young baby and a young dog, it could be a nightmare.

@Capybaras I'm a firm believer in acupuncture after she helped my cycles get back to normal after recurrent mc's last year, I had 6 months of craziness and in month one of treatment cycle was normal, month 2 I fell pregnant again :) so I've been seeing her ever since. She's also a retired midwife, did 40yrs in the nhs so shes well placed! After last Monday I had cramps and pains for 2 days and strong Braxton hicks, going back again tomorrow, but her plan is to get my cervix and uterus ready for induction rather than fully induce labour as I have complications and need monitoring during birth and she doesn't want to interfere with that.

Some women have literally just been to see her at the end of pregnancy for treatment and gave birth within 24hrs!

Giraffe888 · 15/07/2019 09:30

@thedust I’m glad you found a nice suitable new home for your dog, no doubt it will make you feel better knowing they’ve got a nice home x

I’ve been in the back garden cutting down laurel this morning. Going to walk to my midwife appointment now.

I can now say I’m having a baby this week 😮🥰

GiGi18 · 15/07/2019 10:07

Our beautiful daughter Melody was born at 6.52pm yesterday 14th July, weighing 6lbs 12oz. Wee toot! I thought she was going to be at least 8lbs. We are still in hospital and are getting the hang of feeding but potentially getting home later today 🤞 I have had a few issues with my pulse so need to be signed off by the doc but I feel absolutely great.

I went into labour at 38 plus 6 on Friday night. Got admitted at 3cm at 1am on Sunday morning, had horrific contractions which I had to get diamorphine to get through. I got to 7cm on the ward before being admitted to delivery, eventually pushing her out using just gas and air. I surprised even myself not getting the epidural. I actually found the first stage of labour so much more challenging than the active stage. By the pushing I was almost completely out of energy and on bags of fluid coz it was so hot and my pulse was high. It was a long, tough, and knackering experience but ultimately positive and the support has been brilliant!

Hope all you still pregnant ladies are hanging in there - not long till it's your turn!

Wee pic of Melody coz she's a doll!

Giraffe888 · 15/07/2019 10:19

Congratulations! I love her name too x

thedust · 15/07/2019 10:29

Congratulations @gigi! Beautiful name too. Hope you are well and home soon.

Had an update video of our dog from the rescue, she looked so happy running around their field, she is getting a much better life than what we could provide her.

40+1 today...no signs of baby. Booked in for an induction on the 24th but it is just the pessary I can be sent home with. Not really stressing about it, my baby will come when my baby is ready. A few days to decompress from the dog stress will do us good really. Can't believe July is over halfway done now! Can't wait to join the postnatal thread but sticking to here now. Half the babies from my NCT have arrived now so getting some insights into newborn life from them.

Jxtina86 · 15/07/2019 10:56
