I couldn't see a new thread so started one, hope that's OK.

Massive congratulations @swiftfox. So exciting to have our first baby!

He is lovely @coastergirl

Napssavelives · 22/06/2019 09:14

In still pregnant. Induction booked for Wednesday. Had a sweep yesterday, apparently cervix softer and 1cm dilated now although it’s all a bit subjective when you have a different midwife each time . No signs of labour. Baby seems a bit quiet, he is moving just movements seem a bit more spaced out. I don’t know if I’m worrying for nothing and just overly anxious with it been close to the end .

Napssavelives · 23/06/2019 12:40

Been admitted to antenatal ward to wait for an induction bed. Baby quiet, heart rate a bit high on ctg too. He settled down but I’m not feeling over reassured about movement. Hopefully it won’t be too long.

DinoMamasaurus · 23/06/2019 13:57

Good luck @Napssavelives everything crossed that it all goes smoothly for you and you are cuddling baby before you know it

KoalasAteMyHomework · 23/06/2019 17:03

Hope you're ok @Napssavelives and that things start to happen and go smoothly.

Congratulations on all the new arrivals everyone!

Bizawit · 23/06/2019 17:03

Good luck @napsaveslives!!

Napssavelives · 23/06/2019 17:17

Thanks. Had a sweep around 12 and just had bloody show. Baby still not overly active, Odd kick and that’s about it. I wild have thought they’d do another ctg at some point? Who knows, midwife not spoken to me, someone did my BP and that was it really

Ksjourney · 23/06/2019 17:44

Baby girl came on the 19th June by booked in c section in the end. Mourned my natural virth but baby had her own ideas. No name yet but really happy she is here healthy and happy.

Congratulations to all the new arrivals!

@Napssavelives don't take no for an answer go back in for reduced movement and if baby moves but when you get home you are worried and notice a change then go back in again. And again and again.

Bigonesmallone3 · 24/06/2019 05:17

Baby is now 2 days late 😭
I have a sweep this afternoon.. been having irregular tightenings for over 24hrs and lost plug this morning so hopefully it's not far off

Napssavelives · 24/06/2019 05:31

He’s here! 9. 1cm at 11pm born by 3am.,

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 24/06/2019 07:01

Oh @Napssavelives I’ve been waiting for this YAYYYYYY YOU ROCK!

And congrats @Ksjourney (take the time to process that labour in time)

And @coastergirl what a wee poppet

Ksjourney · 24/06/2019 08:46

Thanks @PaulHollywoodsSexGut in the end it's important I and baby are well and recovering. Glad I was warned about the afterpains with baby #2 though! Wowsers!

toomanyflatwhites · 24/06/2019 09:10

Hurray hurray @Napssavelives! Amazing he's here, hope the speedy arrival wasn't too traumatic. I had a 4 hour labour start to finish (last time was 30 hours) and found it took me a bit of time to process it because it was so quick.

Heyha · 24/06/2019 09:42

Brill, more babies!! Well done girls 😀
I'm currently mid-induction, nearly 24 hours in so awaiting an examination. It seems like slow but steady progress to me.

LivingOnAPear · 24/06/2019 10:20

So happy for you @Napssavelives I’ve not been on here and was wondering how you were getting on and hoping the baby was here.

Congratulations @Ksjourney.
I feel a bit the same about my dd birth. I regret being induced as the whole thing was taken over by the hospitals procedures and rules. It didnt help my dh showing me a photo of the lovely birthing pool room when I was stuck in a very clinical delivery room. I think it takes a while to feel better when the birth doesn’t work out as you hoped. And omg the after pains! No one warned me about that.

@coastergirl massive congratulations, super cute.

Ksjourney · 24/06/2019 10:42

I am disappointed though more relieved that she is here safe and well. But I had the natural birth with my daughter and though intense I have nice memories of the experience.

May have to just convince DH to try for one more?? Though it will be a VBAC so I think my midwife led birth plan is probably out of the window for all future deliveries now too.

Actually laughed at myself for even considering another one when I am literally in the brutality of the post natal period of pregnancy...

LivingOnAPear · 24/06/2019 11:55

Not necessarily @ksjourney. I know people who have had home Vbacs and birthing centres. I’m definitely not having another one.

@Heyha it can be such a slow process can’t it especially as you have to wait for each stage. Hope you are ok.

Napssavelives · 24/06/2019 12:14

Feel like superwoman today, on a real high. Off home soon, just going to have my sticky toffee pudding lunxh before hand :)

Ksjourney · 24/06/2019 13:15

Ooh good to know! Going to give it a few years though and maybe seriously consider what I'm asking myself to go through again when I'm not flooded with maternal hormones

coastergirl · 24/06/2019 16:22

Oh my goodness the afterpains! Totally shocked me. They are horrendous. I got them for about 24 hours, starting about 48 hours after he was born. Is that normal? Having never experienced labour, they really took me by surprise.

We ended up staying in much longer than expected as little one was showing some signs of withdrawal from my meds. Finally got home yesterday and it feels amazing.

Congratulations on all the new arrivals!

Ksjourney · 24/06/2019 18:14

Hey @coastergirl I didn't get after pains with Dd#1 so this is my first experience. For me pains started day 1 and continued till day 3 but Day 2 was the absolute worst. I was told breastfeeding brings them on strongly and fast because of the oxytocin. Why does my body think it is acceptable to shrink my uterus in 3 days when it took 9 months to grow it??? What nature expects us women to go through is truly barbaric!

Napssavelives · 25/06/2019 02:27

Sore nips! Can’t see any damage and he’s fed constantly since birth so I’m hoping it’s just over use. It’s the first couple of mins of a feed then it settles.

Bigonesmallone3 · 25/06/2019 08:08

Three days over and seriously fed up 😭

toomanyflatwhites · 25/06/2019 11:15

From what I've read and been told by MW, afterpains are more severe for second and each subsequent birth. I don't remember getting them after DD was born but have had pains this time - weirdly they seemed to start when he was a week old!
@Napssavelives I definitely had this too, I think it's only natural for your nips to hurt when you suddenly get a tiny terrapin attached after a break of several years! We are 10 days in and it's a weird mix of pain and relief when he latches and then ok after that.
DS seems to only need to feed for 5-10 minutes at a time (occasionally more), I fed DD until she was 19 months and EVERY FEED was 45min-1 hour (including 2 a night up until the end), what I can't remember is if she always had long feeds from the beginning. If DS continues with these 10 minute feeds I'll happily feed him forever!! (I reserve the right to withdraw this statement at a moments notice though...)

KoalasAteMyHomework · 25/06/2019 12:25

I've also been told the after pains can be horrendous, and it's worse with each child you have. Ds2 is 2 weeks old now so hoping I've skipped the after pains - fingers crossed!

Congratulations naps, pleased baby is finally here
