I couldn't see a new thread so started one, hope that's OK.

Massive congratulations @swiftfox. So exciting to have our first baby!

@toomanyflatwhites I also feel more normal and mobile than last time! I was expecting the opposite so I'm pleased. Having said that I was asleep by 8.45 last night...

allfurcoatnoknickers · 15/05/2019 17:02

@toomanyflatwhites Someone gave up their seat to me on the subway yesterday and I almost fainted from the shock Grin

WeeBean · 15/05/2019 19:23

Growth scan today at 34+5 put baby at 5lbs10, though his head is huge! It measured at 39w1d, the consultant measured it 4 times to be sure! She said it was nothing to worry about, some babies just have big heads. His da has a big head 🙄 Also have to have insulin before lunch now.

Agreed a C-section, signed the form and will get a date at my next appointment in 2 weeks ☺️

rollerskaterdata · 16/05/2019 10:55

@WeeBean that made me laugh 😂 baby sounds a good size!

Still jealous of those with c section/induction dates, I'm 38 weeks now and just over being pregnant if I'm honest 😫

WeeBean · 16/05/2019 12:01

@rollerskaterdata He's forever burning about not being able to get hats to fit his head 😂

Sosie91 · 16/05/2019 13:27

Due with my third girl on the 5th June and I am so ready for this little one to join us. Anyone else googling how to bring on labour? X

Kescilly · 16/05/2019 13:54

Well, they’re still worried that I have gestational diabetes and I am now scheduled for my fourth test. Feeling rather depressed about it, to be honest.

toomanyflatwhites · 16/05/2019 14:15

@Kescilly sorry you're feeling low...hope you can get through the dreaded test (4 times, gahhh!!) you poor thing. Also it seems weird not seeing your name in blue!!
@Sosie91 I'm due on 14th and really keen not to go over as then I will be induced (because if my age) - but also really don't want the baby to come early as I'm not ready!! Have you read up on eating dates? There is some clinical research showing that it's the one thing that can help open the cervix.
I might also try reflexology or acupuncture if I get to a few days before my due date without anything happening.

hexagon01 · 16/05/2019 14:16

I feel for you @kescilly, can they even do much about it at this late stage, especially with your section already booked (for quite soon isn’t it??). One of my colleagues was diagnosed with GD a week before she gave birth, I think she was just very stressed for a week and then her baby was born perfectly healthy and at a normal weight (much less than my baby!) after them thinking he was going to be very large. Good luck with it!

hexagon01 · 16/05/2019 14:18

Oh my god I ate so many dates last time!! Was still a week overdue so I guess they didn’t work for me. I really like them but I haven’t touched them since.

Napssavelives · 16/05/2019 14:21

I’m so done too. Because of stress I’ve been off work ages I’m bored and fed up. I have a repeat scan Monday and hopefully then we can make a plan.

Kescilly · 16/05/2019 15:10

@toomanyflatwhites and @hexagon01 thanks. My section is booked for the 28th, so that’s less than two weeks away. By the time I have the test and am diagnosed, I’d only have a week left. I asked the midwife what they’d do and she said I’d probably end up diet controlled since they wouldn’t have time for medication. But how much time could there even be for me to see the doctor?

I am feeling stressed now that I’ve been harming the baby and didn’t know it. I know that undiagnosed GD can increase the risk of stillbirth, which I’ve already been worried about. I feel like I’m going to be really anxious until she’s out. Plus they’re saying she’s even bigger now and I feel really guilty.

The doctor didn’t seem to know much. She basically left it up to me if I wanted to be tested or not. I asked if they’d check the baby’s glucose levels at birth if I wasn’t diagnosed and she said yes, but then the midwife corrected her and said no. So I said I’d do the test since I want the baby to get the best possible care.

I also just found out that my dad had a small stroke. He’s okay, but there’s a chance of it happening again and he obviously won’t be able to come and meet the baby now. I feel paranoid because both my mom and MIL lost a parent when they were in their third trimesters and living in different countries than their parents. I felt so lucky that both of my parents could be here for the birth.

Bizawit · 16/05/2019 15:19

Oh no @kescilly, but they've tested you and you've passed so many times! If there were an issue surely it would have been identified by now. Sounds like you just have a big baby!

Also - exciting that you have less than two weeks to go..!

rollerskaterdata · 16/05/2019 16:04

@WeeBean 😂 he's in fairly good company, I also have a big head and struggle to find hats that fit! 🤣

@Kescilly sorry you're going through so much stress at this late stage. I have no experience of GD so just wanted to reach out and hand hold, and also big hugs regarding your dad. Sounds very positive it was only a small one and here's hoping it doesn't happen again

So my sweep today was a success (in that the midwife was able to do it). Cervix is still posterior but is very soft, only 1cm long and 1cm dilated. So now I'm sitting and waiting to see if anything happens!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 16/05/2019 16:33

Had a scan and a consultant appointment today...and the baby is breech Hmm not just breech, one leg jammed up against his face and the other hanging down, so an incomplete footling breech?!

On the plus side the ultrasound tech said he had a great set of lungs on him - she was very excited to point out how perfect they were. Couldn't see his face though because his hands and a bloody leg were in the way!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 16/05/2019 17:50

I’m having my baby on Monday. 37+1. Mind blown.

Fucking hell.

Ksjourney · 16/05/2019 17:53

Omg PHSG that is crazy! Atleast you have a few days to get everything ready, clean the house and have a little me time before baby comes! Hair cut? Pedicure?

WeeBean · 16/05/2019 18:00

@PaulHolywoodsSexGut Eeek! Exciting! How are you doing?

@Kescilly sorry you're having such a rough time 😢 Where I am they seem to give you 2 weeks of diet control to see how you get on, they won't have a chance to do much more than that with your section booked but at least they've been keeping an eye on baby. I know it's scary but those extra scans are there to watch out for things and you'll be in good hands. Worth getting tested to make sure they test baby at birth if it's necessary, can't believe they wouldn't just test anyway when you've already had 3 GTTs! My Nannie had a couple of mini strokes and made a full recovery each time, fingers and toes crossed for your dad and hopefully there won't be any more and he can meet the baby soon. It must be so hard being in a different country!

Napssavelives · 16/05/2019 18:20

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut how exciting! Enjoy this weekend before baby comes!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 16/05/2019 19:37

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut Wow that's exciting!!

How are you feeling about it all?

I'm the magic 37 weeks tomorrow. Come on baby! 🤞

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 16/05/2019 21:10

I feel really badly shaken up and the side effects of the drugs are so bad I’m in permanent pain (across my teeth and face) and have the shakes.

I’m in a state of total disbelief that I am in the situation I am in to be honest, and whilst of course I am relieved that all seems well with baby I’m just so completely shell shocked I can’t think straight.

As ridiculous as this may sound I wanted this birth to almost exorcise the troubling delivery of DC2. The reverse is happening.

I just want my baby to be ok. That is literally all I have for now. I just want her to get out and be fine.

rollerskaterdata · 16/05/2019 21:47

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut I don't think that's ridiculous at all, makes total sense. I feel the same way. It's almost like we want a better birth experience this time to 'make up' for the no so ideal one last time if that's the right way to put it. You're being so strong and literally at the last hurdle, you can do this and you've got all of us here behind you x

HoneyPea · 16/05/2019 22:25

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut sorry you are in pain but think on the positive side not long left!

@allfurcoatnoknickers Have you been offered an ECV? I went to the midwife today and she thinks baby is breech so was telling me about the ECV. I already have a scan on Tuesday to check if my low lying placenta has moved but now she wants to also check if baby is Breech.

@rollerskaterdata glad the sweep went well.

@Kescilly at least you only have 2 more weeks, try not to worry (although I know we all are all of the time and probably won't ever stop!)

Heyha · 16/05/2019 23:01

Yay I found us! Congrats @swiftfox your post on the last thread made me feel much better about the prospect of labour.

And looks like @paul will be baby number two 😀

I feel much more myself than I thought I would but baby is starting to drop, so I might rethink my plan to finish work at 38 weeks...week 37 is half term so if I finish next Friday (but technically the week after) I'll only be 36 weeks and I'm worried I'll be bored waiting for what could go up to 6 weeks!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 17/05/2019 04:34

@HoneyPea I got offered an ECV but decided against it, because 1) It (to me) sounded way more horrifying than a c-section 2) I hate the idea of going into pre-term labour 3) My consultant didn't think it had a great chance of working for me anyway.

We'll do more scans to see if the baby turns naturally, but if not, c-section it is.
