I couldn't see a new thread so started one, hope that's OK.

Massive congratulations @swiftfox. So exciting to have our first baby!

PS. Congratulations @lstef - great news!

hexagon01 · 13/06/2019 02:52

Oh my god - night 2 and I’m into hour 12 of cluster feeding. She won’t be put down. I know this is “normal” newborn behaviour but wow it’s hard.

LivingOnAPear · 13/06/2019 07:13

Congrats to all the new arrivals.

I’m 40 + 6 today. Had a failed sweep yesterday (cervix was too far back) and she’s booked me in for induction on weds. Feeling gutted that my body isn’t doing what it’s supposed to do but I suppose I have nearly a week to go into labour still.

WeeBean · 13/06/2019 07:52

Congrats on the new babies!!

I had my final growth scan and pre op appointment yesterday, baby is measuring 7lbs 7. I'm now thinking I should maybe repack his hospital bag, was expecting him to be massive because of GD, although I know these scans are never 100% accurate. Countdown for Tuesday and C-section is on!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 13/06/2019 07:53

Has she been checked for tongue tie @hexagon01

fee1234 · 13/06/2019 08:33

@hexagon01 i was the same, he spent 4/5 hours cluster feeding non stop. One of the midwives came in and said it's because they know the milk is coming in soon and are trying to bring it down? My milk came in the next day after the cluster feeding but it was very tiring so I feel for you.

I used it as an opportunity to try different positions, lying on my side in bed was a good one because it wasn't painful on my stitches and I could get a bit of rest.

Kimbishop86 · 13/06/2019 10:10

@2countries1bump turns out I was very much in labour! I got home from visiting relatives at about 7 and by 8:30 we were driving back again as I had some bleeding and contractions every 3-5 mins! By the time I got assessed I was already 7-8cm! And then baby arrived about 2-2.5 hours later! Was hard work, but baby boy is beautiful! Good luck for you!! Hope it all happens soon! X

Napssavelives · 13/06/2019 13:15

@Kimbishop86 congratulations!

toomanyflatwhites · 13/06/2019 13:25

Congratulations @Kimbishop86 and also nice to see you back @lstef - I expect life is very busy right now with two!!
@LivingOnAPear I just had my second attempted sweep - first was on Tuesday and no way could she reach. Today she said it was a little better positioned but still very high/far back and she could only just catch the edge of it (so could do something, but not a good sweep). I'm 39+6 but booked for pessary as stage one of induction tomorrow because of my age, and not hopeful that today's mini prod is going to do anything!!

Heyha · 13/06/2019 15:03

I really need to check this thread more often- lots of lovely news, well done to all! 39 weeks here so still a bit behind a lot of you but no sign of anything happening. Feeling ok though so no rush yet. Terrified and encouraged by all the birth stories in equal measure!

LivingOnAPear · 13/06/2019 17:17

@toomanyflatwhites good luck, you never know. It might have triggered something. All the best for tomorrow anyway.

I had a reflexology induction today and it felt amazing. It might not have helped trigger labour yet but I just feel so much more relaxed and happy than I did this morning. I practically floated home afterwards.

Congratulations @Kimbishop86. That sounds like an amazingly short labour.

toomanyflatwhites · 13/06/2019 17:38

Thanks @LivingOnAPear - pretty sure absolutely nothing is happening though, and now worrying about how on earth my poor mum is going to entertain DD (3) over the weekend if we end up being in hospital then - which looks likely. Am kicking myself I didn't book reflexology or acupuncture too, there just wasn't a day that seemed to make sense to do it and now I think I have left it too late 🤦‍♀️

LivingOnAPear · 13/06/2019 18:35

@toomanyflatwhites. I’m sure your mum will be fine but I know how you feel. I have dd age 3 who is a bit of a challenge at the moment. You can look up pressure points online if you want to give it a go. There’s one on your ankle and between your thumb and index finger.

I was just saying to my dh that the problem these days is that there’s loads of advice about things to do to induce labour or prepare your body to give birth (optimal fetal positioning, alternative therapies etc) that you can feel like it’s your fault for not doing enough. I’m annoyed at myself that I didn’t do exercises to get the baby in the right position sooner and that I seem to be having a repeat of my last pregnancy as a result.

Napssavelives · 14/06/2019 04:46

Happy due date to me, no baby, no signs. Royally fucked off with the shitness of this year and feel like I deserve a break! So come on baby , please hurry up.

Good luck with your induction today @toomanyflatwhites, will be thinking of you

Fizzytonicplease · 14/06/2019 07:15

Congrats on those whose babies have arrived, i hope its not too long a wait for everyone else.

I'am 37+5 today and DS1 was born at 37+6 but no signs of this one making an apperence. Got my final growth scan today.

toomanyflatwhites · 14/06/2019 11:02

Happy twinny due date @Napssavelives! Is there any suggestion you will be induced or do you need to wait and see?
I have been out back by several hours at least as the MLU are too busy for me to go in this morning as planning, gah! Dunno what to do with myself but DP and DM driving me crazy already!

Napssavelives · 14/06/2019 11:46

Will be booked in at 40+12 although I better not go that over!

Frustrating about the MLU, hopefully they’ll be able to get you in soon!

toomanyflatwhites · 14/06/2019 18:11

Fingers crossed for you it will be MUCH sooner than that @Napssavelives!
We had a bit of a waiting around day and eventually got a call this afternoon asking us to come in, so have had the CTG and now just waiting for the doctor to come and give the pessary. Slightly annoying I was asked last week if I wanted it as outpatient or inpatient but it wasn't fully explained to me that outpatient means a 24 hour pessary (whereas I think inpatient then means the stronger one). Not sure if I would have made the same decision knowing that (or maybe I would, who knows!!) but anyway we're here now!

fee1234 · 14/06/2019 19:13

Having a right sore time of it, my stitches are a bit infected so on antibiotics and to go back in on Monday, if it's not healing then they will have to reopen the wound. I woke up during the night drenched in sweat and knew something just wasn't right! Postpartum recovery is hard. Hope everyone else is doing okay x

2countries1bump · 15/06/2019 17:22

Catching up as well. Our little girl was born Thursday evening just under a week early. The labour felt a bit epic with all the induction stages but ended up just a shade over 28hrs all in. Very relieved to have got her here safely. She was 3.45kg and delivered by forceps in theatre due to some awkward positioning. We are just waiting to finish up and leave hospital after 2 nights in. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

hexagon01 · 15/06/2019 18:24

Oh @fee1234 that sounds really rough.

Congrats @2countries1bump, hope you settle at home :)

@toomanyflatwhites hope things have got going now!

I’m having a major baby blues day today. It hits me at teatime every day but today is particularly bad - milk is coming in I think! Surprisingly breastfeeding is going really well this time, but the baby will not sleep anywhere but on me or my partner at night, and that complete lack of sleep is not compatible with also parenting a 2 year old. Hence burnout and major sobbing and anxiety. But I remember it from last time and I know that it ends. Hopefully soon.

toomanyflatwhites · 16/06/2019 06:03

Congratulations @2countries1bump and yay for going home!

Baby boy born yesterday teatime 4 hours and 5 minutes after my first contraction!!! Weighing 3.7kg and born in his sac, I was sure I would need an epidural and to leave the MLU but midwives were brilliant, tens machine and leaning on a ball breathing clary sage and lavender got me through the first few hours, had morphine jab after 3ish and was 8cm by 4ish - has been feeling like i needed to push and like I could feel a big change - like an opening - but it seemed way too quick! Moved to the floor after the examination as my legs were getting tired, still leaning on the ball and up on my knees, and he was born like that in his waters - I felt like a warrior!! Had a little tear and a few stitches and feel like a total space cadet but otherwise doing ok and actually managed about 4 hours sleep, hoping to get home today!

Napssavelives · 16/06/2019 06:31

@toomanyflatwhites I’ve been thinking about you! congratulations, so glad everything went well. Hope you get home soon.

I’m still waiting , haven’t lost anymore of my plug- think that must of been from a bit of dislodging from my sweep on Tuesday. No real signs - having periods where I get strong BH but they don’t get any stronger or regular. Over this.

2countries1bump · 16/06/2019 06:58

Thanks for all the good wishes. Being home is great but like others a touch of baby blues/hormonal craziness. Breast feeding is not going well for us yet. She's either super sleepy and won't suckle or starving and gets frustrated that there's only a little colostrum coming out. We've been topping up with formula via a cup feed but DH and I can't decide how much or how often and whether it's helping or not. All in all still stressful. Hoping milk comes in today and improves the situation. Oh and so sleep, that would help too!

LivingOnAPear · 16/06/2019 08:56

@2countries1bump I had a very similar birth with my dd and my milk was delayed coming in too but I didn’t realise at first and thought I was doing something wrong. I think it’s harder with a big hungry baby. We topped up with formula too. Hope you start to feel better soon and get some sleep.
