I couldn't see a new thread so started one, hope that's OK.

Massive congratulations @swiftfox. So exciting to have our first baby!

Without wishing to come across as a fucking tosser here @Napssavelives that sounds like a bishops zero to me - as that’s the state I was in at 41+0 with DD1 and that ended up with a CS. The midwife at my failed sweep scored me two, revised down to zero on admittance to antenatal ward for induction.

I digress.

Tell your midwife everything and push for a CS if you have the backup to help you in the immediate term after delivery (if that will ease the misery of waiting and lower the risk of annoying intervention).

Good luck @napssavelives heaven knows you need a break.

WeeBean · 19/06/2019 05:12

Post feed night time cuddles with Rory Jack who was born via ELCS (fantastic experience, so relaxed!) yesterday morning (18th) weighing 7lbs 13.5oz 💙 Excuse the bags under my eyes, I've had less than an hour's sleep since 5am yesterday, post natal wards are hell but this is pure bliss, we're completely besotted by him.

Hope those of you overdue aren't waiting too much longer! @Napssavelives I'm thinking about you!

Congratulations @weebean what a beautiful little boy and a great name x

LivingOnAPear · 19/06/2019 07:19

Congratulations @WeeBean

@Kimbishop86 I can’t remember exactly when the stinging went for me as had one 3.5 years ago but it didn’t take too long. Have you checked it’s healing properly? I had baths in salt and tea tree oil to help it heal.

Heyha · 19/06/2019 08:38

So many babies! Well done girls 🙂 I'm 39+6 today and no sign whatsoever but loving seeing all these updates.
Midwife on Friday so will see if I'm likely to be having a July baby after all....

hexagon01 · 19/06/2019 09:37

Hello to the new babies 👋🏼

@Napssavelives reeeeeally hoping it all works out for you, you absolutely deserve some luck and as stress free a delivery as possible 🤞🏼

I’m lying in bed, baby is downstairs with my partner but I can’t sleep! Despite having barely any sleep and being completely exhausted. I just want to sleeep.

Napssavelives · 19/06/2019 09:43

Thanks everyone. Have growth scan at 2pm so will see what the plan is. Going to take my hospital bag just in case.

fee1234 · 19/06/2019 10:04

@Kimbishop86 I'm now 11 days post birth and my episiotomy is still a bit sore but not as unbearable as it was. I actually ended up with an infection at the end of last week and am on antibiotics, it just wasn't getting any better and started leaking fluid (sorry tmi)!

Please make sure to show it to the midwife when they are out visiting you, they will be able to tell if it's healing properly. It does get a bit better but just takes time, I'm still sore to sit down. I started monitoring how it was looking with a hand mirror and can see it's much better than it was last week.

LivingOnAPear · 19/06/2019 13:04

I’m a bit gutted I’m being induced with propess rather than having the home water birth I wanted. I’ve just left hospital and am in the pub then I’m going to go home and go back to hospital to give birth. After they put it in they started talking about what happens if it doesn’t work and how I’m on the induction pathway now. Now I’m wishing I’d declined it. But today was the last day they would do it as an outpatient so I felt under pressure. Just read notes and bishops score is low so I’m a bit concerned it’s not going to work.

Napssavelives · 19/06/2019 13:34

@LivingOnAPear fingers crossed it works and baby will be here soon, will be thinking of you.

I’ve just parked up at the hospital, hospital bag and car seat in boot just in case they aren’t happy with growth and want to get him out. Feeling exhausted, so unbelievably done and I’m not how I’m going to even have the strength to give birth. I’m going to have a good chat with drs if they suggestion induction about likelihood of it working and whether c section is better. The thought of been strapped to a bed and having to have a forceps delivery terrifies me , I know it’s nobody’s ideal but I know it would fuck with my head (history of sexual trauma ) . I need to come out if this in as good a mental place as possible.

Napssavelives · 19/06/2019 17:22

Baby growing fine. Currently 7lb5oz. Not convinced I’ll go unto labour and pretty sure I’ll end up being induced next week

LivingOnAPear · 19/06/2019 20:35

@Napssavelives glad your baby is growing ok. I think things can change very quickly with your cervix so hopefully it will all start naturally for you.

Napssavelives · 19/06/2019 21:17

@LivingOnAPear hows the induction going? Propess doing anything?

DinoMamasaurus · 19/06/2019 21:31

@Napssavelives good news that they are happy with the growth scan. Fingers crossed you will go into labour naturally - mine certainly went from zero to 100 with no advance signs! Really hope you can catch a break with this and have the birth that you want.

I know people have different views on birth plans but with both of mine I really felt they took what I wanted into account. You can be very clear no forceps and they have to respect that. I had attempted forceps with my first (which ended in a EMCS) and I said no forceps this time and they accepted that.

It might be the c section would be a better option if it’s that or induction as it’s more predictable. Having had the EMCS I wasn’t worried about having another one and what the recovery would involve even with a preschooler to factor in (although this baby of course had other ideas so we didn’t get as far as the ELCS). It probably is a longer period of recovery but from my experience of CS it is less acute than the initial period after a rough vaginal birth (PPH, tear, episiotomy, mega bruised bum!)

No sure if any of that was helpful. But even if you don’t feel like it - you have totally got this! Stay strong and channel your inner mama bear.

@Kimbishop86 & @fee1234 I’m on day 22 and my episiotomy is no longer stinging. I’ve been off the painkillers for a good while and can once again sit/move comfortably. I do still feel it a bit if I stand on the spot for too long but given how painful it was in the beginning it’s SO SO SO much better.

Kimbishop86 · 19/06/2019 21:33

@fee1234 thank you for the information I'm 7 days PP now and it is slightly better thankfully. I did have it checked Monday and apparently it's healing well so I guess it is just time and waiting and seeing! Must drink more though as I barely pee now what with the dehydration from BF as well so that's bound to make it sting more too!!

Kimbishop86 · 19/06/2019 21:37

And @DinoMamasaurus ! X

LivingOnAPear · 19/06/2019 21:50

@Napssavelives I’ve had a few minor contractions and pains but don’t think it’s kicked in yet. Just hope it bloody works now that I’ve opened the whole can of worms.
Just done a bump photo shoot with dh and going to watch rom coms in the birthing pool and try not to flood the house. There’s a precarious hose going from upstairs bathroom to living room.

Heyha · 20/06/2019 12:19

Crikey @Holly257that sounds scary but brilliant all at the same time!
Due today, coccyx is killing me and I've had a bit of period pain but still not even had my show. I think I'll be keeping my 40 week appointment with the midwife tomorrow, somehow 🙄

Bigonesmallone3 · 20/06/2019 20:35

I'm so happy jealous for everyone that's had there babies.. :)
I'm due on Saturday.. third baby and I really didn't think I would make it this far seen as second baby was born at 38+5 (induced tho)
First baby was bang on time , so let's see if this one follows suit..
I'm pretty done with this pregnancy and praying my home birth plan works out 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Heyha · 20/06/2019 21:04

I've made a thread about my fat feet (triage say ok to wait til midwife in morning) and I don't think I'm measuring any bigger either so I've got a nasty feeling my 9.30 routine 40 week appointment is going to turn into an all day/weekend epic 🙄 hope I'm wrong!!

Napssavelives · 21/06/2019 07:29

41 weeks today. Midwife this morning for j presume another failed sweep and talk of induction . Both my boys were here by now. Fed up.

2countries1bump · 21/06/2019 09:25

@Napssavelives @Heyha @Bigonesmallone3 Sorry you are all still waiting on babies- I hope they hurry up! I still don't think I'm over the shock of my DS arriving early I was so sure she'd at least go to term as a first baby. Feeding is still slowly improving but I have a lot of guilt that we are topping up with formula. I know it's crazy to have guilt over these things but I was hoping that breast would be enough.

coastergirl · 21/06/2019 10:01

My little boy was born yesterday morning weighing 7lbs 5.5oz, by ELCS. They struggled to get the spinal in so that took ages, then the op itself took far longer than the first time around. But he's here, healthy and adorable. Very much in love and hoping to get home later on today.
