Hope things get moving for you ladies over the next few days, at least for those of you who are now at 40 weeks. @gronk27 I'd go if you feel up for it, there were always people at mine who were 39/40+ weeks and I fully intended to keep going until the bitter end ... Although obviously don't know how I'd have actually felt! Would be 38+4 today & paid in advance until week 39, then would have PAYG depending on induction plans (which from a hypnobirthing perspective we were keen to avoid), it might help get things moving?

@squirtlesmumagain congratulations!!! Alice is lovely, and such a nice name - was on our short list for if we had a girl. Hope you get home in the morning.

Jenfur · 14/03/2019 19:46

@CaseofEllen it's hard to describe really - it was like I really desperately needed to poo and it was hurting my stomach but I didn't actually need to go. Been completely fine all day since with no other twinges or symptoms of any sort. 39 weeks tomorrow, induction a week Monday 😯

Gronk27 · 14/03/2019 20:00

@cardboard33 yep defo going to accept the sweep in the hope I can avoid induction, although hearing lots of positive induction stories recently. At the moment I’m going for Thursday rather than Tuesday but let’s see on Monday!!

LovelyFishy · 14/03/2019 21:29

Congratulations on all the beautiful babies that have been born!! GrinFlowers

Jenfur I’ve been getting exactly the same feeling, about every other day for the past week. I assume it’s a labour sign but who knows! Pregnancy is weird...

I so nearly went into labour Sunday night/Monday morning, regular contractions, 4cm dilated...then my body decided nah, not today thanks! I am soooo peeved, I’m so ready to have this baby!!

For all the ladies with babies on the smaller side, if you need any smaller sized clothes Boots sell good multipacks at a very reasonable price. My 1st was too small for newborn outfits, she’d scrunch her legs up then kick them down the same leg hole then get frustrated and yell! Not a problem we’d foreseen!

Dalesgirl16 · 14/03/2019 21:31

Please anyone still pregnant can you advise me? I'm 37 weeks and the pressure pain in my vagina is awful and happening throughout the day. Is anyone suffering with it? Is it a sign of labour? Really hope not yet.

CaseofEllen · 14/03/2019 21:38

@Dalesgirl16 I've had pressure for weeks now, I'm 39 today. I can't tell you for sure that it's not labour as I'm a FTM but I'm still heavily pregnant over here!

Dalesgirl16 · 14/03/2019 21:49

.caseofellen. This is is my second but I can't remember when it happened last time. It's so hard when you have another child to look after. I moved house a month ago and we are still in a mess and not got everything ready for baby so I'm panicking! My caesarean is booked for two weeks today. I hope baby stays in there til then and I won't care about this pain. It's just panicking me!

Jenlou1992 · 14/03/2019 21:49

I have the pressure pain too ! Feel like I'm literally holding the baby in sometimes . And I always get a sharp pain whenever certain movements like getting in and out of bed. My due date in 2 hours. Just had another hot curry in the hope I am minority to go into labour on my due date haha .

If I do go into labour tomorrow It will be the most rock and roll Friday I've had in a while haha .

Hope everyone is doing ok .

Angelmiracle · 14/03/2019 21:51

I had an eventual day of appointments.

Met consultant midwife who apologised profusely for how I was treated at labour with DS. She said I done nothing wrong and she wants to make sure I have a better experience this time. She has invited DH and I for visit in delivery suite to review a birth plan and what I would like to happen. She's going to email the Sister midwife in delivery suite so they are aware of my previous birth and that I'm to get extra care this time lol. She reckons a water birth along with gas and air will be the ticket - which I'm open to but if not coping I will be more open to other pain relief too.

Then I went for growth scan this afternoon where a junior obs/gynae doctor scanned me estimating baby at 9lb over 90th percentile 😫 (I'm 37+6)

I freaked out asked what they were going to do about it and she said different doctors measurements vary- wtf?! She left the room came back and I was in floods of tears 😒 She said I need a rescan sent me over to another room. Then whispered to me "Do you want a section if you do this doctor will book it for you" My head was all over the place- considering water birth this morning now this. She left and the Senior Registrar asked if she could fully rescan. She estimates baby at 7lb!!! On 50th percentile. 2lb difference that's some variation. I asked if she was happy with those measurements and she was. She said baby is really low down the head measurement was hard to get. She had probe right down on my pubic bone!

I asked her opinion- she said I've nothing to lose going to delivery suite to review a birth plan etc. But if im not happy/reassured and feel I want ELCS she put in my notes that consultant midwife has to give me a date next week. Or my next growth scan is 39+6 she will book it for me. She doesn't want me having a major panic going into spontaneous labour and them having to do an emergency section.

I'm glad I've that option and I dont have to fight for a csection. However I just dont know what to do - still!! I'm just afraid how I'm going to react should I go into spontaneous labour πŸ˜‘

Sorry for the essay!!

Charlie James Wolfgang weighing 7lb 8 arrived into the world at 3:05am this morning, bang on his due date. I got to 8cm dilated with no pain relief and ended up having pethidine which I think didn't do much at that late stage. Hardest thing I've ever done. We had the option to go home today as all is well but having a night in post natal just the two of us getting used to one another. I love him so much and can't believe he is here.

Literally just popped on to check what’s been going on! Congratulations @ballanj what a brilliant name and a total sweetie. He looks so content!

@angelmiracle I am glad you had some closure on your previous birth. It seems you have options which is good - just take your time in deciding. Are you able to speak to your usual midwife to discuss more and talk about your worries or would that make it more confusing? Can you get the drs and consultant mw in the same room to come up with a plan rather than having two separate appts with differing advice? Sounds like you had a very emotional day Flowers

@dalesgirl16 yep still pregnant and will probably be one of the last ones on this thread to have my baby as EDD is 30th. I get the stabby pains, groin pain and on-off period/gripey pains in my back/tummy. Sometimes he’s low and I struggle to walk when i get up off the sofa, sometime’s he’s higher. Sometimes I feel like he’s stretching out poking his bum out of my tummy, very odd sensation. Hope baby stays in for you :)

@Sictransitgloria I have exactly this atm too!! I'm due 29th - I can't see me getting to it but who knows. My community midwife was actually at the hospital doing urine checks and blood pressure before I had the doctors growth scans but hadn't seen her after. I asked the Registrar if I could see them next week when we're in delivery suite but she said they hold clinics at outpatient hospital (20 miles away) so I'd have to see them the following week. This shared care is disadvantaged in regards to consistent care/birth plans. I rarely see community midwife. Hoping a few days space and rest will help clear my head.

I'm for a wedding tomorrow πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Congratulations! @ballanj

Sheeni · 15/03/2019 00:11

@ballanj Congratulations, he's such a cutie. Would love to know your story behind the name Wolfgang, mainly because DH would love that to be our little one's middle name. It's quite unusual, I think.

cardboard33 · 15/03/2019 01:48

@angelmiracle that sounds like a tough set of appointments, especially when everyone you speak to tells you something different reg birth options or weights etc. We also had that & the plethora of options differing whoever you speak to really doesn't help make the decision!! Hope that the wedding & a few days thought time will help, or it'll just happen on its own accord.

@ballanj congratulations!! & to 8cm with no pain relief too! Out of interest, can I ask why you went straight to pethidine rather than gas & air? No reason, just intrigued!!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 15/03/2019 02:59

Congratulations @ballanj!

Wineandchoccy · 15/03/2019 03:35

Congratulations @ballanj he is a cutie

Jenlou1992 · 15/03/2019 05:15

Wide awake again since 4. Happy due date to me . Least i am prepared for the sleepless nights

ballanj · 15/03/2019 06:14

@cardboard33 I tried to use the gas and air but because my breathing was completely out of whack I was no good on it and it just made me feel sick so found my own deep breathing worked better. I did make full use of the gas and air properly though when they stitched me up!

Jenfur · 15/03/2019 07:38

@LovelyFishy I think I might just be getting constipated to be honest but up until now have been needing to go almost twice a day so don't see how this has suddenly happened, unless it is related to labour. More pain this morning but nothing through the night.

@ballanj congratulations, he is lovely. 8cm with no pain relief, you hero.

Sictransitgloria · 15/03/2019 08:42

@angelmiracle yeah, the shared care aspect seems a little all over the place. Perhaps a few days to sleep on it (if you sleep - I do not πŸ˜‚) like a previous poster said. Oh enjoy the wedding! Hopefully that will be a nice distraction :) I really think I am going to have an April baby - my birthday is the 5th April so sods law he will arrive or start to on that day ha!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 15/03/2019 09:13

Congratulations @ballanj!

I'm just wondering what everyone's opinions on middle names are. We've got a middle name for our boy choices and one of our girl choices but with the other, nothing seems to go with it! DH says that middle names aren't important as no one actually uses it which I agree with. But I just think it seems a bit unusual not to have one and worried in case it gives off the impression that we haven't really bothered.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 15/03/2019 09:14

Sorry, I know there are bigger problems you can face and realise it seems petty. But I can't talk about it in the real world as don't want to give away our names!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 15/03/2019 09:26

Depends how distinctive, or even out there, your name choice is - will they be one of many so like the option to use their middle name?

I know people who have middle names and those without - don't think it has made any particular difference to any lives
